Night time in the city of Trevena, the streets were quiet and the moon high, it rained during the day but stopped when the sunset leaving puddles laying about at street corners and in between cracks on the cobblestone path. The drunkard swayed left and right all the way to his house from the tavern, he slurred a joyful drunk song when he seperated from his equally drunk friend back at the cross road, now he was alone. Waif creeped up on him from behind, keeping low and silent, his naked feet making no noise as he padded across the wet cobblestoned path. He reached out with his right hand, carefully keeping in time with his swaying which just so happened to be in time with his drunken tune, and snatched quickly and effieciently his house keys from a loop on his belt. The drunkard none the wiser kept singing his merry tune, until he reached his house, he reached for his keys to find nothing, "Blast it...hic, where be me keys?" He rummaged about his pockets, "Must've left them at the inn ... Hic, I'll go back n get em". And so he went. Soon Waif went straight to the door, unlocked it with the key, and went inside locking the door behind him. Pulling out a sack from his holey trousers, he began looting objects that he believed were worth something. The front door began to rattle, Waif froze on he spot, waiting. Nothing happened for a few seconds, realising his sack was getting heavy he figured he gathered enought, and made for the back window. Looking left then right before jumping out, he believed the alley to be clear, he ran all the way down the alley till it reached the main street, again peering out to make sure it was clear. |

Gliding huntress of the silver sea
|
The dark shaded raven lifted from beneath the shadows to rise on the whispered winds about them. Sharp eyes peering out, watching the streets and enjoying what ever thermals it could find to glide upon. And so it was that said sharp eyes saw the small act of the silent wolf, snagging the keys from behind the drunken creature she knew as humans. she continued to watch, gliding like a shadow herself above the dark earth and almost entirely empty side streets. She followed the wolf and the drunken man as the reached the house... the perfect watcher, it seemed. She circled above the house now; waiting. Soon enough the wolf ducked out the wind and made for the streets, sacks full of goods upon his back. Flash had seen enough, now, and ducking into a close alley as the thief still made his way to the main street, something very, very strange happened. For where the Raven had vanished, out immerged a young human female, a dark clock about her body, and hidden beneath her hood; a strange emblem of wings. With quick and elegant strides, Flash; dragoness of the sea, and dreamer with the power to change... was just before the alley as the thief immerged. She stopped, directly in front of the wolf, blue eyes glowing in angry flashes of silver, like foaming waves. She folded her arms, blocking his way. “Want to tell how a wolf learned to do all that...?” She growled softly to him, making it clear that she had seen everything |

Okay, the way was clear, the guards would be too busy watching the drunks to be bothered with a moving shadow. Before he was about to make his move across the busy street to the neighbouring alley, he heard a whoosh of air coming from the alley behind. One quick look behind into the dark alley, nothing, just a few scraps of litter fluttering about in a cyclone near a corner and the swaying of the knitted curtains flowing out of his exiting window which he left open. Waif shrugged his shoulders and turned back round to the main street, where out of the blue an incredibly beautiful girl stood infront of him, barring his path, “Want to tell how a wolf learned to do all that...?” she growled, Wolf? What is she talking about? Sod it, get out if here Waif! he thought to himself. Suddenly he threw the bag of loot at the obstructing girl hoping to distract her for just a bit, the loot inside the bag spraying all over her and noisily clanging against the cobbled stones. Then he made a run for it back up the alley he came from, passing by the open window and towards the, now empty, Market place, there is plenty of ways in that district to lose someone. |

Ooc: I’m so sorry... I was half asleep when I wrote that... I thought your character was a wolf, somehow. Haha, sorry Flash’s eyes fixed on the thief as he saw her, heard her words, and she saw panic turn his features. She had called him a wolf; a silent creature of the night, and confusion mingled in. He threw the loot at her, and as it was half way through the air, watching it come, she turned to a raven in the blink of an eye. Taking off and lifting over the loot as it crashed into the ground. She ignored the loot now, left it lying there as she dove after the thief, crying out a bird’s defiance as she chased after him in the night. Her sharp raven eyes stared at him as she glided only a meter above his head, black eyes fixed on his running form as she banked to the right to glide down closer to his side. She continued on and zoomed in front of him... now to make a spectacle out of herself. She stopped when she was a bit in front of him, twisted to face him... and changed once more. Now a bear sized (Only bear sized because she didn’t want to break anything around her) dragon took the raven’s place. She lifted her head and gave a steamy huff. “Why are you thieving” She demanded. She wasn’t looking to hurt him, this thief... she was looking to help him. |

Waifs feet were slapping hard against the wet cobblestones, no need for stealth here, just run. He quickly glansed behind him, nothing. She was gone, his pace slowed but he didn't slow down. A bird swooped down flying almost straight into him, flew up ahead and turned about twenty feet up ahead, hovered there, looking at him. Suddenly it stretched and pulled, the birds firm expanding at an extraordinary rate, it grew huge taking up almost the entire width of the alleyway, it's feathers were replaced with scales, it's beak with a snout and it's wings became thin membranes of skin, the bird turned into a DRAGON! Wide eyed, jaw loose, legs giving way, poor terrified Waif crumbled to the wet hard ground, his legs didn't stop moving as if still trying to run but his feet wernt in contact with the ground. It took a couple if seconds for him to realise this when an almighty roar erupted from the dragons gaping mouth, "Why are you Theiving?". Waif yelped, his feet finally gripping to the ground, his arms pumping into motion he began to run backwards on all fours before spinning round to let his legs catch up. Fear. Most terrifying fear enveloped the young human, his mind was set on one thing, to get as far away from this, this, this Monster as he could. That's when he spotted the open window. Not taking the time to slow down in order to climb the wall to the window without hurting himself he just leaped, grabbed the windows edge and tossed himself inside, going straight for the front door. |

Flash blinked as she watched the boy fall, skid, flee. Never had she seen such a sever reaction to her true appearance before. He didn’t even look terrifying as a dragon. Glossy blue scales, not red, gentle wise eyes, like someone old, someone who had seen much of the world. Maybe this boy had never seen a dragon before... she had been after his respect, she wanted answer... not a heart attack. Lowering herself to the ground she watched the boy as he finally found his footing and ran straight through a window. What. A. mess. Well... maybe she should have taken on a more serene appearance then her true one... but she was never one to lie or hide. She only ever meant good... minimising herself till she was the size of a head, with wide cute eyes and tiny strong wings, she dived through the window after him, reaching him as he reached for the door. “Hay, wait, please!” Her voice was soft, but it carried well; he definitely would have heard her. She felt ridiculous in this tiny form... but who knows, there was not a speck of threat in her now... so maybe he would at least stop at hear her out. |

Pulling out the owners key from his belt pouch while still at full run, he near enough slammed straight into the door. Dropping the key he stumbled to the ground, retrieved it, the began to frantically aim it for the keyhole. In his panic he struggled to find the hole, he has never been so scared in his life. He finally got the key in the hole, a big grin stretched across his worried face, and was about to turn to unlock when a real high pitched noise made him jump, “Hay, wait, please!”. He rapidly spun round to the voice, noticing the dragon again but, tiny. Pushing his back up against the door as far as he could, his grin dissapeared replaced by a trembling lower lip. He pushed his hands up into a defensive position, noticing the snapped key in his hand, "What... What do you want from me? I didn't meen to steal, I ... I ... I was made to do it, I won't do it again, promise, never again. Really I won't", shaking his hands out in front if him, he tightly closed his eyes, "Please don't eat me". |

Flash snorted in amusement that wasn’t really all that funny; maybe more sarcastic, as the strange thief begged for her not to kill him. In his panic he had snapped the key and now had his back to a wall with panic written across his face. Flash really had to come up with better tactics, honestly. “Gheez, do you know how bony the human race is? I wouldn’t dream of eating you for the toothache it would give me... but I don’t like liars, either” She added on the end, dropping to the ground she changed to a human once more; the form that humans related to best... they believed there eyes more then there brains and killed first; asked questions later... from what she had seen of them. Flicking long, long blue hair from her eyes, she inspected the thief now. She wondered how long he had been a thief for... and why he had turned to such a life style. He must have had a bad life... Flash often felt sorry for thieves... and being who she was she couldn’t help but poke her nose in there business. “So the, why did you choose to become a thief, of all things?” She asked, more softly this time. |

"I didn't choose to be a thief" he shot back, then he realised what he was shouting at. His voice returned to his feeble, shakey voice. "It became and still is a ... necessity." Waif stood up not using the wall to hold him up, his head sunk down into his chest a deep frown on his face. "Why would you care, you're going to end up either killing me or handing me to the authorities" his face shot up to glare at the pretty woman, "My history wouldn't make it any easier or harder to punish the likes of you". He continued his cold glare, fighting himself not to look away. |

Flash’s eyes continued to look to him with concern; trying to see what she could through the lines. He said he became a thief out of necessity... so maybe she could help here... “I care because its part of who I am. You humans, your sentient creatures... but sometimes, your like lost little kittens... this is what I have seen since I first came to land, for I am a dragoness of the sea. Let me help you then, stranger, if I can” Her voice was spoken gently, softly, her eyes as caring as ever as she watched him. He seemed to you an accusing voice to her, blaming her for something. Well, she had just scared the living daylights out of him... unless his voice was also angry for everything he had been forced to suffer. Hmm... she could not turn her back now, that was for sure. |

"Let me help you then" It had been a long time since he heard those words, it was those words that got him so deep in this kind of proffesion. "But isn't that bad doing that?" asked a young child Waif. "Listen kid, you want to do your mother proud, don't you?" Said the older man, his face was a blur but Waifs memory couldn't possibly forget that ring, thick, chunky, with a golden head of a Gryphon peering out over his fingers knuckle. "Yes, but I was always told taking things wasn't allowed". "Look, if you don't go into that building and get what I'm asking for, I'm just gonna get someone else to do it" the stranger grabbed the young Waifs shoulder hard, "After I beat you to a pulp!" "Okay, okay. So up into that tiny vent? But it's too high, I can't reach that", "Let me help you then!" Grabbing the young boy by the scruff of the neck with one hand and between the legs with the other he painfully hoisted the young boy up into the air vent. He was still staring at the beautiful woman, he hadn't blinked the whole time he was silently recalling the memory, he was unaware how long hr had been staring for, it felt like a long time. His eyes were welling up, moisture began to rim around his lids. Finally he tore his eyes from her gaze, looking down and to the side, "Why would anyone want to help me?" he asked in a defeated voice. |

Flash’s eyes grew concerned and she took a hesitant step closer; not wanting to frighten him further, but the moisture gathering in the corner of her eyes was getting to her. She had found out the hard way what the water meant; dragons didn’t cry... not that she knew of, anyway. In fact, they weren’t anywhere near as emotional as humans could get... and ever since taking on there form she had slowly come to understand the two-legged creatures better. His next words also brought sadness crashing down on her... why would anyone save him? Why wouldn’t someone... sometimes the human race disgusted her. Who would not help this broken child? So many humans simply turn there nose away and walk on thinking, if its not there business, then why should they care? “Because no one is past saving... I haven’t even gotten you name, what is it, friend?” She asked softly, trying to get across that she wasn’t the type to walk by when she could lend a hand. She got her nose in business that wasn’t hers so often she was surprised she hadn’t lost it yet. Never had she had to been so nose as a dragon... never. |

The Great Equalizer
|
Sariel fluttered, if one so big as her could adequately use the verb, from high vantage point to vantage point. She had come here because it was a Capitol, a center of power. And a center of power, in the Leech's book, was a den of corruption and misuse. So it was that she hunted tonight, knowing that power was never reserved only for those who walked in sunlight. The she sensed it. One of her father's race. Here. In the city. Powerful. Her face became grim. A dragon. Of all of the things to find here, it had to be dragons. They should be far away from humans and other large population areas; it was their nature. But one had come....had had the audacity to breach its kin's laws and enter the human realms. With a surprisingly quiet landing, Sariel dropped to the ground in an open square near where she had smelled the scent of a dragon, albeit briefly. Smoothly, she reached back and lifted Sovereign from her sheath, the Blade of Kings eagerly awaiting the blood and strength of the powerful - or weak - foe that she now hunted. The Leech wore clothing that was dark in color, tonight, and padded, so as not to create any unwanted noise. Armor, once again, was deemed to be too heavy for the task of alighting from rooftop to rooftop. She perked her hears up. Voices. Nearby. Emotional. Her prey wasn't alone. Possibly its victim. Sariel didn't know. She might care, given the situation, but that was purely if the strong one's power wasn't too far from its victim. If they were too weak....the humane, and balanced, solution would be simply to eradicate them both for the good of the cosmos. She moved swiftly, now, using her high speed and strength to locate her target in a matter of minutes. There they were. A woman. Standing. She was speaking to someone. A human, male, on the ground, looking battered and exhausted. That was reason enough for Sariel to intervene. "You two. Which one of you is the dragon I smelled earlier? Tell me, you must be powerful to change your shape like that....how do you use your power?" she asked questioningly, her sword held elegantly in her hand, her head towering over the both of them with ease. There was a full moon out tonight, as well. A slight illumination was given off by her hair, courtesy of her mother's bloodlines. Sariel didn't enjoy that effect. She thought it made her look soft, effeminate, and distracted people from her purpose. |

Suprised by the new arrival, Waif snapped his neck to view her. At least he thought it was a female, she towered over, well, everything. Eight foot of something around that. She was huge, but pretty, what was it with beautiful and powerful females? Waif was back up against the door, he had a Dragon no more than a meter away and a gaint woman calling out the dragon, only two types of people call out a dragon, an extremely powerful one or an extremely stupid one, either way Waif didn't want to be amongst any of them. Behind him he heard some commotion, the handle of the door rattled, then the broken half of the key inside the lock fell out, klinking lightly on the wooden floor. Waif couldn't believe his luck, he waited for that familiar click, it felt like a life time, a bead of sweat dripped down the side of his temple before that beloved sound. Click. Waifs hand was around the doors handle faster than hechad ever moved before, turning it and pulling it so fast, the drunk came in with the door, still clinging to his spare key. "What in tarnations!" bellowed the drunken man, without an answer Waif pushed straight by him and into the open street, running as fast as he could, back to the taverns district. |

Well... as Flash offered to help him, a stranger burst into the room demanding after the dragon... herself. She gritted her teeth as the thief ran in terror now. It seemed the helping him was not something he wanted. She wondered fleetingly over changing her face and ‘accidently’ dropping some coins before him... but no, that wasn’t how she wanted to help him. If he wasn’t a thief purely because he wanted to be, then there was hope that she could nudge him in a different direction. “Yes... I would be the dragon. My name is Flash of the Lightning Strike, how can I help you?” She asked softly. She would sort what ever this was out, and then maybe see if she could help the boy. At the very least she could nudge someone else with good intentions his way... “How do I use my power?” She asked, confusion etching lines in her forehead as she puzzled the meaning behind the question. Why would this person care? Turning only now away from where the thief had fled, her eyes fell upon the tall woman... only to see that beneath her disguise she was to, was dragon (Ethereal Sight). Growing all the more puzzled she took a moment to asses the situation. Why would a fellow dragon care upon her use of her power? “I use my power to teach where I can... but because I do not lie about who I am; and humans are still yet to learn the truth of the dragon kin... fear comes first” She waved her hand to where the boy had ran, her eyes falling about the drunken man who stood there, confused. “I’m sorry sir... we’ll be getting out of your way now” She promised softly, turning back to the one who had called upon her, she nodded towards the door. “Shu’ll we?” She asked gently, indicating politely for them to leave the poor drunken’s house. |
