I need help making things and rp's something a little more interesting. I know to do things that are unexpected but most of those things are the usual unexpected things and thus they are not unexpected anymore. And it's clear I like that things are as unexpected as possible, especially in guild missions. How do I make my rp's and posts more interesting aside from doing that which is unexpected?

Nevermind, I'll just bury my head under the soil and wait for inspiration. -starts digging-

Maybe you could do something expected...except give it your own twist? Throw something out there for the other person to react to and then work with their reaction. ^^

You could also put all your character's thoughts...You know, mention everything that your character is thinking about the other person at the time. That could be interesting...seeing how long the other person goes before s/he forgets that their character can't read your character's thoughts (unless they have the spell xD). :shifty:

I think I figured it out. I must have contracted a virus. A virus that keeps killing the muse of the people I roleplay with.

What I do when I want to kindle my muse: I read fantasy-related wikis, like Oblivion and Wowwiki, and that usually kick-starts it.

Interesting stories, huh?

You're asking a very hard question, which many people often try to avoid altogether by saying it's all got something to do with innate creativity, so there's no way to "develop" such an ability. I call bollocks on those people, and state that most of the best writers in history were well educated, and this might be a large part of the source for their ideas.

My main advice to anybody who wants to be more creative and think about more things is to read everything. Most people think that reading fantasy all the time will make them write awesome fantasy. Maybe it'll give you practice, but it won't give you original ideas. You'll keep to the same tropes of the fantasy kingdoms threatened by great evils, or something to that effect.

Read everything - but especially history and philosophy. A lot of what I do is based on an adaptation of what happened in history, or an alternative view of history, or a philosophical idea which I had been reading about and pondering. The greater the sheer amount of ideas that you have in your head to draw upon, the more likely you'll be able to think of new and interesting twists and turns.

Hope it helps.

Albino Mouse
A rare albino mouse. Though if there are so many given out as prizes this year, one must wonder why they're dubbed 'rare'.
