If one more wave rocked this boat, Morgana was going to hurl. If she would have had the option of turning around, she gladly would have, just so she could repay that damn fool who had suggested that she take the ship to Tintagel in the first place.

"Fincayra is too well guarded with magic," he had said. "You'd be better off in the capital city. You'd only have to outsmart the knights, and they're just about brute force." It had sounded like such a good idea when he put it that way. And then the boat had left the dock and instead of entering calm water in the open ocean, it had been tossing back and forth for hours.

Her grip tightened on the railing as she looked out on the turbulent waters and the ship swayed with yet another wave. Breathe, just breathe. Being already fair of skin, her face was probably even now drained of color. How long had he said this journey was supposed to take?

"I swear to the gods, if I ever see him again, I'll kill him," she muttered as the wind blew her long ebony locks across her face for the umpteenth time.

If there was one thing Bly was not particularly fond of to begin with it was sailing, and even more now that the fickle waters were frothing violently. He didn't get nausea or feel the growing need to hurl that likely threatened to overwhelm the self control of the other passengers. No... what he didn't like about the open sea was the growing feel of absolute helplessness that the changing weather brought; he knew nothing of how to survive on the ocean, such matters had to be left to the hands of the crew and their bellowing captain. The light waned and the clouds seemed to grow blacker with each passing moment and the horizon was becoming difficult to even make out in the dim. He scratched his head and looked down upon the rolling waves crashing into the strong hull of the vessel. Perhaps it would have been best to simply try and teleport across the ocean. It was skill he was pitiful at when it came to such lengths between destinations. He was just as likely to end up buried in a mountain as he was to get where he wanted to go. Most of the others had decided to get out of the wind and gone into the hold for some cover. There was of course a few of the 'dashingly brave' (or perhaps insane) souls who just enjoyed this type of weather. His eyes scanned over the deck and to his pleasure a fair maiden was hanging over the railing. She looked positively horrid, really, mouth ready to go agape and release whatever was in her stomach... and nonchalantly he walked over to her.

"Enjoying the sights?" It was a statement dripping to the floor with sarcasm and a kind of sick humour received out of the suffering of another. If a word could be used to describe it, 'empathetic' wouldn't come to mind. "Haven't quite broken in the sea legs yet have you?"

Jackass. That worked.

Oh great, an audience! Could her day possibly get any worse? And he seemed to be laughing at her as well. Great, another ass in the same day. "Lovely," she quietly muttered to herself.

Taking a deep breath and concentrating on not puking, she brushed her hair back and turned to look at the man who had addressed her. She bit off her sharp retort, surprised to find that he appeared younger than she did. And not only that, he had purple eyes!

"They would be much more enjoyable if they didn't sway the ship so much. And I'm certainly not concerned about sea legs when I don't plan to ever step foot on one of these cursed things again? I don't see why people would actually choose to travel like this?" she replied. "You don't seem too affected," she nodded in his direction. "Evidently your sea legs have been broken in just fine." He wanted to be an ass, she could come back with just as much disdain.

She had some venom, though whether that was attributed to the rocky sea or to his own 'good-humour' was a toss of the coin. Both. He took a good look at her, and she hardly seemed the type well suited to any sort of travel. Maybe she was a pampered 'princess' or something. But then why be alone on a ship? Whatever her misfortune it doesn't affect me any. "Most likely they would be more pleasant, but then there's no fun in the world if everything is harmonious." As if saying that the storm was in any sense fun was likely to get him on her good side, but then his introduction probably accomplished that lofty goal already. "And it's not so much a choice as a requirement. Unless you happen to have a wizard you can pull out of your pocket." Perhaps if they were a halfling they would fit.

"I might just be made of stronger stuff than you and so do not get nauseated very easily. Or show it." Or he'd just been through a worse storm than this one. "I can tell you clearly like me." Half a laugh right there. "So I am willing to offer a bit of advice for dealing with mother nature's foul mood. You can either drink a putrid concoction whose origins, I might add, are for debate, that the sailors have on ship to deal with your... circumstances--" A boyish grin grew on his face, "--or you can distract yourself."

His enjoyment was however giving way to pity. Bly had this experience notched several times on his belt before it ceased to bug him. His knuckles cracked as he stretched his fingers back. "What will it be, miss?"

Ahh, something they could agree on, at least when it came to things other than storms at sea, there really wasn't any fun in the world if everything was harmonious. Certainly no work either. "Of course if I had a wizard, it wouldn't be a problem, because I wouldn't be on this thing in the first place."

She raised her eyebrows to show her skepticism. Made of stronger stuff? This child had absolutely no idea what she had been through. Cast him the same lot and see just how strong he is. And he was certainly being more than generous assuming that she clearly liked him. The only thing that could have even given him that idea was that he wasn't swimming or dead yet. That would have been too drastic in such a public place for a mere annoyance.

Her disdain at the thought of having to drink anything that the sailors had concocted, whether or not it would help with her uneasy stomach, was obvious. Then, she saw his grin and fought not to groan. As he continued, she couldn't help but smirk. It was just as she had suspected. Brushing her hair behind an ear, to show the noticeable--although slight--point, she replied with an amused smile, "And just what would you suggest I do to distract myself?"

Wizards. Never really there when you needed them. Such a peeve. That and being turned into a toad. "No sense lamenting the absence of a finger waver at your disposal." She didn't seem to believe he was made of anything particularly stern. Hark, to the days of bone breaking. Hell of a time getting your ass handed to you daily for hours on end by warriors who enjoyed the fact. Though maybe they were just happy to finally mete it out on somebody else. 'If I had to do it, so do you'. He spied her ear, not that it wasn't obviously intentional. Bly wasn't about to try and smugly point out of the obvious. She had some elf blood in her, which was funny because she didn't look like she was about to hug any trees.

Stereotypes aside. "Oh there are many things you can amuse yourself with. The problem is finding something that will last longer than the storm." His right hand nimbly began to play with a shiny silver coin. Bly thought maybe he should introduce himself since he'd been hounding her now, but he felt no need and didn't really care for propriety. They were on a ship, maybe not even going the right way. "Games. Discussion. Or you could lend a hand to the brave sailors trying to keep this jug for capsizing." As if to deflect any dis-puritanical undertones.

He wasn't quite the type. There was one question he had lingering in his mind. Why cross the sea? She didn't seem the venturing type.

A finger waver? Heh. Well at least after his initial tank of a first impression, he had begun to show something a sense of humor. And of course, he had noticed her ear and should have been able to discern a part of her bloodline. Did he have any more of an idea that she was more than likely much older than him?

He was right finding something to last longer than the storm would be an issue. At his mention of the storm, she realized that while she had been verbally parrying with him, he had served as an acceptable distraction, her stomach hadn't been churning as relentlessly as the water below them. His suggestion of helping the crew threw her. Was he seriously suggesting that or just trying to cover for an ulterior motive? "I'd be more of a hindrance than a help. I don't care for manual labor when it can be avoided." Not to mention that they were trying to do something with the sails right now. Heights and unsteady conditions? Not a mix she wanted to chance.

"I suppose conversation wouldn't be so bad." Eying the sea once more, she added, "Perhaps below deck."

Age was such a transient thing it really didn't matter to the young man. How much you lived was far more important, and as far as he was concerned he'd had enough to fill one lifetime already--now he was just going for broke. Bly put his eyes to the sky in the pause. It wasn't getting any better but it wasn't growing steadily worse anymore, which was a disguised blessing. Good. The very last thing I wanted today is to try and escape a typhoon. "It's for the better. You'd likely distract one and we'd have a man overboard, and I don't feel like testing how good I am at swimming." He pushed his hair back. It was wet with spray and at the mention of going below deck he felt a little uplifted. His thirst for the weather was well passed quenched. "Below deck then, m'lady." He chose to forgo bowing.

He made his way over to the hold and opened the door, ducking into a small area that had been modified to hold passengers. As it stood there were about twenty people milling about, so he moved on passed them to a, for lack of a better word... 'cozy' little corner with a few seats and plopped down fairly ungraciously. If one chose to take a closer look they'd find the seats nailed to the boards, for obvious reasons.

"Well." He took a look at her in the dimly lit setting. "Why are you traveling across? Forgive me if the question is too brash... but you don't look the--pedigree, of your regular passenger." That was to put it lightly. This wasn't a high class ferry, most of the people on the passage looked little better than the sailors who crewed it.

Did he just? Well now she knew that he found her attractive. As it was he seemed more amicable and rather less sarcastic now that she had agreed to continue the conversation below deck. Perhaps he was more affected by the storm than he had let on. "I doubt it, they're much too worried about the storm," she replied, awkward at the thought of how to approach the compliment.

She followed him through the hold and slightly nervously through the throng of other passengers. She knew there was a reason why she had been avoiding going below deck. Too many people. Surprisingly, the corner that he led them to was unoccupied. She sat down rather more ceremoniously than he had. Of course he continued their conversation with the most logical question, why was she on this ship? And the way she sat down and probably held herself had given away her class. And here I thought I was blending in.

To find an easier place to thieve from and kill people. Oh yes, that would go over real well. "Perhaps I'm in hiding and you've given me away," she replied conspiratorially, thought it was obvious that it was a joke. "I need a change of scenery. Fincayra was rather...stifling. I'm hoping Avalon City will be a bit more promising." There, a simple answer--vague--but an answer nonetheless. "And you?"

For all it was below deck was at the very least warmer. A welcome comfort. Everyone was rather hush-hush, what discussion to be overheard was not loud. "In hiding, hm? Don't suppose that means I could ransom you?" The comment was meant as a joke, but he realized she may not take it as such. Oh well. "And you say it was stifling?" Now what exactly was stifling? She wasn't about to give him any information though and he didn't feel like trying to pry it out of her. "You wish to know about little old me?" Why was he traveling across the sea. "My reasons were for... visitation of extended family." Even though he hesitated his voice spoke with no hint of deceit. He just had no other way to put it since he somewhat lacked a family tree to show her. It'd just be one mangled mess of ink.

Since he wasn't likely about to get an origin story out of her Bly decided he'd grace her with a little more information, "I'm simply returning home now. From Trevena---what you call Avalon City---I have a good march ahead of me before I will reach the mountain steppes again." While that might have meant something to someone from the continent it would be entirely useless to her... if she was telling the truth.

"I doubt you'll find Avalon any less stifling than Fincayra though. The new King is a hardass." He wondered if she'd be affected by that little statement at all, and spared a moment to study her reaction. She might have been in trouble with the Crown for all he knew, and that would mean trouble for him. Not that he didn't mind trouble--it just had to be worth it.

He hesitated slightly when giving his reason, though it didn't seem like he was making it up, just that there might be a more awkward explanation behind it. Since he had not pursued her own evasion, she returned the favor. "It's always nice to see family again," she replied instead, her eyes glazing over for just a moment. Too bad that wasn't an option for her anymore. There were times that she just didn't realize how much she still really missed them.

"How far are they from the capital city?" Information gathering. Always useful in her profession. And this bit would prove useful if she ever needed a place to lie low. Mountains could always be relied upon to disappear in.

She tried to hide her disappointed frustration. Hopefully, this 'hardass' king wouldn't make her work any more difficult. Unfortunately, kings were much harder to do away with, too well guarded. Though, it would still be better than Fincayra. There would be no memories from her past there. "Well difficult kings aside, it will be a welcome change. Fincayra was getting old."

The fact she was inquiring how far the Cloudsweeps were from Trevena would have normally caused an eyebrow raise but it was unlikely she knew anything about the dangers. "Far, to reach the northern portion of the range requires crossing an expansive forest first. They are to the southwest of the capital, though I don't recommend it as you seem..." He trailed off before he got to a descriptive word, not wanting to insult her sensibilities. You never knew how well criticisms could be taken. "It is a dangerous place. Ogres, orcs... and other... things--that crawl from the myriad of caves and tunnel systems that run underneath the range. If you do make a habit of the journey there is a city known as Preah off the mountains, and the road which runs by it through the mountains to the other side, a lawless and rather useless landscape follows." It was more information than she had asked for, but he felt as a gambler she wanted to dig deeper.

"I can't imagine Fincayra to get old. The sorcerers have a myriad of experiments. Some rather volatile. It can be entertaining." But a city full of bookworms wasn't likely to have much of a rowdy side. The thought of a lady as seemingly poise as her in the seedy areas made him smile. "Unless of course you're after the enjoyments night life has to offer you." He had plenty of reason to speculate. A lady who appeared of noble lineage traveling in such a state, wouldn't she have better accommodations at her disposal?

So the mountains were dangerous, that meant that no one would follow her there. Plenty of caves and tunnels. Though their inhabitants could be a problem. It would be a last resort. "Let me guess, you were thinking...delicate?" She smirked. "Hardly, don't let up there fool you?" She said, eying the boards above them. "I can handle myself very well. Just because I'm upper class doesn't necessarily mean spoiled." She was tired of being underestimated. She wasn't some delicate little flower.

"I'm not so interested in all of the magic. In fact, I tired of it. I'm no scholar." His smile and the words that followed, triggered her own amused smile. "Can you really picture someone like me being interested in that? Those places may have their purpose at times, but I certainly don't make a habit out of it." She only needed to go there when she needed to work through a middleman, or with someone who thought that that was the best place to meet. Though she certainly wouldn't be stupid enough to go there dressed as she was now. "I only stray from the upper class when its convenient. Like with this ship, pay them and they don't ask any questions. If I wanted to travel in style that would have taken at least a month for a suitable ship to come in with proper accommodations and provision of a list of my requirements." She frowned. "Far too much trouble." Not to mention the fact that there would be a record of her on the ships logs with one of those. And if any authorities had any sort of idea, the fact that her style of assassination ceased after a certain upper class lady left the city would certainly arouse suspicion. All she wanted was to start over. To leave all of those painful memories in those familiar places behind, and to have an easier time at her job with less magical securities.

And just because she wasn't spoiled didn't mean she was tough, at least not by the standards he had to measure up to. But that would take far too much explanation and he didn't care for it in the least. "Say what you will, but delicate you certainly look." He leaned back to take in the information she was giving, and he wondered if she was truly thinking through her words. "So you required quick passage without a waste in time and furthermore passage upon which your presence could be reasonably trusted to be secret." Bly grinned. "Yet you left because it was stuffy." He wasn't about to press any questioning, but it was plainly obvious he enjoyed the speculation he was having.

And it certainly put his guard to the edge. If she really was in serious trouble, he could quite possibly be considered liability now.

"Do you enjoy being the cream of the crop? Dances and great galas, where you get to be swung around in a great sweeping dress to the music?" He'd never entered the lifestyle of the higher nobility, though he supposed he might technically be entitled to, he was nonetheless likely to be considered 'uncivilized'. "I am quite curious as to what it's like. All protocol and no freedom like it seems?"

Of course looking delicate had always helped her in the past, no one would suspect her until it was far too late. He was curiously perceptive. He read between the lines well. She opened her mouth to deny it but found herself hesitating, there was no need to insult his intelligence. So instead she asked with an indulgent smile, "And why is it that you suppose I left?" His answer would more than likely be entertaining. He still seemed to think she was made of stronger stuff then her. After all she looked delicate. But oh how appearances can be deceiving.

His next line of question caught her somewhat off guard. No one had ever really asked her that before. Then again, she had never really taken much time to sit down and have much of a conversation with anyone that wasn't work related. "Well...I suppose it has its moments. When you need a distraction, or don't mind the attention." And then a dreamy smile. "The gowns are quite something though." And then the smile faded. "Of course it's much more enjoyable with a partner. And you only have to worry about protocol if you don't want to cause a scandal. But I haven't been to very many events in a long time. I lost the taste for them." Ever since that night. If she wouldn't have gone, maybe he would have still been alive.
