Nathanial Lightbringer,
So you are alive, at this point, I see you are alive, and are probably wondering what had happened. If you wish to know the truth, come to the Ruins of Antioch.

Come Alone.

Nathanial Lightbringer the second.

"Father..." He had stated, though the boy never went by that name, Nathanial anymore. He was Azulith to everybody around him. He was sure there was going to be an ambush. Him and Gwen both knew something was going to happen. It was deep in the ruins, where nobody would hear the screams. Perfect to finish the job of an assassin who couldn't do their job correctly.

Of course, Azulith would not come alone. In hiding, he had the three comrads, the pirate, the monk, and the paladin, ready to ambush the oncoming noble in his armor, which the man did. Azulith turned around, to see the appearance of his father, his handsome appearance, with a thick, blond beard, short hair as well, around a similar length that his beard is. Dressed in his noble paladin armor he wore so proudly around, boastful. Azulith now see's this armor, and can feel only a sickening feeling in his gut.

"Father..." Nathanial spoke out.

"Good evening, son..." The man spoke, with an equally harsh tone in his voice, a twisted, evil look in his eyes, unfitting for a paladin.

Nathan took out the parchment and stated,
"You ordered this assassination, didn't you, father!" As he threw the parchment at his father's feet, the man didn't bother to even glance at it, he would not hide his sins, from his son.

"That I did, Nathan." He told his son.

"Why? Why would you sentence your own son to his death? Why choose that to be my fate father?!" He yelled at the man. Nathan wouldn't beat around the bush, he wanted his answers, and he wanted them, now...

"Why? WHY?! The man had greatly overpowered Azulith's voice, Azulith couldn't help but cringe at the man's intimidating voice. He always had a fear of his father's wrath.
"Look at you, your not only a disgrace to our family, your a disgrace as a MAN! My own son, dressed in a priest's robes, appearing and fooling others into thinking he's a woman, acting, behaving, like a woman. You are nothing but a curse boy, a shameful curse brought upon me.

This, had torn Azulith's heart to pieces, to hear this from his father. Deep down he knew this had to have been true, but he didn't want to think this far.

"Now you know the truth, it is time for my sins to be forgotten within these tombs itself." Within the shadows, multiple knights, all under the command of Nathanial Lightbringer the second, came out, with swords drawn. Azulith stood his ground.
"No, father. It is you that will atone for your sins." He held his hands up, a flash of light appearing from the boy's hands, and firing off a rather weak ray of light, a bolt, to assault the paladin, which he simply blocked with his own gauntlets. It couldn't even scratch the man's armor. It wasn't an attack though, but a signal, for a counterattack.

It was ... kinda funny the way things worked out. After the little fight in the graveyard, the pirate would not have expected to meet the young priest again. Imagine his surprise however when he ran into not only the lad, but the foreign swordsman who'd fought with them too. Even more surprising was when the priest asked for his assistance. Caine was not often the type for good samaritan acts. But since his pirating days were over, he did have plenty of free time. Besides, Caine knew plenty of what it was like to betrayed by one's own father. He had the missing eye to prove it.

As he now lay in hiding behind the ancient ruins of some long since departed city, he still found the whole thing quite interesting. His senses being a mite bit keener than a human's, the former captain hung on to ever last word between the priest and the paladin. Well, Caine didn't see what the big deal was. Sure, it was a little weird that the lad acted like a girl. But, eh, to each their own. Or maybe that was just because a pirate was short on moral fiber anyways.

Crouched behind stones, he awaited the signal they had agreed upon. He neither held any worry or anticipation, just wanting to get the job done. Since he no longer could battle at sea, he would fight on land. Even if all capabilities he used to know where gone. Save for his new blade. But hey, it was magic to, so he wasn't unable to take care of himself. At last the sign arrived, a flash of light from the priest's palms. At the emergence of many footsteps, he leapt from the cover of darkness, shoving a knight harshly into a stone column. A slash of the sword would send a wave a magics to cut through the knight'sarmor, effectively ending him.

And yet ... they were just getting started.

From the behind the cover of some brush and a pile of rubble, Xue Jian watched the exchange between Natha-er, no, ... Azulith, as he now preferred to be called, and his father, Nathanial Lightbringer the second. The swordsage could understand, to a small degree, that in some rare cases, one might have to disown a son if he had somehow dishonored the family name, but assassination was going too far, especially in this case. To have one's own son executed for behaving too much like a woman struck Xue Jian as ridiculous. There had to be at least one better solution than ... well, the final one.

He'd also been surprised, although not in a bad way, to see Caine rejoin them again. The former pirate's presence made Xue Jian feel much better about this little adventure. He didn't know much about the paladin that had joined them, other than that she was related to Azulith, so it was good to have a proven ally on your side when you were going to spring a trap.

And speaking of traps, armored knights appeared in the clearing where father and son had just finished speaking, and light flashed from Azulith's hands, telling Xue Jian it was time to make his move. The sound of wind gusting told him Caine was already in action, as he called upon his spirit sword and transformed it into a blunted lance. He didn't want to kill a bunch of misguided knights that were likely just following orders, but he needed something that would still be effective against armored men with swords.

Xue Jian leaped from his hiding place and intercepted the nearest knight, whipping his spirit lance in a wide arc that utilized the full length of the weapon and caught the unsuspecting man on the side of the head. Despite the protection of his helm, the blow knocked the knight out cold, so Xue Jian let him be and moved on to the next one.

The paladin as well, with the signal, had jumped from her hiding spot. Hearing what she heard from her father, boiled her blood, and her arms were twitching to stab her father, for trying to murder his only son. It was, just sickening.

One of the knights felt a sudden ringing, as he had fell back from Gwen's shield bashing into his head, and she quickly looked forwards towards her father, which he had glared back at her, and she rushed at him and their blades met, both trying to use their strength to force the other back.

Azulith had backed up when the others had come out of their hiding spots. His father, indeed was shocked that Azulith indeed came with help, though he should have known better than to think that this would have been so easy.

Azulith, as well had played the role of a healer, everytime somebody would harm themselves somehow, he would quickly have them patched up, and, since he had trained in the light, everytime somebody tried to harm another from a flank, he would quickly prepare with a holy bolt to strike anyone down.

Of course, the pirate had no qualms against killing. He had already made that clear in their last adventure. After all he had offered to cut the assassin's head off if the other two had not the stomach for it. Though the priest stopped him, Caine wondered if letting the man live would come back to bite them in the ass later...

In a brief moment of pause, he took stock of their opposition. There were ... plenty of knights to go around. As a man who had lived his life free, of any responsibilities or ties to causes, he could not understand the whole paladin thing. Why follow a god that had nothing to do with you anyways? The only god he believed in was war, and that's only because he'd met her. Well sorta, he just served in her armada for a time, and that was just because he followed the guardian of water who'd allied with the goddess. But never mind that!

The only weapon he had was his blade, and the only magics were contained with in it. He did not question how such an enchanted weapon worked, only caring that it did. That didn't mean however, that he was going to back out of a fight! It seemed however a bit of strategy would be required in order to avoid being cornered and skewered. While the others took the more direct approach, Caine vanished back into the more shadowy areas of the ruins. Sliding his blade back to its scabbard, he nimbly hoisted himself atop an ancient stone roof. It was here he surveyed the grounds from his vantage point. Making sure his allies were not in the path, he, using his shoulders, shoved a heavy rain of tiles upon the skulls of a few knights.

Taking full advantage of the element of surprise, Xue Jian managed to knock out two more knights, applying the same method he'd used on the first one, before several others decided to take notice of him. Five of them came running his way, spreading out in the hopes of surrounding him, but Xue Jian would have none of that. He maneuvered himself between several waist-high piles of rubble, forcing the knights to weave around the obstacles single-file in order to reach him, then he threw his spirit lance at the closest knight like a javelin. The lead knight managed to dodge Xue Jian's initial attack, but the one behind him was not so quick. The spirit lance struck him directly in the nose and snapped his head backwards, knocking him unceremoniously to the dirt. The ghostly lance would then attack the remaining three knights in quick succession on its own, serving to slow them down, while its master dealt with the one that got past it.

In the meantime, Xue Jian picked up a large stone and hurled it at the first incoming knight with surprising strength. The agile warrior moved around it only to step face first into Xue Jian's follow-up palm strike. On top of that, a wave of spirit force burst from the swordsage's hand and sent the knight crashing into a pile of rubble, scattering dust and debris everywhere. A swift kick to the downed man's head would ensure he did not get up again anytime soon. Xue Jian emerged from the cloud of dust and recalled the flying spirit lance back to his waiting hand, ready to face the remaining three knights ... except that more than three were there now. A lot more. Apparently they'd decided to call for backup, and instead of rushing in to attack him like he'd hoped they would, they were slowly circling his little refuge of rubble and moving in from multiple directions.

(( OOC: Please feel free to help Xue Jian out. ))

Azulith noted that Caine seemed to have everything under control, but as for Jian, slowly the guards were starting to outnumber him. Since he was out of harm's way, and out of the range of view from the guards, he had held up his hands and aimed straight for one of the guards, and as a flash of light formed in his hands, and a blast of light shot out, straight towards one of the guards and struck him right in the back. One of them had gone down, though there were still plenty left that he would have to help Jian out with.

Gwen though, couldn't help out with the fight Caine and Jian were facing. They were facing off against a quantity of enemies, but as for the paladin Gwen dashed towards, her father, he was not somebody that could ever be taken lightly.

Their swords struck eachother, the cries of each blazing through, both skilled enough not to have the other close enough to smash through their own armored plated chests. It was not an easy fight for her at all.
"You bastard, you shall pay for what you have done to my brother."
"For siding with that mistake, I shall have to teach you punishment too, Gwenivere." He stated to her, and she realized that his own strength seemed to be increasing, the strength put behind his blade was starting to overpower her's, which then she had to jump back and hold her shield to take the beating before he would have slashed her right in the shoulder with his blade. She figured he was not going to be an easy man to defeat, but she never dreamed of that kind of brute strength, it was insanity.

Sadly, all things must come to an end. And Caine lost his supply of stones and tiles to drop upon unsuspecting knights' heads. Anyways, they'd wised up to him being there, they were no idiots. One should expect that from a bunch of knights, he supposed. Ensuring that his blade was well secured, Caine leapt from atop the building, landing with hands at the edge of a tall pillar. Scrambling up, he found it to be a fairly stable surface to balance upon. If it weren't for a life time spent climbing amongst ship's sails and masts, he woulda hit the ground with quite a lovely 'thud.' The stone was just large enough for him to keep both feet steady without giving enough room for any other person atop it. Now he just had to figure out what he was gong to do up there.

Catching sight of the surrounded spirit sage, Caine did the only thing he could think of to do in this situation. Taking the advantage again, he drew his blade before jumping off the ledge. Landing heavily upon the back of one of the surrounding knights, he slashed another nearby with a wave of air cutter. Light on his feet the pirate dodged out of the way of another two surrounding knights, landing at Jian's back. "Catch a spot o trouble there, eh mate?"

Azulith took down one knight from behind, while Caine took out two more, landing on one after an impressive jump and wind slashing another before joining up with Xue Jian.

"Catch a spot of trouble there, eh mate?" The pirate asked.

"You could say that, Mr. Demarko," Xue Jian replied in the same half-joking tone. Xue Jian swung his spirit lance in a wide arc and released another spirit wave along the same line. Several more knights were knocked off their feet by the wave, but some managed to duck or take cover behind debris. At least their numbers were finally starting to thin out a little, but there were still a few left to deal with. "Thank you for coming over to help."

It seemed as though Gwen couldn't hold off the man's brute strength, but he had finally made one wrong move, and his sword was in an awkward placement lowered downwards at his side from a failed vertical slash downwards. Gwen quickly took this as a perfect opportunity to disarm him. Which she had let out a great slash, which he had to try and block with his shield, and she quickly kept the advancement and bashed him with her own shield, quickly following up with a slash right at his armor, causing the great paladin to loose balance, and with one more bash, the weight he has quickly caused him to fall, now he sat there, below Gwen, as she placed her blade at his neck, and told him,
"Though I should finish you here and now, I'll allow the law to pass judgment upon y-."

Before she knew it, something had pressed against her, cold, and painful, crossing from one piece of her chest, right into her heart.
'wh-' She had whispered. 'm-my armor, can't, be...' and she herself, fell over, from a quick attack, straight at her, she knew just from feeling, that attack, struck an organ, and blood was seeping everywhere around her. It's over...

Azulith had seen what happened too late, he had been distracted too long by the knights attacking Xue to realize Gwen had a stealth attacker from behind. Obviously, planned on that this assassin would take out Azulith while the others were distracted, his old man figured Azulith wouldn't come alone, he just didn't realize that this assassin would quickly switch targets before realizing his master was in danger of death, and now Gwen had to take his place instead.

"GWEN!!!" Azulith yelled, fear had struck him all over. The older paladin, realized with the numbers as low as they were, it was pointless to continue the fight. This monk and pirate were much stronger than he anticipated, he would have to figure out a new plan, it was too dangerous to continue, so with the aid of that mysterious person, he had disappeared, ironically, into the shadows.

Azulith quickly ran to his sister's side, there was so much blood, and he was already panicking, he had to heal her, this wound, it seemed like a dagger wound, nothing, he tried to patch it up, but it had cut more than just skin and muscle. He just didn't realize the wounds were far too severe for a priest's heal to cure, and he had no supplies to patch her up too.

A wave of wind would take care of a few more knights. The pirate merely laughed at his companion's reply. He then gave a brief salute before kicking another knight out of his path. The heavy armor protected them from a weapon blow, but it made them a mite bit top heavy. As the ranks began to thin, Caine gave a glance for the other two of their little party.

Even the pirate thought the attack he saw coming was a low blow. But there was nothing he could do. So he nodded to Jian to go to the fallen paladin and their friend Azulith. While they took care of the injured woman, or whatever they had to do, Cine took care of th stragglers. "I'll take care of the est, you go give em a hand eh Jian?" Wit that he was off, chasing down a few departing knights.

Xue Jian had not seen how Gwenivere had been injured. He only saw that her father had retreated and she'd fallen to the ground. He was already stepping forward to try and help when Caine suggested he go on. Nodding in acknowledgment, Xue Jian quickly ran over to where the paladin had fallen, but it was clear as day that there was no hope. Blood had pooled all around her body and her skin had already gone deathly pale from its loss. Azulith was beside her, doing his best to cast his healing spells, but they didn't seem to be working. If the priest's powers failed, then there was nothing Xue Jian could do that would save her. Only a miracle could do that now.

Laying a hand on Azulith's shoulder, a knot formed in the pit of his stomach as Xue Jian spoke in a solemn voice. "I'm sorry Azulith. Best say your farewells while you still can."
