Overthinking Overanalyzing

It didn't seem to take long for Lysander to grow comfortable with wandering long and far through the Enchanted Forests of Avalon. The wood hummed with a tangible vitality, and encounters were few; so far, the encounters he had had whilst wandering around the forest and the adjacent Littlewood Village had been surprisingly pleasant, and went far in the young Manakete's journey to overcome his shyness. He had good reason to be wary of strangers, but he was beginning to see that the good far outnumbered the bad and was developing a cautious optimism. Having followed the river to Shadow Falls the other day, Lysander, with fishing pole in hand, felt the urge to travel in the opposite direction. He'd been shown a patch of calm water south of the falls that had been a stellar fishing spot, but the young Manakete wasn't satisfied with finding just one fishing hole; there had to be others. Elbert and Agatha, the elderly couple who were sheltering him in Littlewood, were counting on him to bring home some fish for supper again after the delicious specimens he'd brought home the other day, so Lysander conciled himself that if he didn't find another good spot to fish by mid-day he would return. Better safe than sorry. He could always explore further on a day he took to himself. But Lysander enjoyed doing chores for the old couple, so he didn't know when that would be next. No worries though. He'd left before dawn, as usual, and perhaps an hour or so after the sun came up he crested a hill and spied a broad, beautiful expanse of water. Taken by the beauty of the land, the young Manakete stood at the top of the hill for several minutes, painting a picture in his mind. Then with a shiver of excitement, he skipped down the hill to the waters' edge. Oh joy! Lysander could scarcely believe his eyes: There, not far from the verdant shore, swam a school of large, rainbow-coloured fish, their scales scintillating in the morning light. Goodness, several of them looked to be as long as his arm! He couldn't wait to hook one of them and reel it in! Seating himself cross-legged, Lysander plucked a morsel of salted pork out of a small pouch for bait and set it on his hook. The young Manakete had nearly been ill when Elbert had shown him 'the art' of putting a worm on the hook, so the kindly elder man had shown him other ways to entice fish. Now, with nothing but himself, the fish, and birds singing in the trees, Lysander cast his line. A sigh of pleasure escaped his narrow chest, and his small wings unfurled lazily. Not even studying was this relaxing! Edited by Zander, Jun 17 2009, 03:40 AM.

The Good My'thyrian
|
Senriyu had decided to take a break from general survival in Avalon and took a vacation out to Lake Milytharo. Of course, Andumi wasn't with her. He'd said something about "researching the interesting politics of Ataxarch" and set off on his own soon after. Of course, they had agreed to meet up again at an arraigned point, but that didn't mean that Senriyu couldn't just relax while Andumi most likely put his life at risk for the gods knew how many times. She giggled lightly at the image of him attempting to be a spy as she glided down the green swathes of rich meadow grass that grew around the immediate areas of the Lake. He silver hair was lacking braids today, as she was starting her usual cycle over again, today being "0" day. Of course, this only made her want to lie down more, as the weight of her hair was rather annoying to have to hold up, but she had never wanted to cut it yet, and she didn't see any problem with having nice long hair. Of course, her hair, practically radiating reflected light from the sun, was in such good condition because she always took the time to maintain its good health regardless of the situation. Oddly enough, hair care products were one of the few things that dungeon masters weren't expressly forbidden to deny to a prisoner, a surprisingly pleasant factoid for Senriyu. As she cleared the final line of trees, she began to hum aimlessly, seemingly at peace with the whole of creation for no apparent reason other than she was in a good mood. "This truly is a perfect sort of day...I almost wish I wouldn't need these wherever I go..." she said reflectively, looking at her priest's robes and her diamond dagger, sparkling in a prismatic, though deadly, way at her side. The robes apparently gave her some sort of protection from thieves and robbers in these lands, as the clergy usually went well-armed and did nothing but good for the people. At least, that was what Andumi had told her as he shoved them at her. How, exactly, he had managed to acquire such a fine set of robes, not to mention the dagger made of solid diamond, Senriyu didn't bother asking. Knowing Andumi, they might have belonged to a previously living owner... Her reverie was cut short as she noticed a young boy with...wings?! "Well, you don't see that every day..." she remarked quietly. The boy appeared to be fishing quite contentedly, and Senriyu hated to have to bother him, but she was bored... Striding gracefully and serenely (it was impossible to do almost anything else in her robes) over to the boy, she knelt down and arraigned her robes and hair, deciding to initiate the conversation. "It's a beautiful day, is it not? I'm terribly sorry to interrupt your fishing, but do you mind if I sit here and chat a while with you? My name is Senriyu, by the way. I didn't have anything better to do here other than observe the view, and that's always better when you have someone to share it with, yes?" Senriyu spoke sweetly and in a friendly manner, smiling adorably at the young boy. Edited by Senriyu, Jun 15 2009, 07:50 AM.

These fish were crafty! Lysander had gotten one good bite, and when he'd yanked on his fishing pole all he got back was a clean hook. The frisky sucker made off with his bait. At least two other fish followed suit, nibbling at his bait then finishing it off completely with a good tug. Oh well, it just meant he'd have to get wiser. The young Manakete fished out the toughest piece of bait he could find, a morsel of the pork fat with the cured skin still attached and set that on his hook (with a little difficulty). Satisfied that a fish shouldn't be able to nibble it off easily, Lysander cast his line once more, the cork bobber hitting the water's surface with a satisfying plunk. Confident his change in strategy would work, Lysander eagerly stared at the floating bobber, ready to pull on his fishing pole for all he was worth the moment it disappeared below the surface. Concentrating as he was, he was unaware he had company until the moment she spoke. "Huh?" the young Manakete's head whipped around with a surprised expression on his fair face. "Oh! Umm, hello there." He managed a shaky smile. "Y-Yes! The weather is most pleasant today, and I certainly wouldn't mind company... You can call me Zander." His task momentarily forgotten, Zander couldn't help staring at the elegant woman who had come calling. He'd never seen such long, silvery hair! It was almost as if she were wearing a veil crafted of the finest silver. The only thing to spoil this illusion was the occasional breeze that pick up and play with a few strands before settling back in place perfectly. Several of the Elders had long, flowing hair, but nothing like this. Her voice was kind and serene, reminding Zander somewhat of Soria, and he immediately felt at ease in the woman's presence. "You're hair is beautiful," he said, involuntarily reaching up to run a hand beneath his colourful horns through his own lightly silver locks. "You must take very good care of it. I have some female friends who would love to - Oh...? Oh!" The fishing pole gave a hard jerk in his hands. Zander yanked back and felt the wonderful tugging of the fish fighting back. He'd finally hooked one! "C'mon you! I'm gonna fry you up with some butter, an onion, maybe a few cayenne peppers... Ohhh - Ah!" The young Manakete barely managed to hang on to his pole as the fish gave a mighty pull and yanked him forward, face first, into the shallows. |

The Good My'thyrian
|
Senriyu held a long sleeve across her face to stifle her laughter at the young....well, she supposed she could call him boy, though he obviously wasn't human. She giggled again at Zander's antics. He's absolutely adorable...the perfect material for my spy network.... Senriyu thought, hiding her suddenly businesslike sensibilities behind her still-smiling face. Of course, the compliments didn't hurt, either. She was rather vain like that, actually. "Oh, thank you, Zander. I take several hours every day to keep my hair the way it is. In fact, by now, one could call that part of my training regimen, I guess." Senriyu lowered her sleeve to speak to the boy, continuing to use the alluring, melodic voice she always used when not on business. Of course, Andumi did prefer the...darker...voice, but that was just because he was always being an ass. Her face light up with amusement at Zander's shocked reaction to the pole's movements, and she thought about how best to help. Better yet...she had just gotten a rather selfless idea. She was going to play on this boy's inexperience with women quite easily and gain a new spy in the process. "Oh, my, that's a big one you've caught, there. Here, why don't I help?..." Senriyu called to him, though not too loudly, as she effortlessly removed her priest's robes to reveal the strange metal mesh-weave suit that she had arrived on. Of course, it wasn't fused to her skin, but it served as an excellent undergarment that didn't restrict movement. Keeping her diamond dagger with her, the My'thyrian hybrid stepped into the water, completely missing the slight and rapid chromatic change that rippled through her skin as she touched the water here for the first time. All she thought was: Goodness, this is surprisingly cold!, which was usual for her. Grabbing the flailing dragon-child from behind, she pulled him back to shore while holding onto the pole herself, her hands over the boy's. Of course, this meant that he was bracing himself on her chest, but it didn't look like this sort of child was well-versed in swimming, so Senriyu justified this obvious manipulation with the excuse of saving the boy's life. The fish he'd caught was a whopper, a huge creature over 2 feet in length. Of course, this just meant that there were others like them in that lake. Senriyu stared at the fish's flailing and silently struck it clean through the skull with the diamond dagger, ceasing its struggle instantly. Turning back to Zander, she looked a little embarrassed at her more militaristic appearance. "Eh heh...I hope you're all right now. Did you say you were going to eat it? Well, if it was that much effort for just one, would you mind if I helped you? I assure you, it's no trouble at all." Senriyu chimed as she strode back into the water, seeking out the place where she knew the fish would instinctively go. Placing the heavy dagger in her mouth so as to leave her hands free, she dove down into the water, her swift, powerful strokes quickly getting her deep underwater. She spied several fish just lolling about near a patch of sunlit tall aquatic grass and observed their movements for a few seconds while she calculated the best attack vector for killing as many of them as possible. Of course, it was odd that so many fish of such a size would be together...unless....her question was suddenly answered as an enormous monster of a fish came roaring out of the cover of the grass to swallow several of the 2-footers whole. Senriyu grinned. This fish was even bigger than her (though at her height, that wasn't really much), easily reaching seven, or eight feet long, and approximately 4 feet wide. How exactly a fish that big came to be here, Senriyu didn't know, nor did she care. But she knew it had to be edible. Target acquired....perfect... she thought to herself as she swiftly swam up a few feet to gain a better vantage point. Of course, technically, a strike from below would have been better, but it would have resulted in a longer fight and the lack of an instant kill. As the fish-monster swam under her, she realized how long she'd been under. Curious...it's been almost three minutes. I wonder why I'm not passing out...eh, no matter. Ah, he's here! Gotcha! She swam down with jet-like speed, grabbing hold of one of the monster-fish's dorsals to keep her in line while she used her other hand to grab her dagger. It had to be quick, now, or else the fish would just go down even deeper, and it would be almost impossible for her to lift it back up again with the pressure of the water bearing down upon her. She struck a deep blow at the top of the creature's head, from eye to eye, an instantly fatal wound. The fish flailed slightly, then went limp as the brain, damaged beyond all repair, ceased functioning. Senriyu was forced to use only her legs as she dragged the fish back towards the surface, breaking the water and taking in smooth, silent breaths. As she carried the fish out by its tail, she swung it into the air and landed it firmly on the ground with a simple twitch of her wrists. Walking back into the shallows of the water, she rinsed off her hands of the slimy scales of the dead behemoth, only exiting once she was certain her hands were spotless. She staggered slightly as the full weight of her hair came into play. She had evidently forgotten it was wet. Turning towards Zander, she gestured at the fish, rather needlessly, and lay down upon the soft grass, making sure her priest's robes protected and dried off her hair in the process. Now she was tired...she closed her eyes and stared at the sky, letting the sounds of soft breezes through the trees and small songbirds drift into her ears. |

Overthinking Overanalyzing

In truth, Zander wasn't the best swimmer, and felt a fair bit of relief as the woman's form practically enveloped his and pulled him back, fishing pole, fish and all. Caught up in the moment as he was, it took several seconds for the young Manakete's body to realize just how much of her was pressing into him. Oh my... Her breasts were pressing into his back right between his wings - and the material of his own robe wasn't exactly thick. Oh wait, she wasn't wearing her robe anymore! What in the world was she... Oh my! Lysander's heart began to flutter in his chest, and - oh MY! - it was subtle, but suddenly aware of his body as he was, he felt a stirring in his groin. Now he just felt embarrassed. Sequestered as he'd been most of his life, Zander was frightened of intimacy, and the couple of times he'd considered masturbating had left him feeling uncomfortable with himself for days. It was odd, for he knew there was absolutely nothing wrong with sexual activity, but he just... couldn't help it. The young Manakete hadn't yet had a chance to sexually mature mentally even though he had physically almost ten years ago. What a way to be reminded of your short-comings... Fortunately, any further mortification on his part was interrupted when the woman offered to help, and before he could say yeah or nay, she was diving into the crystal clear waters wearing her odd, metallic undergarment. Is it common for the women of this world to prance about in their underwear? he couldn't help but wonder. If so, dealing with his own sexual immaturity could come a lot sooner than he wished. Curious, and hoping to get his mind off other things, the young Manakete dashed to a rocky outcropping that hung over where the shallows cut off into deeper water; he had a clear view of the woman and what she was doing. What was she... Was she chasing a fish? A huge fish! Zander had never seen such a monster in all his life! He stared in rapt awe as the battle went on, his mind wandering back to previous thoughts as he watched the woman's silvery, sinuous form move through the water, appearing perfectly at home in the aquatic environment. Speaking of which, how long had she been down there? No sooner had the question popped into his mind that she surfaced, the massive fish in tow. To say Zander was impressed would be an understatement; this fish would not only serve lunch, but dinner as well with plenty left over to smoke. The young Manakete was nearly overwhelmed. Too stunned to speak as she flipped the fish over before spreading herself out on the robe, Zander simply sat beside her; he was all too aware of the water droplets clinging to her lithe form. It took a couple of minutes for him to find his voice (and calm his raging heart); "That... was very impressive. Um, thank you very much. The old couple I'm staying with will be ecstatic." He paused. "Um, may I ask your name? You know mine, and, well, you've done so much for me already, that I just... I dunno. Thanks again." Talking in circles? That wasn't like him... Zander felt heat rise in his cheeks. |

The Good My'thyrian

Senriyu heard the boy's thanks and smiled a bit, though her eyes were still closed. She was starting to bake nicely, now, and she was beginning to become acutely aware of the fact that, even if it was material crafted in her own world, her under suit still needed to be dried. She opened an eye slowly, so as to watch Zander's roundabout speech degenerate into a flush of color in his cheeks. He's so cute and adorable! was Senriyu's first thought, rather immaturely, though it was her nature to be motherly....sort of. "You were catching fish for an elderly couple? How admirable! I'm certainly glad I could be of help, then; I haven't had any good swimming in a while, anyway. Aaahhhh, this sun does feel incredibly good..." Senriyu said to Zander as she stretched luxuriously, arching her back and extending her arms together above her head. It was almost scandalous, for a simple stretch. "Reh~, if I stay in this thing much longer, I'm going to rust or something!" she chimed adorably, sitting up slowly and looking for a tree with the right kind of branches. Finding a suitable subject, she rose slowly, almost languorously, taking her robe, but leaving her dagger behind. After all, she was only going ten feet. "Excuse me, Zander, while I change out of this thing. It's marvelously useful, but a complete hindrance when you don't let it dry properly," Senriyu called to the dragonling as she rearranged the lower and thicker branches of the tree to form a screen, concealing her torso and most of her legs from view. "So, Zander, I suppose I should really get around to telling you my name," Senriyu said as she began removing, or rather, peeling the suit off of her skin. Normally, she'd never do something in this proximity to any male. But Zander was such a polar opposite from Andumi that Senriyu felt totally comfortable by him. As she finished peeling off the suit down to her waist, she continued, "My full name is Senriyu Otohime Hayate, and apparently I carry the title of Maester for an ancient religious Empire that is most likely long dead and gone. But enough about me. Tell me more about yourself. I get the feeling that we can become very good friends in no time!" Senriyu said brightly as she finished removing the suit and began robing herself. Hanging the wet suit above a branch in full sunlight, she stepped out from the cover of the branches daintily, but confidently. Walking towards Zander's sitting place, Senriyu accidentally tripped and found herself falling full on the poor boy, entangling them both hopelessly in her robes. "Gah! Oh, dear, I'm so sorry! I'm usually not this clumsy! Oh~" she exclaimed in dismay as her inner mind thought of the machinations that could be done with a child this malleable once properly trained. |
