Desiree paced herself, placing one exhausted foot in front of the other like she had for the last several miles. She was lost. How could she be lost? she was sure she had been through this forest many times, but when the sun fell, she had lost her way. The trees seemed to play tricks on her, as if they were moving and messing up her trail. The forest smelled of early spring flora and fresh water rivers. Her surroundings would be very pleasant if she weren't so worn out. |

The elf ran through the trees, from branch to branch, without even making a sound. The only sound that could be heard was the bear crashing through the underbrush beneath him. With a grimace, Mosia let out a low whistle, and the bear stopped running. Stopping above him, the hunter dropped to the ground next to the bear. Kira, you really need to learn to stop making so much noise girl. Come on, lets do this, but, wait. Mosia put his hand to his ear and listened. He heard a stumble or a shuffle of somebody. He was sure it was humanoid, but he was not sure what type. With a grin, he practically ran up the tree next to him, and grabbed onto a branch. Swinging his legs up, he launched up to the next branch, which he in turn caught with his knees. Swinging himself up, he let out two high pitched chirps, and took off back through the trees. With a grin, he heard the brush crashing beneath him. Kira had caught the scent, and was on along with him. He hit a tree in a small clearing and stopped, listening to the crashing behind him. Ahead of him, he spotted a human looking figure standing in the moonlight. He hooked his legs on the branch, and swung down, getting a better look. He noticed the long blonde hair and grinned when he saw the ears. Elf He thought to himself. Swinging himself back up, he waiting for the time to be right. He didn't have to wait long, for soon after, a large brown bear crashed into the opening, and going up on her hind legs let out a soft, but still powerful growl. |

Desiree had decided she needed to stop for a rest and sat on the forest floor, leaning against the trunk of a tree. She was nearly asleep when she heard a soft but easily detected crunching. She slowly became alert, only as a large brown bear entered the small opening where she lay. The bear stood up on it's hind legs and growled. Panicked, Desiree stumbled to her feet and tried to put the tree between herself and the bear. She knew, even with her dagger and her stronger-than-the-average-girl strength thanks to her half-Amazon heritage, she was not match for a bear. And the tree wouldn’t stop it for long. But where else to go? “Damn it!” she cursed to herself, looking quickly around the forest tot ry to find another place to run. |

The hunter grinned as the girl scrambled for an exit. Skipping to the next tree, he dropped to the ground in the shadows a couple feet away from her. Having dropped silently, he knew she would have never detected him even if he had landed a couple inches from her. With a grin, he let out a low yet extremely loud whistle. The bear instantly set itself back to the ground, and started lumbering his way. Don't mind her. She won't hurt a soul without my command. If a stranger were to look at you, he would assume you were lost. Can this stranger possibly be correct? With a grin, Mosia kept his hand on his side, where he has some particularly nasty daggers. He didn't need his throwing daggers though, he always had the one in the arm sheath that he always had on. From a glance though, the man looked weaponless. Walking from the shadows, he chuckled softly, and let out another whistle. The bear dropped where she stood, and let out a deep and heavy sigh. We have been running for a while, and the poor girl always needs a rest. I am sorry if I woke you though. If you are lost, feel free to take a nap next to he bear. No safer place in all these woods. We will get you out in the morning. |

Desiree was startled and let out a gasp then the man who seemed to appear out of no-where let out a loud, ear-splitting whistle. She recovered as quickly as she could as he spoke and the bear obeyed him and lay down for a rest. "Strange you are, but i am not lost." she lied to the man. She wouldn't admit to this man if she were lost. "and, if you want to be safe, YOU can sleep next to your bear." She said, pulling her black hood over her head as she noticed this man for an elf. She took a step back around the tree, the way she had come, and closer to the bear, who was nearly asleep already. She giggled slightly as the bear let out a slight grunt in her dazed slumber. "She seems extremely comfortable." She mumbled. |

The elf grinned as he followed her step by step towards the clearing. He knew that Kira really was not asleep. She would not sleep until he let her know that he was safe. She would be up instantly if he was in any distress, and he knew that. The thing that always got him, was the fact that nobody else did. With an even wider grin, he replied. You cannot hide the truth from me fair lady. Even the passing bats can tell that you are lost. You have nothing to fear of the bear. Kira is completely harmless unless given my word otherwise. Please, sit and talk. You have nothing to fear. Only a fool with enter this area and attempt to start mischief. If you wish me to stay, I will happily make a fire, and a bite to eat. All that running made me hungry. He randomly did a flip in the air, and jogged over to Kira. Sliding to a stop, he dropped to his knees, and hugged her. Sitting down, he leaned up against her, and scratched her gently. It was rather calming to be next to her, his only friend to these lonely woods. Come, sit, no harm with fall you, I promise |

Desiree shook her head when he pressed for her admittance of being lost, but she remained silent. She knew she wasn't that easily read.... was she? She looked upward into the sky, but saw only tree branches and a sliver of the blackened sky and perhaps a single star. She knew if she continued to wander around in the dark, by morning, she would be hopelessly beyond lost, and too tiered to find her way out. She slowly stepped toward the bear he called 'Kira' as the elven boy scratched her. "If Kira doesn't mind," she said, slowly squatting down beside her, "I should probably sit still until sunrise and finish my journey after a rest." She said reaching her hand slowly out in front of the bears face for sniffing and approval. |

The elven man grinned, and then slowly walked a few bit away from the bear. He brushed his hip, and then flung his arms out. Silver streaks flew out, and spiked a rabbit to the ground. He walked over and grabbed the rabbit, and then held up a dagger. The dagger turned into a foot long spit, and Mosia impaled the rabbit with it from nose to rear. Looking around, he jogged off into the underbrush in search of more food and some wood. Back at the "camp" the bear stirred a little at Mosia's touch. With a grunt, she blew a breath of air out. When she inhaled, she caught a new scent. Opening her eyes, she saw the girl sitting there. With a yawn she rolled onto her back, and put her arms and legs strait out, inviting the girl to scratch her stomach if she wished. Mosia soon returned to the camp with three other rabbits on similar skewers. Kneeling down, he struck another dagger on a piece of flint, and lit a bit of brush that he had found. With a little blow, and a little bit of patience, he had a small campfire going. Looking up, he frowned, and then laughed. Sorry I made it so far away. Come a lil closer to the fire. Don't worry about Kira, she will follow. Give us something soft to lean against too. Setting the rabbits above the fire, he squatted there for a bit, wondering how this girl would react. |

When Kira flipped over onto her back, Desiree giggled and scratched Kira's belly. "You're too big to be so gentle." she cooed to the big, brown bear. She looked around the make shift camp and noticed the elven boy who's name had not been mentioned was gone. She returned her attention to Kira and placed her hand against the bears giant paw. Her hand seemed fairly small next to the bear's paw. Kira grunted softly, and Deriree moved her hand to her side and stared down at the bear. Suddenly, the elf man reentered the small makeshift camp with a load of rabbits and, word-lessly, stared making a camp fire. Desiree turned around and sat on the ground, he back leaning against Kira's side, observing this man. The name-less man reminded her of her father. He had the similar build that Desiree remembered her father having. Thin and lean. And the elven ears that she had inherited were obvious. 'Predictable. i guess all men really are the same. not only in shallow personality, but they all begin to look alike, too.' she though to herself. When he asked her to move closer to the fire, she stalled after averting her eyes, then looked back at the bear. He assured her she would follow. She inched closer to the fire, then sat, legs drawn up to her chest, as the bear followed her and plopped herself down behind her. "You seem to be a decent hunter..." The ranger looked over at the extremely playful bear and grinned. He was glad that somebody else had finally given the bear a chance before running away, or towards it. He walked to the other side of the fire, and leaned up against Kira beside the girl. Looking over, he got a good look at her. She was quite beautiful. She was also part elven from what he could tell, if not all elven. I am Mosia. I hope you are hungry, because there is enough rabbit there for both of us. Don't worry about Kira, she is on a short diet. She was getting lazy there for a little bit, so I started limiting what she could have. So, what brings you to this forest? Mosia leaned forwards, and spun the rabbits on their makeshift spits, making sure that all of them were nice and cooked. |

Desiree watched the flames from the small makeshift cooking pit as he spoke. She decided she would be vague in her answer, to be safe. After all, she didn't know him well enough to trust him, and his being male wasn't of great benefit to his trustworthiness. "My job requires alot of traveling and for me to remain unnoticed. The easiest way to get to the next city and remain unseen is by taking the forest route." 'easiest' being a loose term here. She had already lost the trail. It would have been the easiest rout had it not been overgrown and impossible to see in the night. "And what brings you out here?" she asked, intending to turn the focus from her before he could ask any deeper questions. |

Mosia grinned at the woman. It was obvious that she was trying to hide something from him. Oh well. He would get what he could out of her, and just enjoy the company. He leaned forwards and took the rabbits off the fire. Stabbing the steaks into the ground strait up and down to cool of. Looking at her, he smiled softly. These woods, are my home. Ever since I left my home, I have always been able to find safety and peace here. I know these woods as well as I know the touch of Kira. It gets quite lonely out here, and that really is why I figured I would try and help you. Not often somebody comes through here that just wants to talk. Either fighting, or running, or thieves, or something of that measure. To rare that somebody just wants to talk to a wandering soul. Mosia took one of the rabbits and took a bite of it. Chewing it, and then letting it slide down his throat. With a grin, he realized that he did actually cook these rabbits pretty well this time. |

Desiree listened to him and watched him eat. She felt a twinge of sympathy for him. "The world moves quickly and expects that anyone who doesn't move quickly with it is wrong or naive." She nodded in agreement. "But, if you don't mind my asking... Why do you stay out here? Away from any real civilization?" She hoped that the way the question was phrased didn't offend him as she leaned back on Kira, who snorted lightly and laid her head back down. |
