"Dum da da da dee da dum da da da dee da dum da da da dee da dum."

A light song fell from between the man's lips as his black cane clicked on the large stones that made up the small roads of Littlewood Village. A large drunk man stumbled from a tavernlaughing and yelling at a man inside. The impared man bounced off of Rettorick and the younger man lost his top hat.

"Eh-hem."

Rettorick cleared his throat,

"EH-HEM

The second time the drunk man turned around to face the blue eyed devil. "Waddya want twerp?"

"I want you to pick up my hat sir."

"Pick it up yourself."

"I suggest you do as I request."

The drunk man looked at the black hat and spat on it, Rettorick's eyes closed and he breathed sharply through his nose. The young man twisted his body and slammed the tip of his cane into the drunk's knee, a sharp crack sounded followed by a scream. Pulling out the sword from it's sheath Rettorick asked the man again to pick up the hat.

"You BASTARD! You broke my leg! I'll kill you when I can walk again, and then you'll have no use for a hat except in your dirt casket!"

"If that is how you insist on going about this."

Rettorick thrusted forward, the tip of the blade chipped the stone of the road and blood stained the walkway as the ice cold gentleman withdrew his blade from the drunkard. Wandering over to the fountain Rettorick washed the blood off of his blade and replaced it in it's sheath. Once again he started to wander through the town, leaving the drunk man dead on the stones.

"Dum da da da dee da dum da da da dee da dum da da da dee da dum."

Kasumi walked into Littlewood Village at a rather late hour. She yawned and stretched her arms over her head. She needed to find a place to sleep and a bite to eat after all the walking she had been doing all day. As she walked along the side road she had came into town on she looked about to determine if this was a good place to stay for a while to practice her arts.

"Maybe on the smaller side of towns." She muttered. "A larger city would be better, but beggars can't be choosers. How ironic." She rounded a corner see a scene began to unfold. It appeared as if the drunk had knocked the other gentlemen’s hat off and was refusing to pick it up. She decided to stay to the shadows incase a fight ensued.

She stopped where she was when the man cracked the drunk a good one in the side of the knee, dropping him with a broken leg. Well, shit. I hope I don't do anything to piss him off. What a temper, she thought to herself as the man drew a blade from his cane. Shit.

After the drunk had insulted the man, he was killed.

She emerged from the shadows an continued on her way, hoping not to draw unwanted attention if the man meant harm.

Rettorick stepped lightly and his cane bounced off the stones, the metal tip clicking against the hard road as he humed a familiar piano tune. Soon his left hand wandered to the air as he conducted the orchestra in his mind. The strings frantic and the brass light and lofty, with the soothing sounds of the piano played just under the surface like a thought one cannot grasp.

Wandering down the street with his eyes closed the young man suddenly stopped, his ice blue eyes snapped open and he turned. The cold almost lifeless orbs of crystal blue found the woman he thought was near and he bowed.

"Hello my lady. My name is Rettorick Morison Dotterell what, may I ask, is your name?"

Kasumi heard the musical way the man's cane sounded as it bounced off of the stones. He must be some sort of musician. She stopped when she sensed him turn around to look in her direction. She to turned around to see him bow and introduce himself as Rettorick.

She was not accustomed to people bowing to one another, but she half curtsied to him. She noted the way he inquired her name. Most men she had met didn't speak so well.

"My name is Kasumi Akahana." She replied. "Pleased to meet you."

Rettorick nodded, then looked up at the sky. There was someting musical about the way the world looked in the dark, the way the stars drifted about the sky.

"I do not think it would be the gentlemanly thing to do to leave you, Lady Kasumi, to wander the town alone this night. If you would allow me to it would be my honour to be your companion for this time."

Well, he certainly is a strange fellow. It's just not normal to hear people talk so formally. She thought, looking towards the moon. It was high in the sky showing that it was either near or past midnight. She looked back at him when he addressed her and said something about accompanying her. Not to sure what he would do if I refused after that little display, she thought looking at the corpse of the drunk for a split second. Might as well. Not much to lose any way. She grinned at the small thought.

"I guess it wouldn't be the gentlemanly thing to do." She replied. "I was actually looking for lodging and a meal. Do you know if anything in town is still open?" She asked motioning to the village in general.

The Gentleman looked around the town scquare, past the fountain and craned his neck to see behind the tavern. The "Little Inn" that he wass staying at was still open, the matron had told him that ythe doors never closed.

"MY lady, I know that where I am to stay tonight has some empty rooms. It seems that I have lost sight of the place, the night air will do us good if you would like to walk about."

Rettorick bowed to the woman he had just met, then offered his arm to the lady. She seemed to be caught off gurad by the way Rettorick was acting, this struck something in the man. Some deep sence of something almost like pitty, it was dissapointment. Not in the woman but in the men she had come in contact with long her lifes journey.

For the second time, she felt social awkward. Which was something she was not used to. This gentleman, for that was how he composed himself, was far different from any man, in her short 19 years of walking this earth, she had the pleasure, if you could call it that, of knowing.

She hesitated for a split second before taking his arm. "I'd love to." Kasumi replied to walking around time. "And please, you don't have to call me Lady." She added.
