Alana watched the waves roll up and crash upon one another. She wanted to play in the surf, but she had somewhere to be. Somewhere she didn't want to be. It was time for her to go back to her parents for a while, just to say hello tp her siblings. Or maybe she'd go tomorrow. Yeah, tomorrow would be better. She would be able to handle herself better then, since right now, she was still high on the night she'd shared with Lonan barely a day before. She wondered if she'd always be this way now that Lonan was hers, truly hers. She almost wanted to be, but feeling like a fluttery little child would probably mess up her jobs in the guild. She closed her eyes, breathing in the salty sea air. A smile graced her lips. Pulling off her shoes, she plopped down on the sand and let the surf wash over her legs. She clicked her tongue, and Tikina came to her. Kairi followed soon after. "Go on, my loves," she murmured. "You two can go play today. Do what you want." Tikina immediately scampered over a sand dune, deciding to chse birds. Kairi slithered off after the ferret, probably going to raid the nests that Tiki cleared the birds from. Alana smiled. Those two had come so far. |

Akire strode along the beach, not quite sure to make of the last few weeks of his life. They had been eventful enough. He had met Mag. He had helped some haphazard fool of an elf that, strangely enough, he had come to like to a certain degree. He'd killed a group of slavers, finally extinguishing the last of them that he had left around from their first triste and had actually discovered what it meant to have someone understand his reasons for hating his brother to the core of his being. Sighing to himself, he folded his arms over his broad chest and stood at the water's edge, letting the waves reach the tip of his boots before the water lapped away from him. He was so lost in thought that he hadn't even caught sight of the woman perched on the beach not far from him. He glanced over in her direction, offering her a friendly wave and then turned back towards the water. The salty smell of the ocean hit his nose, and he wrinkled it momentarily before accepting the smell as a cleansing and soothing one. A breeze blew up from the beach, and instinctively, Akire went still. He knew that smell. He knew it better than any other. His brother's scent. He growled under his breath and stalked towards the source of the smell, frowning mightilly the entire way. It wasn't until he was but a few feet from the woman that he realized, finally, that the smell was too faint to have been coming directly from his brother, and instead, came from the woman. It was a peculiar thing, his scent on the little beauty in front of him. She seemed happy and at peace with herself, and that only made Akire more skeptical. Finally, he smoothed out his features as he looked down at her, deciding, that if she did have anything to do with his brother, he didn't want to alert her to the fact. He would rather gently prod the information out of her, and then determine what to do with it. "Hello there, I'm A-" He paused a moment, if this woman was in cahoots with his brother, there was little doubt that she had already heard his name uttered from his lips. Ah, to hell with it. If his general physical make up wasn't enough to hint at the fact that he was Lonan's brother, his eyes certainly were. "Akire." He regarded her a moment. "Lovely day to be outside." He said, trying to force the cheeriness he didn't feel into his tone. |

Alana's dark-chocolate-brown eyes opened when she felt rather than heard the presence of another creature. At first, she wondered if Kairi or Tikina had come back. But a man down the beach waved at her. She lifted herself up onto her elbows as a breeze ruffled her hair, looking at the man. She didn't know him, or at least she didn't think she did, but no point in being rude. She waved back, then put a hand over her eyes to shade them and get a better look at him as he turned to survey the sea. Blond hair, built well, strong to no end, she assumed. And probably an ass, by the way he holds himself, she thought. But of course, no reason to be rude or obnoxious about it. He suddenly seemed to stiffen, turning her direction again. Walking her way, Alana got the sense he wasn't happy. He loomed over her, introducing himself. "Lovely day to be outside," he said. Akire was his name, hmm? She didn't know it, but she did know those eyes of his. Lonan's eyes. They captured her gaze the same way her lover's did. She smiled, attempting to be friendly, even as she felt the malice practically oozing from every pore of this man's body. "Alana," she responded. "It is isn't it? What brings you to the beach today?" She found herself absolutely unable to remove her gaze from Akire's, the overwhelming sense that something was about to go horribly wrong making her shiver. But she kept a sweet face on, her upbringing reminding her that no matter how repulsive the guest, you behave as if you're meeting royalty. So she kept herself in check... For now. |

Akire eyed her for a moment longer. Alana. Interesting. She distinctly smelled of his brother and... Ugh! Akire, don't even go there. You dont want to think of your brother panting and huffing overtop any woman! Agh! He thought, disgusted by how clearly his brother's scent was marked out on the woman in front of him. He softened his gaze though, and tried to appear less... intense. He smiled genuinely at her question. What was he doing here? Trying to find some peace and quiet to think for a while, on his own? "I came here to think." He looked at the ground in front of him, his expression troubled for a moment. "A lot has been happening lately." He muttered under his breath. He glanced up and over to her once again and tried to reclaim his casual posture. "How about yourself?" His stomach was roiling, not sure what to do, ask, say or think about the woman. He wanted to hate her for her relation and relevance to his brother, and yet he couldn't bring himself to do it. She was a beautiful woman and hadn't done anything wrong to him, and yet, he couldn't help the plan that was already starting to form in the back of his mind in regards to the woman. Lonan's scent was so strong on her, that he was beginning to wonder what Lonan would do if her scent was somehow muddied by his own. The thought made him want to grin in feral satisfaction, but he restrained himself from doing so. |

Alana smiled softly. "Yeah, I could say the same. I needed to get away for a while, from everything, you know? Just escape anything that's in my normal routine." Her smile took on a different nature as her thoughts slid to Lonan. Her Lonan, her one and only love. Her eyes glazed over for a moment as she daydreamed of him. He was one part of her routine she would never, never change, never replan. She brought herself back to the here and now. She looked at Akire, then stood up, brushing sand off her pants, reaching around to attempt to swat at her back. When that failed, she grabbed the edges of the back of her shirt and shook it to loosen the debris. She looked over the hill as a great flock of birds flew up, squawking violently. She laughed. "Tikina's found the motherload of victims to chase, apparently," she said aloud, then explained. "Tiki's a ferret I rescued. When she was healthy again, she wouldn't leave me alone, so I kept her." She thought about Lonan's ferret, Kayda, and how much Tikina had loved playing with him. This had turned out well for Alana, as it had kept Tiki busy whilst she spent time with Lonan. She turned back to Akire. "Any little creatures following you around?" |

Akire made a bit of a screwed up face as Alana explained the situation about her having a ferret and wanted to roll his eyes. That sounded an awful lot like a woman that Lonan would be attracted to. He adored animals and had constantly played with any animal he had found in the village they had grown up in. He shook his head and tried to school his features in front of Alana though. "No. No critters following me around." He muttered. He had watched her as she stood up and shook the sand off of her. His plan was still forming in the back of his mind. Once he marked his scent on her, how would he get the hell away from her fast enough so that she wouldn't throttle him for touching her? Did it really matter? What was a little throttling when compared to knowing that Lonan would be driven insane with the knowledge that Akire had been close to his mate? He decided to keep the conversation easy, so long as she was willing to talk. "And who, or shall I say what, rather, is Tikini?" He asked, tilting his head to the side a little in his curiosity. |

“Tikina,” Alana corrected gently. Either the guy was slow, or he hadn’t been paying attention. The latter annoyed her, but it was much more likely. Just in case, she repeated her story about her pet. Slowly. “I have a snake too, Kairi. I only tell you so that you don’t panic if you see her. She’s utterly harmless, or at least when she’s not trying to protect me.” She laughed. “But right now, she’s playing with Tikina. Don’t worry though, I’m quite capable of defending myself.” Akire sort of looked like the kind of guy who’d go all knight-in-shining-armor if a girl needed help. And she hated that. She hadn’t gone through years of training to be coddled. She’d told Lonan that too, and it was probably the only reason he let her out of his sight. Lonan. The thought made her return to Akire’s eyes. Cerulean blue, exactly like her lover’s. Too weird, and no way it was a coincidence. Curiosity got the best of her as she spoke. “Akire, you wouldn’t happen to know anyone called Lonan Hunter, would you?” She slapped a hand over her mouth. “I’m sorry, that was rude of me to ask.” She flushed a bit at her uncontrollable tongue. |

Akire grunted. His mind was, indeed, in other places. He really wasn't at all interested in the female's little pets or anything of the sort. A snake. He could deal with a snake. He was a damned were-leopard. He watched her a moment and then shrugged a shoulder. Yep, this one seemed like she was suited enough for Lonan. He did, after all, walk around with that bloody ferret of his all the time now. He wanted to roll his eyes in disgust. His brother had always relied on animals as his source of entertainment and companionship. It wasn't fair that he had a beautiful woman now to add to his growing list of fortunes while Akire still had no one. His eyes narrowed dangerously at her next question and his feet shifted. He wasn't sure how to answer the question at first. Should he lie to her and tell her he didn't know him? He wanted to roll his eyes at his own stupidity. His eyes marked him as clearly as his demeanour or the fact that he was another were-feline. Of course she would see through the idiotic lie as soon as it was uttered from his lips. "You could say that." He grunted. He looked down at the ground a moment before looking back up at her again. He plopped down on the sand beside her, hard, as if trying to regain control of his emotions. He always felt a little drained when he thought of his brother. He finally tilted his head to the side and watched her a moment. "I'm sure you've already guessed though, that I'm his brother." He muttered, gesturing towards his eyes, telling her that he was well aware of the fact that they were a distinct give away. "And judging by his scent clearly marked on you, I'm going to say that you're his mate." He said, using the last word as if it were a vile one. He was so bitter towards his brother that he couldn't help but wonder whether or not Lonan had made the right decision to leave all those years ago, whereas he had been in the wrong for staying. He shook that thought off. His sense of duty and pride in his family and village had been too great to have just abandoned them all. |

Akire sat down beside her, rather hard, she thought. Alana actually flinched when his gaze narrowed. Damn. Must be a sore topic, she thought as he continued to speak. Every word he spoke about Lonan dripped from his mouth like acid. Alana very subtly began to inch away from him as she spoke, "Um... I guess you could say that..." You GUESS?! a little voice in her mind yelped. You're head over heels for him! Ya think?! she retorted silently. But I can't tell Akire that! Who knows what he might do! She glanced at him. Whatever he had against Lonan, it must be pretty bad for this much negative will to be emanating from him. But still, this was her lover they were talking about. Defiantly, she asked, "Is there something wrong with that?" |

Akire considered her question for a moment. Was there something wrong with the fact that Akire had worked and struggled his entire life to have the very meager existance he had, while his brother, who had trounced off and walked away from all sense of responsibility he had, as well as his whole family, had the one thing that Akire so desperately wanted? Someone to love him like that. Someone who would care for him and love him unconditionally. He could see it in Alana's eyes and didn't need to know anymore other than what he saw there to understand that she loved him in that sense. "No, there's nothing wrong with it." He murmured absently. Right... as if. "I just wish that for once, life would cut me a break and give me a good round once in a while and let him suffer a bit. He has everything that I wish I had and no guilt for his actions to boot." He muttered as he shifted his position a little. He hadn't lost track of the fact that the little woman had started shifting away from him, and Akire knew he needed to act fast if he was still going to put his plan into motion before the woman fled for her life... or for Lonan's arms. "I just need you to pass on a message to him from me." He said briefly. With that, Akire leaned in closer to her, quite quickly and pressed his lips to hers, caressing the side of her face with a hand, more to mark his scent on her than give her an source of comfort. He let his tongue slip gently along the seam of her lips before he pulled away. He shouldn't have given her the chance to recover from her shock. He should have stood up, turned around and ran as fast as he could in the other direction, but at the same time, he couldn't help but want to see her reaction. Some distant part of him wanted to see and make sure that this woman was actually worthy enough to be his brother's mate. He wanted to see if she had enough backbone and promise to get her through in his world. If she didn't he knew she'd be crushed. Edited by Akire Hunter, Jun 20 2009, 11:26 AM.

Alana listened quietly to Akire's words, wondering more and more what her lover had done to be so hated. She almost pitied the man beside her, and even began scooting closer again, placing her hand upon his for comfort. She turned her face towards him, her mouth slightly open as she prepared to speak, to try and ask what Lonan had done. Her eyes flicked wide open as his lips pressed against hers, her body freezing in place as shock overwhelmed her. Akire's hand on her cheek made her shiver, and she came back to life. Clamping her lips shut as his tongue ran along her mouth, she reared up her right hand. Barely a moment after he'd begun to pull away, Alana smashed her fist into the side of his face. Pain raced up her arm; it had been like trying to punch a rock, but he'd obviously felt a serious amount of pain from it. She lurched backwards, jumping to her feet. "Are you CRAZY?!" she screamed at him. "What the hell are you thinking, you pig! Absolutely furious, she aimed a kick for his crotch. The guy needed to be taught a lesson, whether he was misfortunate or not. |

Akire felt her resistance, and had a pretty good idea, at that point, that he was in trouble. As he pulled away, he braced himself for an open handed slap, knowing well enough that that was what he well deserved for his actions, but caring very little. He would have gotten his point across in the action, and he was content enough for it. The only problem was, the woman had more fight in her than he had originally thought. His ears popped and his head snapped back at the punch she delivered to the side of his head, causing him to curse out loud upon impact. He reached up and cupped the side of his face as she began screaming her profanities at him. He also, deserved that. Akire was on the verge of climbing to his feet when she went in for the attack again. He was on his hands and knees trying to regain his footing, composure and sense of balance, when her foot shot out towards him. He was only able to catch the toe of her boot as it headed straight for him and connected with his groin, causing him to double over in the blinding pain. He dry heaved once, the pain so intense that he felt that next time he would, indeed throw up from the aftershock of it. He curled in on himself in the fetal position, gasping for breath momentarily. |

Alana's chest heaved as she raged at him. Words fell out of her mouth that she hadn't even thought she'd known before now. Fury made every inch of her body hum. Her hands shook at her sides, balled into fists so tight, her fingers were turning white. She waited for a moment while he recovered from her kick. She wanted him to feel all the pain, all the misery she had in store for him, and she didn't want any one blow to hurt any less than the one before it. She pushed him onto his back with her foot, forcing him to uncurl. She pressed one foot against his throat, closing off his respiratory tract. Profanities dripped from her lips like acid, in between almost every word she said. "You don't touch me! Understand?!" She lifted her foot and slammed it down, intending to break his nose with the heel of her shoe. Lonan, if he still means anything to you, please forgive me. |

The moment's grace that the woman had given him to regain his composure was enough for him to be able to react by the time she pulled her foot away from his throat to send it down onto his face again. He rolled away in the sand and then pushed himself up onto his feet in a crouch, his eyes alight with the thrill of the battle. He watched her a moment as she raged on. She had every right to be angry with him, but a kick to the groin was drawing the line to the amount of abuse and punishment Akire would take from the little woman. He smiled faintly at her, despite the fact that his stomach still heaved and gurggled and he still felt the urge to vomit. "Good, at least I know your woman enough to deal with my brother. Against all ill odds and wishes I have for him.... treat him well. He was just as alone growing up as I am." He said past the thick lump in his throat. He was still pissed at the little woman for the kick she had delivered, but he wasn't about to do anything that would directly anger her again for the time being. |

He rolled away from her, and her foot smashed into sand. Her eyes flashed as he stood. The sympathy and feeling in Akire's words barely reached her through her anger as she moved forward. "I'll treat much better than you've ever treated him, I can guarentee that!" Irrational though it was to still go after him, his speech about Lonan only made her more thirsty to see him bleed. She spun around, planting a fierce kick into his stomach. She almost wanted him to fight back, to give her a real reason to utterly destroy him. |
