Awaiting for her companion in the vast unknown the girl with the silver hair and brown eyes waited under the scorching heat of the sun. The travellers who passed by looked at her suspciciously as the Longsword strapped on her back gleamed brightly. It's been awhile now and her companion hasn't shown himself. They had an arrangement. An arrangement that involves their swords and a few lives. She waited patiently, and if he does turn up, the swords would be given their taste of fresh blood. |

Andumi was surprised that such heat could be found in the Northern lands of Avalon. He'd been here a while, now, and had found that those in power were firmly entrenched; without a stable gateway back to his own world, there was no way he was going to be able to raise an army to overthrow them. No matter. It seemed he'd had some luck adjusting here; already he had acquired weapons, and even had the good fortune to land a mercenary assignment with a fellow adventurer who went by the name of Cleis. Of course, he had yet to even meet them. As he trudged along the broad stone paved road leading to the rendezvous point, he saw a flash of silver hair and the gleam of a longsword. "Could it be..." he breathed, abandoning restraint and running full tilt down the road, robe and cape flying to reveal the greatsword and assassin's blade belted to his waist. He skidded to a halt faster than he would have thought possible, a slowly settling cloud of dust behind him a testament to his speed. "Senriyu, is that you?" he asked desperately. But a quick scan of the girl's face revealed the truth. "No...too young...but still, an odd trait for two beings to have it." he muttered in disappointment, nearly having to kneel to see eye to eye with the young girl. "Oh, but where are my manners! I apologize, young miss, I believed you to be someone else. She looks much like you, though. Tell me, young one; what is a girl your age doing carrying sword like that and standing out in this oppressive heat all alone?" Andumi switched seamlessly from hope to a fatherly tone as he looked up and down the road. True, this girl was at the rendezvous point, but...surely she couldn't be Cleis. Andumi decided to ask, though reluctantly. "Uhm...excuse me, miss, but...you wouldn't happen to be a...Cleis, would you? If you are, I'm your contact, Corvan. You have my apologies in advance if I offended you." |

She had to lift her head to look straight into the eyes of purple who belonged to the young man with strong build. She sensed something in him that made her feel uneasy. No matter, she had to make sure this Corvan or who he claims to be, is what he claims to be. Just in case this person is one that belongs to the enemy, she had to pass as enigmatic first. Under the blinding sun, standing at the rendezvous point, she began to decipher who this young man really was. “I am she who you ask for,” cam her reply which was cold but somehow it came out in a stubborn child’s way. “If in any case you have offended me, I am pretty sure I would have killed you on the spot.” She eyed him up and down, scanning his facial expression which was a clear blank. She couldn’t tell whether he was lying or not but she tried to anyway. Her main focus was on the scar which ran down his face and the blades which were belted on his waist. He was strikingly handsome and attractive. No one would suspect that the two of them were hired for a mercenary assignment but is he the one she was waiting for? She stared at him with her brown eyes trying to look for some flaw but she couldn’t find any which would give him away. ‘This man couldn’t be my contact,’ she silently spoke to herself turning her back at the one who called himself Corvan. Just then as her back was turned and her gaze was fixed at the horizon, she noticed there were men in black hoods just a fair distance away from them. The deserted road which her back was turned away from ago now had those eerie figures standing there. Taking them as associates of this man called Corvan, she let herself be controlled by the blade of her sword. “Bastard.” she said full of venom to Corvan quickly unsheathing the Longsword from her back and whirling around to smite him. In a quick motion her sword clashed with his own. This place is full enough of traitors like you,’ she muttered under her breath with hate. ‘We need to eliminate them to keep this place safe.’ With only hate in her heart, she let herself be blinded by it and didn’t even bother to hear what her so-called contact had in his defense. |

Andumi was taken aback slightly at the sudden rudeness which this little girl showed. Of course, that hadn't stopped him from pulling out his assassin's blade and locking hilts with the girl's sword as she whirled to attack him. Her words, however, puzzled him. "Bastard and traitor, am I? Odd words from someone who I was hired to work with. Is this how you treat all of your partners? Very well, then, it seems you have chosen death." he asked her lightly. Noticing that his words were lost on her, however, he simply gave a small shrug and shoved her back with his superior strength, making use of her lowered guard to deliver a punishing roundhouse kick to her temple. If it worked, she'd be out cold for a while. Assuming he didn't accidentally take her head off. |

It didn't take long before the person she met at the rendezvous point faded form her eyesight. She fell to the ground with a heavy thud and her sword was released from her grasp. As she lay on the ground passed out, the picture of the three eerie hooded men she saw were inside her head. She felt hands grip her neck and a paralyzing pain rose from her fet to her head. this dragged on for an eternity until she opened her eyes to Corvan who was looking down at her. She frowned at him and gave him a look of death. She tried to sit up but she couldn't. She was to nauseous and her body was sore after she tumbled to the ground. 'You are one of them,' she told him in a very cold tone. 'The men cloaked with shadows.' She felt that something was amiss but she couldn't point out what. Instinct definitely didn't help her when she looked for a flaw in this Corvan but she also couldn't find the connection of the three cloaked figures to him. 'What if there was no connection?,' she doubted to herself. 'What if he is telling the truth? What if he really is my contact?' She swallowed her pride and mustered up all her energy to allow herself to sit up. She looked at the boy with purple eyes with gold veins as she did this she let her left pointer finger point to the direction where the three cloaked men stood. |

Andumi frowned slightly and his eyes contracted as he heard the girl's semi-conscious words. How did she...that's impossible...no one here knows of what my true powers really are...but still...she was too close for comfort. If she does discover my origins, I'll have no choice but to either turn her into a servant, or kill her. Too bad really, but for the best. Senriyu'd kill me if she found out I'd replaced her this easily... Andumi thought to himself. Then he saw what she was pointing at. Three cloaked figures, much like him, stood some distance away, observing them. "Ah. That explains a lot. So, it was just a lucky guess. Very well then. I guess I can't fault you for thinking I was with them. Now, however, they've gone and annoyed me; either they should just come over here and try to kill us like good little henchmen, or they should just go already. You should rest, Cleis; I'll deal with this momentarily." He said to her, half-distracted by the gears in his head whirling. He took a strip of cloth from his cloak and cut it off and soaked it with some water from his canteen, placing it on the girl's head. "Don't apply too much pressure now; I'll get you to a healer as soon as possible," he murmured to her. Turning from her, he stood up and strode towards the amorphous figures and called out to them in a friendly, no-nonsense sort of voice. The kind he used when he was mocking a soon-to-be-corpse."Scuse me, gents, but you seemed to have upset the lady here, and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind dying nicely for me, now would you?" Indeed, Andumi was so personable in his request that one of them actually started to nod, then was nudged by his compatriots into drawing wicked-looking curved blades from their robes. Andumi drew his own and cracked his neck with a satisfyingly loud report, serving to unnerve the figures somewhat. "So...any bets on how long you'll last? Don't die on me too quickly, now!" With this battle banter, Andumi whirled his blades as ancient forms of swordplay returned to his mind, from his lessons trapped within the stasis field of his birth. |

He gave her a piece of wet cloth to ease her pain a bit. She had placed it on her head and followed his instructions not to apply too much pressure. As Corban fought the men and beckoned them to their deaths, she had her back turned from him. 'He is different,' she said aloud to the sky. Corvan wouldn't be able to hear her since he was some distance away, playing amongst the blades of the grotesque men. 'I think he can help me with my task.' She knew that she missed the place that she called home; or at least what she thought of was home. She remembered the time spent Sanctuary of The Cephirian Elves. If they were here, they would have done the same thing Corvan did. She remembered how she stood in front of their leader, Lady Elinor before she sent her on her way into the uknown world of Avalon without a clue who she even was. The only things which were given to her was the hair ornament made by her elvin teacher of the magic arts, the staff which was somehow magically turned into a longsword and an odd name for a girl, Cleis Aetherus. She was told that one day, when the Fates show her their favour, her gifts of being an Oracle would be bestowed upon her. Until then, she was just another girl who is lost in a big empty world. Somehow, she was pulled away from the remnants of her life which passed by her own eyes and then she felt an urge to look at what Corvan was doing. She quickly turned her head to his direction. She saw his precision in the way he ordered the blades. It was as if the blades of his enemies respected him, not even going a mile near him. However, his blades weren't as kind to their opposition. Instead, they slashed and whirled around the bodies of the three misearable beings who were now nearly a pile of flesh and bones. They all looked as if they've had life sapped out of them but Corvan was still continuing. Full of strength and energy, mocking each and every one of them who were at the mercy of his blades. Cleis watched the battle which lasted for an Eternity. They started just about midday and now the sun was already setting. Corvan was also losing his strength but now he knew it was time to deliver the final blow. The men were on their knees in front him, completely accepting their defeat. He raised the sword above his head, prepared to end their misery then in one quick motion of the blade everything was finished. The wind changed and so did heavens. It started to grow dark and then Cleis' began to pass out again. The last few things she saw was the dead bodies of the men and Corvan who was running towards her direction. 'Swords and shields are only elements of war,' she said silently as a blurred face came into her view. 'It's a bad heart that kills.' Afterwards everything around her became obnibulated until all around her became engorged in pitch black. Edited by Cleis, May 28 2009, 05:52 PM.

((OOC note: I am aware that you probably don't mean to, but you're godmodding me a little. I don't mind all that much, but do try to keep it to a minimum, okies?)) Andumi had a nice healthy sheen of scentless perspiration on his skin after that delightful warm-up exercise. He was actually disappointed in himself for even letting them live as long as they did, though, but he did respect their skill, childish as it was. Trotting back to Cleis's recovering form, he noticed that she had passed out again. This was getting to be annoying. For a moment, he considered just killing her and taking on the assignment by himself, but then thought that his employer would most likely be rather peeved at him for that, and so refrained from inserting his assassin's blade into the girl's temple. But his blank expression, along with it's void of emotion, returned swirftly, and Andumi, for lack of anything better to do and a growing hatred of this particular road, decided to pick up the comatose girl, and holding her, gear and all, much like an infant, began to run. The burden of the extra weight was nothing for him; it was just the indignity of being someone's pack mule, conscious or not. He supposed that he'd have to find a more plentiful area that could sustain the healing herbs he would require for primitive medicine, as he had no idea if there was a healer's hermitage nearby. In either event, he had to go somewhere. And so he marched with the girl in his arms through the night, only stopping when he finally found an oasis and a small hermitage, whose sole occupant had the supplies necessary to tend to Cleis. |

((Hehehee… sorry…. I had a friend to help me put the things I want to say in english, didn’t realize I godmodded you …. Sorry ><… it won’t happen again I promise…. English is just yeah, complicated….)) In her dreams, Cleis saw a field of stars under her feet. Although it wasn’t the stars which were bothering her, it was what she saw happening in that field. There was a group of children and each one from a different race. They were playing but after a short while each one of them started to fight the other until the group broke up. “What does this mean?” she said aloud. Then as if by magic she woke up gasping for air. She looked around but it seemed she couldn’t see anything. Everything was dark around her. She sat up and tried to touch her arms and face, it was there but she can’t see anything… “Am I blind already?” she tried to wave her hand in front of her face many times but she saw nothing. She only felt the fanning effect created by it. With a surge of panic, she knew there was only one way to fix it – Childish Panicking, Ranting and Raving. “What the hell is wrong with me?” she screamed rather frustrated and annoyed. “What’s with the eyes, woman?” She slapped herself thinking it could just be a dream but after awhile of slapping, running around in aimless circles, panicking, ranting and raving, she sat down in a tired state, waiting if by any chance an answer might come to her explaining why she has gone blind. |

((OOC: Is English not your first language? Never mind, no harm, no foul. I merely wanted to draw your attention to it, is all. Others may not be so mellow as I about that sort of thing.)) Andumi awoke from his early morning meditation to the sound of Cleis panicking in the hermit's hut. The hermit himself was currently off gathering more herbs, but had given him strict instructions to prevent the girl from thrashing around too much. Andumi sighed and stretched slowly and languorously out of his lotus position and took deep breaths, bringing himself to full alertness and restful energy. The area around the hermit's hut was a literal oasis in the odd semi-desert tundra that fed the spaces between the forests and the mountains of the North. A large spring, bubbling with clear water in a deep pool approximately twenty feet in length, and many times that in depth, fed a dense, yet small, stand of fruit-bearing trees and medicinal herbs. The spring's pool fed into a small brook that served to create an almost moat-like appearance about the oasis, enhancing its feeling of seclusion. A green turf, soft and spongy, yet not entirely mosslike, covered the surface of the ground within the oasis, and the hermit's hut itself was a tidy, stone-built affair, with a shingled roof and simple, but well-crafted, chimney. As Andumi entered, a hint of panic entered him as he saw Cleis' raving. He couldn't help but feel more than a little guilty at her current predicament, seeing as it was his blow that had rendered her unfit for combat this early into the mission. He attempted to justify it by thinking that it was merely in self-defense, but he knew that was a blatant lie. He moved quickly, then, taking a firm but gentle hold of Cleis' shoulders and attempted to lay her back down onto the small bed on which she had been situated the previous night. "Shh..calm down, Cleis. It's just me. The hermit told me that I must keep you from exerting yourself this soon. I'm afraid I gave you quite a nasty bump on the head, there. I really do apologize for that. Now, listen, okay? There's no need to panic. You're not actually blind. Here, I'll show you. The hermit said that it would be safe for you to open your eyes about now anyway, assuming you regained consciousness and showed signs of activity." Andumi murmured to her as he gently removed the blindfold covering Cleis' eyes. Smiling, an odd thing for him, he continued speaking in a gentle, caring tone. Of course, it was all a facade, but that didn't mean it wasn't genuine. "There, see? Heh heh. Get it? See, see? Ah, no matter. Just a small joke. But nevermind that. You seem to have recovered from that kick I gave you quite well. When the hermit returns, he will be the final judge of whether or not you are ready to proceed. But if you can remember, I'd like to know something. What, exactly, are the specifics of our mission here? I was informed upon my hiring that I was merely to rendezvous with my contact, someone who would answer by the name of Cleis. I was further informed that I would be receiving the full details of our assignment from you. So, tell me, then. What, exactly, are we here to do?" Andumi fidgeted with the bedcovers as he asked this, his attention in multiple places at once. It wasn't like him to take jobs like this, though he did need to gain some sort of notoriety and reputation among his colleagues, if one could call them that. Edited by Andumi, Jun 6 2009, 03:20 AM.

"Pardon my childishness," she said to him who was fidgeting with the bedcovers. "I am Cleis, I guess you probably know that. Anyway, as for the assignment that has been given we are required to look for the Child of one of the neighbouring Kingdoms. We also need to look for another contact to provide any further instructions." She stared into the wall of the hermit's hut. She couldn't tell whether it was day or night but she knew they had to get a move on. 'It's now or never....' she thought quietly. "Let's get a move on and let's leave this place quickly.... I'll tell you why on the way later... Come on!" |

Andumi was a little shocked at Cleis's sudden businesslike manner. It was a little attractive, to be sure, but that was only because it reminded him of Senriyu. Rising from the bed quickly and uncertainly, he looked at Cleis with the full range of his vision. He could 'see' the flows of magic, much like one would see a spiderweb, in this world, and as Cleis was practically reeking of magical latent energy, he could do a fairly accurate diagnostic of her health. "All right, Cleis. You're in charge, here, so I suppose I've got no choice in the matter. As much as I'd like to wait at least for the hermit to return, I do suppose we've got a job to do. Very well; let's go." Andumi said, letting Cleis take the leader's reins. Of course, this might've been a bit literal, too, as he knelt down and offered his back to her. "Believe it or not, I can run much faster on foot than you might be able to even on a horse. I suggest you let me carry you for the duration of this mission. I assure you, you will be no burden to me." Andumi, too, was being businesslike. Already he could calculate the breaking point of his newfound commander, and he knew, even if she didn't, exactly how long it would be before she ran out of energy. Fortunately, Andumi, being made of much stronger stuff, wasn't so easy to bring down. |

"Believe it or not, I can run much faster on foot than you might be able to even on a horse. I suggest you let me carry you for the duration of this mission. I assure you, you will be no burden to me." Corvan was offering his back to her but she dismissed the thought. She aquated down to his level and pinched his cheek playfully. "You know, I don't like being carried around," she said in a tone of a 7 year old child. "It's better if I walk. I can feel the direction of the wind." She knew it was a lame excuse. Corvan was a handsome young man but there was something about him that Cleis was suspicious about. After what seemed like an eternity, she pulled him up to his feet and pushed him outside into the sun. "Come now, I'm not feeling lethargic," she told him in a grown up voice which failed miserably. "So you should be hyper or something because you weren't injured..." She trusted him to be as ruthless as possible when she became to soft for this mission. As she walked with the wind on her heels, she told Corvan the details of the mission. "To be honest," she told him. "I might grow soft in this mission so I need you to be as ruthless as possible. Our job is to kill a child who is said to hold the powers of the whole Cosmos. The people who hired us said the powers are quite apocalyptic and we must bring an end to it. The child's location is unknown for now but we can ask fellow merchants and travellers along the way. So you ready?" She hoped he was because she wasn't sure if she was. |

Andumi sighed and rubbed his temples at Cleis' request. The fact that she was acting so immaturely, not to mention letting her pride get in the way, could be a hindrance to the mission's success. But no matter. He took up a guarding position just behind Cleis as they continued down the road, allowing his greater height to be of use in scanning the horizon. Of course, if there were any sort of magical attack or barrier they might encounter, Andumi would be the first to notice. "Kill a child containing the power of the whole Cosmos, eh? Alright. Sounds fairly straightforward. But it will take time to find them if you don't know. And if their powers are so apocalyptic, as you say they are, then would I be right in assuming time is not something we have to waste?" Andumi inquired of Cleis. Already this was getting to smell like a complete wild goose chase. However...The power of the Cosmos. Interesting. If it's in a child, they will have no defenses of their own. All that's required really is to kill the defenders, and then simply execute the child. No problem. But still...to let all that power go to waste...If I could just find a medium to store all of that power, I'm sure I could find a way to harness it in no time!... Andumi thought silently to himself, letting the lack of conversation go unabated. Already the sun was beginning its long ascent. And unfortunately, there wasn't a wagon train in sight. Andumi looked around, scanning the horizon for any trace of anyone. "Damn. It looks like the roads are deserted. I seriously hope you know exactly who we're looking for; I don't want this turning into a months-long ordeal here. Even I've got things to do, you know." Andumi remarked to Cleis, a little irritated at the lack of immediate progress. |

Andumi remarked to Cleis, a little irritated at the lack of immediate progress. She felt his irritation. It burned her skin. 'Impatience can lead to one's downfall...' she thought silently hoping he wasn't a mid-reader. Though as she thought this she stopped and looked at the heavens. It calmed her down and soothed her. She had no powers yet but she knew something about heavenly signs. The sky was ablaze with the sun's warm yellow glow. She couldn't predict yet, there were no stars. When nightfall came she looked up at the heavens again to ease the burning impatience of her companion. There were two stars rising to meet the crescent moon which was fading into sight. "Seems like they are in favor of our travel," she talked to herself aloud looking up at the horizon. "I just hope that they won't burn out quickly or hide behind the shadows of the moon..." She felt that Corvan wasn't an ordianary being. Nor was he human. She felt her instinct tugging at the back of her mind to find out who he is and what he really is after. "Why did you take this job?," she said as she turned his way. "You are no human that I can be sure of but who are you really? Must you be so enigmatic at all times?" She felt that he was hiding something. She just hoped it wasn't of an evil nature. |
