Zanya cradled the infant lovingly, remembering her own daughter. A shiver ran down her spine as she remembered her own child's death, and she held Rayden a little closer, a little more possessively. She leaned down at the bank of the river and began to wash Rayden, careful to keep water out of his nose and mouth. While she worked, she said to Cami, "Actually, if you would get yourself cleaned up, that would be great. That way, I can hand him to you when he's clean, and wash myself." When she thought she'd gotten all the mess off of him, she very gently dipped him into the river, leaving his head and shoulders out of the water. She let the current rinse him off, then lifted him out and dried him on the one square foot of her dress that she could find that wasn't bloodstained. She held him out to Cami, waiting for her lover to take their new ward. "Get to know him while I get this off of me." |

After Cami washed up she stood by the running water waiting for Zanya to finish washing Rayden. When she finished Zanya held out Rayden for her to hold so Cami took the small infant and held him close so that he could see her face and get to know her. "Where are we going after you finish washing up Zanya?" As Cami waited for a response Cami started to rock the infant back and forth to sooth him so he wouldn't cry. Cami was kind of glad that she didn't deliver Rayden like Zanya had to. Just sitting next to Kura and having Kura grasp onto her hand made Cami sad and she definitively felt the young female elf's pain. |
