Zria studied her surroundings. The peak of Mount Avalonius stabbed into the sky to her right. She smiled softly. She walked up to the top of one of the rolling hills, the wind catching her hair now that she was higher up. She plopped down on the grass, looking up into the blue sky. Clouds floated by, catching her attention. There, an eagle-shaped one, with another that appeared to be a face to the left. She studied the face, grinning as she spotted the eyes, the curve of the nose, the lilting smile.

Her smile faded fast as the color of the sky changed to black. She couldn't see, couldn't see a thing around her. Her stomach lurched. What had just happened? She stood, peering around, struggling to see in the dark pitch that had engulfed her. Her eyes widened as she became paranoid. Sounds began to fill her head, little cracks, like someone stepping on twigs. The sounds came from one direction, then the opposite way. Zria turned at each creak, each whisper, her body torquing in all directions as she she searched in vain through the darkness aroudn her.

She hated being Human, hated being so weak. She wanted to be something that could handle itself in situations like this. A creature who wouldn't be afraid to be surrounded by darkness. A small tear trickled down her cheek. She swiped it away angrily, not allowing herself to cry. She began to walk down the hill, slipping on the grass and sliding the rest of the way down. Surprised, she suddenly started laughing. It had scared the heck out of her, but the fact that she couldn't see a dang thing in front of her suddenly seemed funny.

The dark, the night, the moon. Location didn't matter, time didn't make a difference for as long as the moon held high. All that was important, was the hunt. The beast was hungry, starving even. Too long had it been since the last hunt, his last meal. And because the human version of the monster, ha, in 'love', he couldn't even eat what was readily available. And so like, nomads of old, Fenrir had left, traveled the world over to find hunting ground. He could not control the beast within, could not curb his hunger. And so he would let sacrifice strangers, innocent or not, to keep his partner safe. The wolf thought it was silly, but Fenrir didn't listen to the wolf's voice anymore.

Now however, he was the wolf, and the wolf was he. So the beast prowled these hills, seeking a meal. Eyes glimmering in the dark, as the full moon escaped the cover of clouds, the wolf stalked. In passing another hill, its ears would perk at a scent on the air. Human, child, dinner. As laughter rang out, the wolf grinned a flash of fangs. Crouching low, it lurked in the cover of darkness, stalking its prey now resting at the bottom of a hill.

Zria suddenly had the worst feeling, like something terrible was going to happen. She looked around her, her brown eyes vying for sight in the pitch around her. She tried to throw off the feeling, to trick herself into feeling safe, but she just couldn't. She stood, looking around her. The eerie sensation would not dissipate, making Zria squirm.

She considered her options. She could sit there, waiting for whatever it was to get her, or she could attempt an escape. Maybe, just maybe, the sun would return to the hills. She'd heard about the midday blackouts, but she also knew they didn't last forever. She sighed, still thinking about what to do. She turned, hopefully away from whatever it was, though she couldn't be sure, and started to run. If it caught up to her, she would fight tooth and nail to get away. She wasn't going down easy, not this time.

Her always-bare feet pounded the grass as she ran full speed, praying she wouldn't hit something. She could feel the hills, the shifts in the ground beneath her. Sometimes she'd run over a dip, sometimes she'd run all the way up a hill and all the way back down. It actually amazed her that she hadn't fallen. Yet.

His prey was moving. Ah, well, that was just fine. It was wonderful even. This would prove a hunt after all. If he had been in his right mind, capable of rational thought, he might even have laughed. His hunt reminded him vaguely of a story he'd heard once. Of how children should not wander the woods alone, the wolves might get you.

Instead of laughing at the thought however, the wolf merely growled. Dropping to all fours, the werewolf followed scent and sound of the girl. His steps were silent as he stalked, and he awaited her to either notice him or fall. Either way, the hunt was on.

Zria continued to run until she couldn’t take another step. Pathetic Human body I have. she thought angrily. I’d give anything to not be of this stupid race! She dropped to her knees, her body shaking. She looked around herself. Apparently, night had truly come before the sky had cleared because, while it was still dark, she could see the moon and stars, and everything around her. Including a wolf. A WOLF?! Crap, she knew she was being hunted, but not by something that big. Her eyes widened in terror as she once again wished she weren’t Human, that she were something that wouldn’t have to be afraid of something like this.

Silently the beast stalked until at last, his prey tired from its flight, would collapse within the hills. Halting, the wolf lifted its head back, giving a piercing howl to the moon. It was a battle cry, a warning that the end had come. And some small, barely conscious human part of the beast, was amused by the cliche. Looking back to the girl, his eyes would flicker in the moon light, and he pounced.

The wolf pounced on her, eliciting a shriek from her. Instinctively, she rolled onto her back, tucking her knees to her chest so her feet could kick out. Damn little good it did her, for the wolf was a good deal larger than her. She found herself becoming angry, at the wolf, at her parents, at herself. She began to see red as she fought back against the wolf, struggling to shove it off.

"GET OFF ME!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. "Get off me, damn you! I refuse to be your next meal!" She kicked harder, and the pressure of the wolf's weight lifted a bit. She scrambled out from underneath it and started to run again, her second wind kicking in. She glanced over her shoulder to see if the wolf was after her.

A game of cat and mouse, that's all it was. Or wolf and ... well never mind. Claws would lightly scrape across her belly as she struggled to escape. Though he could all too easily tear her guts out, he did not wish the hunt to be over so soon. He let her run, crawling back a step to allow her freedom to flee. For a brief moment he waited, before sprinting forward on the hunt again.

Zria's mind whirled around as she ran. She wanted to hide, run, scream, and cry all at the same time. Confused and frightened, she kept running until she tripped over something. Looking back, she noticed a stick. It was relatively large, but not so much that it would be impossible to weild. She lifted it, holding it like a club.

The wolf was chasing after her, and she waited until it was within range before taking a futile swing in attempt to save herself.

The entire hunt was ... exhilarating. Then again it always was. But he was hungry, and now the wolf decided it was time to end this hunt. He could always being another with new prey at another time. For now however, he'd not eaten in so long, he wanted to make a quick meal out of this girl. He came up on the girl as she picked up a stick, brandishing it. The wolf however was not to be deterred so easily.

He was mad with hunger and no little twig would stop him. Fenrir pounced, crunching the stick between his jaws. Landing heavily on the girl he went for her throat. Something stopped him from making the kill however, even as his fore claws dug into her flesh. But whatever caused this hesitation vanished and he drove his muzzle down to take a bite out of her shoulder.

))Alright, if you want go ahead and get someone in here to save you. xD Unless you can think of something that will spook the werewolf away. Otherwise he's going to finish the job. x:((

She was pounced upon and pinned to the ground. The wolf bit into her shoulder, and she screamed, loud and high-pitched, in pain. Her vision went red, and she began to fight viciously, the desire to live stamping down on any fear. The arm that was bitten reached up and latched onto the beast's ear, her nails digging into the flesh surrounding it. With a strength completely new to her, she yanked as hard as she could.

This ripped the animal's teeth from her skin, but by doing so also shredded the entire area of her shoulder. Her legs flailed beneath the animal, and she managed to lift one knee high enough to kick it into the wolf's stomach. She felt almost no give, but when she repeated the motion she hit something soft. She squirmed beneath the animal, away from its teeth, until she was fully beneath it.

Her head was spinning, and she was losing focus as she stared at the animal's underbelly. Seeing that it was male, a flicker of hope ignited, and she prayed that this would work much like for a human. She raised her leg, and kicked out hard, right into the soft tissue of the wolf. A howl resounded in the air, and while she thought that it was her attacker, she heard multiple others. Gawd dammit. There's more of them? But this one seemed to be a loner. Maybe it would be scared off by the pack. But then again, she didn't want to have to deal with more than one of these.

((bit weak i know, but I was a bit low on time when i was writing this))

As the taste of blood filled his jaws and the scent of it spilled on the air, he lost his last bit of self control. He was the monster now, and he had caught his prey. As he tore a chunk of flesh from the small girls shoulder, he gulped it down with relish. As he leaned forward to take another bite however, his fangs stopped short as she gave him a well placed kick. It did not have the exact effect as she wished, however it did distract him.

A series of howls filled the air. Growling beneath his breath he leaned back form her, his weight still pinning the girl to the grass. He sniffed the air to determine the source of the howls. Dogs, a lot of them. ... Hunters. Having encountered their silvered bolts and blades before, the werewolf decided he'd had enough to eat for now. With one last look at the girl, he leaped away from her, bounding off into the dark.

Zria's breath became forced, her pulse thready and weak. She struggled to open her eyes, to lift her body, to move to a safer location. Her eyelids seemed heavy, and in her struggle to keep them open, her head turned, and she saw the mess the wolf had made to her left shoulder. The last thought that crossed her weary mind was, This is it. I'm not escaping this time. Death has finally caught me. Her eyes closed, her head lolled lifelessly, and her heart struggled desperately to beat as she slipped out of consciousness.
