Mag kicked and cried as the large burly man threw her over his shoulder after grabbing her out of the cart. Just a few days ago she had been living her peaceful and sheltered life on the Isles of Women and now she was here on the shoulder of a stranger without a clue on how to get away. The man had a few other women tied up around a tree, other women they had taken in the raid. She trembled, her dark curls falling over her thin shoulders as more tears rolled from her bright blue eyes. her white dress had been tattered and dirtied from the trip, her pale skin bruised and scratched from her attempted escape only to be tackled moments latter. She cried through the cloth in her mouth, "Mother...mother...mother please." The man threw her to the ground laughing at her defenseless cries like a little helpless child. Her bewildered and fearful expression capturing her pretty face as her chest heaved with each shaking breath. The other women knew what there fates were but Mag was lost and confused, she just wanted to go home to her mother, to her father, her little brother. Getting to his knee the gruff man put a hand on her thin chin and growled, "A little girl have we here? What an innocent little flower, she will be worth much more then the other little...whores. I call her first, need to break them in before selling them off." Taking hold of her arm he lifted her off the ground dragging her away from the others. She kicked and screamed trying to get away. She had no idea what he meant, all she knew was that she was fearful for her life. The other women seemed to react in the same manor, crying out through gags to let her go, screaming that she was just an innocent woman and not to harm her. They knew what was to befall poor young Mag, the towns innocent little angel who hadn't the heart to kill a fly nor talk back against and elder...or anyone at that. Pushing her to the ground he laid on top of her making her struggle beneath him as eh moved to unzip his pants. In one burst of bold courage she moved her knee up with surprising speed and knocked him where it hurt. He rolled over groaning in pain as she leaps up pulling the gag from her mouth and bolting fro the second time. A younger man ran from the wagon dropping and apple to the ground and leaping upon her as he growled, " A feisty one here eh boys. She is guaranteed to be fun." He smelt her hair as she cried out and bit down on his arm. Slapping her across the face he yelled angrily, "Whore...how dare you." She ignored his words and cried out desperate for help, looking to her only friends for assistance, "Help me please...mother...father...please...I beg.." A hand covered over her mouth as an arm wrapped around her waste and she was lifted off the ground and carried to the other women. "Shut up, you'll get us caught my love." The young gentleman laughed. She kicked again struggling for freedom but she had no strength that could match his. |

Akire had heard of the raid in passing a small village not too far off. The villagers had spoken of a group of men leading carriages and carts full of woman off to some unknown destination. Akire knew all too well what the fate of those women would be. The thing that had bothered him most was the fact that there was an entire village of men, young and old, who had not even bothered to raise their voices in protest against the injustice of what these ghastly men were doing. It bothered Akire so much that it wound spurring him into action. Now, Akire sat, wearing little more than a dark cotton tunic and soft-leather pants as well as soft, leather soled boots, his sword in hand and a grim expression on his face as he watched and waited in the shadows. He had been waiting for an oppertune moment for the carriages and carts to stop and the men to finally examine their wares. It had seemed like a lifetime before they had stopped moving, and that fact only set Akire even more on edge. He fingered the hilt of his sword as he eyed the group carefully. Akire was only too thankful for his cat-like graces and reflexes being birthed from the fact that he was, indeed, part animal. He chewed absently at a stalk of grain in his mouth, watching the movements of the men guarding the women. Obviously they weren't overly concerned with the females escaping, for they weren't too closely guarded. They were all being discarded as useless beings, good for little more than being bought and sold... or outright taken from their homes. Fortunate for them, Akire was there to set their priorities straight and give them a new outlook on the women they had kidnapped from their homes. Shifting slightly, Akire was finally about to begin making his move when a commotion broke out in the gathering. He watched patiently as a young girl was hauled away from the group and held to the ground by a disgusting brute that seemed to be taking pleasure in the poor thing's pleas. Akire snarled and gripped the hilt of his sword tighter. That brute would die first. He was shocked into complete immobilization as the mouse of a creature kneed the brute in the groin and took off at a run. Well, at least the little mouse would offer some sort of distraction as he freed the other women. Akire crouched down low, sticking to the sparse bracken littering the ground as he slowly crept closer to the camp, around the cart full of women, while their guard was distracted by the commotion. He had taken a few steps away from the cart. Akire snuck around the open end of the cart, facing away from the brutes and popped up enough so that the women would be able to see him. He held a finger to his lips, signaling them to silence as he dragged his impractical sword along the length of the ropes to free the women one by one. He hoped that the brave little mouse of a girl could keep the men distracted long enough for Akire to finish this deed. He breathed a sigh of relief when the last woman was cut free without incident and then backed away from the cart of women, giving a silent prayer that they would know enough to keep their mouths shut for a moment while he saved the young girl. Akire crept around the side of the cart, peering around the corner of it to look at the brute who was supposed to be keeping an eye on the women. He needed to keep the few men in attendance seperated in order to stand a chance against their numbers. They were stupid. He was smart. But it didn't outweigh the fact that he was only one while they were a handful. Calmly, Akire picked up a decent sized rock and held it ready in his hand. He cupped a hand to his mouth and made a "Psst!" sound around the corner of the wagon to get the attention of the brute. The brute grunted and made his way around the corner of the cart. As soon as he was able to bring the brute down without attracting too much attention, Akire lunged at the man's lower legs, making him hit the ground hard. As swiftly as he could, Akire brought the rock down on the man's temple, effectively causing the man to black out. One down, five to go. Edited by Akire Hunter, May 20 2009, 01:12 PM.

Mag continued to cry as she was throw to the ground again, struggling this time to untie her hands. The man kicked her in the side making her cry out in pain and curl up in fear. She didn't know how to fight, she wouldn't even try. Looking down at her he was about to say something when one of the men perked up and asked, "Where is Donta?" Their eyes fell upon the wagon where he had been standing but he was not there. Mag looked up through tears as she crawled closer to a pile of rocks. The young man turned swiftly stepping on her dress ripping it even more which caused her to blush lightly. "It's not appropriate for a man to hurt a woman, just as it is rude to rip her dress." She murmured in a sweet innocent tone, a strange and beautiful accent playing off her lips. "Hush you, keep quiet, stay here." He pointed at the ground knowing very well that she would listen. Only a few days and he already knew that she would not disobey an order. Her eyes wandered about before falling upon the image of a man, heart racing she watched as the other bandit moved over to his friends. Once they spotted Donta laying on the ground they jumped back drawing swords. Those of the women from villages in where they learned to defend themselves jumped into action leaping from the cart and grasping anything that could be taken as a weapon. The others jumped down and started to run off into the safety of the forest. At least three of the women had taken up arms and handled them rather nicely as they fought the bandits. Mag rolled to her side and sat up as she watched with fear in her eyes and curled up against the large stones, "I just want to go home." She cried to herself as she covered her face. The youngest man seeing the attack and being mostly useless with a weapon grabbed a bag of gold from a fallen partner and then wandered over to their only remaining captive. He grabbed Mag by the shoulder and ordered angrily, "Get up...get up damn you...I said get up or I'll kill you where you lay you sack of worthless flesh." Mag felt another burst of courage as she gazed up at him and spoke with truth, "If I am so worthless then why is my flesh worth so much to you?" He was caught off guard by her sudden act of maturity and let her go. She turned away from him and listened to the women yelling behind him. She didn't know what to do in this sort of situation, these past few days had been so stressful, all those unable to fight had ran and she was still tied up here about to be separated by this single person. Gazing back up at he captor she let her eyes flutter wildly as she fell back upon the ground and fainted. The man could not believe it, at first he thought she was playing with him but then he had realized it really just happened. Letting out a little laughter he replied, "Ha, some fine price you would fetch me. If I sell you to any brothel you would probably faint at the sight of a man. Your so utterly useless, what sort of parents did you have, didn't your father give you a backbone when he squirted you out into your mothers belly. You would have been better off slain at birth." Pulling out a dagger in a rage he moved forward to strike her giggling hysterically, "You deserve it...you deserve it...you deserve it Maggie...you never even looked at me. You never noticed me, you were my friend once but to hell with you, you bastard child." Edited by Mag, May 20 2009, 01:40 PM.

Akire was taken aback at the sight of the women being spurred into action. His mouth hung agape a moment before he closed it with a 'click' of his teeth colliding. Turning back into the action of things, he engaged one of the bandits who was heading for the women, who were doing quite a nice job of defending themselves. He had to admire their passion and their fight for their lives as they desperately beat back the thugs. He deflected a jarring blow from the brute who had come at him full-force, wanting to roll his eyes at the idiocy of the maggot as he swung his sword up over his head and brought it down at Akire, leaving himself wide open for attack. Akire's shoulders ached from the weight and momentum of the sword for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure and balance, watching as the thug's momentum carried him further farther than he had anticipated. Akire brought the hilt of his sword swiftly down on the back of the man's head, rendering him useless for the time being. Two down. He spun again to see that the women had already dispatched of one of the slavers, who was stuck face down in the mud, his arms hanging limply at his side. He cringed. The man had likely already drown in the mud. Oh well. So be it. Three down. The three women were engaging another man, and a second was coming at them from behind, Akire threw himself at the man, hitting him in the torso with his shoulder and coming down on the man in a heaping mess. The Slaver struggled and threw a punch Akire's way, which connected with his jaw. He winced at the pain that seered through his skull, but grappled with the man a moment, his sword being lost on the way down. In a tangle of arms and legs, Akire managed to roll his body weight on top of the other man and pin him down with a knee in the chest. Grunting in satisfaction, Akire brought his fist down hard in the man's face. He went limp beneath him and Akire had to struggle a moment to regain his balance. Four down. He turned to the women again who were nearly done with the fifth man when he realized that the sixth wasn't anywhere in the midst of the combat. Furrowing his brows, Akire jumped up, working his jaw and grimicing past the pain as he scouped up his sword and spun about looking for the last slaver. His heart lept to his throat as he saw the man going for the little mouse of a girl, who had inevitably, fainted. Cursing under his breath, Akire, raised his voice and gave a cry, hoping against hopes to distract the man and make him hesitate even a moment. Without bothering to see whether his call worked or not, Akire spurred himself forward, knowing that it was the only hope in hell he had of saving her. At the last second, Akire saw the slaver look up, giving him the moment of hesitation he needed to save the mouse's life. He hit the slaver with the force of his body and let out a loud grunt from the impact. What was with him and throwing himself against men to save the lives of women today? What was with ghastly men and their horrid attempts at killing young girls? He wanted to wring the bastard's neck for trying to kill the girl. He was furious. It was clear that the lad he found himself entangled with was still young, for he had a panicked look on his face, as if he hadn't expected Akire's attention to center in on him. The boy had had a weapon, had he not? And luck be damned, Akire's own weapon had ended up well out of his reach in the process of everything. Not that it would have done much good, it had been far too large to have been any help in this close combat matter. The young man seemed to be fumbling for something, trying to grab hold of something and Akire found himself being rolled under the weight of the young man. He winced as something cut into his back and realized that he was actually laying atop the weapon the lad had held. He steadied his features so as not to give away the location of the weapon and in a last ditch attempt, rolled one, landing the lad beneath him again, he head butted him, ignoring the jarring pain in his head as their skulls connected. The lad was momentarily dazed, and Akire took the oppertunity to grasp the dagger in his hand, and with little ceremony, and even less thought, he drove the dagger up in between two of the lad's ribs. The lad sputtered beneath him, his eyes widening in shock, but Akire held no remorse for him. "Rot in the underworld with the other bloke." He growled as he stood up and away from the lad, pulling the dagger out of the fresh wound with him and throwing it a good distance away from the lad, leaving him to suffer as he bled out in front of him. Akire quickly made his way to the girl and checked her for any bodily harm. So help him if she had been hurt terribly, he would resurect the lad and kill him all over again and see to it that his missery never ended for what he had almost done to the little mouse. |

Mag had remained still until she felt a hand touch her lightly, jolting awake she saw a man with short blond hair looking down at her. Eyes filled with fear as she coward and begged in a timid voice, "Please sir, do not harm me, I have done no one any wrong. I do not fully deserve any form of punishment." One of the women looked over to the young woman and shook her head lightly as she wandered over she spoke to the girl to calm her down, "It's alright dear, he is the man that saved us. Ruby was it...your safe now, just calm yourself down." Mag furrowed her brow when the woman said Ruby, she had never met her before but she supposed everyone knew her mother back home therefore they must all know her as well. Looking back to the man she let her chest shake lightly as she fell into his chest, arms still bound. Tears rolled down her eyes as she whimpered to him, "Thank you sir." Turning her attention to the young mans body she closed her eyes for a moment and whispered to herself, "I forgive you. It's not your fault, you were desperate, you must have never have known love as a child." Her body tensed up as she shivered lightly curling her legs in closer to her body, "I'm so far from home...I don't know what to do." Big blue eyes looked up to her 'hero' as the woman beside her spoke, "We could bring you ba...." Her worlds were cut off when Mag asked almost fascinated by the stranger gentleman, "What's your name sir?" She hadn't known many men in her life, only her father and brother and a few men who would on occasion come through town. She knew about six little boys but they did not count. When someone of the opposite gender views you more as their mother and is not old enough to take a wife then they are considered children. Her eyes rested on his face with fascination and questioning. It reminded her of a time when an elderly woman of her village had commented her saying, 'Young Maggie, its a wonder you even know where babies come from, you've never even seen a man in your life.' That was very true, she had never seen gentlemen like him at home, she had no idea what love was...or anything above that but strangely she knew how a child was made. It was like apart of the puzzle was missing and she was just not too interested in finding it. A small sweet smile crossed her face as she continued to watch him with fascination. The woman standing beside them rolled her eyes and spoke out, "Oh come off it girl, don't go all soft around the first lad you meet, boys are bad anyways Ruby, now we got some girls over here who are hurt. It would be nice if you could help, you know how to mend wounds I hear." Mag ignored her for a moment more until she heard boys are bad, not according to her mother. This woman’s words bothered her a little and she would have argued her mind if she was the sort willing to talk back. Her mother had always wanted her to one day leave the Isle and make her own way, perhaps this was a start, like an unexpected push out of the nest. Looking up at the woman with such bright eyes she replied, "I...I don't think I will be going back with you, I think...I was meant to leave the Isle's. Mother would have wanted me to...make my own way. So long as it is a safe journey." Edited by Mag, May 20 2009, 09:47 PM.

Something inside Akire shuddered at the poor, frightened girl's words as she began to come to. He bit back the urge to get up and beat the living hell out of the corpses of the men that littered the ground, or revive those who he had knocked out cold so that he could go a few rounds with them. The men had done the unthinkable to these women, and it grated his nerves. He was, however, saved from having to work past the lump in his throat to speak up and let the girl know that he was not there to hurt her when another woman came up and gave the reply for him. Instead, he found him standing there dumbly, not sure what to say to the little mouse who had captured his fascination. She had been so bold and brazen, and if not for her attempt at standing up to her captors, Akire doubted that he would have had the chance to take the handful of men down so swiftly and effectively. When she practically threw herself at him, Akire could do little more than hold his arms out in amazement as she nestled herself close to his chest, a look of complete and utter shock crossing his expression as she did so. Slowly, as if trying afraid to break her, his arms came down gently on her, comforting her for a moment. He could hear her mumbling against his chest and suddenly he remembered the body of the young man who had tried to kill her and winced. It was likely a sight that was undoing the mouse in his arms. He would do his best to be rid of the body as quickly as possible so as not to disturb her so greatly again. Quietly, he listened to the two women exchange words, choosing not to interject. The elder woman didn't seem overly greatful to him for what he had done for their desperate gathering, but he chose not to comment on it. The women had all been through enough as it was. he was about to release and step away from the young woman when she suddenly picked up and addressed him. "What is your name, Sir?" Such a simple question, and yet Akire found himself working his mouth as if looking for an answer. He finally worked past the numb and dry feeling in his mouth and found his voice. "Akirekan. Akire if it suits you better." He said. He watched the various expressions that crossed her face, curious as to what the girl was thinking. He cleared his throat as the other woman spoke up again. "Oh come off it girl, don't go all soft around the first lad you meet, boys are bad anyways Ruby, now we got some girls over here who are hurt. It would be nice if you could help, you know how to mend wounds I hear." Oh hell, what did the woman know? He had just risked his life to save the band of women who had been, otherwise, helpless and it goaded him to no end to know that his efforts were completely unappreciated. Akire slowly backed away from the woman so that he was prevented from arguing his case with the woman. That was the last thing he needed. He quickly backed away beginning to set to work on tying the slavers who were merely unconcious up. he wanted them bound and gagged so that they wouldn't be able to touch the women in the area while they regrouped themselves. Akire would see to it personally that they were dealt with and didn't bother the women in any way while they attended each other and calmed themselves enough to go whatever ways they planned on going. He was tying a double sailor's knot in the bindings of one man when he heard his mouse speak up again and inform the other woman that she would not be going back with them. A smile graced his lips. It was utterly endearing how, at one second, the woman could seem meek, quiet and completely innocent, while at the next moment, she would simply speak her mind and prove just how brazen and daring she was. He stood up from his task and headed back to the women again, wanting to help the frightened woman plead her case. "With all due respect, and despite the fact that it likely isn't my place, I'd like to point out the fact that she was quite magnificant in holding off her captors despite the fact that this was a terrifying situation." He stated simply. He knew he would likely recieve the rough end of the other woman's tongue, but it didn't bother him in the least. Being yelled at and beratted for doing something reckless was something that Akire was all too familiar with. He made a clicking sound with his tongue as he thought back on the woman's previous words. "I'd also like to point out the fact that not all men are misserable pigs as you seem to think." He gestured behind him to the men he had just worked to bind together. "Those ones were, and it's almost frightening how they flock together in herds for protection from the outside world, but there's a select few of my gender out there who aren't completely despicable." He said, offering a half-grin. He looked down at the little mouse. "She's a big girl. I'm more than sure she can handle her own and do as she pleases." He shrugged, still not quite sure what was compelling him to help the girl plead her case. Perhaps it was the fact that she was so innocent. The poor thing looked as if she hadn't seen much of what the outside world had to offer. While he, of all people, could attest to the horrid details of the world around him, he could also state a hundred reasons why the outside world wasn't half as bad as some people made it out to be. |

Mag looked up at him with a childish expression filled with wonder almost as if she looked up to him yet at the same time in those innocent blue eyes you could see a woman hiding behind her childhood. The other woman seemed to be alright with it, all but one, the eldest of the women. "I promised her mother I would keep an eye out over her, I can not...I will not leave this place until I know she is safe. I also know there are good men in this world, but I know plenty of men who would also jump at the chance to take advantage of a pretty young innocent girl." Mag clenched her fists and shot the woman a short but bold glare and puffed out her chest. "Who said I am completely innocent? I have done bad things before...like...like...I have...well I am sure I have done something wrong. I do recall my mother yelling at me before." Taking Akire's hand like a little child reaching for a grow up she smiled, "Akire can chaperon me to the nearest village. You wouldn't mind would you. That way I am not left unprotected, I'll be delivered safely to civilization and then start from there." She nodded her head in confidence. In no way was Mag a coward, if anything she had a secret huntress hiding deep within her, she was bold and brave, it just so happened so was more shy and timid. "After the town then what? Everyone will take advantage of you, you've never dealt with people outside your village. Not everyone is as kind and peaceful as your people my dear. How do you expect to live among normal people?" Mag furrowed her brow and replied with respect simply just stating the fact, "Helena is it? Listen if you know my mother then you should know my father...my real father. I am no fragile rose, mother told me of my real father...do you think any child of his is as helpless as a newborn babe? I will be able to hold my own thank you very much madam." Her heart raced at an unbearable pace as she realized she was still holding Akire's hand. Blushing a little she let him go and folded her hands in front of her avoiding his gaze a little. "Sorry sir, I didn't realize I was still holding on, old habits I suppose, hard to shake." She spoke with a bashful tone slightly shrinking in the other Helena's shadow as she woman shook her head and gave up. You can't argue with a girl who stated the fact even if you didn't want the facts. "Alrigth then...what a strange party you two make...an innocent rose and a what I assume rouge." Helena spoke rolling her eyes as Mag shifted uneasily on her feet. "Well we will be off now...Ruby if you change your mind...try to make it home alive. Good luck to you." Turning away she ushered the other women off moving with the small group. Those who could fight kept weapons in hand to defend their little party from bandits, not that they had much on them anyways. Mag turned to Akire before lifting up a small corner of her skirt and skipping a little ways away to a large tree that starched high into the sky above. She looked up the massive giant and smiled lightly. Looking back at Akire she spoke quietly, "Sorry, I hope my tagging along will not be a burden. When we reach a village we can part ways and you need never see me again. I just...I had to get away, I feel my life was not meant to wither away in that village as the innocent rose. I think I was destine for...more...adventure. I mean my father...besides I would never have had a family in a town filled with women. It was time I moved on...came out into the world. My mother has been hiding me for to long...afraid but I'm not afraid." She spoke with her sweet accent dripping like golden honey in the morning sun. Her haunting blue eyes met his for a moment as the small shafts of light caught her porcelain skin. She looked over to the tied up slavers and shook her head lightly. "If only there mothers would have loved them."Putting a hand on the large tree trunk she turned away letting her dark brown curls fall over her shoulders. Moving forward again she sang softly and quietly, her voice was lovely if you could hear it. As soft warm rhythm ran out as she sang, " Are you going to Scarborough Fair, Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme, Remember me to one who lives there, He was once a true love of mine." |

Akire wanted to roll his eyes at the elder woman's protest, but he remained silent and polite, knowing that he had already thrown in his justifiable amount of opinion. It was up to the little mouse to plead her case now. He was on the verge of scowling over the fact that he knew that the woman was right, his little mouse would be taken advantage of, and for a reason beyond his fathomable common sense, that thought burned angrily in the back of his mind. He was a little shocked when the younger of the women came up to him and grasped his hand, claiming that he would escort her to the nearest town. He sputtered a moment, torn between dismay and the burning need in his gut to keep the woman safe. Had it been any other woman in the camp, he would have done the same for them, but this woman in particular seemed the most innocent and pure of all. He wanted to groan at the irony. He had just saved the mouse from the clutches of the perverse men tied up behind them, and now she wanted to be with him while he escorted her to a town. Akire was unsure as to what else he could say, other than, "Aye, I'll escort her to the nearest town, if it's what she wants." His head turned towards Mag as she continued pleading her case, and claimed that her father's blood gave her a backbone. He winced a little. Wonderful. Would her father want to flay him alive for being left alone with his daughter? That was something that he definitely did not want or need. It was strange looking at the woman. She looked to be of a reasonable age, yet at the same time, Akire couldn't get past the angelic beauty and sweet innocence she exuded. It left his head spinning. Akire was still young, and he knew it, but he was more than old enough to know that the world around him worked in strange, and sometimes horrid ways. The woman at his side didn't seem to take it into account at all. Perhaps she was that naive. He shook himself mentally when the girl let go of his hand. He hadn't realized that she had still been holding on to it. He took a moment to stare at his hand and then shook his head again, as if to clear his thoughts. He cleared his throat and nodded. "Nothing to worry about." He murmured quietly as she made her appologies. He headed back to their prisoners, beginning to make work of dragging the men, one by one, into the cart. He wasn't overly gentle with them, not minding if he whacked one of their heads off a wooden plank, wagon wheel or even the ground. It was all part of what they deserved for mistreating these women so horridly. He was in the process of dragging the first man up to the cart when the elder woman spoke up and gave in to the mouse. He was shocked that she had given up so easily, and wound up dropping his burden in the dust at his feet. The fact that the woman had called him a rogue of all things left him irritated. Akire, the next time you bloody well decide to save a group of women, make sure they're all timid mice and wont bother to berrat you for saving them. He thought irritably as he stood, with a fist planted on his hip, unsure whether he should yell and rant for her inconsideration, or just leave it be. In the end, he decided to let it drop and went back to dragging the limp body of the bafoon back to the cart. He watched, out of the corner of his eye, as the women departed from the area, and actually breathed a sigh of relief when they were gone. Akire might have had a sense of justice and known that the women having been captured was wrong, but he had no qualms with a group of restless, stubborn women taking off on their own. They could fend for themselves now. Akire dropped his charge into the cart and then went to pick up the second when the mouse spoke up again. He stopped in his tracks and looked over his shoulder at her before turning around completely to listen to what she had to say. He shook his head and shrugged a broad shoulder. "Shouldn't be too big of an ordeal, really." He offered her a tenative smile. "Who knows? It might even be nice to have a bit of company over the thought of these bafoons in the cart." He said, his smile broadening. Akire turned back to the work of loading the remaining men who were still alive in the cart and then turned back towards the woman, listening as her lilting voice rang out clear through the area. He paused a moment, leaning against the side of the cart as he watched her. She was beautiful. There was no doubt in his mind about that at all, and he had no doubt at all that the poor thing would be taken advantage of at some point or another. The thought burned in his conscience, but he tried to ignore the notion. There was little he could do about it right now. "Alright, then." He said, turning to survey the area. There was one, sturdy horse that the men had used to pull the cart. Akire went and unhooked the horse from the cart. He paused to consider the options before turning back to the girl. "Well. We can either take the horse and ride it, mind you, we have no tack for the horse, or we can let the beast be on its way and walk to town." He said, asking her opinion and input. |

Mag gazed over at the bay beast Akire had unhooked, she pranced over to the pretty creature and put her hand under its nose with a smile. It pushed its velvety snout into her hands licking her palm lightly and inspiring a rather amused giggle from her. Calmly with gentle hands she stroked its forehead looking into deep brown eyes. Her gentility and innocents was the sort that lured unicorns in, the idea virgin maiden used for the hunts. The women who had white beast rest in their laps with a serene sense of calm. Mag spoke giving the horse a small kiss on the side so its face, "You were the only one I dared talk to thank you for keeping me company." She rested her face against the geldings and closed her eyes lightly listening to him take in air through large nostrils. Patting it one more time she looked back to Akire and spoke thinking of the horse rather then herself, "I can walk, back home we walk everywhere. I think he deserves his freedom...just like I deserve mine. We are not all that different, held under the hands of cruel masters that we never asked for when both our hearts are free and wild." She spoke with such a passion on the topic of freedom. Her heart burned so fiercely for the dream that one day everyone would be free and happy in this world. Putting a finger to her chin she turned away for a moment holding a thought in her head before continuing, "Oh pardon my manors, I never did introduce myself. I am Magdalene...but most just call me Mag...or Maggie, whichever you prefer." Looking at her ripped up dress she blushed a little noting that it was nothing more then her under dress, it was very unladylike to be running around without proper dress, even more so since even the improper dress was ripped up and dirty. She put her hands over her partly exposed chest and giggled, "Oh look at the state I am in...oh dear, I will...well I know they took more then just women. You wouldn't mind facing over there in that direction so I can...put on better attire would you?" She pointed over to a few tall tress and bushes. Stepping a little further back she looked at the men all tied up and gave them a stern look as if she did not appreciate them staring at her either. Grabbing a dirty brown blanket that had been used to cover the women she draped it over there heads and smiled a little before moving over to another wagon that had been loaded with clothing, jewels, and personal belongings of the people of her village. She rummaged around for a moment before picking up a tan colored dress with a white cloth belt. A small smile crossed her face as she vanished behind the wagon for shelter and pecked around to make sure no one could see her. Quickly she slipped the dress over her head and pulled it down. It was a little to long for her but it would do nicely. Tightening her belt she glanced back at Akire and fixing her hair as best she could without use of mirrors. She asked with a sweet curiosity, "So what do you do? I can't imagine you spend every day running around rescuing damsels in distress. That would be a little silly, well not that saving people is silly, I just can't imagine anyone doing something like that. It would be rather tiring. I’m sorry if I seem to talk a lot and if I ask a lot of questions sometimes. I can be quiet if you want me to, as quiet as a mouse...quieter even. At home I walk around early in the morning not even so much as making a floor board creak." She went silent for a moment before stepping out from behind her hiding place and picking up her skirt for a moment so she would avoid stepping on the nice fabric. She was a little uncomfortable with the low cut in the dress but it would have to do for the time being. It was a good healthy reminder to her that she was a woman, not a little girl. "This is all I could find, I think it is to...what's the word I am looking for. Well I am not certain but when I think of it I shall tell you." |

Akire watched as the woman made her peace with the horse and then Akire nodded, untacking the rest of the gear that had been left on the horse. He gave the gelding a reassuring pat and then took a good look at his surroundings. East. He would send the beast east. He turned the creature and pointed its nose in the direction that he desired it to bolt for and then smiled at Mag for a moment before slapping the beast on the rump and eliciting a strong cry to get the beast moving. "YAH!" The horse broke free of the clearing at a canter, quickly disappearing out of their sight. Akire couldn't help but smile, knowing that the horse was gaining its freedom, just as the women had. As she gave her name, he nodded slowly. He had already grown accustomed to calling her 'Little Mouse' within the confines of his own mind. He would have to do his best to remember her actual name and not slip up in the process of adressing her. He caught the look on her face when she took a moment to assess the damage that had been done to her clothing, and Akire was sure to quickly avert his eyes, not wanting to offend the delicate creature in front of him. As she searched for some solution to her problem, Akire couldn't help but have a little internal dialogue with himself. Hah. And if that fool of a brother of yours were here, he'd no doubt be oogling the poor thing, thinking nothing more than about what she would look like in his bed. Lucky for the poor woman I came along and not he. You'll not take advantage of this one, Lonan! He thought, with a bit of misplaced triumph. Akire wasn't sure why he felt so compelled to belittle his brother in his eyes, but it likely had something to do with the fact that Akire had once held him on such a high pedestle that he needed to knock his achievements down a few pegs to suit his tastes. Akire snapped his attention back to the woman when she spoke up again, a little confused, at first, as to what her request was. Shaking himself out of his dumbfounded state he nodded. "Turn around? Oh! Yes, of course." He said before folding his arms across his chest and turning his back to her, taking a few steps in another direction to give her the peace and privacy she desired. He dared himself a look over his shoulder when she seemed to hesitate and smiled at the sight of her throwing the blanket over the head of the slavers. She had backbone. He had to give her that much credit. She was also smart. And rediculously beautiful. Akire rolled his eyes. Damnit man, don't even think along that path. He silently berratted himself. He heard her call out to him while she changed, and it was a chore to remind himself not to cast a look over his shoulder. He winced at her words. Actually, that was almost exactly what he tried to do every day. He ignored her worry over whether or not she spoke too much. He would reassure her later. He cleared his throat before he launched into his explination. "Actually, for the most part, that is what I do. Mind you, I'm not always so lucky as to find a group of lovely women who required my help, and sometimes those who I wind up helping aren't as welcoming to the prospect of help, but either way, it is what I do." He paused as if considering whether or not he should continue with his explination, but then he picked up again when it remained silent behind him. "You see, a while back, my own village was raided by bandits. At the time, I was too young to be able to have done anything to prevent it at the time, but I did my best in the efforts to rebuild the lives of myself and the other orphaned children from the town." Akire was purposely leaving out the part about his brother and his accusations against him, but he didn't want to get into that with this strange woman right now. "The village is still struggling to be what it was some 12 years ago, knowing that the only people to develope it are those who have an incling of a memory as to what the town was when we left." Again, he left out any mention of his brother. "I decided, rather recently, that there were other people in the world suffering from the injustices of others, and figured that there were very few people that would help them in their time of need." He smirked. "It doesn't pay well, but it's more than enough for me. It makes me feel as if everything that had happened to us in the past came together to push me to do this." He explained. He knew that it sounded like a lame explanation, but it was the only one he could give. He was compelled to help those around him and guilt only served to consume him when he turned a blind eye to those who needed him. It was just a part of what made Akire himself. Akire heard the woman shuffling around behind him and then she spoke up. Slowly, cautiously, as if it would be his undoing, he turned around to face her. He had to avert his eyes a moment so that he didn't stare overly long at the little mouse in front of him, but he shook his head at her proclaimation that something was wrong with her attire. "You still look lovely. There's no need to fret." He said with a shrug of his shoulder. He furrowed his brows in thought a moment. "Is there anything that'll keep you warm in that supply back there? I fear we're going to be stuck out over night and it might be best if you have something warm to wear to tide you through the night." He said with the shrug of a shoulder. As for himself? He wasn't overly concerned. He'd survive. |

So he really did run around saving people, she had never met anyone that kind and noble before. As he complemented her a little she turned away bashfully. He talked about staying the night in the woods and how she would do best to find something to keep her warm. Tilting her head she tread back on her memory of what had been laying in the cart, she had come across a thick dark brown cloak that might to her well. Blue eyes looked up into his sapphire orbs as she nodded her head, "Yes, in fact I did see something in the cart. Hold on I'll only be a moment." With fine fair grace she pranced back to the cart searching through the piles of stolen goods. Grabbing the thick fabric she smiled pulling it free only to have a necklace fall upon the ground. Her eyes grew wide with surprise and excitement as she looked down at the necklace. Its thin silver chain glistening in the sunlight, the locket itself was almost elven in design. Many feathers were scratched into the silver necklace and laced with gold. It gleamed up at her with a brilliant shimmer sending her hand down to grasp it with joy. "My mothers necklace." She chirped happily. Jumping from the wagon Mag ran back to Akire and showed him the pretty piece. "It was my fathers once, he gave it to my mother before I was born...then he...just vanished. I never knew him but I hear he was a good man...no...not precisely a man either. He was...something else." She seemed to ramble on to herself with her sweet accent thinking over her mothers stories of him. Taking the silver chain she put it around her neck and fashioned it. Releasing the chain the necklace fell delicately around her neck still sparkling with a vibrant brilliance as if it were alive. Once the necklace was safely around her thin neck she threw the brown cloak onto her shoulders and fasined it with a silver pin. She had hoped at first that it would have covered the low cut in the dress but it did no such thing. Shaking her head just a little a smile moved across her face. "Well, no looking back now, no second thoughts, no return, its onward and up from here. I always thought I would be afraid but...I am not afraid. Even if I am stepping into the unknown or posible danger I have no fear nor regret." She became even more suprised when she spoke that out loud. Her words moving free and lightly through teh air before fading away with the touch of the breeze. Leaves above shook and trembled making that smooth rustling sound above. It was her nature to look up and see that nothing lurked in the dark green foliage that would have crule intentions against humans...even if she was not completly human herself. Eyes fell back down to Akire for guidence as she asked sweetly, "So which way brave and noble hero? Lead on white knight." He deserved the title more then he knew perhaps. Saving people for a living made him a good man indeed. |

Akire raked a hand through his hair as he watched her turn around and head back to the belongings that had been gathered. He couldn't, in good conscience, just bring the girl to a town and leave here there at the mercy of whoever happened to be about, and he knew it. She was too innocent and too secure with herself not to recognize the danger that others would pose around her, and the thought of the delicate mouse in front of him being hurt made his ire rise to an unbearable degree. He was considering what to do about her when her flighty voice picked up again, clearly pleased about something-or-other. He watched her as she danced back over to him, the faintest hint of a smile creased in his lips. She was a breath of fresh air, and far more enjoyable company than that of a pesimistic, gruff man. He tilted his head to the side and inspected the necklace as she held it out for him to see. His eyes narrowed on it. Admitably, it was fine work and a lovely piece. He was inspecting it and listening to her words when she spoke of her father being... not quite human. Akire blinked at her, a sudden shiver overtaking him and crawling along his spine. He watched as she put the delicate piece around her neck and clasped it together at the juncture. He looked at it a moment before she swung the cloak around her shoulders and pinned it together. He was wondering the intelligence in telling her the information he was about to, but he knew that he needed to. If something happened between there and the town and he had the need to shift unexpectedly, she would need to know. He highly doubted that the shift would come to him though, as it had seemed to be evading him for some reason the last little while. "Speaking of not... exactly being human. You should probably know that there is more to me than meets the eye." He said, cringing slightly at the indelicate way he handled his wording. He hoped that it wouldn't take the girl off guard completely, but there was nothing that could be done for it. The words had already escaped his mouth. "I'm actually a Lycanthrope. I have the ability to shift into the form of a snow-leopard as well as keep the form of a man." He rubbed the back of his neck absently. "Or at least I can most of the time." He said, trying to shrug the matter off, though it bothered him far more than he was letting on. He was handy with a sword, and prefered his human form to his animal, but still... what if? He watched her out of the corner of his eye as she rambled on about how she thought she would have been afraid. Hell, had he been in her shoes, he probably would have been utterly terrified. She had been taken from her home by a group of savage men. The Gods knew how far from home she already was, and he knew that she would likely be a long time finding peace with herself. He cast his eyes to the ground as he listened to her words and considered her bravery. She was a strong woman to be going through this entire ordeal and still have her head held high. He could easily come to respect that trait in a woman. Confusion crossed his face as she called him a 'Noble Hero'. He almost wanted to laugh in her face. He hadn't felt terribly noble. He had only been doing the right and civil thing, given the circumstances. White knight? Oh, bloody hell, if she only had a half an idea. He groaned inwardly. He decided not to comment on the fact that she had called him those things, and rather than run the risk of insulting her, he simply answered her question. "Well, Avalon City and Tintagel lie in the rough direction of east." He said, looking up at the sky. It was now mid afternoon by his guess, and the sun was already past it's pinacle and making its slow, but sure decent on the western horizon. He turned himself in the direction of east and nodded his head. "So that way." He said with a grin, pleased with himself for having the skills to navigate them back to the large city, and hopefully find somewhere that Mag could stay for a while. He knew it was going to be one heck of a walk, and hoped that the girl was right in saying that she was used to walking places. "We'll be about two days getting to the Capital if we rest tonight. We might take an extra day depending on how soon we stop." He said, looking up at the sun once more to try and judge how much time they had before nightfall. "We'll stop at dusk so that we have enough time to gather firewood for a fire and hunker down for the night." He said shrugging his shoulders. Water and food would be a bit of an issue. Akire had enough on him to last the evening, but didn't know if there would be more on the way. He looked back at her a moment. "Mag, I'm going to assume that even those morons knew the importance of food and carried some with them? Have you any idea where they kept their stock of food so that we might take some with us and ensure that we'll make it to the city with little incident?" Silently, Akire was calculating the supplies they'd be needing to get to the city. It wouldn't be much, but it would be enough to keep them comfortable and strong. |

Mag looked into his haunting blue eyes as he spoke telling her what he was. She had heard stories of his kind. Some were stories meant to frighten her and others were tales of great creatures with great powers and the hearts and innocents of animals. She knew the animals around the village well, some kind and friendly while others were dangerous. Giving him a small smile she took his hand and replied softly, "Well you are a good man...no matter what you are and besides I am sure you are just as kind hearted even if you are not always in the form of a man. Even a beast has emotion, even those who can not speak feel, we tend not to understand them is all." As he told to where they would go she gazed off into the east. If he had not told her that was the east she never would have known. She was horrible at directions, if you gave her landmarks she would do well, but if you gave her names of towns and east and west directions she would be horribly lost. When he asked her where food could be found she jumped slightly like a child eager to answer a question you had asked them. Taking his hand again she lead him to one of the wagons with light quick steps. "Here is where they kept their food, mostly bread and dried meat, anything fresh they killed themselves. It's all wrapped up in cheese cloth." She opened a chest on the wagon sitting behind the men and picked up one of these cheese clothes filled with what seemed like bread. Tossing it to him she gazed back down into the chest and raised an eyebrow. Her hand falling behind the wooden frame only to reappear holding a large bottle of what seemed to be red wine. Shaking her head lightly she giggled, "Well, this is fascinating, no surprise to me. Red wine, I'm a fan...just because I am some innocent little woman does not mean I can't enjoy a glass of wine. Even if I don't look it I am old enough to drink. I just age incredibly slow, where all my friends have grown up and had their own children I remain in the appearance of someone about 21 but I am older then that, not by much of course." Like any true woman however she did not reveal her age, she figured she would continue to look twenty one for a long time yet and no one needed to know she was truly twenty seven, especially since twenty seven was usually the age men saw you as to old to marry. Something about your greatest years to have children fell between twenty one twenty five. Setting the wine down she dug out some of the dried deer meat that was wrapped in more cloth and spoke again, "It's nothing special, rather salty but not to fear, I am a wonderful cook." Healer, cook, seamstress, and midwife. Yes Mag was raised not to be an adventurer but to be a housewife and it had been hoped that one day she would even be the matron of her village but no, she felt adventure was just what would lead her to the life she had dreamed of for herself. She grabbed a shachel that the young and now very dead man had carried. Dumping out his belongings she started to load the food into the bag trying her best to ignore his personal effects. A pipe mingles with a small silver dagger, a few playing cards and a flask laid out before her but she kept her mind off of it all. As she put the food into the bag her head tilted to one side a little and she let out a sigh. "You know...I'm not human either, well I am half, my mother is mortal. However I am the product of a mortal and an angel mating. Perhaps the reason my mother was so defensive of me. As a little girl she never let me leave her site. Something about angel hybrids being somewhat fragile as children...mostly our back...I don't know why. Maybe it has something to do with wings...but I haven’t gotten mine yet." |

Akire watched her as she explained that she really didn't think he was a bad person for being part animal. It made him raise a brow a little at her insistance. Did most people think that being half animal was bad? He shook his head, shrugging off the thought. It mattered very little to a man who prefered to stay in the form of a man, rather than an animal. However, he did add a little of his own input to her one-sided conversation. "Actually, animals are highly simplistic in thought. But not in a bad way. Animals don't have strange compelling motives to steal, lie or cheat at anything. They do what they do for survival." He shrugged. He smiled at her eagerness to be helpful. She really was a breath of fresh air for him. One that he direly needed after dealing with his brother only a short while ago. Lonan had tried his patience more than enough, and he was glad to be rid of him. He'd be a happy many if he never saw him again, and he intended to see to it that he didn't. Again, he watched as she pulled out the bottle of red wine and smiled at her chatter. Most would have found it annoying by that point, but Akire found it strangely comforting. It was nice to know and be reminded of the fact that he wasn't alone. Beyond that, it wasn't as if the little mouse's voice was grating in the least. It was very melodic and pleasing to the ears, for which Akire was greatful. Her words did pique his interest, however. Akire knew that he would age at a slower pace as well, though he and his brother were still relatively young by their kind's standards. He scratched at his chin absently, irritated by the small amount of growth on his chin, but decided to ignore it. He'd deal with it once they got to the Capital. "Our people are known to age rather slowly as well." He shrugged. "Though admitedly, I'm still fairly young by our standards, in the human world, I'm old enough to be off on my own and do as I please. I'll have seen my twenty-third year this winter." He said, glancing down at her again as she continued to pull items out of the chest. He smiled as she began packing the items away into the container that one of the slavers had been holding with him. Akire took a moment to look around the camp before taking sight of his own attire and frowning. He needed another tunic of some sort, but cringed at the thought of taking one of the slaver's articles of clothing. His was less stained and more doable than theirs were. He'd wait. Perhaps they could find a stream or something of the sort so that he could rinse his own tunic out and hang it to dry. He hoped that that was feasable. Again, his little mouse spoke up and began her chatter. He listened as she explained her heritage, and Akire had to say, he was taken aback. An angel? Oh boy... he was in deep. Akire cleared his throat, but it came out as more of a grunt. "An angel? Well then..." He said, considering it. He could easily see it in her. Her innocence was far too pure to belong to the natural greed and hunger of a traditional woman's. "I can only imagine what the wings of an angel would look like." He murmured as he turned back to her, determining that there was little else in the camp that the other women hadn't taken already that would have done them any good. He planted a hand on his hip, looking around one last time. "Well then, Mag? All set? We should head out now before it gets too late and those bafoons start making too much of a to do about being tied up and abandoned." He said, with a crooked grin. |

Magdalene pulled a dark curl away from her face and threw the pack over her shoulder. He was only twenty two, she was so much older then him...well not to much. Actually in all reality even to her kin she was young, she was still a child. In the human world she was to old to be married off but in the angelic world she would have to wait at least eighty more years before they would even consider her an adult. She always wondered if that was why she remained so...childish, then again she was not completely childish, she looked over the children of her village. It was like her part time job, a teacher you could call her, and a babysitter. She got along perfectly with children and she loved them so much. She could only hope one day she would get lucky and have her own little ones to chase about and love. Akire seemed a little surprised about her being part angel, she had the same reaction when her mother had first told her. "I wish I knew what they looked like as well. I wish I had a pare, then we could fly to the city in one day. Certainly would cut travel down but I can live without them. Better to be loved then to impress those you wished you could only love." She wished she could see what he looked like when he sifted but she would leave it alone. It was probably rude to ask and she didn't want to come off as rude. Especially since she was anything but rude, she was painfully polite. Running her fingers through her soft curls she looked up at Akire as he suggested they start to leave now. Jumping down from the wagon she lifted her skirt lightly holding it gently between delicate fingers as she walked up to Akire. She followed close behind him like a lamb following its shepherd to safety. Her bright eyes gazed about the forest taking in its ancient beauty. She rested a finger lightly under her soft rose colored lips and gasped, "My little brother would have loved this place. I wish he could see this with me. He's such a prince, I practically raised him. He had always been my best friend growing up, we use to talk about everything to each other. At least until I got to busy with work, you know more women come to the isle to have children then anywhere else. Mostly single women who's husbands have died in war or who were never married. I don't think a child should be born into the world without wedded parents. They need a guarantee both parents will be there fore them." She spoke out of experience. Her mother had come to the isles to escape her old home. In her mothers country getting pregnant outside of marriage was a crime, but becoming pregnant with a nemphilim was a death sentence. All her life Mag wished she could have at least seen her real father once but he vanished before her mother even knew she was pregnant. Mag was thankful for her life but if only, if only she knew he loved her it would have been better. Pushing the sad thoughts from her head she looked to the sky and continued, "I work with the children as well on the isles, sort of like a teacher. I am however known as the assistant to my mother, the best midwife in all of Avalon. Its no surprise that between seeing miracles everyday and working with children that I have always wanted my own. I suppose I just have not found the right person yet. I had thought years ago that by now I would have already had three, like mother says, 'Mag, your special and the world needs you. Don't sell yourself away to a single person when everyone could use your healing touch.' It is sweet of her to say...I suppose." Kicking a twig along the ground she looked down, her head always turning off into another direction as a bird took to the air or a squirrel scuttled across the ground. The sunlight made her brown curls sparkle and her eyes light up like stars. Continuing to walk she went off into her own little world and let her voice ring out into a pretty little song. "Did you ever think of me, As your best friend. Did I ever think of you, I'm not complaining. I never tried to feel. I never tried to feel. This vibration. I never tried to reach. I never tried to reach. Your eden." |
