Leviticus
The Maddened Angel
He only shook his head to her remark about drowning in the bath, smiling slightly. Unless Aurelia was the one who drained her own bath water, servants and maids would see the creations of their love. They couldn't have them finding out and spreading rumors, they would know it was Aurelia, if not who she was sleeping with, though it would probably be obvious. He too held her hand as long as he could, even as he drew away from her. She was still naked in her bed for him, he could still crawl in, he heard her say his name and he wondered if he would be able to resist if she asked him. Thankfully, he didn't have to test himself. What she said warmed his heart, he smiled to her and nodded. “I love you too, sleep well love, we will be together in our dreams.” He promised, and then turned to leave. When he left, he looked at her as the slit of light narrowed on her face as he closed the door. He blew a kiss as it closed, and moved quickly down the hall towards his own room, conveniently placed on the other side of the manor.

As he went down the hall, he was oblivious to the rustle of robes off down the corridor behind him. His mind was aflutter with thoughts of Aurelia, and of seeing her in the woods. He was happy with her, and thoughts of her made him equally happy, while when he was away, time passed slow and it seemed he was nearly depressed when he was away. Lately at least, he was kept busy by showing them how to kill, and what kind of work was that? But he wasn't bothered by that right now, he thought of the sweat on his body, her sweat, he thought of the kisses they had shared in the heat of passion. They had been talking in the library, then she had poisoned herself, he had been angry with her, Cordial had saved her. Next, they were kissing, and after that, making love. It was just insane to think about, and thoughts of her drove him wild. He got into the courtyard, it being the shortcut instead of going all the way around it, and he heard the door to the out of doors close again. He turned, and his eyes grew in size.

There stood Rastis, the same man who had used his death magic to save his life. Leviticus backed up a step, his palm immediately coming to rest on the hilt of his sword. Rastis laughed and shook his head. “Leviticus, you do know you will be punished for killing our man, don't you?” He said with a wicked grin to follow. Leviticus took a deep breath and closed his eyes very slowly, trying to think of the situation, and not about how he was on the verge of panic. “Nice performance by the way, maybe I will be able to have my way with her when this is all over, how does that sound my boy?” He told him, licking his lips. That did it.
Something inside the Angel snapped, and he charged forward, lowering his blade so he could cut upwards on the man and split him in half. He lowered his sword to do just that, even got it between his knees, but then he was frozen still, a holding spell catching him. “You bastard!” Leviticus growled, not understanding why he wasn't protected. And then he remembered... His gauntlets weren't on. His sword should be able to protect him still, he thought, but he was stuck.
“The link, Leviticus, we've linked magics, we are stronger than any singular magic user in Fincayra.” The wicked man said slyly. He put a hand to Leviticus' shoulder, and they were gone in a puff of smoke.

Padron felt it, oh, he had felt it. He locked onto that touch. Leviticus had gotten very angry over something, and that extreme anger had allowed him to touch a fraction of divine power, more than enough for him to feel. He was able to latch onto that, and suddenly his wings took him faster, he seemed to blink from cloud to cloud. Minutes, seconds, that's all that was left for Leviticus, and he would then only have to find the woman after that. He was moving fast now, so fast he drew a wicked weapon from his back so that he would be ready. It wasn't really a sword, but a long bar attached to a hilt. It had no cross guard and no pommel, it was what it was. But it was wicked because of the angel who wielded it. He could split a foe as well as a sword with this weapon, and do much much more. He was ready, he hoped Leviticus was.

The Angel was on all fours, he felt a heavy boot crash into his chest from below him, and fell onto his back. Not this again, he thought, too weary to do much, he looked at the man who stomped on his face, a turn of his head being the only thing that prevented his nose from breaking. He wasn't totally disarmed this time, he still had two weapons the men did not think to look for. He reached into his shirt and grabbed the katar he had yet to make use of, he clenched it hard in his fist and stabbed upward. It slammed into the crotch of one of the brutish men hurting him. He jerked it back and rolled underneath the mans forward fall, and away from more physical pain. His anger drove him on, he accessed his swords magic would even touching it now. He snapped his arm across in his roll and the blade hamstrung the same man. He stood, and looked at the much larger men opposing him. At least six, he was no match without a sword, but he would damn well try. A fist came in, and he slammed the punching dagger from below into the mans arm, catching it. He twisted it, grabbed his elbow with his other arm, spun, and arched the man over his back. The dagger tore from that spot to his shoulder, ripping his arm into two, held together at the shoulder and hand.

The magic users weren't yet in the room, they came in after a few minutes, after they knew he would be subjugated. The lighting was dark as usual, but he could see better than they in it, he reckoned. He was tackled to the ground by two others the moment he turned, and he was able to slip the dagger in between one of their ribs. He had to let go of the weapon, but he reached both of his arms up before he could be fully pinned and tried to snap the other mans neck. Too late, a foot came to his crotch and he grunted painfully, hesitating in his action. His hands were pinned to his sides. Before another kick could come, and he knew it would, he jerked his legs back like a spring coiled, and then uncoiled them, releasing massive power into whoever had planned to kick him again. He wasn't sure where it hit, but undoubtedly it hurt, from the grunt that came, he doubted he would be down for longer than three seconds, still.

Four were down, three for quite awhile, and two more were already trying to grab his legs. He arched a foot into the air and caught one of them in the nose, a sick smack telling him he had shattered it. The man fell over with a large oof, hopefully on top of his fellow. The other caught both of his legs and held them there. The man who had been kicked over came to his side, evidently having not been too hurt after all, and kicked him three times in the ribs, once in the side, and finally came around to his head. He kicked him three times repeatedly, knelt, and punched him four times in the face. Leviticus bled from his nose, from his mouth, sure that he may have lost a few teeth from that, he spat blood into the face of the one holding him down, who only grinned. More kicking, more punching, the man with the shattered nose stood and began hitting him repeatedly in the groin. Leviticus took the first three with grunts, and began yelling at all the hits after that. When tears finally began to pour, he was released and dragged to his feet. His head was down, blood pouring from his nose, so they jerked him up by his hair to face, if not see, his masters.

They came in solemnly, hands in their robes, and he knew that one of them was Rastis. Leviticus, in this state, knew better than to say anything, he was dead tired, he doubted he could will himself to even if they asked it. His mouth hung open dumbly as blood dripped from the corners of his mouth every now and again. He hurt everywhere. “Your new orders, Leviticus.” They said, and there was a pause. “You are to... - What was that?” He was about to give orders, when he was interrupted by a loud bang on the outer door. Then there was a yell of a question. Then a scream. The large metal door to this room made a metallic ring twice, as if a battery ram had hit it, and then it seemed to heat from the other side. It shattered open towards the two guards standing there. Both were pelted by shrapnel, and fell over convulsing as their brains were torn to shreds by the small sharp pieces of metal.

Padron entered the room, assessed the situation, and immediately found who he was looking for. He held his blood weapon in one hand, and looked at Leviticus. “Bad state to find you in.” He muttered, and shrugged. “You've made a mistake, Leviticus, one that will cost three lives.” He said in a commanding voice. “You've defiled the law of the heavens. You've had a child...”
“What?” Leviticus said, stunned.
“... with a human woman! That cannot be allowed to stand. You are a sinner in the highest regard, and I am here, the Archangel of Wrath, to execute you.”
Leviticus looked closer at the angel, who seemed to radiate light, the magic users were looking at each other, one spoke. Leviticus recognized Pahadron, and shook his head in disbelief. “No...” He said, not willing to believe now would be the end for him, after such a grand night. He almost grinned thinking about it. He caught himself though, and that's when he began to tune in to what the magic users were saying.

“You will not execute OUR slave, worm! You are...”
“An Arch angel, and he is no slave, but an angel also.”
“You will learn to be humble on our world then, also.” They said in unision. Through the link, they began to weave magic too powerful to believe. Fire blasted from their hands and engulfed Padron, who batted it away with one hand, even though his body hissed against the magic.
“Death magic!” He yelled, and moved in for the attack.

At that moment, Leviticus was dropped, and he scrambled to his feet to briefly watch the fight which would soon turn into a slaughter. He ran from the building, picking his things up before he left, and to the manor. He threw a rock at the window Aurelia slept in, and scaled the wall to her room so hastily, his finger tips were bleeding. He was in one hell of a state, but he looked at her in a severe panic, unaware that his breaking the window had alerted Ranson from a very restful sleep. “Aurelia!” He yelled. “We need to run, fast! I can explain later!” He said, looking at her, his eyes wide.

Aurelia had almost fallen asleep, but she was too restless to do so. She tossed and turned before getting up and pacing her room. That was after she put her nightdress on. She did not wish to pace her chamber floor fully nude. No matter what she had done with Leviticus she was still not comfortable in her own skin. She would don a long ankle length gown, along with a dress coat that was a little heavier and of a different colour. As she paced she would gather her blond locks and braid them as she had often done when retiring for the night.
She looked to her chamber door hoping that Leviticus would return. But she had to think now. It was not wise to allow things to continue so recklessly. It was time to become serious about the matter at hand. She and Leviticus would have to be very careful about their relationship. Perhaps they could talk tomorrow about it. Iron a few things out. As she tried to focus her thought, she could not help but think of his hands and how they touched her body. The way he kissed her, the way that he made love to her. A smile came to her lips. Sheer happiness was all she could describe as to how she felt.
Suddenly there was a strange sound at the window. She turned abruptly to the window and furrowed a brow. What in the name of Thaeydreth could that have been? She slowly made her way to it. Upon approaching it was then that she saw Leviticus in the window. She quickly threw the window wide and smiled at him. “Leviticus.” She said breathlessly, but the loving looked was exchanged for one of worry when she saw his face once he came into what light was arrival. “Leviticus!” Her tone now one of concern. “What happened?”
She could only hope that it was not the same people that had attacked him before. Leviticus sounded upset and urgent in his request. “What is going on?” She started as he started toward her. “I’m not dressed…Leviticus please your scaring me.”
She knew that Leviticus would not tell her to leave for just the sake of getting her alone this was starting to frighten her. “Tell me Leviticus, what is going on?” She could not control her emotions nor her voice. He would have to force her from her room.

Leviticus
The Maddened Angel
Leviticus looked at her, his eyes showing he was on the verge of panic. The way she took a step back from him hurt him, the way she looked at him hurt him. He knew he was worse for wear, but still, he winced. He ran a hand through his hair, avoiding touching his face. His head throbbed, his body ached, and his heart was pounding fast now. His eyes flicked to her stomach, and they narrowed. Pride, happiness, sadness, mixed emotions took a hold of him. He looked back at her, and his hand dropped from his hair to the table that stood next to the window so that she could look out of it, he assumed.

His finger tips drummed the table for a moment, and he looked down at his hand, and then took a calming breath, ignoring the droplet of blood that slid down his chin on to his hand. Gods his face hurt, and he could only imagine he looked like hell. He went to the bathroom wordlessly and very carefully washed his face. He realized then that he had been clutching his sword and dagger hard. He sheathed them both, and leaving the bloody rag and water in the bowl, made his way back to her hoping she wasn't too panicked. He came out to her, pursing his lips and swallowing any blood, sniffling against the pain to keep it from coming out, even though it trickled down his eyebrow.

“Aurelia, listen to me.” He said very carefully, fighting down the panic, knowing there wasn't time to explain everything. “You are in danger here, if you stay here, you will die. I will die if I stay here. Others may be hurt if we remain, we have to leave, now, we can come back later. I promise I wouldn't scare you like this, I wouldn't hurt myself like this just to get you out of the house. I can't let you stay here to die, you have to leave with me. Please Aurelia, please come with me. We are in danger. I will be able to explain better later when I am calmed down, but right now there is no time.” He said, and walked carefully to her.

He hugged her for only a second and opened the door to look back at her. “Have you ever had to hurt the one you love so you can save them? I don't want to have to carry you away, and if I do that, you won't be awake. You can't stay here for now, please trust me.” He said, his expression pained. He knew how to knock her out if he could, but could that hurt the child that would soon begin to grow inside of her? His eyes flicked down to her stomach again and then back up to her emeralds. It was hardly noticeable, it would seem as if he were just looking down. No time to explain...

Aurelia did not know just what to make of Leviticus. He was panicked, as was she now. He was hurt and bleeding. He had to have been attacked, but by whom? Was it the same men from before? Or was it Avio? She had left to learn of Avio, whether he left Etos or was possibly at her father’s side. Which caused more panic to race through her. She watched as Leviticus urged her to go with him. But go where? She looked about the room, then down at herself. She couldn’t go anywhere dressed as she was. She had to take things with her, didn’t she? How could he come to her in such a state of panic and expect her to just flee with him.

She watched as he tried to fix his hair, and then check his face. He had to know that she was feeling uneasy about all this. He comes in battered, and bloody. Telling her to trust him and that they must flee. Without any word to her father or anyone.

“Leviticus, your scaring me.” She stated has he practically stormed passed her. Going into the other room. She heard water, and the faint hiss of a growl; perhaps he had touched his face in a manner that caused him discomfort.

He was silent; in fact he did not speak until he entered the room again. He stood before her for a moment, and then looked at her. His words froze her to the very spot that she stood. She could not speak, nor could she think of just what to say to rebut to tell him he was wrong. But the look of panic seemed to unnerve her even more then his words. “Leviticus, I can’t just up an leave my father, the people of Etos. How do you that they will not be killed should we flee here? I can’t….i won’t leave my father to that uncertainty.” She said as she turned to move toward the window. “That you would ask me pains me so.”

It was his words next that struck her to the cord. Her green gaze widened as he told her that he would pretty much knock her unconscious should she remain here. “You wouldn’t dare.” She said, not realizing that the very words had come from her own lips. “Leviticus, I will not leave my father.”

She was still a good distance from him, as he was closer to the door. She had been backing away from him a few inches to a few steps as she spoke. Her haze turned to a slender bookshelf to her left. It would take a few strides to reach it. Dressed in her nightdress she was not bulked down by a heavy gown. She could make it before Leviticus was able to stop her. She would wait until he turned his back to start for the door. When he did she would take that moment and bolt for the shelf. If she reached it she would pass her hand along the stonewall to a loose stone that would to be pushed to gain access to a hidden passage within the room. It was not at all large, in fact it was pretty much slender like Aurelia so that if anyone came into her room aiming to cause her any harm she had an escape. She could have used it to escape with Leviticus but she wanted to get to her father. The shelf took a few seconds to open. It was built on a sting more then a chain mechanism, so that it moved quicker. Since it was not that large of an opening she did not have to worry about timing.

She rushed inside, once again that was if she made it.

So she told him once again that he was scaring her. He wanted to roll his eyes, to pound his fists into the wall. He felt the same as her, but he knew that there was no time to explain, that even now it was trickling away. He glanced at the window as if it would tell him how long they had. Minutes, he guessed, mere minutes before they would be found. If he were killed, then she would be next, there was no doubt about it. If she were found, those near her would be in danger. Her father would try to protect her and he would die, then she would, there simply was no real escape. Even if they fled they would be found, but at least Leviticus could be with Aurelia in their last moments. Now, though, they were going to die and she was going to bring others down with them, he couldn't allow it.

“Aurelia, he is going to DIE if you stay here! How can you not understand that! He will die, and it will be because of you! There is not a damn thing you can do for Etos if it were attacked. It would be wasted life, and that isn't even a worry at this point!” He yelled at her, knowing very well that it might wake those nearby. “How do you think I feel?” He muttered in a helpless, if angry, voice. She told him he wouldn't dare and he bit his lip, uncertain for only a moment. No, he would if he had to, he couldn't be like her, he couldn't break a very important rule he had learned to live by, or do his best to do so. She told him she wouldn't leave her father, and it broke his heart to see her run away from him, but he was faster than her.

He was more athletic than she, and so when she went through the passageway, he was already within' arms reach. Even as he ran, he tugged a gauntlet on, and he blinked away tears that would cloud his vision. He finally got to the point where he could get in front of her if he dove, and he did so. His fist balled, and he tried to strike her so that she would stop running, stop moving. Not in the face, but the side of the head, a place he knew was more likely to make her go into a temporary unconsciousness. The back of the head, the top of the head, were more vulnerable than the side, because of the way he would have to use his fist to hit them. If it didn't knock her out, then it would at least stun her so that he could carry her out. Wasted energy, but he would do it. In that case, he would cover her mouth with his left hand, rip his sleeve, ball it up, and gag her with it. There was no choice, he had to do it.

She had managed to get to the opening when she felt something hit her from behind. She staggered and lost her footing, as the room seemed to distort. Her left hand moved toward the wall she thought was in front of in order to steady her. But she miss calculated just where she was. She had turned a little to far to the right. When she went forward she fell into the bookshelf. Her head striking the third shelve as she went into it. A few books fell to the ground at her side while one fell upon her. There was a time that her father thought her a clumsy girl, and at this moment he would have laughed if the timing had been better.

She fell to her knees. Now fighting against the darkness that came to claim her. Her hand moved toward the bookshelf trying to push herself up. Her foot tangled in the hem of her nightdress. Her hand rose to her temple, something moist greeted her. When she drew her hand back it was then she saw blood, her own blood. She felt alarmed at the sight of it, but it was then that the darkness washed over her. She was not completely unconscious, she felt Leviticus near her. Perhaps lifting her. She possibly made the wrong decision and she felt terrible for it. Having to force Leviticus to take her down in order to save them. It was in those moments that she felt that she had let everyone done. Especially Leviticus.

Leviticus
The Maddened Angel
Leviticus wept openly as he looked down at her, he brushed the hair out of her face and bit his lip. Still, he tore his sleeve off and gagged her with it, not willing to take the chance of her yelling just yet. It was then that Ranson appeared, near furious. “What have you done!” He exclaimed, his eyes dangerous. He was charged with protecting Aurelia, and that's what he would do. The sudden appearance of the wizard startled Leviticus, though, but he didn't let go of Aurelia as he picked her up by her waist and put him over his shoulder. He had a little trouble of it, but lucky for him, she was a light girl. “Well?” He Ranson said, ready to make Leviticus burst into blood if he made the wrong move.

“Who are you? Look, there is no time. If you are trying to protect Aurelia, then help us leave this place. Get us outside of the city, if I do anything strange, kill me. Humor me for pities sake, I love this woman, if she stays here, she and those she loves, will die. If I can get her out, then there will be less death, if any at all.” He didn't bother trying to say that the chances the two of them wouldn't die were small. Somehow, though, what he said made Ransom believe him, especially with the tears and the conversation he had listened in on before then.

“Very well, come here.” The wizard said, stepping in to them, and placing a hand on them. Leviticus' knees very nearly buckled the second the wizard touched him, and he nearly fell and dropped Aurelia when they landed outside of the city. It looked to be quite a distance, also, and on the road. He looked at the noblewoman, and took the gag from her mouth. If she screamed, he could allow it now. He didn't release her though, but put her down and held her wrist tightly in his unarmored hand.
“We have a few minutes.” Was all the angel said.

Her head swam; she could not open her eyes even though she willed them too. Her body trembled, was it her or was she being moved. She wanted to scream but held no voice to do so. She was still unconscious, and yet her mind was fully alert. Did not matter much for there was nothing for her to see nor to do. She had thought she heard another voice before she lost all consciousness, but it was not a voice she could so easily place. Her hand would stir at her side. She was being moved, to where she assumed it was to safety as Leviticus had deemed it important that they do so. But how were they to move through the halls without the guards stopping them. Within word at all to her father, she could not help but think at that moment she was upset at what Leviticus was doing.

A flicker of energy seemed to serge around them. Aurelia’s mind wanted to scream out as she felt the heat grow within her. What was this? She didn’t know that Ranson was there, nor did she think that magic was being used she just felt something foreign in her body. She would only stir slightly awake when she was set upon the ground. She felt the earth solidify under her. Was she able to stand? She was groggy and unsteady as she forced her eyes to blink. “Lev..iti…” was all she managed to get out. Her green eyes had changed at this point. Odd as it would be, the magic used to transport them away had lingered a little to long within her. Making her eyes a strange amber colour, before blinking a few times and them slowly reverting back. “Where….are…”

She could not talk for it hurt too much.

He took note her amber eyes, though he figured his might also be doing the same thing. Magic, he thought, he hated it when he didn't know what it did. He looked up at Ranson, who had his arms crossed. “Clear her up, I had to hit her, as you well know.” He looked down at her with a grimace. When she asked him where they were, he knelt and put a hand on her cheek. “We're safe for the moment, Aurelia. We're outside the city. We'll go back in when it's safe.” He left it unsaid that they might end up safe because they died. “Ranson, there is a very powerful angel after us. An archangel, the angel of wrath.” He told him, hastily. “He wants to kill me for a rule I broke amongst angels, and then Aurelia. The crime is one of love, and if you stay here, and he is too powerful for us, we will all die.” Leviticus nearly laughed like a looney.

Ranson sighed, knelt, put a finger to Aurelia's head, and muttered a few words of magic. The bleeding stopped, and her head should clear up, he thought to himself as he stood again. “Well, my duty assigned by Daekon is to protect Aurelia. However, due to the orc threat and the press of the mages council in Fincayra, I cannot put my life on the line for this lesser mission. Good luck.” He shrugged, and then disappeared, the webs around Aurelia alerting him if she was in trouble already broken, he didn't replace them.

“Aurelia, I am sorry, I had to do it. You were acting irrationally.” He told her, even though he had seemed the irrational one at the time in her eyes, probably still now. She might think he's crazy.

It was hard to focus. Aurelia’s head spun and the pain was so great that even her neck hurt. Had Leviticus hit her? She could not recall what had. She knew she had been running toward the tunnel passage when she felt the darkness swallow her whole. Her amber gaze looked to Leviticus who was talking with Ranson, a man she had meant a handful of times, but did not know well. She had made out a few words but could not figure as to what order they went in. Her eyes closed only to open again, only to figure Leviticus at her side.

~Outside the city gates?~ how? They had been in her room moments prior to her waking here. Or had he knocked her out for several minutes or hours, perhaps a day. She looked to the pair as they spoke. Leviticus seemed stressed, and she was pretty sure that she had much to do about that. He spoke to Ranson, not at all to her. Explaining about some archangel after him. For what he did not really give great detail to. Just that he had done something. Her head still spinning, that was until Leviticus had finished explaining things to Ranson and then ordered him to aid Her.

Ranson did his work and used his magics to heal what he could. She still felt unease once he was finished, for what reason she could not put a finger on it, but it was there. Ranson sounded rather displeased either at having to help them this far or that he was not happy to have to left them. Aurelia wonder if she should have Ranson tell her father to get to safety as well. But he was gone.

A soft floating in her belly seemed to stir as Ranson left them. Her gaze looking at the empty place he once held before turning to Leviticus who was apologizing to her for what….”You did what you had to.” She told him, knowing that he spoke about knocking her out. She would push herself to her feet and stagger a step or two before righting herself.

Leviticus
The Maddened Angel
She stood and spoke to him, there was that much at least. He was surprised she wasn't mad at him, screaming and yelling that some deranged angel had kidnapped her. She didn't appear to be angry with him at all for what he had done, though her words could just be words. He looked around into the night. He judged it to be a couple of hours passed midnight. He could hardly see at all. He took the gauntlet off that he had put on and came to stand before Aurelia. He put his hands on her hips and smiled softly, possibly the last smile she would ever see of his. He wanted at least some of his last memories to be good. He kissed her brow softly and noted that the blood on his own brow had dried now. Leviticus felt like he had done this to her, like he had cut her life short. He put a hand on her stomach, not the same way he had done it before, or the same way Avio had done it.

“I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, Aurelia. But I have been told you are with child. That is the crime I committed, the crime of love. I love you and now you will carry my child because of it. Amongst Angels this isn't allowed, half angels are not allowed. I must fall in love with an Angel, they say, but that won't happen. I've found the one I love, but they would kill us both for it. That's why I brought you out here, if you had gone to your father, he would have tried to protect you with guards and his own life. They would have had no chance against the being coming for us now. We wait now for him to come, because I alone have the chance to stop him. His magic, his strength, far surpass mine, and I am afraid he doesn't really abide by our physics. So, I want to tell you goodbye now, and that when he comes, you need to run. He will find us both, separate or not, and soon. I judged minutes before, now I guess two, maybe three.”

He swallowed the lump in his throat. “So goodbye, my love. I am so sorry for everything. If we make it through this, I swear to love and cherish you.” He smiled gently, regretting time lost. "I will have you, to love and to hold, from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do we part.” He told her those vows. He knew them by heart, he had seen them countless times from above, witnessing the happiest days of some lives. He patted her stomach and drew her close in an embrace, trying not to count the seconds in his head. Rage was building in him, though, rage that would slip unnoticed by Aurelia, even by him at the moment. He didn't want to lose her, he wanted to see them go through the valleys and top the mountains in life. “I love you so much it hurts.” He whispered, kissing her, wondering if she understood.

The darkness that surrounded them seemed to be closing in on them. Why did it feel as if this was the last time they would be together? He was scaring her to the point that she thought she could hear her knees shaking. She had thought to yell at him for hitting her, but he had warred her. She had deserved it, for not listening. She had perhaps taken away precious moments that could have been used to save them, to bring this archangel away from Etos away from her father and the people in the city. She furrowed her brow when he placed his hands upon her hips and drew her to him. She wanted to be mad at him; she wanted to scream at what he was doing to her right now. She wanted to hit him, but she couldn’t. The touch of his lips on her brow seemed to melt her to his calm; if it was indeed calm he was feeling. She did not think so but she gave it to him.

His hand slipped about to stomach she was reminded how Avio had done so. She wanted to shrink away from him but she remained. Her gaze lifted, those emerald green orbs staring at him as he spoke. They grew wider as he told her that she was with child. She felt her knees buckle then her heart quicken in pace. She swayed to the right of him almost falling over at this news, this terrible news. How could she be pregnant? Was it terrible she could not tell? She did not know what to think. Her head was swimming worst now then before. She turned to Leviticus her hands reaching out to him before she collapsed to the ground upon her knees. Overwhelmed by her emotions she could hardly make a sound or utter a word. Her hand covered her mouth as she looked at the ground before her.

This news was followed by his goodbye. His orders to leave him here when this archangel arrived. She could not bring herself to look at Leviticus, shaking her head as she stared at the ground. Her arm was wrapped about her waist, her hand touching her belly that Leviticus had been, her fingers spread wide across it, before she jerked them away. Looking up at him as he explains that he took not defeat this angel. She manages to gain what stable legs she can under her. Before she knew it he was uttering the vows one takes at marriage. Why, oh why was all of this happening now? She looked at him as he moved his hand across her belly once again, and then embraced her. His words caused a shudder of grief to ripple through her that she gave a heart felt sob for a moment. Her eyes wet with tears as she stared at the darkness about them.

Leviticus
The Maddened Angel
Leviticus watched her reactions and sighed. When he was finished saying what he had to say, he let her go. He looked at her for a moment and turned from her. He crouched, waiting, looking off into the sky, towards the city. He wondered if he would see the black outline of his murderer before he came. “Aurelia, I know this is a shock, I know this is sudden, I know I disgust you and that you are mad at me. But I wish you would let me hear your voice again.” He told her, his eyes filling with tears as he looked up and searched. Searched for what? Was he looking up, trying to see, or was he praying? Was this instinct for him, to crouch and pray? Was he searching for an inner calm, a peace that he knew he didn't have. His entire life, a hell, and when it finally becomes bearable he is to be killed. He couldn't bare to look at Aurelia the way she was. He wanted to remember her smile as he died, not the way she clutched her hand to her mouth to keep herself from wailing.

Was his child that bad? The way she had reacted, was it that bad? It would be the death of them, sure, but shouldn't it still be a beautiful thing? He wanted to vomit. He felt sick, exhausted, and he hurt all over. He needed to sleep, he needed rest, and he would get it for eternity after this, he thought. Perhaps Aurelia would go to some sort of heaven, and he would return to the light and then be obliterated for his sins. He didn't doubt it, but he found himself unable to help the events that had slipped by his fingers. Up until now he had never really grabbed hold of his own life. He looked over his shoulder to the one he loved.

She hadn't uttered a word since telling him he had done what he had to. It was something an officer told their soldier, not something a lover said to another. “I'll miss you.” He whispered, rubbing his tears away, he didn't stand, he didn't want to stand. What was the use in fighting the inevitable? Aurelia, of course. He would fight heaven, hell, and everyone else in this world if it was to save Aurelia. He may not win the fight, but he would sure as hell try. He stood up, and grunted when the pain in his ribs touched him. He would ignore the pain, he had to, he would grasp that inner calm, even if she despised him. As he looked up, he saw some of the stars wink out. In flight, and headed towards them. Minutes had trickled away, now they had seconds. He looked at her, taking her in, as she was, hoping she would run when he told her to. But what good would that do? None, he understood, even as the shadow moved across the stars. Two divine beings, and only one of them were in the right, a fight to decide who was right. Leviticus knew he would die, but he was resigned to it, unafraid of it. He would fight until his body was rent to pieces.

Aurelia stood silent, too silent. She didn’t know what to do or what to say. Everything was such a mess at this moment. If she could talk to her father to confide in Moria, anyone at that moment she would. She looked over at Leviticus still in disbelief at the news she had recently received. Leviticus was crouched not to far from where she had collapsed upon news that she was with child. His child. In all her despair at the fact that things were coming to an end she had reacted poorly. She was young, Leviticus had to give her that much. She reacted in a way that was unbecoming of her or any Romulus. Looking at Leviticus it broke her heart to think that she had mere seconds to be with him. Without a word or thought she ran toward him, her arms thrown over his back as he had stood. She clung to him as if he were life itself. Her hands clutched handfuls of his shirt. Her body pressed against his back, she only reached half way, but she did not care. She did not wish to be without his touch even if he forced her to flee. She would not leave him to his death alone. She felt that he had been alone for far to long for her to abandon him now.

“I love you Leviticus. I always will.” She said the last part trailing off into a whisper. Her head rested against his mid back. “I’m sorry….” She did not think she needed to ask forgiveness; there was little time apparently for her to dwell on it. She would turn him to face her. Without thinking she would then take his hands in her own and place them upon her abdomen. “It was no crime you committed, they are wrong. I would bore a thousand children if it meant that they were of you.” It sounded silly when she heard it, but she hoped he understood what she meant. “I will not leave you. I love you far to greatly to allow that.”

Leviticus
The Maddened Angel
Leviticus wiped the tears out of his eyes one last time and hooked the brass knuckles on his left hand. He flexed the hand to make sure he lost little movement in it, and while he couldn't spread his fingers as much as he normally could, it didn't really matter. He heard running behind him, and was grateful when it was Aurelia clutching herself to him. He patted her hand with his free one, the tears on his hand evident, and then he reached behind him and drew his right hand gauntlet after she pressed his hands to her abdomen. He looked her in the eyes, happy, content. Her statement, which would have normally warranted a joke, made him smile softly, relieved. True, she was young, but many woman married younger than eighteen, and bore children as early as sixteen. Still, he could not fault her for a little bit of anxiety, he ran his finger tips through her hair so the metal from the knuckles wouldn't touch her, and let her go. “Then, at least don't try to help me. You will need your strength to defend yourself if I fall.” He told her, nudging her away a little. He walked away from her, about five meters, before he heard wings, and then the sound of heavy feet hitting the ground.

Padron looked bad, to say the least, his fighting experience involved demons and the dead. Even so, he had met few who could weave spells the way those wizards had. He had woven healing spells around himself, though, and so aside from bruises and blood, he looked fine. He wasn't near one hundred percent, but he didn't need to be. He looked at the fallen Angel before him, and shook his head. “You've damned the human girl, and the children she would carry. I need not repeat all of your sins and transgressions, we both know them. On your knees, child, offer your neck so that this will be quick. You may yet be forgiven.” The Arch Angel said. It wasn't mercy that compelled him to do so, but protocol, his voice was kind, however, sorry for the kin he would lose this day. But still, the mission had to be fulfilled, no matter who got in the way or who was hurt, such was law.

“Where were you when I fell, then? There was no help for me, nothing I could do. Was that design? Was it intended that I be forced to commit those crimes? I will not die on my knees. Your will is strong, as one of the Upper angels, but even so I will fight you.” Leviticus was forced to retort. He knew it wasn't his fault, he had to do it, but if only he had some sort of compassion to stop himself, to go against the rules. He knew Pahadron wouldn't though, so he didn't bother. His armored fist clamped down around his sword, and the exhaustion and aches he endured was forgotten. The metallic ring as he drew it filled the night, but he knew his act of protest would win him nothing.
Pahadron had known the transgressions of the one called Leviticus would be shrugged off by him, so her turned to the girl, hoping at the core of him that she could stop him. “You are the child bearer, yes. Get him to kneel, and you will both be ended quickly. If you resist and you die, only fire will cleanse you.” He told her, hoping the threat would scare her. She was young after all, and pretty, though not quite as beautiful as an angel, but for a human, definitely attractive. Still, Leviticus should have known better.

The Lesser couldn't give up like that, no, even if given a merciful judgment, it wouldn't matter without Aurelia. He charged towards his superior and swung his sword, knowing that even though Pahadron wasn't holding a weapon, it would be parried by magic. And so it was, he was halted half way to the large angel, and thrown to his back. He noted from the grunt that came from Padron, that his magical energies were nearly expended. He hadn't rested in his search, had flown into a nest of dragons, and then come after Leviticus. They were by no means equally matched, but at least he wouldn't be killed before he could leave a second scar on the divine being before him. He rolled as a large sword slammed into the ground where he had been moments before, it penetrated rock and went all the way through as if it were air, he noted as he came to stand. As soon as he did through, he was grabbed by the neck. The larger angel could fit his entire hand around Leviticus's neck, and that alarmed him as he felt it clamp around him. So this was it, then...

“For your sins, I commit you to darkness.” Padron said, pulling his sword back to thrust it through Leviticus. The angel didn't panic as much as Padron though he would, though, and so instead of grabbing his hand to get him to release the vice, he lifted his sword and chopped at the arm holding him by the neck. The Arch Angel felt it chip at his skin, but it didn't cut through, it enraged him, and so instead of releasing Leviticus, he clamped his hand down harder. Even the divine weapon Leviticus used could not penetrate his skin, not at that angle at least, as it was hard as a trees bark. This time, when he clamped, Leviticus went limp, dropping the sword from his grip. It seemed as if he had totally crushed his neck with the way Leviticus instantly stopped moving. But Padron could sense the life still within' the Angel, so he didn't release him, knowing it for what it was – a trick. The sword he held started forward to gut the helpless angel, but instead struck his torso and didn't go through. A moment of confusion, and then a shock.

Padron, as disciplined as he was, released Leviticus, who picked up his sword, equally perplexed, and readied himself for the next round. He had lost the first because he had been thrown off balance, something he had shown Aurelia could be fatal. It wouldn't happen again, and this time it was the Arch Angel who was off his balance, continuously getting shocked by something. Leviticus charged forward and jumped through the air to kick Padron in the face. A burst of speed and strength from his sword allowed him to kick off the angel, putting him further off his balanced, and flip high into the air. He curled himself up in the air and drew his knife, and then when his flip came to face Padron, he uncoiled, flicking the knife out at near maximum velocity into the eye of the greater angel. With the spells Leviticus had used from his, it might have done as much to shatter a normal humans skull and imbed the knife in his brain, but Padron was no human, and so it moved him back a couple more steps before he righted himself, the knife protruding from his eye.

“Hell will be a very fine place for you, Leviticus!” He yelled, beyond pissed at the circumstances. His head hurt something fierce, and the fiery burn in his eye shot waves of agony throughout his body, but he would live, the wound for him wasn't mortal. He tore the weapon from his eye and threw it at Leviticus so that the hilt would hit him. The strength used could break the lesser angels skull, but he rolled to the side and out of harms way. “I don't know all the death magic you employ, boy, but you will burn for it!” He yelled, and charged forward, so fast that he seemed to teleport from one place to the next. A fist was flung out into Leviticus's chest, a blow that broke ribs and sent him flying backwards, without so much as a chance to dodge, parry or block it. He didn't stand again, and his sword flew backwards seven to ten meters as it was released from his hand. He himself rolled to a stop seven meters from his sword, and ten from where he had been standing. He didn't so much as groan. A lightning bolt shot out from the sky and hit Pahadron squarely as he marched slowly to the fallen angel, and stooped him. A ball of flame followed from a dismembered hand and hit the greater angel is the torso, blasting him backwards and on fire. That would stop him, for a time, Ranson thought.

Ranson wasn't wrong, either. Though he didn't possess a fifth of the power the conjoined priests and wizards who had fought Pahadron before had, the greater angel was so weakened he didn't have the magic to ward him off. It gave Ranson time to kneel, press his fingers to Leviticus's neck, and find no pulse. By the time he stood, so was Pahadron. He didn't wait for the angel to recover fully, and struck out with a flurry of spells, lightning, flame, ice, acid, wind, and even bolts of magic. Enough spells to devastate hundreds, meant for war, as he was a War Wizard, and still Pahadron got back up, the flames dying, the acid stopped working, the ice breaking, the shocked and should-be seared nerves recovering. Ranson himself was near spent, and he didn't have any back-up coming. Pahadron was beyond words, however, and it seemed that even though he moved, it was delayed. Ranson wasn't skilled with a weapon, even clumsy, but he searched Leviticus frantically and found the katar and drew it. He put it in between his knuckles fast, and strode towards the greater angel. Delayed reactions saved him as he jumped with all of his might, being very little due to his lack of any great muscles, and shoved the katar using his fist through the broken shields placed on the angel skin, and into the front of his neck. Even so, a fist shot up into his face and dropped him to the ground, he too, didn't stand.

Pahadron was now mortally wounded, he could not heal himself, he could not fly as all of the feathers had been burnt and destroyed, even his denial of physics seemed cut off. His muscles were burned, and the majority of his flesh was torn off by a storm of magic that, between the wizards and death priests linked together, and Ranson. His will was mighty though, and so he was able to take a step forward before his legs crumpled underneath him. He crawled then, and he made it two feet before his body gave out and he slumped to the ground. Prone, he moved inch by agonizing inch towards Ranson, and finally he made it to him. The katar, still imbedded in his neck, was drawn out slowly by his own hand, and as he was about to thrust it through Ranson's temple, his arm fell uselessly in defeat. Still, he moved so that one huge, destroyed arm was on top of Ranson's stomach before he died.

Ranson, unconscious, didn't move at all, his nose shattered and his cheek bones broken, he would live so long as his wounds were tended to in the next week, which meant he would live without a doubt as he would probably only be out for a couple hours. Leviticus lay there, his stomach didn't rise or fall, and his chest didn't thump with the beat of a heart. His pulse wasn't even so much as weak, but totally gone, the cracks in his chest and the bones sticking out part way would tell anyone who saw him why he was dead by all appearances. Perhaps his ribs had pierced his heart, but when the thump of his heart returned, a minute or two after the blow which had felled him, that obviously wasn't so. His eyes didn't flutter open though, and it seemed as if, even though the punch had only stopped his heart momentarily, he would not live to see the morning which was coming in only four hours. Had his body just given too much in one night?
