A great rustling, rumbling, and rocking filled her world. Feline senses unable to navigate through the pitch dark no matter how she tried. For how long she remained in this trembling, pitch black world she lost all track of keeping. Until, at last, a curse echoed through the tiny interior, and she fell to the ground with a thud. Narrowly dodging a boot heel, the scrawny critter scrambled under a stall.

With a back arching stretch, the cat yawned widely. How she ever managed to get stuck in that box was a mystery. But the man who'd dropped it on his toe only had the mysterious appearing cat to blame for his misfortune. All at once the scent of fish enveloped all else. She was a cat, she was hungry, and there was the tail of a fish hanging directly over her ears.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what that sly look in the cat's eyes meant. In the span of seconds the little cat snatched the fish, chomping her teeth upon the fins, and high tailed it out of the market. As slight as she may be however, even the drowsy fish seller noticed the fish sliding off his stand. Taking off in hot pursuit of the feline the merchant went. The cat dodged harbor workers and merchants, slipping between legs and deftly leaping upon crates.

Everywhere the cat went, misfortune seemed to follow. As dock workers seemed ti trip over their own feet, crates randomly falling into the sea. And one merchant with a stolen fish scrambling furiously to catch her.

With the wind blowing in his hair and the breeze in his face, kotoki was feeling refreshed in more ways then just the breeze. With a easy eye open for any potential ladies that seem to be thirsting for his presence, he stroll along the harbor, for it was always interesting place to be, for the fishes that came in always fascinated him with the shape and the different species that came in. Still, he had more pressing issues that seemed to distract his mind from the pleasures of life. Raising his hand to the back of his mouth, covering up a yawn that was breaking out, which he tried in heroic effort to stifle it, but alas for him, it was no good.

As he wandered his way between the stalls and the heavy man that lifted the crates from one place to another, which to kotoki, seemed such a pointless job, for the crates where just gonna go back to the spot in a few minutes. Kotoki just couldn't be them or a merchant. But he never feared! he new what he was in life, and that was something that he himself never knew, or was trying to find out. Still with the easy eye open looking for a lady, he spotted a cat, which was rare in this part of town but the interesting part was it was being chase by a merchant.

Taking notice of this grave error, kotoki rushed, for he was bored with walking and looking for some adventure in what seemed to be a dangerous game of cat and mouse which made kotoki, for the irony of it struck him. Shaking his head of his chuckles, kotoki begun running besides the cat, Which made the scene in kotoki even more hilarious, jumping the crates and dodging the merchant and worker's "Come partner in crime! lets not be caught, least the meal that was so painstaking taken would be taken back, with a few choice words and a severe beating to accompany it." As those words left his mouth, kotoki made a mistake, a simple mistake but a bad one in any case, he run face forward into a pile of crates. Rolling through them with curses on his lips and smelling of fish, kotoki lifted his head up laughing and kept running with the cat

Tossing her head, the cat lifted her catch from the ground to prevent herself from tripping over it. Quite a large fish it was, in comparison to the cat. But she was nimble and swift. One could not say the same for the merchant chasing after her, however. He eventually stumbled, and tripped, being left in the dust to stare after the cat which stole his stock. Noir didn't even notice, so busy was she in flight. She nearly tripped over her paws in shock at the strangest of tagalongs beside her. A man was running, talking to her, they were ... partners? The word sounded familiar, but she could not recall it. She gave a muted meow of query, before continuing to run.

Leaping over boxes and crates and dodging heavy booted feet, she kept her fish prize held close. Abruptly a big pile of crates fell all over, but with deft steps she leapt, side stepped, and otherwise dodged every one of them. When she noticed the merchant no longer followed, and she judged herself a good enough distance away from all pursuers, the cat finally ducked into an alleyway. It was here she leapt atop a few boxes, paws atop fish, and looked down at the man from her new perch. Mew.

With barely a glance at the stumbling merchant, kotoki ran with hardly any sweat decorating his face, for it was a easy job, and fun to boot also. For all the obstacles gave it a slight challenge, which he decided he would have to do one day but at full speed, for he would make great training for flexing his body in different ways to avoid blows his to his body. Still thought, while he was thinking this, he kept one eye one the cat, and the rest of his senses on the surrounding's around him, for the city guard at this moment would most likely stop him, and he would have to explain why he was running, which he himself wasn't quite sure sounded very good. Running along with a cat, just for the fun, was something that no one would believe him, or think he wasn't quick right up in the head, which kotoki wasn't sure if it wasn't quite right. Shaking his head slightly at a meow beside him, he stilled followed the cat, which finally stopped

Standing with a relaxed air, so as not to threaten the cat, kotoki kept his eyes open on both sides of the alley, for things happen in these types of places that weren't very healthy for people, not that he was worry, for he could handle many things, sometimes all at the same time, which always seem the most fun to him. With a graceful shrug, kotoki looked behind him toward the wall, making sure that it was at least somewhat clean so that he could lean on it, which he promptly did, for it was a easier posture to keep, and still keep vigilance on his surrounding's. While he was doing this at the same time, kotoki kept talking.

"Well, that was entertaining, just the thing to wake a person up, thats right, nothing like a jog to get the blood going and feeling's of freshness that comes deep within a soul. Well Kitty, enjoy the fish, for a person or a animal can never know if it will eat again" It begun to look like it was over, his narrative, but kotoki had one last thing to add " Also, not sure if you care, but my name would happen to be Kotoki, the famed traveler that has done many heroic deeds that have been sung in courts of kings and queens. But not temples for some reason, not sure what's that about"

Flexing her claws, the cat began picking at the scales on the fish. She was, of course, simply a cat. So she had no real opinion on what most the man was saying. Instead she simply lashed her tail, gave him a quizzical look, and began tearing tiny teeth into her fish. The man continued to speak, words that anyone else might brush off as simple egotistical boasting. The cat however knew little the difference between truth and fiction. Other than what he saw for herself, that is.

Her collar sparkled in the sun briefly, as she dug away to the fish's innards. She made short work of the fish despite its size, it had been awhile since she last had a god meal. Barely did her ears twitch at a noise from above. So focused on eating her prize she didn't notice the abrupt dislodging of a few roof tiles directly above the man's head. Hanging around with this cat was definitely dangerous.

Still leaning up against the wall in a relaxed position that he had held on to since the beginning of this one sided conversation that he had begun, with only a occasional meow from his feline listener. As kotoki was talking, rambling on about his past life and how it was for such a rising star as himself dealing with all the fan's and cronies that wanted to join his group, which he always said no, for it was something that he didn't or wanted. For that would only cause problems. Of course, most of this that had occurred had only been in his imagination, but since he was only talking to a cat, and the cat seemed to pay at least a little attention to him, so it really didn't matter to him what he said about himself or his dreams or thoughts about it.

He stopped talking for a minute, and watched the cat eat the fish. It was something of interest to watch, not sure if he should give it private space or not, kotoki slipped his hand up to his hand, pushing his hair through it so that it pushed most of the bangs in front of his eyes to the back, which promptly fell back in his eyes, but at least they weren't in his direct line of sight, so that it wouldn't impede on his eyesight at all. Once again taking a glance at the fish, kotoki begun to wonder on how much that fish did cost and what the man had thought about the cat stealing a fish that big and what curses he would be using for that cat.

Kotoki was still looking at the fish being dismember when he heard a sound above him, taking a quick glance upward kotoki noticed the motion, and with no rush or need, he stepped lightly out of the way of the falling roof tiles, taking a quick look up once again, to make sure that he had avoided them all. "shoddy building, they should be hung for such a thing, but its something that i myself can't do anything about at the moment." Leaning once again against the wall kotoki watched the cat quietly for a minute, then came to a sudden decision.

Her ears twitched at the sound of the falling tiles. It was not until they clattered upon the earth that she gave notice. Licking her lips, the cat gave the man a scrutinizing gaze. Perched atop a box, she was cat like in every aspect, of course. Though she was watching the man, her ears swiveled at the various sounds of the marketplace. Her tail lashed back and forth upon the box's surface.

Unseen by the rooftops, the sky had slowly begun to alter. What was once a calm morning slowly became darker, as if in herald of some storm. But the cat concerned this of little consequence to her, as she happily finished off her catch.

At last the cat picked up the remains of her fish, hopping to the ground with it. In a decidedly dog like manner, she walked over and dropped the fish at the man's feet. A paw rose to scratch at his leg, before she turned round and hopped back atop her box. Meow.

Once again leaning up against the wall with a relax air around him, kotoki watch the cat finish it's meal. Taking a careful glance at the cat, kotoki figure out which sex the cat was, and that gave him great pleasure, for at least now he could say he was in a females presence, and not just hanging out with another guy, which would kinda lose some of the luster of this fine moment that he was enjoying at the moment. For which he was thankful, for he wasn't sure if his day was gonna be another let down, which nothing really exciting had happen and that would have depressed him in a major way.

Slightly shifting his weight against the wall, so that he could stretch his arms into what felt like a great stretch, which rarely happens for him, not that he was complaining about the lack of them. He was finally good this day. For it was something that was happening, belated that it was with a cat, but it was of no consequence to him. He was about to speak to the cat once again when the unexpected happen.

The cat lift the leftover's and hoped toward him. Still watching in wry amusement, kotoki watch the kitten place the fish in front of him. It then scratch his leg, which kotoki was pretty sure meant that he could have it. At this kotoki chuckle slightly to himself, as he watch the cat walk back to her boxes. Crouching slightly he picked up the fish regarding it thoughtfully, Shrugging to himself. He was part dragon, so the raw flesh shouldn't do much to him. Picking at the meat slightly with his teeth, he starting eating pieces of meat that seem the best, or what was left of the best.

Around a mouthful of fish, kotoki spoke "Thanks very much for the meal, I was pretty sure this wasn't going to be on my menu today. But surprises is what keeps a person on his toes and see the good in every type of situation, even when there shouldn't be. Well look at me rambling on. What is your name kitty cat" Taking a glance at the fish, he would have to place the rest of the fish on hold.

The cat, was still just a cat, and not really special in any obvious way. Though she had a knack for being around when others experienced bad luck, it was really no control of her own. Any ordinary person would just chalk it up to superstition, and her being a black cat crossing their path. Not even she fully comprehended how things worked. By chance a goddess had found her and thought it would be amusing to make a superstition honest to goodness personified. The cat had not seen said deity since.

After making a perfected job of bathing herself, the cat continued to stare up at the man. Though the cat had never seen a person eat a raw fish before, much less the leftovers of her own, she was quite proud of herself. It wasn't often the cat encountered peonage who were not liable to just kick hr off their doorstep as opposed to spending time with her. Even being a cat, and more aloof than other creatures, she did enjoy company now and then.

Noir tilted her head at the man, of course she could not answer. And her collar bore no resemblance of her name. Considering the cat had no owner, and no capability of speech, there was little she could do in this regard. Instead, she simply gave another meow. Abruptly however, her ears flattened, and she arched her back with a hiss. Men had appeared in the alleyway, one of them the fat merchant who's fish she'd stolen. The other was a guard, hired to protect the fishermen and their wares. Brandishing a heavy baton, the guard simply stared at the man and the cat as the merchant yelled of thieves and lost profit.

Glancing at the fish with a wonder, for it wasn't that bad, and he would have to try more raw things in the future that he fully intend to live with. With a contented sigh, he kept his gaze on the cat, for it was finishing the bath that it seemed concentrated on. Without any worry, kotoki actually looked at the cat. Noting that the collar that it was sporting was a regular collar, but no wording on it could be seen from the position that kotoki was occupying. So he deemed that there wasn't one on the collar at all.

So him having a name for the cat was out of the question. He didn't just want to give the cat a name, for what if the cat had a name already, it would be just confusing for a person to have two names, and the person in question didn't even know of it. Just walking on stress free and unaware that a person had a name for you, and it could be something that you didn't even like.

With a mental shrug, kotoki finished watching the cat finish its bath. Kotoki wondered slightly on that, why give themselves bath's. But kotoki wasn't a cat and the cat was a cat until the day it wasn't a cat, so that would be something that he himself, who was kotoki, not have to worry about for any due time, until the day came where he was a cat. Not sure how that would happen.

But it was something that had some plausibilities to it for the far seeing future. Awakening from his private rambling's by a meow, kotoki glance once again at the cat, in time to see her react to the men at the entrance of the tunnel. Kotoki had heard them, or at least had heard them once they stopped in front of the alleyway, but he had thought the merchant would have given up. And how had that damn fat man knew where they were. Must have been witnesses or something, for merchant's sometime helped their own in this kind of cases.

With a barely noticeable shrug of a shoulder, he straighten off the wall and placed the fish carefully in one of the various pockets that he had on him. With out breaking a sweat, kotoki turned back toward the two men in the entrance, and called out

"Can i help with something" in a tone that held a hint of explosion that bespoke volumes on what what would happen if he was pressed by something.

Cat was a very unhappy cat as the merchant and his bodyguard stomped into the alleyway. Her fur was all riled up and her tail fluffed to make herself appear bigger. Because she was a cat, that's what they did. However the men merely ignored the cat, despite the merchant's desire to throw something at the thieving feline. But since that guy was here with it, he could only assume they were in on the steal together. And he'd pay for that! 'That's him, that's the thief! Him and that ... stupid cat!' Raising a pudgy finger and pointing at the duo, the merchant was apparently very upset over the loss of his big fish.

The guard was slightly skeptical, but this was his job. Whatever the reason, and thief was a thief. "Hey you! Pay the man or you'll be in trouble for sure." The merchant made to argue, not finding the 'punishment' sufficient. The guard however merely raised a hand and indicated the fish seller to be quiet. "Well?"

After his words to the two men, who then promptly got closer to him, which kotoki fully understood in the present situation, but he still kinda disliked it that the ground between them was disappearing. With a discontented sigh, kotoki kept his hand away from the hilt of his sword as to not start any unwanted confusion. hating that fact but admitting it was something that needed to be done, kotoki kept his hands out in the air. Listening to the boring commands of the guard, kotoki was now curious. Bringing the eaten fish out of the pocket that he had hidden it in. kotoki brought it up and gestured toward the guard. "I have the authority to supervise this fish market, for i have been informed that this man was selling improper fish to his customer's. The cat here is trained to sniff out bad fish and bring it back to me. If you value your life, go to the council and they will explain it."

Kotoki spoke with a no nonsense voice that was close to the edge of a sneer. He didn't really know anything about what he spoke, but if he spoke right, he could get out of many situations that would cause bloodshed otherwise in situations. He could play the part, for he was a able actor and he always had the thought's of everything else. So with another gesture, this one of a finality sort of way to deem this conversation was over and he turned to the cat speaking to it like it could understand him "Guards these days never get the word that someone knew was coming"

The cat didn't calm, she realyl did not like the mean ol' fish monger. She was just one cat who took one fish, what was the big deal? Okay, she didn't have to snag such a big one, but she was hungry! The man though said some funny words, and the guard seemed to be listening intently. After a few moments, the cat calmed down. But her tail was still fluffed up from the pose. As the man spoke more, the cat gave herself another bath, letting her fur settle.

Her tail lashed slightly, but she was no longer quite so angry. With a chirping mew, she jumped onto the man's shoulder. Balancing herself, she gave a meow as if to agree. 'Hmm...' The guard seemed to be considering the notion. And the fish seller seemed a little worried. 'But but but...' With a shrug, the guard turned to leave. His work was done here. 'I don't get paid enough to mess with the crown...'

Kotoki looked down at the guard. Trying to keep some type of authority pose. He wasn't sure if what one was, but he still tried to do it. He would have to do this more often then not, for the guards down here, and usually everywhere else, for one guard was just like the other to him. Simple and just trying to get by. So him being a royal investigator would work until a real one came some day, and then he would be in trouble for it. Most likely be hung or something along those lines for impersonation. But that didn't sadden him at all, just made it more excitable for him. He would have to try to up the ante and make it a more life threatening, were torture would be involved. That would be something to forward to.

He was still waiting on the guard when something surprising happen. Trying not to show surprise at the sudden weight on his shoulder. He instantly knew it was the cat, but he hadn't expected the sudden weight on the shoulder. Hoping he hadn't given anything that might have gave him away. Kotoki smiled suddenly at the merchant at the guards shoulder as he heard the guard finally give up. He sympathize with the man. But, he didn't want to pay for a fish. It had been a good fish, but still, kotoki was cheap and he would be damned before he paid it.

Keeping his smiled at the merchant, kotoki spoke to the guard without looking at the man. For if this was gonna work, he would have to finish the act, and not stop midway in it. "Now then, that little mess is cleaned up, merchant, we need to talk about your fish" Kotoki had no idea if his fish were bad, but most merchants were cheap and always tried to skip on some things " I will be returning in oh, i don't know, let's make it a surprise, and if the fish are still bad, we gonna have a major problem here, were there will be trial and retribution, for the crown doesn't like this type sort of thing, they view it very harshly. So don't be slacking" Finished speaking, hoping to make a impact on the merchant, kotoki turned swiftly but surly, not wanting to disturb the passenger on his shoulder. He begun to walk away from the two. With few words spoken over his shoulder "good day to you and warn the other's, if a black cat takes a fish, it means a few things, that they should fix their fish, and that the cat is not to be messed with"

Though she didn't comprehend much of what was going on, the look on the fish seller's face was priceless enough. She calmed considerably more when the irate guard left the scene, muttering to himself. Noir didn't know much about a crown, other than it was something shiny that people in fun to chase robes liked to wear. Curling up around the man's shoulders like a furry little scarf, the cat swiped at the air. It was as if she was waving the annoying merchant away. In truth she had just seen a speck of dust and her little green eyes had focused on it. Licking her paw clean after she caught the dust, the cat seemed to lounge quite happily. After all, it wasn't every day one got their own pet person to ride. Even if he did not smell like any other human she'd ever met.

'But I, I didn't, I swear its still but!' The merchant sputtered and stuttered, afraid of being fined or worse, losing his coveted spot at the market. Finally with a muted curse, he turned quickly on his heel, and waddled off. 'Alright ... sir.' he grumbled irritably some more, as he headed back towards his stand. He had to hurry and get rid of that fish before another cat came along!
