Onir had been wandering the forest one afternoon as he often did. The sky took a particularly beautiful orangeish glow as the sun had begun to set. Onir found a spot close by a stream. " Peeerfect! " the Bard thought to himself. He made a fire and took out a kettle which he filled with water from the nearby stream. He placed some leaves inside the kettle that he had kept with him in a pouch. The kettle had a ring on the top of it, allowing it to be suspended by a stick over the fire much like a fishing pole. Onir suspended the kettle over the fire in order to warm the contents of the kettle for drinking "Ah, high grade tea, straight from the best store in Trevena... A beautiful sunset, and the sound of stream water close by... what more could you ask for?" Onir said to himself as he began to sing a tune titled "The Lake Isle of Innisfree". It was a song adapted from a poem about being alone in a serene lake isle, peaceful and calm, hearing lake water lapping and birds' wings fluttering... Edited by Onir, Nov 3 2009, 06:10 PM.

The calm soothing tones of the forest were at times a blessing. Selphia had often been so plagued with thoughts that she needed the serenity of the woods to keep her sane. It was at times like these that she felt that she was best alone. The thoughts of others seemed to always linger a little too long in her mind. Over the years she had collected thousands upon thousands of thoughts that belonged to just about anyone she had come across. Conversations she had heard, and information shared by passersby. Her brother Galeon was the only one that knew just what these trapped thoughts did to his sister, so he made sure she had the peace and quiet that she needed. She had found a clearing. In which she simple paced waiting for her brother to return. He had gone to scout the area for food and a place to build a fire and get some much-needed rest. As well as scout the roads ahead so they knew the best way to travel without any hassles. She took to pacing. Her steps carried her in countless circles. Retracing steps as she uttered quietly to herself something foreign. Her pale gaze only drew upward when she took in a deep breath. Her nostrils filled with the scent of burning wood. Her head tilting to the side as she saw the glorious glowing light that she knew only belonged to a fire. Her curiosity was perked and she started toward it. Making sure that she was not being tricked by her brother, having made a fire and hidden himself so he could scare her. Very adolescent of him, she had thought and told him with a hard hit to his forearm and silence for an entire day. She neared the fire, the scent of the wood got stronger. Her pale eyes looked through the thickets as she stepped up behind a brier bush. She was able to remain hidden or so she thought. Her pale features were rather hard to hide at times, but since the sun was well pass the trees, she had no free of giving herself away. As she knelt down, she heard soft humming then singing. She was always fond of singing. She tilted her head and listened from her spot behind the brier bush. |

Onir hadn't noticed that anybody was watching him, so he continued on as normal. After a moment, he moved the stick that the kettle had been hanging on away from the fire, and Onir opened the top of the pewter kettle. He looked inside to see how much more brewing his tea would need. He decided it was done so he set the stick, and the kettle down.Onir opened up his sack that he had brought the leaves in and took out a matching pewter cup to the kettle. The cup was rather small, as it was a tea cup, after all. He poured himself a lightly steaming cup of tea and took a sip. "Ah, wonderful." He said to himself.

The scent of the ever it was the man was making traveled to Selphia’s place behind the brier bush. Her semi bent form rose slightly and moved toward a nearby tree that was nestled to the right of the bush. Once she was safely behind it she peered out, but only enough that only one eye was trained upon the man. Her fingers spread out against the rough bark of the tree. She would lean to the right, making sure she remained steady so that she did not topple over and the man attacked her for spying. Her thoughts raced as to what he could be making. It was favoured drink of sorts that she knew when he poured what the small kettle held into a small mug. She was not at all neither thirsty nor hungry, so her interest here was strictly just curiosity. Timid as some might think that she was, she was not. She was curious by nature, and her instability made that even more so. Her approach at times could be worked upon in order to make people more at easy with her. Sneaking about was the best way that she felt that she could approach. For she did not know if this person was part of a raiding party, or a merchant looking to score a expensive gem. Slowly she would peer further out to the point that she realized that the sun was gone and the firelight was all that lit the area where the man was. She would approach him, but in the direction that he could see her straight on. Her robes still firmly in place, hood about head, hung slightly over her brow. Pale eyes regard the man, as she approach she would clear her throat to announce herself. |

Onir had been drinking tea for quite some time now, as the sun had gone down. The transition from day to night wasn't very gradual, as Onir had not had his fire going for long before the stars, the moon, and the fire were the only sources of light visible. Onir re-filled his cup of tea and took another sip. Suddenly, he saw a robed figure walk towards him from out behind the surrounding foliage. The person seemed like they were not hostile. They didn't have the look of a bandit or a cutthroat of any sort, so Onir looked up from his cup of tea and said, "Hello. A wonderful night tonight, isn't it?"

Selphia made her way slowly toward the man and his small fire. Sure it was entirely too dark. He saw her for he spoke. Perhaps she should have gone for a more direct approach. At that very moment she figured he would be reaching for a dagger or a blade, for what person wouldn’t. Here he was in the woods, drinking tea of all things. Surely he was armed. One could never be so sure when traveling alone. She furrowed her brow at that last thought. She was pretty much in the same boat. “Yes it is a wonderful night.” She said, her pale gaze lifted briefly to the darkening sky then back to Onir. “Is it wise to sit so complacent when you are alone in the dark with only a fire to light the darkness?” Sure they were simple words, but never was a truer word spoken. In a moment of clarity, as Selphia’s thoughts these days seemed to lack. She would come closer to his fire before coming to a halt. Her hands released one another from within the folds of her sleeves. Pallor they were, which in the dark were easy to note. She quickly tucked them behind her back and stood looking upon the man, studying him. |

Onir smiled at the stranger's question. He didn't have to think too much before he had an appropriate answer formulated. "Well, that just depends on who you are. If you are referring to myself, then It's not a matter of wisdom. More often than not, the darkness offers more protection to me than light does for me. If any form of miscreant or rogue of the night were to attack me, I'd be fully capable and ready to defend myself. Would you like a cup of tea?" |

Selphia stood still for a moment. Her gaze cast to the left then to the right of the camp. “You would trust the darkness. In the darkness people only find more darkness, it is never ending.” She tilted her head to the side and looked at his offering of a drink of tea. “tea?” Taking a few more steps she made her way closer to the fire. Her frost colour eyes look carefully about his little encampment. “You live here?” It was a simple question. She figured he would laugh at her, but it was possible for him to live here. For the forest belong to all, and yet to none, Nature had a strange way about it. Studying the man as she carefully closed the gap between them. She gestured to a small log that had been over turned. “Might I?” She asked, wishing to sit. She would sit before he replied whether she could. She figured that it would be fine since she was harmless. |

"Do I live here? Well, sometimes. It depends on the day. I'm a Traveling Bard by profession, so I travel all through Avalon, sometimes sleeping in inns, sometimes sleeping in caves or trees, sometimes not sleeping at all." Onir nodded his head when the stranger asked if they could sit down on the log. "Tea. It is pretty much herbs in steaming water. It tastes really good and a lot of people say it's quite healthy. It's a foreign drink. I have an extra cup if you'd like some." |

Selphia stood looking at the man, furrowing her brow. She knew what tea was she was not stupid. She smirked, as the man must think her a simpleton. She looked down at her hands then down each arm, then over her shoulder. Yes everything was where it should be. No second head, nor wings sprouting from her back. She returned her pale gaze to the man. She continued to make herself a seat upon the log. “It smells divine.” In the bat of an eye the topic was changed and Selphia seated herself before Onir. Her pale features trapped beneath her hood. “So you’re a bard? I have heard that bards are often used to spy? Are you a spy?” |

Onir pulled a second cup out of the pouch and and began pouring some lightly steaming tea from the kettle into the glass. As he did this he said, "Spy? I've never heard of people using Bards to spy myself. However, if I was a spy, I'd be an awfully bad one if I were to answer that question with anything other than a 'no'. " As Onir finished his last few words, he held out the second cup to his new found company. |

"Aye but to deny it, and give a long pause would confirm that you perhaps are...a spy." She told him as she extended her hand toward the offering of a mug of tea. She would bring it to her lips. first sniffing it. As if to test for a hint of possible poisons and such. She figured by the look of the man that he was just a meer bard, a true bard, one of stories and songs. Not a double crossing back stabbing bard that was a spy first and bard second. Her pale gaze glistened with firelight as she turned her attention to her host. "Have you many stories?" |

"Stories? Well, I know ballads, if you consider those stories. I am the type of bard that sings. I sing songs as opposed to plucking instruments, reciting poems, or telling stories. Although, if you want to get down to it, my voice is my instrument, my lyrics are my poems, and my ballads are my stories." Onir replied. He lightly sipped his cup after he finished. |
