The behemoth slowly walked through the forest. Its body almost seemed to glow, shining in the small rays of sunshine that broke through the trees. Standing at seventeen feet tall, the metallic humanoid creature easily reached the lower branches of the trees. Instead of avoiding them as it walked, however, it simply kept going, breaking any branches that blocked its path.

Grogg had wandered off from his previous master’s tower again. This forest was such a strange place for an Adamantine Golem to be walking in, but that did not seem to occur to the behemoth. With each step the ground shook slightly, thought not enough to really cause any problems. The shaking did stir the wildlife and alert everyone nearby of its presence, however.

Ai jumped slightly feeling the ground shake. Looking around she could not see anything. Her animals seemed to know where it was coming from and ran off in that direction with Ai following them closly. They stopped and Ai looked at the really tall thing. She did not know what it was and she wanted to know now. "Hello." She called up to it her eyes slightly wide. She looked at the trail it made, broken branches and slight marks in the groun where his feet were at. "Wow..." Was about all she said.

Grogg stopped walking when it heard a voice. Looking at the speaker, the golem turned its huge body. A small girl (small compared to a seventeen foot tall giant, that is) stood there, surrounded by animals. She seemed surprised by the appearance of the metallic thing and the path it created as it just walked about. Unfortunately, the golem could not respond to Ai. It could not speak even if it wanted to.

Ai stared up at the giant thing that the light was reflecting off of. "What are you?" She asked in a very curiuos tone. Her curesity was getting the better of her at the moment. She looked at her pets for a moment and they seemed to be watching the giant thing as well. "Densetsu could you run down the path with Aki to see where the big guy in front of us came from?" She whispered to the dir wolf (Densetsu) and the grey wolf (Aki). The wolfs nodded and took off running down the path. SHe still had many animals with her at the moment.

Grogg continued staring at Ai and her animal companions. As the two wolves ran off, the golem turned its gaze to follow them for a moment, then turned back to face the girl. It stood there for a moment as its ‘mind’ ran through every way of communication. A moment passed before it moved.

Slowly bending over, the large beast pushed its finger easily into the ground. With its large fingers, it drew a rough drawing of two figures. Unfortunately, the golem was not crafted to be an artist. Had it been, its creator would have been very disappointed. All that could be figured out was that there were two humanoid things, one much taller than the other.

Ai sat down next to the drawing. She laughed slightly thinking of a child. "I am not laughing at you okay. I am laughing at my thoughts." She4 looked at it for a moment. "Is this one suppost to be you?" Then she thought again as she was pointing at the taller one. "Hold out two fingers for a yes and one finger for a no." Ai was trying to make it easier guessing the thing could not speak.

Grogg showed no reaction to Ai’s laughter. Although it had heard its master laugh many times, it did not understand the meaning behind it. It began to very slowly nod its head in response, though it stopped after being instructed how to answer. After waiting a moment, two fingers were lifted on its large hand. It looked down at the drawing again and roughly drew some lines coming from what one would have to guess were the smaller figure’s arms (They were oddly placed and did not match each other, but there was no other explanation for them). Apparently the golem thought this might help clarify things.

Ai tilted her head slightly and erased the figures redrawing them. They were stick figures but everythign was placed better. It looked sort of like the last one but a little more legible. "It the shorter one the person you live with? Same way to awnser as before." She knew there would be many questions and without speaking it would be hard to get awnsers.

Grogg lifted two fingers again. Yes, it had lived with the shorter figure. Though, to be completely accurate, it served that one. Drawing a wizard was a difficult task for a large golem with no artistic skills. For a few seconds the behemoth just stood there, looking at the drawings. Off to the side of Ai’s revision, it drew the two figures again, the shorter one seeming to point at a blob while the larger one held it up.

"Did you work for the shorter one? Or did you serve that one? This time two fingers for working three for serving on one for nether." Ai hoped she was not making this to difficult for the tall person, or whatever he was. She looked at the next drawing as her songbird, Utatori, flew up and landed on the thing. Ai started to laugh as the bird sung a chery song.

Grogg stared at the drawing for a moment, even after the bird had landed on it. It obviously had to work to figure out the answer. At first, it raised two fingers, but it retracted those and instead raised three. It had served the wizard, its creator. The bird was making a strange sound the golem was not used to. It slowly got down on its knees and leaned very close to the feathered creature, trying to study it and figure out what the sound meant.

Ai smiled slightly and looked at Utatori then the thing. "She is singing. She does that to comunicate. Her singing tells me things. Right now she is singing because she is happy." Utatori looked at the thing that was about a thousand times larger then her. She was a very small bird. Ai then thought for a moment wondering what the thing was doing out here if is served someone.

Slowly the behemoth rose to a stand, almost stepping on the drawings and was a bit too close to the bird. Grogg stepped back to give Utatori some space. The golem stared at the drawings. It was true it had served the wizard, but that man had gone off adventuring quite some time ago (the golem could not keep count) and never returned. Eventually all orders he had given seemed to just be slight pulls on the large thing’s actions.

Ai looked at Utatori who flew away so she would not be in the way of getting stepped on. She then looked up at the thing and thought for a moment. "I am Ai. I am guessing you can not speak so I will not worry about that. But communicating is quite difficult. But no matter. It is about the same as comunicating with my animals. It is quite fun trying to figure it out tho." She grinned and laughed.

Grogg listened to the girl speak, but did not really react. It looked down at Ai and her companions. It seemed she was used to finding ways to communicate with things that could not speak. This would be good, for the golem had no experience. Its master had no need to communicate with it. The wizard would tell it what to do, and the golem would do as it was told.
