Cleis walked ahead of Morte with a spring in each of her step. The field they were walking in was nice and the atmosphere seemed lighter and soothing because they were now well on their way to get Cleis' gifts bestowed on her. She grew closer to Morte everyday and now she found a bit of the lost humanity in her. Today was a new begining for her. "How come is it that the sky is blue in the morning and dark at night?," she asked Morte who was trailin behind her with a smile. "How come is it that the grass of the fields are green? How come?" She asked him this difficult question because she only wanted him to talk. Whenever she hears his voice it seems to comfort her in an odd way. "How come is it that you chose to be a wine brewer when you're a wizard?," she finally asked him. "Why is that? May you tell me?." She tried to make him talk. She knew it now that falling in love has a lot of side effects. You talk to much and you get a bit annoying just to keep that person by your side. She knew that some humans can be loved but not all. Morte was the kind that can and she was glad that she found him. Edited by Cleis, Jun 28 2009, 03:49 PM.

Morte walked a bit behind his pretty Cephirian lover and she trotted around with a spring to her step, it was always a pleasure to see her co happy. However, she started spouting out questions that he couldnt answer, it was things, he didnt know... it frustrated him. Why was the sky blue in the daytime and black in the night time, and those stars at night? The grass, why was it green! Why Even Care About That?! "Uhhh. I suppose you'd better ask the gods about that, they're the ones responsible for it after all." She then asked about his occupation, why be a brewer when he's a wizard? "Well, It's want i love, creating new drinks and brewing new concoctions, its fun for me. Having magical blood doesn',t matter much in life if you cant do an honest day's work. I'm a sorcerer yes, but i dont throw it in peoples faces like some people, or take a job in a kings court or a lords army, I'm just a man that wants to live his life." |

"Well, It's want i love, creating new drinks and brewing new concoctions, its fun for me. Having magical blood doesn',t matter much in life if you cant do an honest day's work. I'm a sorcerer yes, but i dont throw it in peoples faces like some people, or take a job in a kings court or a lords army, I'm just a man that wants to live his life." She was surpirsed at his reply. Cephirians don't live for themselves alone, they live for their kingdom as well. "Why is it that a human like you won't use their abilities to serve their kingdom?," she asked him with a sigh as she sat down on the grassy field and plucked a long blade of grass. "Don't you want to help Avalon with your talents?." She pondered the question she asked him in her head for a long while. However, after a few minutes she decided to stop thinking about it and to move on. "I don't mean to pry but why did Lady Kura got murdered?," she asked him with a voice as low as a whisper and afterwards played a tune on the blade of grass that the scribes sing. She was taught to play using leaves or grass by her adopted father, Avean Aetherus. She let the tune soothe their minds - the tune the scribes play are for easing their stress. After what semmed like an enternity of melody, she stopped. "You don't have to answer my question. Please need not be offended, it was merely out of sheer curiosity I asked it." As she sat down she resumed back into being the Cleis Aetheurus of Cephir and drifted away from being Cleis Aetherus of Avalon. |

Cleis seemed somewhat upset with his response, But Morte had his rebuttle, "Because a wizard in a king's court is nothing more then an overpaid magician! They do little more then entertain guests with pretty flying lights or a magics trick, i heard one pulls a rabbit from his hat, A Hat! How ridiculous is that?! No self respecting arcane mage would sully their skills by working as such, and the army, no, skills with a blade i have, but i am not one who fights a war for someone. I'll not be tied down by a garrison, people nowadays dont even respect the army and towns guardsmen, starting fights and brawls in the city streets, stealing murdering, bunch of savages. Can you believe a gang of thugs broke up an execution of someone once, destroyed a good portion of a city and even defaced a town church. Disgusting." He shook his head and walked up next to Cleis, who had slowed down. She asked him a question, that made him stumble over a stone and nearly fall. She asked how his wife was murdered. "Have a seat..." Morte sat down next to Cleis as she played with a blade of grass, "I was riding on Tiberius' neck one day after Kura had stepped out for a walk. I would always protest against her walking alone in the woods, and... she was very heavy with child at the time." His voice stuttered an d he choked up at times, "Tiberius started to freak out, and kept forcing itself down, i tried to fight him a bit because i had someplace to go, but i gave in, and he flew down. There was... A freshly dug grave, 'RIP For An Unknown Mother', it read. Tiberius clawed at the ground, desperate to see what was underground. I... Didn't think of it at the time, and kept trying to get him from disturbing the dead, I couldn't stop him, and he dug... Her up." Morte had to stop, his hands going to his face, soaked with tears. He choked and sobbed, hating to relive this story. "It's alright, i must finish this..." Morte said, starting up again, "In this shallow grave was my darling wife, pale and cold. I hugged her close, crying out... There was, bite marks on her neck. It was no animal, but it was a Monster whoever did it! It was a vampire bite Cleis." Morte halted, and took in a deep breath, "What was worse... The baby, was gone. The Vampire, Took My Child From Me!" |

"What was worse... The baby, was gone. The Vampire, Took My Child From Me!" Cleis placed a hand on Morte's back, sympathizing with him. "I'm sorry if my question opened up old wounds," she told him in a soothing voice. "Forgive my foolishness." She felt a bit of humanity tug at her heart. The feeling inside her told her to be understanding of him. It was true, when a Cephirian dies an untimely death everyone prays for their souls to be received by the Lords and Ladies of the heavens. However, they move on quickly. They were taught to look ahead and if someone dies that means the gods are preparing a birth of a new life. 'What must I do to him?' she quietly thought to herself as she soothed him. 'He's obviously in pain about it....' "Don't worry Maiyr won't touch you...." she said in a whisper but loud enough so he can hear it. "Not if you're with me. I'm sorry about the pain I've caused you again. however, I implore you to listen to this. Close your eyes." She tried to play the tune that Avean played to her when she was a child. The song of the heavens as Avean called it. Back in the Age of Ancients, the Elders would play this tune to heal all the wounds of battle. It heleped the men stay strong and the wives and children to stay calm. However, Cleis' didn't know if it would be the same for Morte. She hoped it was but she just had to wait and see. "After I get my gifts," she told him as she stopped playing on the blade of grass for awhile. "I'll help you look for Maiyr, so you can get your child back. As a repayment for you travelling with me, I pledge to help you kill Maiyr. I'll finish Maiyr for you or die trying...." She said that to show him that even though she was weak in most areas, she wasn't in a complete loss. She was an adopted Cephirian and to them there was nothing to fear, so she adapted herself to be like them and she was one of them. "All Cephirians are taught to fight to the death," she smirked to him. "Even if sometimes a battle cannot be won." |

Morte reached around and wrapped an arm around Cleis, pulled her close to him, wiping the tears from his eyes with his sleeve. "It's alright Cleis, i'll be fine..." Cleis whispered something about a Maiyr, reassuring him with her calming voice. He closed his eyes as she asked him, singing a beautiful tune to him. She said after she got her gifts, he assumed she meant her oracle magic, that she'd help him save his child, and kill this Maiyr. At this point he guessed she meant vampire when she said Maiyr. Morte placed a kiss on her lips, holding her close, "Cleis, i wouldnt want you to kill yourself for my sake, dont say things like that." He muttered, holding her in his arms. "If i ever meet my wife's slayer, it will be me that decides their fate..." |

"Cleis, i wouldnt want you to kill yourself for my sake, dont say things like that. If i ever meet my wife's slayer, it will be me that decides their fate..." She just shot him back an odd lookk. Why do humans have to be so difficult? "Maiyr means Bringer of Death," she told him with an expressionless face. "Elvin language... So if you were an elf you'd most likely be caled Uthar." She let the light breeze blow the blade of gras away from her hand. It felt awkward to be held by someone who had anither. It didn't feel right. 'Strange,' she thought again, her forehead wrinkling. 'Why did I allow myself to fall for him?' With this in mind. She pulled away and stood up from the spot where she sat. She folded her arms across her chest and let her eyes scan the horizon. She listened closely if there were any beings around but she heard none. "Let's go..." that was all she told him, her tone was nearly a cold one. |

Morte got up and walked along side her, saddened to see her happy mood had suddenly vanished, "Uthar? I hope is doesn't mean anything bad..." He walked the path to where ever it was Cleis was going, some sort of temple to The Light. He assumed it was a temple to the god of life, Lord Halli, or as the Cephirians seemed to be a proud strangely aggressive race when it comes to humans and who knows what else, Lady Kioku the goddess of War or Lord Drystan the god of justice... The only way to find out was to actually go to this place, Finish their pilgrimage, and pray to the god or goddess of this temple... |

"Uthar? I hope is doesn't mean anything bad..." She stopped dead at her tracks when she heard him say this. Instead of getting mad or get disappointed any further, she turned to face him with a smirk across her face. Her brown eyes were fixed on him sharply. "Wise Wizard," she translated for him as she touched the tip of his nose with her pointer finger after she was close enough to him again. "It could be bad. It depends which side you’re on. Do you know whose side you’re on?" She left him to think about what she said, turning away from him with a smile. It was true, she can have terrible mood swings like every other girl but she knew how to control it unlike some. She was walking ahead of him again but she felt lost and lonely even though he was just behind her. ‘What is up with me?...’ she asked herself in frustration as she cannot believe that she stopped and waited for him. Then she realized that she had nothing to say to him. ‘Uhm… I need to say something,’ she thought frantically. ‘What do I say?’ She stood there with a frown on her face trying to come up with an excuse. Then it came to her after an eternity. “I’m tired,” she told him stammering. “My legs hurt.” |

Cleis halted when he spoke, turning around with a smirk on her face. "Wise Wizard." Cleis said, poking him on the nose, "It could be bad. It depends which side you’re on. Do you know whose side you’re on?" Morte smiled again, happy to see her cheery mood had returned, "I would hope im on the right side." They continued walking again, Cleis gaining some distance, he couldnt blame her, he was a slightly older gentleman wearing chain mail armor with a sword strapped to his leg and any number of various drinks and various sundries in the confides of his robe. She turned around to face him again, this time with a frown on her face, "What's wrong?" He asked. "I'm Tired," she said after a while, stammering a bit, "My legs hurt." Morte smiled and walked closer to her, "Awww, my poor little Cephirian, here, climb onto my back, i'll carry you." Morte said with a smile on his face, crouching down a bit so she could climb onto his back while he carried the two of them the rest of the way. |

"Awww, my poor little Cephirian, here, climb onto my back, i'll carry you." Morte said with a smile on his face, crouching down a bit so she could climb onto his back while he carried the two of them the rest of the way. Cleis obliged and climed onto his back. Her excuse wasn't a lie. Her legs did hurt and after all it was safe to be around Uthar. Or Morte. "Uthar," she finally whispered to him after what seemed to an eternity of being on his back. "I think we're lost. I have no idea where we are meant to be going....." She trailed off from there. After doing so, she fell into a deep sleep on Morte's back. |

Morte smirked as he hoisted Cleis up on his shoulder, feeling her as a feather on his back. She whispered to him that she had no idea where they were supposed to go, she trailed off them, falling asleep. Maybe she would have another one of her visions as she seemed to do in her sleep, and knowing her also jerks around a bit when she woke up, set her down on the trail. He removed his robe and laid it out, putting Cleis on the robes for comfort. "This place seems a good a place as any to set up camp anyway," Morte muttered to himself, taking a swig from a bottle and leaning against a rock, watching Cleis as she slept. |

She tossed and turned when she slept. Cleis' didn't have visions, she had nightmares and nothing else. All she knows is that the things she dream about are fragments of her dark, mysterious and forgotten past. After all, she is a human when she was in her younger years but now that she was an adult she was a Cephirian Elf. Weird as it may seem, she already is an Elf. In her sleep, a nightmare occured to her. Glimpses of what her human parents did to her flashed before her. The way they hit her and how her blood ran down from her nose and lips after a good beating. She could see what they were doing but she couldn't see what they look liked. Her dream was so real that in her sleep she casted a Ring of Light. Her body wasn't under control, it was under the control of a dream. As she gripped the robes which she lay on, a citrine ring was revealed as it adorned her left ring finger. "Go away....." she muttered in her sleep. As the night grew deeper, the nightmare worsened. In her nightmare, the clearest of her broken memory appeared - the night the human villagers tried to kill her. She felt like she was tranported into that place and time again. Although the rest of her memory is blurry, this one came back to her after the Cephirians told her what had happened. She ran as fast as she could to get away from them. How her heart thumped so fast! She ran aimlessly into the night but to no avail she ran into a dead end. A sword was positioned at the side of her neck and it was at the perfect position to cut it off. At that moment, when the barrier seperating life and death was the thin sheet of fate she awoke with a scream. "No!..." that one word escaped her lips as she sat up. Her chest was heaving quite fast and sweat was on her forehead. "It was just a dream..." she silently muttered to herself as her brown eyes focused on her hands which was on her lap. Her long Silver hair remained undisturbed even though she was sleeping. However, her face was pale. She was too scared to go back to sleep and that was when she began to look for Morte again. "Where are you?" she didn't know where he was nor the reason why she had to be with him all the time. She knew this one thing though - Sanctuary was where Morte was. |

Morte was chewing on a bit of dried venison when Cleis started to toss and turn in her sleep she was even talking in her sleep. "Go away." she muttered, "No!" She cried. Morte moved to sit next to her, a wide white ring formed around her. It had a powerful magic, and when Morte knelled next to her he felt slightly sickened. He did not know the spell, but the ring of light repelled his impure thoughts, punishing him for them with it. He was not an evil person, but everyone has their demons. Cleis awoke and pushed herself up, reminding her that it was just a dream, asking where he was. Morte rested a hand on hers, "I'm right her Cleis, i didnt leave your side." He said reassuringly. |

"I'm right her Cleis, i didnt leave your side." She felt a hand on hers. She gasped for breath before she turned her head to the side. She then found her Morte. Tears sprang in her eyes. She had to bury her face in her hands. "I'm sorry," she began to sob. "I'm so sorry..." She pulled herself together and she stood up staright. She crossed her hands across her chest. Her brown eyes was fixed on the full moon. "I want to go home...." she whispered it to the wind. She hoped that Morte didn't hear it but she felt like she wanted to. Although there was one problem, she didn't know where home actually was. |
