Tired and out of breath Kael slowed his pace down from a run to a walk before released the flow of magic he'd been sustaining. Without that flow of magic, the mist that had surrounded him since daybreak would be burnt up by the afternoon sun in a matter of minutes, removing his protection form the desert's heat. But that didn't matter, after pushing through the sands since sundown last evening the oasis was within sight, or would be once the mist thinned a little more.

The Earth will shake.
))Here's just a little something that won't be too effected once you edit/complete your post.((

How long it had been since they were last together, she could not recall. Many months had passed since the chaos surrounding the elements. Even now that the new guardians had appeared, there was still much to be done in restoring the natural order of things. Slowly but surely however, life was starting to resume its previous normality. And so at last, the earth guardian could return home.

It was just how she left it. Being located far out in the middle of the desert, (other than a bit of cracked earth her and there) the earth shrine was not effected by the twisted elements. Perhaps because it was already grounded by a guardian. She busied herself now with her usual routine, but with one difference. Tending to the garden and cleaning the shrine took longer than usual.

Every day Alezra had noticed she had to rest more, that she grew tired more often in just completing the most mundane task. Not only that, but she had changed, she had noticed it these past few months. Something was happening to her and it had nothing to do with the elements, or guardianship, or anything else. Instinct told her that she should prepare, but her more naive nature left her uncertain.

She was napping in the shrine now, finding it to be the coolest part of her oasis. Unlike all the other times before however, she had found it comforting to build a sort of bed in the shrine, made of various grasses and some discarded feathers with a prey animal's hide or two for good measure. It was here she dozed peacefully, ignorant to the twitches a new presence usually made in her home.

But she was dreaming about him...

It was unusual that Alezra hadn't come out to greet him, or at the very least see who'd entered her domain. Though it wasn't particualy surprising, she was a guardian after all and as such she was needed elsewhere from time to time, it was a little disappointing. Becoming a guardian had forced Kael to wander for longer than he'd intended and because of that it had been his hope to return and spend all the time he could with her before some inevitable occurance forced them to part ways again. But it seemed that some things just couldn't be helped.

Sighing Kael looked around the oasis that surounded the shrine, there wasn't too much for him to do here while waiting for Alezra's return. Even with the relitive sanctuary from the desert heat, Kael always found it too hot to hunt in the oasis while the sun was still up, one of the few banes of a fur coat thick enough so keep you warm enough to survive a blizard. Although he could instead hunt with magic, saving himself such discomforts, there was no enjoyment in such a simple kill so Kael normaly avoided that meathod unless nessasary.

I'll go rest in the shrine... Setting off in that direction, Kael realised that he couldn't quite use "the shrine" now that he had one of his own to care for. ...this shrine, untill nightfall. I might be able to tell how long ago she'd left from there. Honestly he didn't believe that, but it would be a nice thought while it lasted.

It wasn't long before Kael stumbled upon a sight that warmed him to his core, for lieing there in a nest of soft grasses and furs was the sole creature he'd been missing for these past months. Carefully tredding lightly as not to wake her Kael settled next to her, content in watching her sleeping form. There was something different about her, she had gained a good deal of weight since he'd last seen her and yet despite this she held a healthy glow about her that Kael couldn't recall ever noticing before. An unwilling yawn reminded Kael just how long it had been since he'd last rested. Lulled by Alezra's comforting scent and warmth he drapped an arm across his mate before bring his head to rest next to her, only to sit upright suddenly as a small jab struck the arm laying atop of Alezra.

She was in a rather deep sleep, the kind only animals seem to fall into. An ear would twitch briefly, but it was the only motion she gave except her breathing. Subconsciously though she would snuggle into the newly arrived warmth. A jolt would awake her however, as she folded down her wings and stretched cat like. With a yawn she would turn, smiling gleefully yet sleepily. "Hi Kael." She said softly in her drowsiness. However, she would perk up at his presence once she was more awake. As soon as she came to her senses. She pounced him! "Kael!"

None who knew Alezra well would have been surprise by her greeting, and having been subjected to it more often then most, the moment Kael noticed that glint of recognition in waking guardian's eyes he subconsciously brace himself. The next thing he knew Alezra was on top of him. Her unfamiliar weight, having caught him off guard, had knocked the wind out from him leaving him prone and pinned beneath her in spite of his precaution. Despite initially cringing at the pain of her forepaws in his chest, Kael made no move to escape. For after the long months the two had been separated any sort of physical contact between them had been long missed, leaving even this painful greeting a welcomed experience.

Reaching up the love struck lycan gently pulled Alezra in close in order to kiss her firmly upon the muzzle. "Is something wrong?" Since first seeing her as he'd walked in, Kael knew something was drastically different. Although incapable of seeing the obvious cause of this change, his instincts were still sharp enough to know that her condition was far from wrong. Yet an inability to describe exactly what about her had changed had left him with those clumsy words.

Having forgotten which form she had currently been keeping to these days, the guardian gave little regard fr the weight of her ponce. Of course, she had gained a bit too, for as of yet unknown to her reasons. She was still half asleep, after all. "Hi Kael. Hi. How was trip? Good? Desert not to hot?" She was, of course, ecstatic. It had been some time since they had seen each other. Despite this, her loyalty to him would always be unwavering. There as no one else but Kael! As she at last recalled that she had landed full force atop him, she careful stepped off, making sure not to flex her claws as she did so. "Wrong? What wrong? Nothing wrong?" Wait ... what was he referring to again?

As Alezra climbed off him, Kael rocked up into a casual sitting position, all the while staring intently at his mate. She seem to move slightly differently to how remember, though he dismissed that to merely being apart for so long. Yet other than that the only difference the lycan could pick out was that her stomach seemed bloated. If it wasn't that her face remained as lean as ever he would have begun wondering where she'd have come across so many festival sweets, apparently it was no uncommon for them to cause city dwellers to gain an unhealthy amount of weight. But she certainly didn't appear to be unhealthy, far from it.

Kael pondered over all this as he waited patiently for her to finish. There was no point in trying to keep up with her manner of speaking, all that would do is leave him lost after the first few questions and needing her to repeat herself. "You know I don't travel during the day if I can help it, so the heat doesn't bother me. But my trip was... event full. But we'll talk about that later." Kael's reasons for delaying that particular conversations was two fold. Firstly he wished to get to the bottom of Alezra's condition. But primarily, even after all this time, Kael had little idea how to tell her that there were two guardians currently in the room and what or how to ask for the guidance he felt he undoubtedly would need. "What I want to know is, why is your belly to big?" Kael had never been one for subtlety or tack when trying to find out about something. So the only thing he could do is ask directly about the obvious, as he lent towards her slightly with naive curiosity plain on his face.

Tails swishing, the chimera watched her mate. She had not even noticed the weight she'd gained. However the strangest feelings and desires had been welling up within her lately. Like the need to dig burrows and hidden dens virtually all over the oasis. From the dried grasses piled n the shine, to holes dug under tree roots, the guardian had made enough hidden lairs for adventurers and animals to stumble upon for lifetimes. Of course, being the guardian did make moving dirt much easier.

"What?" Naive as ever, the chimera simply scratched at an ear. "...Um ... oh!" But, the guardian was an animal, instinct told her, and she had dealt with many pregnant animals in the oasis. "Oh oh oh! Surprise!" She almost chased her tails she was so excited. Instead however, she merely pounced the lycan again. "Kael, Kael. Kael! We're having. we're having. Puppies! Cubs! Furry little chimera tiger lycan baaaabies."

He was stunned, whether by the revelation or by the pounce that accompanied it it was hard to say, but for a few moments Kael couldn't move nor place one thought after another. Kael almost laughed at his misunderstanding, for a moment there he's thought she'd meant the two of them were having a child. But that couldn't be the case, she must have meant that a number of the oasis's inhabitants would be giving birth soon, no wonder she was so exited. After all, it at been months since they'd last been together, both in the basic sense of the term and the more intimate one, even it she'd fallen pregnant the very last time they'd mated there would be no way to hid it. Running his hand almost wistfully over Alezra's swollen belly a sudden kick broke all disillusions. Alezra was pregnant! He was going to be a father!

Try as he might, all the soon to be father could stamper out was a dumbfounded, "H-how?" Of cause he knew how it happened, had they both been human they would have undoubtedly had a couple running round some time ago. But neither of them were completely human, strictly speaking Alezra wasn't even humanoid, and after nothing had happened within the first few year of being together Kael had long given up on the possibility of children. Yet after almost five years content with the simple fact that Alezra was and would alway be his only family, this improbably miracle occurs leaving his mind reeling with how or why it happen after so long. The most logical reason, that most males would jump to instantly, that his mate had slept with another of a race closer to her own, never occurred to him. They were both incorruptibly loyal to one another, for Kael's part he would believe her against all logic or evidence. ...because she's slowly taking a more complete human form? Maybe a once in a life time luck? Or perhaps... His reasoning was cut off mid stream as a tiny detail finally hit home. Puppies. Cubs. Babies. That all means more than one!

She was oblivious. How could her announcement have meant any other thing? As for why it was not until now that they finally were to have children of their own. Well ... Alezra had never really thought of it. She knew plenty of how nature worked, of how animals were born and that they just didn't appear out of nowhere. But other than their own coupling (obviously), she had never heard anything about the act. Instinct would prevail however, even in the chimera guardian. She knew she was going to have children soon. And somehow ... she was unwilling to shapeshift while their were cubs within. What if it hurt them? She wasn't going to risk it. Giving a growling purr laugh, she nuzzled the weretiger affectionately. "Don't know how many, more than one. Maybe ... six!"
