Emperor of Flames

His mind was slipping; madness had begun to over take him. The ebon flames that surrounded even him had begun to attempt to take his soul, his flesh as fuel, as food. No! The Ebon Flames listened to his will, he would not become their food their sacrifice! Too much, too much power for his mortal frame to withstand… or at least it was until Andumi quelled that hunger foolishly. Faster did he begin to drain him of power, and as such… it brought the balance of power back to a reasonable level. Close… the immortal would have had to shift just to raise his threshold. Yes his favor this fight stayed, even as the amount of opponents increased. Numbers don’t win fights fool! STRENGTH DOES!” Sujin roared at the top of his lungs as his body again exploded with burning might. Ashmorne in his right literally begun to quiver and shake, yet… not out of excitement… but fear. The ribbons of crimson heat that protected her slender form grew larger until she herself was hidden completely by her own flames… within a maelstrom of fire. On his left however, grossly did some organic substance seem to stretch from his hand… wait… it was his hand. The entirety of the ebon flames concentrated on that one point, focusing, compressing. A blade, easily long as Sujin is tall appeared on his left fist… The immortal grinned, his eyes screaming for blood as he opened his human jaws… his canines extended as if he was restraining himself from transforming. A sphere appeared as his mouth opened… sucking in everything debris and wreckage from all around into a crimson globe… a mini storm within a bubble thin skin. The army charged… and Sujin let loose the sphere no bigger than his own fist at the hoard of faceless warriors grinning deeper still as his frame disappeared from the point in which it stood. Impact screamed into the charging army, and the first solider it made contact with, it erupted in a storm of pure kinetic force, literally blowing apart everything in its path easily putting much more than just a dent in the army sent after Suj. As the immortal’s form appeared falling from the sky itself, Ashmorne was launched from his right hand blasting down to the earth below as Impact blew a crater the size of a small town in the square itself. From the sky Sujin called “OBLITERATE ASHMORNE!” again his voice continued to slip, sounding more primal with each word, the only thing that kept a forceful transformation at bay was the fact that his power was being drained as quickly as he could produce it. The sword connected with the earth, and from the ground below as it summoning it from the very core of Terra did the worlds lifeblood, lava erupt from many cracks in an explosion that would shower the molten liquid over everything in the area… pooling in the crater behind her and adding yet another dent to the army that charged him. Sujin’s frame continued to slowly descend to earth, as Berserk Dusk rested on his shoulder wild eyes gleaming in delight as he watched below ready for more… begging for it. Deep inside did the beast wish to unleash, his chains were loose… soon soon the lock would be opened and the infinite well that is Sujin’s might would come flooding out. |

The battle raged as the city's defenses were beaten back and then reformed almost instantly as the flow of power from Sujin was drained. Of course, this made reconstruction difficult, but fortunately the city's design allowed for such contingencies as this, and had redundancies throughout its architecture to ensure that the spell-form was kept operational no matter what. Deep, deep down, below the floor of the plains, below even the delicate Artificial Intelligence Cortex that was the Enlightenment of Sorrow, lay the original source of power for the city. A suite of rooms, all covered in precious metals and coursing with the power being fed throughout the city's grid, was spotlessly clean, and brightly, if moodily, lit. The entire complex shook, even at this depth, as a chasm was opened, then swiftly closed again by Enlightenment's tireless work. The first room was dome-like in appearance, as were all of the rooms of the suite, being connected to the rest of the city by only its power conduits and a single spiral staircase, though there was a magical lift in the center of the staircase that only went up. The main room was large, easily over fifty feet in diameter, with the rooms adjacent being somewhat smaller. Oddly, though, those other rooms contained, not power converters nor maintenance systems, but simple necessities needed to keep a humanoid life-form alive for an indefinite period of time. But those rooms don't concern us, because right now they were unoccupied. The room that was inhabited was the entry atrium, containing only a single large modular chair in the exact center, matte black and heavily reinforced by a thick pillar of titanium and power conduits that connected the chair to the floor. However, the chair, too, doesn't concern us. What is interesting in all of this completely otherwise wasted space was the man wearing a crimson red coat with breeches to match. It was he who happened to be sitting in the aforementioned chair, and apparently watching the battle through the use of the city's glyph-based light interface emitters. His boots were made of synthetic materials, in addition to leather, and of an unknown, but masterful, workmanship. A black silk vest over a pristinely white shirt could be seen underneath the coat's aggressive, flaring cut, and a large black diamond, cased tastefully in platinum, as well as two other smaller ones, graced his neck and cuffs. A pair of gloves, inscribed with runic sigils and fluid lines, concealed his hands. The figure smiled at the dragon's antics, frowned at the destruction, and raised a perfectly sculpted eyebrow quizzically at the status reports he received from Enlightenment. True, everything hadn't gone quite according to plan, but all contingencies had been prepared for, and were still within normal parameters. However, he did grin with a dazzlingly bright wolfish grin at the heightened stress levels that Sujin was placing on his body by using that...other blade. "Enlightenment. Decrease the amount of power being drained by 30%. The storage units are all at peak capacity; we'll switch over to them for the time being. Increase the degrees of independent freedom given to the defense system's sub-AI by 78%. If subject label 'Sujin' doesn't begin a dragonic transformation soon, decrease the power drained once again by 5%, and continue doing so until a threshold limit is achieved. Once the subject has completely succumbed to madness, cool him down in the experimental Absolute Zero containment chamber at once and commence with a full drain of his powers. I want to be able to run some...tests...on this one." "As you wish." Enlightenment's reply was swift and curt, oddly enough. It wasn't usually cross, or even ill-tempered with anyone. But it appeared to not much care for this mysterious man. The man in question barked a short laugh, in a light, melodious voice before stretching extensively within the chair, then jumping out of it with apparent decisiveness. He sauntered over to another room, picking up what appeared to be a pair of zweihanders, but with odd changes from their ancient counterparts. Belting them on, he hummed a slight tune to himself as he adjusted his appearance in a mirrored section of the walls that was absent of any conduits. Satisfied, he turned and reentered the atrium, ignoring everything else and walking right out the door. The man smiled to himself. Andumi syr Reignas had done well to last this long. However, now it was time for a real challenge for the Lord of Flame. As he stepped onto the pedestal containing the magical lift, he casually cracked his knuckles and realigned his neck with anticipation. It was time for a show of real strength. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile, the battle raged on aboveground between Sujin and Andumi's battle form. The aerial forces launched barrage after barrage of immensely powerful ice and blizzard magic at Sujin, combined with the leeching and most certainly envenomed blades of the infantry slicing and cutting at Sujin's form. Andumi himself lunged in to stay within close range as he slashed and stabbed with blinding speed. It was almost too perfect, the battle form he'd created. By turning his shield into an assault-type barrier, he could attack with deadly and supreme impunity. It was only a matter of time, now, before eventually the dragon gave up from sheer loss of blood. And Andumi would do his best to hasten that point. |

Emperor of Flames

More and more enemies poured unto the immortal from all sides. His body wracked with pain as he continued to suppress his hunger, the power within welling inside saved only from the fact that he was constantly being drained. Berserk Dusk steadily grew deadlier as he used the weapon itself like a flood pipe. Allowing the energy he used to compress it into its form dissipate and again and again as the constant flow from within poured free of the ebon sword in his left hand. His eyes swirled, flickered, and burned as if they themselves had been set ablaze. With every scream, every taunt, and every grunt, ebon flames licked from his mouth and lips, spilling out like a waterfall. He could hold it, for now he could hold it those where the words that continued to repeat inside the head of the immortal. As long as he continued to drain the strength as quickly as his blood produced it he could hold on. Long ago did the internal hemorrhaging heal, but it felt as if his very vines were bursting and healing one after another within his frame. The draining! The draining was drawing the power from his physical body only for his body to heal the damage in the process, thus causing an infinite loop of power that would continue to be drawn from him hurting worse still as the immortal attempted to restrain himself instead of just letting go in the first place. And it was then, in an instant did he feel the draining stop and his ability to control himself grows. Slowly did Berserk Dusk return to its original elegant yet wild shape, releasing that infernal chaotic form. Berserk Dusk swept before him in an arc so wide it was as if he was provoking all to attack his openings. With a deep breathe the immortal regained himself and in that brief instant, he reacted to Andumi who had charged before him after nigh an entire battalion of his soldiers turned to nothing by the black flames of Berserk Dusk. From the sky a barrage of Ice and Water magic, Sujin reacted by quickly squaring his footing and with his left fist, unleashing a flurry of rapid strikes that had no real aim other than striking in a full 360 degree arc of the pulsing heat from the sword. The Ice magic literally evaporated off the sword itself as Sujin constantly swung it, creating a sort of “heat shield” in front of his person super heating the air to the point that it literally ignited and exploded. The explosion ripped through yet another legion of soldiers just in time for Sujin to face off against Andumi once more. The immortal faded through the assault of the sword armed beast thing in front of him Infinite stepping to his right and behind the man as he brought Berserk Dusk down like a hammer from above. The sword turned from ebon black to a molten gold color, and the moment it made contact with anything, Andumi, one of his soldiers or even debirs on the ground, the blade exploded with Sujin himself in the epicenter of the entire thing. Again the immortal would shake the very core of this city. And again Sujin has yet to even transform as he continued to regain more and more control over his body. But as he gained control… he slowly begun to lose interest. Playtime was over. |
