A large black shape moves through the crowds congesting the streets, the large creature'sface hidden by the thick black cloak wrapped around it's body. People of many races are bumped and bounced off of the new person's body as he makes a straight line throug the city. At a height of seven and a half feet tall the stranger stand over all others, even though he tries to make himself seen as little as possible.

Someone tripps over a large foot, wrapped in a crude leather boot. The large shape moves on, unwilling to help those who stand in his way. A guard makes his way to the larg creature, but hangs back not sure of what to do. The man in the cloak stopps, turns to his right and moves down a side street a dark red tail flicks from under the cloak to reaturn a second later. The guard jumps at the sight and follows.

Dralero was struggling to get a rather noticable blood stain out of his sleeve, the only physical marking on his person that gave off the idea that he'd been involved in a heated struggle with another. He had indeed ended another man's life tonight, but paid no attention to that thought. He never reminisced about anything, let alone the numerous lives he'd ended in the past. The confrontation that he'd been involved in tonight had drawn the attention of a sizeable portion of the city guard, so to avoid becoming a suspect, he was sitting on the roof of a towering stone church. It was quite ironic that he'd chosen to come here, of all places, to remain until he felt it was safe to move on.

Still, it was comforting to know that he was no longer in any immediate danger. His target was dead, and here he was, trying to remove the man's blood from his dark-colored tunic. His hood was, as it always was, pulled low over his eyes as to mask his identity. Not that any commoner knew who he was by name, but he was sure that his appearance would give him away.

Footsteps.

He picked his head up, squinting against the intensity of the sunlight. He craned his head to the side and brought himself to his feet. With one hand against the dark, cold stone of the church's steeple, he gazed down at the ground below. A man, fitted in a black coat was being pursued by an armed and armoured guard. Dralero was quite high off of the ground, so he was able to spectate the chase from above, moving along the roof in the general direction of the two men. He saw now that the pursued had a tail. He blinked. Twice. Sure enough, the man in the coat had a tail.

He'd never seen a being such as this one before. The man was quite a sight, though he, too, was hooded. Dralero couldn't help but watch in awe as the pursuit stretched on, past the church. He decided to follow and see how this played out...

Aklixxar detested humans above all else, as he walked his gauntleted fist pressed against his chest. The scar the Hunter had given him was still on his breast, many years after the altercation. Three days after he had left his siblings, the diamond dagger that now hung from his belt was stabbed into his chest. Now another human wants to follow me, he shall die like the other!"

Turning into a small alcove the large man dissapeared from view, the guard still walking slowly down the side street. The poor man was unaware of the death that was to greet him as soon as he..."NOW! The voice in Aklixxar's skull screamed.

The natural claws that were encased in steel bit into the soft skin under the guards chin, with a quick flik of the wrists the humans jaw was torn from his face. The sword that the guard had been holding clattered to the ground, and with the last few seconds of life he tore backthe hood of Akilxxar's cloak.

The Lizardmans face twisted in a sick smile as the terror welled then died in the guards eyes. A thick rumble that was laughter started then abruptly stopped, there was another human somewhere near. The Crimson One could smell the wretched scent, his head snapped upwards and his eyes found the human.

The events that unfolded before his very eyes were quite difficult for Dralero to believe. The confrontation ended in a bloody mess, with half the guard's face torn off by the lizard-man's clawed appendage. The unfortunate soul fell to the ground unmoving; if he wasn't dead yet, he would be soon. Nobody, not even a hardened man such as a city guard would have been able to survive an attack like that. Dralero thought about calling out to the beast, but immediately realized how foolish that would be. Instead, he started to back away from the edge of the roof, and to his surprise, the lizard seemed to have heard him.

He backed away from the edge, holding his hand out to his side. When it came into contact with the steeple, he grabbed onto one of the protruding stones to catch his balance. He craned his head around, looking for the nearest possible escape route.

There was none.

The building nearest the church was a large tenement. The window, frameless, was about four feet wide and five feet high. He walked towards the opposite edge of the roof, figuring that there was about ten feet between himself and his window of opportunity - to put it in a literal fashion. If he missed his mark, he'd fall to the ground, which was more than sixty feet below him.

Still, breaking every bone in his body was better than being mauled by a seven-foot-tall reptile.

Without a second though, he took a running leap off of the roof, arms outstretched...

The human saw my face, I must stop him before he fetches more guards! The Lizardman was in a panic, he did not want to take more lives than he had to. Looking around at the buildings closest to him he found a boarded up shop and dove in through a broken window.

Dashing from room to room, the black cloak flapping around and tail whipping from side to side Aklixxar ran through the forgotten building. getting to the other side the Lizardman dove through another window, overshooting the street and bashing into the stone wall of another shop.

Shaking his head and placing a hand on the wall Aklixxar tried to clear the fog from hismind, then one thought drove through the mist and made him start running again "The Human!" Aklixxar took off as if his tail was on fire and he had no where to run, glancing quickly around he junged upward.

The Lizardman's tail wrapped around a stone balcony support and he swung up to the landing, another jump took hin to the low roof of the second floor of the house. Dashing across the ceramic tiles was as loud as the fireworks that dotted the sky on human celibrations. Nearing the end of the roof the Crimson One looked to the next building, just as the human he was tracking was flying through the air towards the same roof.

With a grunt Aklixxar launched himself off of the roof towards the other building just shy of ten feet away.

He caught onto the side of the window, and it took a surprisingly small amount of energy to hoist himself up into the room. He landed on his back, but got to his feet in a rather graceful manner, which was less than what could be said about his jump. Realizing that the tenement was empty, he ran for the wooden door opposite him. Putting all his strength into his left bicep, he burst through the door, which had been locked, and wound up in the hallway.

All around him, other tenement doors began to open in near-unison, the residents of the building bearing bewildered expressions upon their faces. Shouts of confusion, fright, and even anger followed him as he proceeded down the confined, decripit corridor. He swung his right arm out in front of him to push past a small group of awe-struck men and women, having to perform a full spin to evade one of the men's open arms. The man most likely mistook him for a thief, hence his feeble attempt of capturing Dralero. He accidentally knocked down an elderly woman in the process, but instead of apologizing to her, began to descend the wooden staircase, taking two steps at a time to keep one step ahead of his pursuer.

Helena heard those around her prattle on about a man as she walked down the hallway looking at each person along the way. Before she knew what hit her she was knocked back into the wall by a falling elderly woman who she attempted to catch but was only taken down with her. Seeing the man flee down the steps she helped the poor old woman back to her feet before taking off after him. She didn't know why she was being so rash and chasing down this gentleman who was obviously dangerous. She was a singer not a guard yet still her feet carried her down the steps.

Her fingers grasped the banister of the steps for a moment, for a moment as she flew down the steps she felt as if she were having an out of body experience. That she had left her body and watched herself dashing after the man with her hand clinging to her skirt. It was then that she watched at the bottom of the steps that the world around her slowed down and her body collapsed. Opening her eyes she was back in place again gasping for air, her heart racing madly as she choked and coughed violently trying to get some air into her lungs.

Her whole body hurt like it was shutting down, like she was dieing again. The voices from her past yelled to her in her mind as pictures of that dreadful night flashed through her head, 'Couldn't you see...couldn't you see....I loved you...I loved you, you whore.' using the banister she pulled herself back up, her red dress splayed out around her in a disarray, the straps falling off her shoulder as she continued after the man still choking. Putting a hand over her mouth she coughed something up into her hand but kept running and ignoring the warmth in her mouth.

She felt dizzy but that didn't matter, this gentleman had knocked over an innocent old woman and had probably done worse then that to get him running in the first place. Why was she risking her life to play hero, that was so unlike her. Now that she was alive she should cherish the life she had rather then be in such a hurry to go back, or did she want to go back? Putting her hand out she yelled to him, "You there stop, how rude, how shameful, pushing poor women about like you own all of Avalon."

While in the iar the Lizardman looked at the building he was to land on, not the most sturdy of places. It seemed rather old and made from wood, not stone as the other had been, a problem in the making. Red eyes followed the path of his foot as Aklixxar fell through the air, then landed on a wooden beam. The thing held fast.

"HA!"

The sound from the beast's throat was only a fraction of a second sooner than the sound of cracking wood. The section of the roof gave way under the four hundrede and fifty pounds of Lizardman that had crashed down onto it. Aklixxar grabbed a beam, only to have it snap off in his gauntleted hand.

"Oh Hell!"

Words that could not be heard over the sound of cracking wood as the topmmost of the three floors gave way under the dead falling weight. Finaly Aklixxar came to a stop on the second floor. Standing up and shaking his head the Lizardman stepped onto the stariway, the wooden stariway.

Once again the sound of cracking wood blasted through the air along with an obsenity from the crimson scaled falling figure. Each time a stair broke a nail punched into Akixxars scales, tearing small peices of skin underneith.

Clawing his way out from under the pile of broken boards and bent nails with a constant stream of curses the Lizardman stood dripping blood from his arms, face chest. Breathing heavy he was a sight to see, a battle scarred creature with crimson lines of blood rushing past crimson scales. Those who lived in the building were terrified as they watched the red eyes take hold of the man Aklixxar had been chasing.

Dralero whirled around, hearing the woman scolding him from behind. He was about to shoot back with an ill-thought retort, but froze when he heard the series of crashes and snapping of splintering wood. The beast was still hot on his trail, and in no time at all, it would find him and the chase would recur. Then, not only his life, but this woman's safety would be in jeopardy as well. He wasn't some heartless killer; he wasn't about to let this young, innocent woman fall victim to the lizard's rage. He had little time to act, for to his horror, his assailant had found him. Its red eyes glistened in the moonlight that shone through the downstairs window. For whatever reason - probably because Dralero had witnessed the beast attack and kill a city guard -, it was bent on killing him.

He had to move. Fast.

"Come on!" he yelled over the noise. He grabbed the girl's hand, which had been outstretched in a scolding manner, and attempted to pull her with him to escape the confined quarters of the poorly-built tenement.

Helena continued running towards him until a sickly cold sound ran through her mind and she had to wonder if it was a memory or happening now. When the giant lizard like beast came into her view she came to s top looking up at the creature with wide eyes. She gripped her red dress all the tighter, her golden brown curls bouncing lightly and sliding over her shoulder so they draped in front of her. Honey brown eyes became fixed on the creatures grotesque face. She lost her breath again and could have sworn her heart stopped for a moment as she looked upon it.

Before she could utter a word the man she had been chasing took her hand and started dragging her along the opposite direction. She lifted her skirt off the ground a little again running as fast as she could and glancing back at the creature. "What in the gods name is that thing?" She panted in her small panic. 'You whore...you whore...you whore.' That voice, again it kept echoing in her head making her want to cry out t silence it. She wanted to cry out in agony, her heart hurt. The sort of pain that could not be described to a human being unless they had felt what she had felt the night she died.

'Hush my daughter, go to sleep my angel. I love you Detra, I always will.' She blinked rapidly a few times trying to chase the ghosts from her head. She wasn't crazy, she wasn’t. Just keep telling herself that and maybe one day she would believe in her words. Was she not meant to have come back, was this why she always found herself in these dangerous situations? Some dark fate was trying to erase her from this world, laughing at her someone in the shadows as she toyed with her destiny. Such cruel monsters, Avalon was filled with cruel monsters and she was tired of them all. Something had to be done, but first she just had to live till morning.

Wrapping her fingers over the top of his hand her legs moved quickly beneath her. She noticed something wet against their palms and wondered what was wrong, if he was hurt. He deserved it, or did he? Was he simply just trying to live till morning as well? Just another innocent person that the fates had decided to toy with. Why so many pieces for their game, couldn't the occupy their time with something else? "Where the hell are we suppose to go to get away from that thing?" She asked dropping her proper and feminine demure.

Aklixxar had no choice, too many humans saw what he was, and also saw the black cloak loosely draped around the Lizardman's shoulders. No chance that the Crimson Scale could slip away unnoticed from this crowd of people, soon more guards would appear if he let them live. A sick smile crept onto the reptilian features of Aklixxar's face.

Reaching over his shoulder the beast wrapped his clawed hand around the hilt of his Greatsword. "Every last one of you, inside this building now!"

Aklixxar motioned towards an abandoned theatre, almost sickeningly ironic for what he had in mind. As the people, young, old, healthy and sick shuffled insside at the point of the sword Aklixxar kept watch for a guard or another citizen. As soon as everyone was inside the great beast bolted the door shut with his sword, and placed is cloak upon the hilt.

The soft scrape of scales over stone, and low rumble of laughter from deep within the Lizardman's chest. It was lucky for the Crimson Scale that the screams of the women and children did not reach the guards around the city, by the time they fell to the ground the powerfull lungs of said people were empty of air.

Exiting the building Aklixxars nose picked up the trail of his original quary, and he took off on all fours once again.

By the time he and the girl had reached the exterior of the tenement, Dralero craned his head around to see if the beast was still hot on their trail. To his surprise, though, it was simply standing there, at the bottom of the obliderated staircase. In its hand a sword, which he used to slam the door shut. Dralero feared the worst; there were innocent people in that very room. He briefly debated going back to stop the creature from inflicting harm upon them, but by the time he stopped running, screams and shrieks of anguish leaked through the fragmented walls of the building. They were cut off as soon as they'd begun, and it was then when Dralero took off in another swift sprint, his hand still conjoined with the woman's.

"This way," he breathed, tugging on the girl's hand as he led her into another alleyway. He noticed now that her hand was bloodied, but didn't stop to see if she was injured or not. If they stopped now, they were dead.

He came across one of the many city guards; this one was a heavily-armored man with a bow and quiver of arrows strapped around each shoulder. A sword was fastened to his hip, and a heavy-duty sheild was strapped around his left arm. Definitely a suitable opponent for their pursuer.

The guard seemed to know what was happening, for as soon as Dralero and Helena ran past, he brought his sword from his sheath. As if on cue, two more guards of the same arms ran over to join him. Three, heavily armored men would be the lizard's new obstacle, and if luck was on his side, the two of them would be able to escape the beast unscathed...

Helena looked back as screams escaped thought the door. She felt her eyes fill up with tears but not tears of fear but of hate. Yelling through her small snarl she cried out, "There were women and children in there, that monster...he deserves to die. There is not better destiny then one of pain and suffering for eternity...I'll see you in hell." She spat in the direction of the door before being pulled along once again. She was tugged along she complained, "Well aren't you going to decapitate that monster before he hurts any more innocent people, aren’t you going to make him pay, can't you stop him...he needs to be stopped. Either you will do it or I will."

She knew the words coming out of her mouth were crazy but all she had to cling to were her crazy words. She was hearing voices that were not there obviously she was a little out of her mind somehow. No one could convince her otherwise. As she considered reaching for one of his weapons they ran past a guard who quickly took arm and was assisted by his two companions. Helena yelled back at them, "Stop that monster." She would feel no pity for the create if it died a slow death, he had made his choice and all sins had to be paid for. She glared back at the scene unfolding behind her praying the beast would be taken out by the three archers. No she wanted to watch. Even if she had not known any of those people she didn't care. Blood had to pay for their deaths.

As she continued running she got a short head rush of pictures and more screaming voices replaying something foggy and dark. It was hard to tell what was real or not as the pictures in her mind melded with the world around her. It seemed a little odd that they were suddenly running through an opera house seating as she looked up on stage to someone singing. In a second everyone stood up and applaud and Helena found herself sidestepping to avoid running into the people in her mind. Confused by the situation she asked, "Where are we?"

The Crimson Scale was splattered in blood, some his, but most was innocent life. A long tounge snaked out from between scale lips and slowly drew a drop of blood from a claw, the monsters eyes closed. Untainted blood from a pure soul tasted as sweet as sugar itself. Aklixxar still had his eyes closed as three arrows blasted into his body.

One arrow landed in the Lizardman's right horn, snapping his head back. Two more hit the beasts right arm just past the elbow, the creature fell back with a ear-splitting cry of pain. The three guards drew their swords and advanced, slowly circling Aklixxar. One of the men prodded the body with the tip of his sword, not a titch. Another prodslightly harder, nothing still. The guard brought the sword high over his head, intent on taking the monster's head.

Aklixxars tail twitched and snapped the an's legs from under his body. As the guard fell the Crimson Scale drove his claws into the unprotected space between the guards helm and his chestplate, on either side of his neck. The Lizardman flipped backwards and threw the severed head at one of the other guards, the man paniced and brought up his sheild.

Taking a step towads the one guard who was not distracted AKlixxar threw his greatword double handed from over his head. The man's reflex took over and his sheild came up, but the force of the blade went through the wood and steel and pinned his arm to his chest punctuing the heart.

The monster's head twisted around, and his body followed. The mentaly scarred human who had his comanders head thrown at him had drawn his word, and Aklixxar jumped. All four limbs out claws puncturing the unprotected spots of flesh. the sharp bone at the end of the Crimson Scale's tail swung up, and burried itself into the eye of the unfortunate guard.

The Lizardman stood with his shoulder hunched, feet apart and show body heaving with deep breaths. The arrows were still sticking out of his body and blood was driping from every sharp claw and tooth and barb. Aklixxar looked at his pray, opened his mouth, and howled.

"MORE BLOOD!"

Dralero couldn’t blame the woman’s anger on anything but the beast’s rage. He hoped, as did she, that the guards would be able to slay the lizard. It deserved to be killed; Hell, anybody who killed an innocent, defenseless person deserved nothing but the blade. While he didn’t think that the lizard would prevail against three heavily-armed city guards, he couldn’t help but fear that the guards would be killed and the chase would continue on.

He rounded another corner, heading into an even darker alleyway. He held Helena’s hand with one of his own, and with his other, was feeling his way along the enclosed crevice. They made their way along the dark path, until eventually, they ended up on the next street over. They didn’t stop moving, even though the lizard was nowhere in sight. Dralero knew that it was able to pick up on a person’s scent, which was why he was searching high and low for a source of water. Once fully submerged, they would throw off their assailant’s only lead. Unfortunately, though, he had not yet come across a pond, or even a fountain.

”Where are we?”

I don’t know,” he admitted. “Though the sooner we find a source of water, we’ll be able to throw off the lizard’s scent.
