He moved silently in the trees, this was his perferred method of travel. He liked the shelter the rees provided. Especially in the night, it was hard to spot him with the untrained eye. No matter how quick he moved or how far ahead he was, he was aware of the vampire that followed him. Scarlette, such a strange vampire he thought. At the tavern, she was able to restrain herself. Xcial still was a little impressed with this. However, he still did not fully trust her. She was a child of the night, how could he trust her? In the distance he saw a rather large body of water. It was a lake, he decided he would stop there for a while. A rest would do him well, and perhaps Scarlette too. He called to her.. "Theres a lake up ahead. We should rest there." Scarlette was just reborn and already, she was pleased with results. Having pieces of the dream that seemed to be never ending that lingered in her thoughts always. With just being a few days old, she felt she was going strong. Only killed one person, even with a foolish drunken human hitting on her. She managed not to kill. The burn seems to be forever, but it doesn't always bother her. She took a mental note to be sure to be well feed when having to deal with humans she intended not to kill. Scarlette also realized she needed to be more stern, she wasn't a child and she refused to be shall that way. Scarlette also admired Xcial in a strange way, even though his harshness. She knew he wasn't all bad, even with being an Assassin. There was more to him, it seemed. He allowed her to follow him, he showed her how to hunt. He wasn't as bad ass as he portrayed himself, trained kill or not! Xcial called to Scarlette, they're be resting at the lake. Scarlette quietly walked, heading towards the Lake. She was excited, rest would do her good. Scarlette could use the time to sort through her thoughts, and pratice on nothing heard or seen to prefect her hunt. "Rest would be nice." she called out quietly to the trees, knowing Xcial was in there somewhere. |

Contrary to popular belief, vampires (for the biggest part) still needed oxygen to keep their brains functioning; they simply can go longer than humans without it. Abigail held her breath at the sound of the other approaching. She was certain that she could not be seen or heard, however, she was unaware of the newcomer's abilities to sense her presence. To most of the younger vampires, she gave of the same 'aura' as humans. She knew that she could elude their presence but did not currently wish to leave the lake. She found serenity and solitude in the silence which the water provided. She was too close to simply run off. While her movements were light in weight, she still risked creating too much of a scene in her escape. The single crack of a twig could catch the attention of any creature with enhanced senses. She was not a fighter, so drawing the attention of another would be very unwise for her. She appeared to be physically fit, yet fragile. It was her demeanor which cast such a look on her. She chose to remain were she was, casting thoughts of violence quickly from her mind. She was not tense physically, though her mind continued to race. She was a mere statue behind a large oak tree across the way from the others. She stared in the direction of those approaching, waiting. What she was waiting for, she was unsure. A tingle of hunger began to fester through her abdominal region. How long had it been since she last ate? – Once more her mind switched directions. She did not forget about the intruders, but for the next few moments, thoughts of food plagued her mind. Soon the idea of the intruders and food meshed together. She could see that it was a couple; seduction would not work if they were involved. It had been a long time since she had fed off of humans; given that is what they were. She did not sense a strong enough heart beat to suggest such. She preferred other vampires or animals. Both provided the nutrients she required. |

They were drawing closer to the lake. It was an idea surrounding for Xcial, he thought it as fitting for him. The night was almost pitch black, the surrounding trees hid the sky, only allowing few pockets for the moonlight's beams to escape, dimly lighting the path ahead of them. It was cold out this particular night, lightly breezy. The wind seemed to just lightly run against his cloak, ruffling the ends, as he silently moved. As they approached the lake Xcial felt his mind tingle, like a certain spark in the back of his mind. Someone was among them, he could feel it. Closing his eyes Xcial began to focus, feeling nothing but the cold breeze, the vibration of Scarlette's footsteps. He heard the leaves trickle down the long trees, the faint breathing escaping Scarlette's lungs. The water rippiling. Opening his eyes puzzled, Xcial took his guard as he continued moving. Where is it? I know it's here. I can feel it. He was almost certain it was close. It felt, inhuman. Similar to Scarlette, not as lively however. Xcial whispered to Scarlette, he didn't know why. Anything with a keen sense of hearing would be able to hear them. Yet, he supposed it wouldn't matter. With the way the two had been traveling he was almost sure they have been detected. No use hiding now. "We're being watched. We aren't alone. Tread carefully." With a certain refusal to change paths to maybe avoid a conflict, Xcial arrived at the lake. Acting as if though he was unaware of the presence he crouched next to the lake. Leaning over, he reached into his cloak, as dark as night. Pulling out his freshly used dagger, he wiped it clean. The blood left a slight reddish tinge in the waters as he replaced the knife within his cloak. He was waiting... |

The lake was gorgeous, Scarlette nor Xcial could deny that. There was something about nature that really drew Scarlette in. Nature never betrayed anyone and it was always there. The wind, you could whisper all your thoughts and secrets to the wind and she'd never tell a soul. Scarlette found that comforting. She needed that sort of comfort with the situation she was in now. She was a Vampire, The Child of the Night. There was no longer human companionship, families, townsmen. Nothing that would help you escape the realities in life. She had to take it head on and dealt with was slapped on her plate. She found this terrifying and exciting at the same time. Now she was no rules, she could do as she pleased. She refused to kill at free will though! Granted she would have to kill to feed, that was her only way to survive, but she wouldn't ravage towns and kill for no reason. She may be a monster at creation, but she wasn't evil! Scarlette sat at the end of the lake, admiring the water ripples and the moons reflection. Then something sparked Scarlette's mind. She hadn't seen her reflection since she had changed. Reborn. This sent a shudder down Scarlette's spine. She slowly rose to her feet and leaned over towards the water. She held her breath for a moment, what she saw was beautiful. She couldn't connect the two. She didn't look like her usual slept. Her skin, beautiful as pale. Her eyes, they were green like the forest. Her hair long and the color of fire. She was slender about with some muscle build. She didn't feel like herself, she was far too beautiful, she wondered what she looked like in her human years. Scarlette traced her face with finger tip. Her lips, eyes, ears, everything was even. Humans are flawed, but vampires.. they were strangely beautiful. Better to play prey, when in fact they were the predator she amused. Scarlette rose to feet and looked over at Xcial. He looked worried, and tense. Preparing himself for whatever was watching us. I wasn't too worried, I didn't smell blood, like a human. This creature was far too quite. Maybe it was like her? Her thoughts raced, maybe she'd learn more about her kind. Feel less of a monster, she could only hope. Scarlette scanned the tree's, hoping for the best. |

'We're being watched. We aren't alone. Tread carefully.' Such spread amusement throughout Abigail's being. Such amusement was diminished slightly by the man's next movements. It was evident that he was uncomfortable with her presence; then again, she probably would be a bit tenser if she knew an unknown creature was observing her. She would not, however, arm herself so openly if at all. It was a thought which plagued her bouts of pondering when in such situations: How a vampire who was not only created by the first murderer, but mimicked such actions as means of survival be so against violence. Maybe it was because her methods of murder were not so much violent as they were deceptive. Maybe it was because she thought of them as animals only when gaining her food. All of these thoughts ran simultaneous to Abigail's gaze landing on the female. She seemed much too intrigued by the reflection she found in the moon's light on the water. -- It was as if a manic depressive had taken over her emotions. Once more she was filled with amusement. An amusement that could not be flushed by the wind's wafting the stench of blood being wiped away from the male's weapon. Still she could not risk exposing herself. The echoes of heart beats thundered in her head as she attempted to focus just on the two. If there was a beat emitting from the female's being, she could not hear it. But the male, he seemed to be radiating in comparison to the female. She could not decipher what made him so different from his companion. To Abigail, it was evident now that she had isolated herself from society for far too long. She should have been capable of identifying the level of threat she was currently in much quicker than this. Impatiently, Abigail shifted her stance. A subconscious movement by-and-bye. If a sound was made, it mimicked a squirrel's movement noises. She lifted herself into the blankets the large oak provided. The more shade she had to disguise not only her, but her position, the saver she would be. -- If the time came, she could flea... Hopefully. |

After cleansing his blade, Xcial removed the hood of his cloak. Reaching behind the back of his head, he then removed the tie that had been banding Xcial's rather long dreadlocks. Letting them fall past his shoulders, thick locked hair slightly moved in the wind, as if it were dancing along the breeze. He took a hard look at Scarlette to the left of him, she seemed lost in her reflection. As if searching for something that wasn't there. Secretly, Xcial became curious of her thoughts. What was fascinating her so? He began to compare his situation with her's here. She was lost, in a land with so many dangers. He began to wonder what her fate would have been had she not ran into him at Smuggler's Crossing. Surely he didn't think she would survive. She was newly reborn, Xcial had only heard of rumors of what happens to a vampire during their first few days of being reborn. Some had mentioned that they have hellish dreams after tasting human blood for the first time. Some had mentioned they were cruel and heartless predators. They mastered in the art of deception. They prayed on the weak. The vampire race never much impressed Xcial. As an assassin for the Kokuei, his prey was always formidable. He didn't pray on the weak. He never mindlessly killed someone. He was a true hunter of the night. Explained as a sickness, Xcial craved blood. He could last great periods without it. He never enjoyed it, the taste to him alone was displeasing. Yet, he knew without it...he would not be able to perform at the standards the prideful Kokuei held. Using his slain contract's blood, Xcial keeps his urge in check. Xcial stored the blood of his contracts in small viles, that he always keeps on his person. These viles ensured Xcial a constant supply of blood. He walked behind Scarlettte, leaning down to show his reflection over hers in the lake. He felt obligated to help her in some way. He had a certain pity for her, a pity that was uncommon for him. Yet, Xcial seemed to be able to empathize with her. She was unfortunate, cursed. It was obvious she was forced into her rebirth. She didn't choose her fate. "Tell me Scarlette, do you remember your life before you were chosen? Do you remember ho...." Just then Xcial heard a rustling in the distance. Halting his sentence he drew a breath and peered through the trees. It was the presence he felt when he had first arrived. He was now certain he was being watched. Staring into the distance he called out to it, as if though it may reply. "It isn't polite to eaves drop you know." |

Xcial had leaned over Scarlette, showing his face above her. She stared in awe. This was really the first time she saw his face. She never paid much attention to his facial features in the tavern. She was too worried of keeping herself intact in front of so many humans for the first time. His skin had an olive tint, it was goregous in the moonlight. His eyes were calm, hazel in color. He let his hair down, she hadn't noticed this. It fell a bit past his shoulders, dark in color. It blended well with the night. She wanted to trace his face. It looked warm, she wanted to see if it felt the same. Scarlette took notice that she hadn't felt temperature difference. Everyone know humans were easily bothered. Especially when it came to bodily temperature and nature affecting them. She felt the wind, but it didn't make her cold. She wondered if he got cold, then she worried. He was an adult though, she was sure he was well aware of how to take care of himself. Then again, he wasn't human. Maybe he didn't get cold. He had a heartbeat, but nothing of a humans. His blood wasn't appealing but it had a scent. Scarlette imaged standing and leaning up. Taking her finger trips tracing them all long his face. Starting with his hair line, moving down to his eyes, nose, trace along his lips. Along his facial hair, she found his facial hair attractive. Staring into the lake didn't look real. It was upsetting her. She wanted to make sure it wasn't a dream. Dreaming, it scared her lately. The last dream she had will forever linger her thoughts, and it'll be her last dream. From what she could tell, vampires don't sleep. "Sleep" She mumbled the word inside her head for a moment, it echoed and lingered. It sent a shudder down Scarlette's spine. "Tell me Scarlette, do you remember your life before you were chosen? Do you remember ho...." Scarlette was starting to sift though her throats when again, she was distracted. "It isn't polite to eaves drop you know." Scarlette looked up at Xcial, and then looked into the direction he was looking in. We were being watched. Scarlette wasn't ready for this moment to end, or for either of them to die. |

Abigail scaled the trees with the lightness of the wind. She managed to remain completely silent. It was easy for her to do such when given her vampyric abilities. Her mind was always three steps ahead of her movements, and her movements always amplified to position her perfectly with each new shift. It took at most ten seconds for Abigail to successfully position herself behind the couple. It isn't polite to eaves drop you know. He was facing were she had first been. She was pleased by this, for it meant that she had only made one mistake during the given scene. She had also acquired the female's name Scarlette he had called her. She sat staring at the couple for only a moment longer. She could not leave tonight -- In order for her to move as she had, she had left her satchel in the first tree she climbed. There were too many personal items in the bag to have it just forgotten. Within another ten seconds, Abigail was far enough away that it was safe for her to approach them once more using the path they had taken. Once on the path, Abigail ruffled her curls, loosened her blouse and corset as though she had been recently attacked or at least in a brawl of some sort. She torn into her left sleeve, though this did not come to her as an easy task -- It was not difficult in a physical means, rather an emotional means. Abigail was not a materialistic creature, but she had a sort of respect for all that was placed on this earth. That respect was breached often to satisfy her own self-interest. Obtaining her often used 'vulnerable girl' appearance, Abigail proceeded. The first few steps forwards were silent, though she made sure to take the opportunity to stumble nosily on a branch, cracking it the process. A mousy squeak emitted from her softly, as though she were holding such a reaction back. -- She had to be the part if she were to act the part. Her humanly paced quest continued. She held her sides in a self-embrace. She was wounded in appearance. A façade she could always present. |

He saw nothing, just trees. Perhaps he was fatigued, maybe he was imagining things again. No. He dosn't make mistakes. There was something in the trees. He felt it, he was certain. Intently staring into the trees, he focused on his senses. He could no longer rely on his eyes. There was no scent, however... The wind about him seemed disturbed, as if a spirit had passed them. The winds pattern had changed suddenly, twice now. As if he were being passed by something. This disturbed Xcial, something was moving about them, and he couldn't see it. It was quick. He glanced toward Scarlette, almost expecting of her to not be there. Yet she was, it wasn't her moving. So then what was it. It was then he hard a crash in his mind. It was merely a branch breaking in the distance. It was behind them, the path they had taken. Xcial swiftly turned to face the path, peering into the darkness, as if he were parting it. It seemed to be a woman, she appeared human. She was alone. "Human woman at this time of night, walking this path alone. Strange." He focused on the woman, studying her. She felt...different. Similar to..It couldnt be. He quickly turned to the trees where he had first felt the presense. Empty. Quickly turning around he realized.. "It was her." Xcial grew heavily suspicious of the woman. She was deceiving, clever, quick. It was then for the first time he felt as if he needed to protect. The vampire. He would have felt more comfortable alone to deal with this. For a reason unknown to him, he had a certain attachment to the vampire. He felt the need to ensure her safety. Xcial swiftly glided into the path, leaving Scarlette at the lake. Within an instant he was face to face with the woman. He took note of her tattered attire. It was as if she had been attacked. Yet no blood, why no blood? He reached into his coat and clenched his dagger, yet he didn't release it. It was a defensive measure, he wasn't looking to attack. She felt different, not a normal human. The Kokuei had always taught it's students that the eyes were deceptive, especially when dealing with the inhuman. "It's even less appropriate to stare." |

Scarlette stood there, confused. Xcial looked panicked. This wasn't his usual, She'd never seen him like this before. He looked back at her, then back at the trees. He was looking for something. She heard the something moving around, but she wasn't sure what it was. It didn't have a scent. It wasn't human that was for sure. She wondered if Xcial knew that. She wanted to tell him, but he had already taken off. Face to face with this woman. She was extremely beautiful. She was slender. Her eyes were a strangely elegant blue. Her silvery blondish hair danced around her helpless looking face. and tethered clothes. She looked liked she had been attacked, but there was no blood. Her beautiful sparked jealously in Scarlette's mind, but she ignored it, or attempted to. She grew fond of Xcial, and wasn't ready to lose him. Her skin was pale, like Scarlette's. The females heartbeat was faint though, unlike herself. Scarlette didn't have a heartbeat at all. This sparked multiple interests in her mind. The fact the female was pretending to be a helpless human girl who had been attacked, infuriated Scarlette. She was playing tricks. A game. Scarlette wasn't in the mood for games, she just wanted to rest and continue where she and Xcial had left off. "It's even less appropriate to stare." Scarlette heard Xcial, say to the woman. Scarlette was growing angered and worried. She quickly walked up behind Xcial. She refused to leave him alone, while this thing attempted to play mind games. She was far from letting anything happen to Xcial. She wasn't ready to be on her own again, as she had felt before. Xcial meant to much in such a short amount of time. He was teaching her, showing her she wasn't the only one with such a curse. "Cursed" The word echoed. Was that was she was? Was Xcial cursed? She wanted to know so much more about him. She was going to know more about him, as soon as this little situation was handled. She would not fear. They were strong. Scarlette was now standing at Xcial's side. She looked at him, and then back at the girl. "This look you have, a bit dramatic don't you think? You're obviously not human, I have no desire to drink you dry. Then what are you really? Your heart beat is far too faint. I don't appericate the ease dropping, the staring, and now the games. Please do pardon the tone." |

Abigail's maw parted to speak though was rudely interrupted by the female named Scarlette. If the two were capable of reading auras, her own could not be mixed with any other than fear. While on her way down to the lake she had only mocked such a state, it was truly radiating from her small frame. She towered over the other woman and even an inch taller than the man, yet it was terror that was expressed from her. Both creatures before her had different scents casting off of them, though they both reeked of blood. She despised the smell. She despised needing it, yet found the lust it brought about enjoyable. Her frozen sapphire hues peered into the man's eyes. Nothing could be seen within them beyond one quality, they were truly without emotion, yet life flooded into the swirls of the colors. It was not a life of dead souls, rather it was the life of a single soul. Such provided a stronger reality to the unnatural feeling which engulfed her. "I... I have not claimed to be such a being." The young girl's voice was almost angelic as it flowed away from her tongue. "And what do you mean? ... I was not eaves dropping, nor staring, until you came into view, that is." For a long moment the young woman paused. She was not sure exactly sure how she looked to the couple, she simply knew how she felt at the moment. She did not know what the man was. If she had to wager her life, she would certain enough to say that the woman was a vampire. A new born. She had came into contact with many new borns, they fell into two classes -- those in touch with their previous human nature, and those who were just as evil in their human life as they became in their new life. She had nothing more to say, she could not find it in her emptying mind. She did not want violence -- She would run if the time came. This was the safest way to get out with her personal belongings alive, however. Abigail stared at the male, he was the only threat present. She did not know what he was. -- While he seemed like a familiar creature, she did not know... It bothered her. |

He stood his ground peering into the woman, she stared back into him, as if she too were trying to read him. After a few moments, Scarlette had intervened, much to the discontent of Xcial. He would have rather handled this himself. She was acting weird to him, he had never seen Scarlette so aggressive. For a moment he wondered why she was so disturbed? This person struck a nerve with her. It was then he realized... This look you have, a bit dramatic don't you think? You're obviously not human, I have no desire to drink you dry. Now he was certain what he felt was indeed not human. "Clever one." Xcial grew more uncomfortable with the situation. The vampire before him was obviously playing to the eye. It explained the absence of blood. He stared at her suspiciously, motionless in the night. The cold win whirrled around his cloak, dancing with it's ends. A cloud eclipsed the moon, the path in which they stood faded to darkness. Xcial's eyes had a certain glow of red now. A faint dim glow. He was getting agittated. He grew impatient, he wasn in no mood for the charade. However for the sake of the vampire he had become so protective of, he avoided physical altercation. He felt that somehow, the woman feared him. Perhaps this fear explains the charade. "There is no need for the act, we are not interested in any hostile encounters. I have been aware of your presence since we arrived. You put a lot of effort in hiding yourself, you would have been invisible to almost anyone. Almost. We mean you know harm, but I must warn you, if your intentions were to hunt us, you have chosen poor prey." |

Scarlette agreed silently with Xcial. She wasn't in the mood to fight, she wanted to relax. She was in much need of peace. It had been a long night. Scarlette would get use to the night, for she was a child of it. It still hadn't sunk in right. Scarlette tried her best to keep a straight face. She would refuse to show weakness towards this dramatic woman. Her game, she would not fuel it. Scarlette had never felt this sort of emotion before, not in this form. She felt like she should be in crouch. Her teeth showed, and hissing. She continued to fight the urge. She didn't want to cause a bigger conflict than what was at hand. Scarlette focused her attention on Xcial. His eyes, they had changed from the beautiful shade of Hazel. This made her sad. She loved the hazel tint. He looked less empty then. The wind was blowing and whipping her fiery hair around her face and body. Scarlette made no notion to move the hair from her face. She took the time to quickly glance over her attire. She hadn't paid much attention to it, she wasn't very materialist. She wore a long sleeved black shirt, a black leather corset, followed by a skirt that hit to the top of her leather boots. Everytime looked fine to her, and brought her attention back to the woman. She was still infuriated with her. She quickly pulled the hair behind her ears and smiled. Scarlette sweetly and quietly spoke "Please, do tell us what your business may be here tonight, so we can get on with ours." Scarlette had no desire to be rude, but she was growing impatient. |

Flabbergasted, the young girl simply stared at the two. Never once had Abigail moved into an offensive stance, let alone a defensive one. She was simply looking to enjoy her evening - alone. These two had ruined it on their approach to the lake. Had they not interrupted her evening, she would most likely be musing over the echoes of the evening and admiring the moon's beauty cast down upon the land. "Who are these... things... to act so crude." Abigail's appendages strummed along her sides as she readjusted her self-embraced grip. She knew that some creatures had the ability to read other's minds -- she also knew this ability, while very useful, was damaging to one's life, yet at this very moment, she wished to obtain such ability. The woman before her was aggressive. She spoke, generally, out of turn. It was almost as though she was the guardian to the man. -- At least this is what registered in Abigail's mind. She took a step away from the two, her head tilting with the breeze only lightly. Such motion caused her silvery blond curls to fall behind her shoulders and away from her face. Abigail began to study in the male more so as she created the distance between them. It took her a few moments before she parted her lips to once more speak. Her celestially soft tone rung out in only a few simple words "What are you?" It was evident that she was asking the man. While she had taken the time to fully observe Scarlette's presence, she had also labeled the woman as an underling to her in the age of her species. Though it was merely three words that echoed against the silence, they were clearly detached from a present state of mind. Intrigue was mixing into her fear-filled sapphire optics. She was determined now to know. Stubborn at 'heart', Abigail never gave up once she set out on a quest of any sort, unless it meant her own demise. This she was certain would not be a case in which her existence was in question. The two were wrapped around one another, it would have entertained her more if it were not for answers lingering just out of her grasp. |
