Athrane swept a hand through his coarse dark hair, enjoying the warmth of his self-constructed fire that he was currently perched in front of. He was sitting on a thick log, legs crossed, and bare chested. He was in his human form, which was odd for this late hour. He was usually in his other form during the night, to keep any impending enemies at bay. Tonight, however, he felt safe, and away from danger. As simple as it would have been to simply walk into a tavern while in his human form, he couldn't, no matter what he did, shake the uneasiness that stayed with him whenever he was around other humans. He was a beast. That was his nature. That was what he'd grown up knowing of himself as. He didn't, and would never find peace among civilization.

He sighed, lowering himself to the ground while he let his head rest against the side of the log. He kept his hands out in front of him, absorbing as much warmth as he could. The night was indeed a cool one, though he knew that his other form would provide him with as much warmth as he needed.

Fur was, after all, quite the alternative to normal clothing...

Child of perdition, daughter of sin ~Ashiban
Ashiban wandered alone out in the wilderness, the lonely dark stretch of empty space fell out before her like a woven cloth. She walked slowly, a shadow in the night, untouched and unbothered but not ignored. Every living thing was aware of her just as she was aware of it. Heels hit the dirt and damp grass beneath her feet with silent steps, her dark dress making her silhouette vanished in the night backdrop, her pale skin like a phantom.

Purple eyes looked down to the ground as she moved along taking in the scent of the wilderness. A comforting scent that made her eyes fall in a peaceful manor but one that also kept her scenes on high alert. She looked up into the distance, more emptiness falling before her feet, a great expanse of darkness and no one but herself to mingle with. Yawning slightly she revealed her white teeth, two in particular nothing more then sharp pointed fangs within her daemon skull.

"How uninteresting this place is, there is nothing to do. Oh why must I live in this life of constant boredom. Nothing happens that can surprise me, nothing new, exciting. The same over and over, every event predictable. Immortality is not worth its price in gold."

She let out a light sigh letting her head fall again as she pulled her black cloak tighter over her shoulders. Leaving her mouth open she gasped slightly taking in the scent of smoke, her eyes flickered over to a shimmering flame in the distance as a twisted smile crossed her face. "Ah company, about time I find something interesting about in the nothingness we live in."

Her pace quickened as she moved towards the camp fire not knowing what she would do next. She never really planed ahead, everything just happened. She had no control over her temperament nor actions. She just went with an unseen cosmic flow that swept her away like a changing tide. A crimson wave over the bluest ocean, an unpredictable animal to say the least. One word to her was the difference between polite conversation and eating your liver.

Her pace quickened yet as she fell into a light run keeping a sharp eye on what she could only distinguish as a fellow. How much less interesting, she had her fill of fine and not so fine gentlemen. It wasted her time now, the time she had to much of. She would rather play with her blood lust then the physical parts of another. It was so empty for her, she derived no joy nor pleasure from it anymore. Taking in his scent her twisted smile changed to slight distaste. An old lover, she was not to keen on running into them. She had a motto, never run into the same man twice, they are less exciting and interesting the second time around.

Stopping some distance behind him she placed a hand lightly on her hip and raised an eyebrow speaking with her dark and calming tone, "Funny running into you here. I had thought I would never see you again, more like I had hoped. So what sort of mischief is the puppy causing these days...my old lover." The word lover seemed to roll off her tounge with resent and bitterness. Love was not her favorit word and lovers were not her favorite thing.

Athrane's hand never set itself on the handle of his sword. He'd picked up on Ashiban's scent long before she stopped walking and spoke to him. He may have looked like a human, but like her, his instincts were heightened by his true form. He could sense others by picking up their scent, or simply catching on to any noise made by them. He and Ashiban had taken part in a very lustful relationship long ago, before he dared show his human form to anybody. Now, it seemed that she knew who he was, simply by picking up on his own scent. He smiled to himself as she spoke, then stood up from where he was sitting to turn around and catch sight of her. She hadn't changed much since the last time he'd seen her. She was as eye-catching as ever, though what still attracted him the most were her eyes. The bright, purplish hue of her corneas drew him in, though he as he looked closer, he could tell that she had changed since the last time they'd met. There was something different about her; something that he couldn't quite put his finger on.

He shrugged it off - for now.

"Ashiban," he breathed, still a bit taken aback by seeing her. Out of everywhere else in the land, it was amusing to think that they'd see each other again in such a place as this. Outside, in the cool night air, miles away from any sort of civlization. He wondered why she was out here.

"What... what are you doing out here?"

"Running...I am running away from the world, staying far away from mortals, those chimps smell horrid and I don't enjoy their company as much as I once did. I prefer to be alone these days or with my own kin. We are the only ones who ever seem to click when it comes to polite conversation despite the short tempers we all have. We tend to fight more then we converse but I enjoy it thoroughly. Anything to bath in a little blood."

The dark temptress side of her had slightly been replaced by a rage filled beast biting at the bit to be free and rip everything in sight to pieces. That small fiery flicker in her eyes seemed to reflect the starlight sky and all its mysterious wonders. red lips parted delicately into a partly pleasant and yet threatening smile. The monster she had become, no the monster she had always been, she had just tried to hide it, tame it, well not any more.

Sitting down beside the flames she looked into the fire, there sparkling form dancing in her eyes. She took in their warmth wanting to let her body fall into there grasp to feel there sweet sting, that grasp of her home. Not because of fire, what she remembered of home was it being dark and devoid of any light including fire, it was just that same tingling pain. The sort you felt but never seemed to fully notice. 'If you stab me would I bleed, if you cut me in half would I die?' she asked herself glaring down at the flames.

Her ebony curls fluttered so lightly behind her in the gentle breeze as she continued to watch the flames. Turning her attention she looked over to Athrane and continued, "You know many lovers have come and gone since you, nothing made you any different. Hundreds of meaningless love, nights with a warm body but never feeling warmth myself. Pointless midnight excursions that made me feel...empty. All of them the same, all of them useless...but now, now to feel a heart stop in my hand, the blood over my lips, the screams in the air. I do believe I found a new passion. Disemboweling and massacring, oh god its a thrilling sport you should try it. Nothing gets your heart pumping."

She rambled on like a raving lunatic moving her finger through the dark ashes and sketching out swirls and interesting patters and designs. Sitting back she pulled her cloak back away from her shoulders and looked up to the sky with little interest or wonder. It was hard to find magic in a world as old as you were. When looking through the eyes of someone as old as life nothing was fascinating or magical. It was all just old news, a story still running even after decades.

Athrane remained silent for several moments, staring into his custom-built fire. The white-hot intensity of the flames leapt towards the dark night sky, but quickly vanished into thin air as they became nothing but particles of barren ash. It was nights like these, when he was sitting in front of a roaring fire such as this, that he really had the time to reflect on the happenings in his life. Not that there was much going on in it at the moment, but he still found it relaxing to simply sit back and relax, with nothing but the wilderness to keep him company.

Now, however, that had changed. Ashiban was with him, and for that, he was grateful. It was a bit unsettling, though, to know how much she had changed since the last time they'd met. That saddened him a bit, and for her to tell him that he was a 'meaningless love' was indeed hurtful. Still, he managed to keep a firm hold on his composition, not yet daring to make eye contact with her.

"Meaningless loves?" he repeated in a low, steady voice. "If I am so meaningless, Ashiban, then why are you still here?"

The fact that she had - as she put it - hundreds of meaningless loves also surprised him. He still avoided her eyes, tossing a couple of pebbles into the fire absent-mindedly. He remained silent, mulling over everything that she'd just said to him. He managed to hide the fact that he was upset, but knew that she'd probably pick up on his discomfort.

Ashiban smiled lightly, "Why am I still here...good question...I don't know the answer to that. I rather wished I was not here at all, anywhere in a matter of fact. I wish I never was, never will be, I was a cosmic mistake. At some point in existence something went horribly wrong with me. Why can't we all just go back to our originally shapelessness, before man gave DEATH a form, when I was nothing...when we were nothing."

She fell upon the ground with her arms behind her head. The red tattoo above her breasts stood out on pale flesh like a distasteful mark. Her mark to show the ownership of her master, his mark...her creator more then master, her master was a mortal. "Ah management has changed again, you know I am ever changing so why are you so surprised? What disturbs you so my old love...if love was ever something I understood. Now that I think about it I had only ever loved one." Rolling over to her side she looked at him with a smile, "And I do recall ripping him apart for no reason. Shame...love is just not for me."

Running her thin fingers through her dark locks she let her violet orbs wander freely taking in detail as they scanned the area. "Cataloging, it never ends. I observe, I learn, I take in and I never live...why can't I make it end. Why observe who would I tell this information too, all I have learned. What is the point of this...there isn't one is there." That was perhaps the most disturbing thing to her, having nothing, no family, no belongings, no friends, no purpose. She was created to be expendable and she was strangely comfortable with the fact that the world could easily depart with her, just let her slip silently beneath the tides.

It made her laugh, a good long laughter erupted deep down inside of her but came silent to the midnight air, cool and crisp. Not a sound escaped her best it was to stay hidden in the cavity of her mind. She stretched out lounging like a cat, needing the dirt ever so gently. Her eyes meet his with those slit pupils and unnatural hue. Those beautifully inhuman eyes that had once added to her sex appeal but now did nothing more then mirror the soul she didn't have. Every once lit with passion were empty and dark, not even a twinkle or flicker of emotion reside in those hollow pits.

“You are no mistake. You, like every other being in the world have a purpose.

You are not any of the things that you think you are, Ashy. When I look at you, I see a woman with so much potential, and I feel that you have yet to discover what your true purpose in life really is. You may feel like you do not have any reason for being here, but you do. We all do. Myself included, though even I don’t know what my own purpose is yet.”

He met her eyes, and for the first time that night, he could almost feel how upset she was with her life. How unsatisfied she was with everything. Looking into somebody’s eyes told one a lot about them, more than words ever could. Words could be so misleading. One could say anything they wanted, and not really mean it. A person’s eyes, however, were what defined them. That’s how he saw it, at least.

“Say what you’d like, Ashiban,” he continued, putting his arm behind his head as he leaned against the log. He continued to hold eye contact with her, and said, “Say that I am wrong. You may say anything you’d like, but just know that you are not worthless.”

With insentience, he reached out and touched her arm. It was the first time he’d ever touched her while in his human form. He brushed his fingers along the side of her arm before dropping his hand back down onto his lap. He proffered her with a smile, glad that they were here tonight despite the obvious change that he saw in her…

Ashiban was not to keen on affection at the moment, nor the sympathy of others. What did anyone know, if only they could see though her eyes. Watch the kingdoms rise and fall like she had. Crossing her arms delicately over her chest she looked over to him as he laid a hand calmly on her arm. She moved away from him rolling her shoulders in a feline like fashion, "I am not looking for comfort, darkness likes to dwell in darkness. No tender moments nor friendly hands to help me. I don't need help, do I look like some weak worthless sap?"

She growled with a snappy tone and made it clear that even if she was sitting here with him that she wanted her space. Ashiban had the body of a woman but she had the instincts of an animal, an angry hound at that. She was just as likely to bit as she was to lick. Pulling her feet closer to her body she scratched lightly at the dirt again. Black nails shimmered brightly in the firelight. Painted eyes looked back to Athrane and focused on his expression, "I am sorry about my rudeness but I try to distance myself. I can not get attached, it’s not safe."

She didn't mean safe for her, she meant for him. Chances of her ripping his throat out were high, they could have what they did once but it would not be true. She could only hold back her claws for her true love...no not even for true love if ever she had or even could experience it. Running a hand through the red flames she smiled as her pale skin crinkled and darkened with the stain of burns. Pulling it away she watched as new pale skin grew over the scaring healing the wounded flesh flawlessly, "You see, you can be killed, I on the other hand am untouchable."

That was not entirely true, she was sure something out there could kill her, she had just never discovered it yet. Sometimes she didn't believe anything could harm her, silver wounded her but it only made wounds heal at a normal speed, it did not destroy her. Many things could hurt her badly to the point she surrendered but never once had she died. Playing with a pebble on the ground her attention seemed to stray away from Athrane but she always kept one eye on him, watching him from the corner just keeping enough attention on him to know what he would do next.

Athrane remained silent as she spoke, having found a fairly long twig on the ground beside him, that he was now holding over the flames of the fire. He watched – with great interest – as her charred, blackened skin regained its structure, so that now, it looked like she hadn’t stuck her hand into the fire at all. It was impressive, to say the least, to see that she was regenerative in terms of physical injury. He’d forgotten just how powerful she really was. Many men – and women alike – underestimated her because of her usual humane appearance. Underneath that frail, yet beautiful woman lay a beast that remained dormant unless provoked. They were alike that way. Once agitated, blood was also sure to be spilt by his own hand.

“I understand,” he lied. He chose to leave it at that. He was never able to change her mind about anything; she was incorrigible that way. As important as it was for one to not give in to another so easily, there was certainly a limit that went along with that. There was being obstinate, but there was also refute; and right now, Ashiban was being the latter. He had all the patience in the world for her – for anybody at that – and he would do his best to change the way she thought about not only the world, but more importantly, herself.

“You do not look like a worthless sap. I merely want to be there for you, Ashiban. That is all.”

Ashiban felt sympathy radiating off of him again. It made her spine tingle with a form of dissatisfaction. She was a hard woman to please, she was unlike any other. never was Ashiban one to be loving nor caring, just an empty pit who falsified loved to play with men. Not anymore, she was pure and simple, a killer, a murderer, a monster.

She laid her hands flat on the ground and growled impatiently, "I’m bored, I am to old to wait around for excitement." A wicked smile crossed her face as she looked up to Athrane and giggled, "Stop me if you can." It had not been in playful intent but rather in a challenging tone. Soon after the words left her lips she sprang up into action taking off into the darkness with cruel intensions.

She could smell people on the wind, her heart raced as she moved closer to their...camp if you could even call it this. Her body shifted, bones cracking as she fell to the ground in pain and discomfort. Her spine elongated itself pulling against pale skin to the pint it ripped. White bone exposed itself as her stomach seemed to pull itself into her chest, ribs snapped as her rib cage widened and spikes grew out of her spine.

Her teeth grew longer as her clothing seemed to melt away leaving pale skin bare against the night sky. Her black curls took on a blue and purple hue as purple eyes faded into black holes. Flesh fell from her face leaving exposed bone that twisted into an elongated snout lined with rows of razor sharp teeth. Horns like that of a bulls grew in at the sides as another protruded from the front of her head. She was more monster then woman now, fur covering her body as bones shifted beneath thee skin.

"What's a matter Athrane...come on wolf lets play." A long tail extended from her spin as her feet and hands turned to clawed appendages and her form grew in size, great size only to complete her transformation into what was simply known as the beast. Small purple orbs radiated deep within the hollow holes of her ivory skull as she looked out to the camp and arched her long thin spine moving like a lioness on the hunt.

Athrane watched Ashiban as she changed forms. To anybody else, seeing her in her in this phase would have sickened them. He, however, was attracted to the power that radiated off of her. He was mesmerized by her new form as soon as the transformation was complete. Compared to her in his wolf form, he looked like a kitten. She was quite a fearful site, though he was all too used to this to shy away from her.

Instead, curious as to where she wanted to go, he too changed forms. Black bristly fur sprouted over his body, his mouth and nose formed into a large snout complete with rows of white, jagged teeth, he grew as tall as Ashiban, and after all was set and done, a thick, bushy tail sprouted out from his behind.

"Where are you going?" in a voice that in no way resembled his human form's one. It was much more deeper and ragged. He followed her as she made her way to the perimeter outside of the camp, making sure to keep low to the ground to avoid being spotted.

"What are we doing here?" he whispered, his bright yellow eyes now his most predominant feature.

Ashiban crept along the ground staying as low as her size would allow her, her deep hollow eyes flickered with a purple flame as her neon blue tongue hung out the side of her mouth with excitement. Her tail swung side to side snapping its small mouth as she moved along. It even took the time to notice Athrane and hiss at him so he would keep his distance from it. Her tail had a thing against people crowding it; the fear of being stepped on was far too great. Swaying side to side like a lioness's tail it became quiet as Ashiban fixed her sight on a group of people moving in the darkness.

Her tongue ran over ivory teeth as hot saliva dripped from her maw. Her pale skull shimmered in the low light of the stars above as legs shifted silently pushing her forward into a slow and steady gallop. Her hooves hit the ground with a thunderous power and yet remained silent as claws ripped at the dirt. Her spine shifted and rolled like the spine of a puma on the chase, ungilating like a slinky rolling down a flight of steps.

The soft tissue within her nostrils flared lightly ass he picked up the scent of humans, four or five of them, a family perhaps. As she captured their scent she speed up racing across the land like a cheetah across the safari. A low growl erupted from her chest as the wind flew through her long lion like mane. "Hunt Athrane...I'm going to hunt. The thrill the chase the glory the kill...hunt." her words seemed to float free in the air, not produced by vocal cords but my thought. Her voice was slightly metallic and held no gender to it, being both feminine and masculine.

Leaping forward she let out a loud growl that rolled across the night sky like thunder in the sky. She flew forward knocking a human mall off his feet and throwing him to the ground. Tucking the two rolled across the ground in a furry of fur, claws, and daggers.

Athrane didn't want to have any part in this massacre. He didn't kill people for fun; he killed them if he had to. Such was done about a band of raiders not one week ago. He was in no way a murder; when he harmed another, it was strictly for his own safety. Self-defense, as it was more commonly known. He'd use his sword when necessary, but most of the time, he resorted to using his hands and feet. Sometimes, he'd even use his claws and teeth. He was quite the force to be reckoned with, though he was not a murderer. He wasn't like Ashiban; he never felt the need to kill anybody just or the hell of it.

He hung back, lurking in the shadows, before he spotted a little girl standing in the midst of the tussle. She had long blonde hair and big blue eyes. She was clutching onto her mother, who was screaming for Ashiban to stop. His ex-lover was wrestling with who he realized was the father of the little girl, and the husband of the woman. They had three children; the girl, and two little boys. All three of them were huddled around their mother, watching the confliction between Ashiban and the male.

This was wrong. She was going to murder an innocent family. He couldn't - wouldn't - allow that to happen.

"Ashiban, STOP!" he roared in a clearly inhuman voice. The mother and her three children looked his way and screamed again, thinking that he was going to take care of them himself. Quite the contrary.

He didn't lay a finger on Ashiban; he did not want to harm her. He simply wanted for her to stop what she was doing. On all fours, he bounded towards her, shouting for her to stop what she was doing to the man. If she complied, he'd have nothing to worry about.

However, if she didn't, then he'd have to do something to save the man, who was putting up quite the fight to protect his own life. If need be, Athrane would put himself between Ashiban and the other, just so that he and the rest of his family could get away safely...

She heard his words and the children’s screams, it distracted her for a moment forcing her to look up to the children with hollow sockets filled with a shadow darker then night. Saliva ran hot down her jaw as she listened to the wife’s plea but her cries fell on an icy heart that didn't understand love and compassion. If Ashiban had loved would she have yield tot he attack of this man, perhaps. If Ashiban had children of her own would she had stopped from the look of fear in their eyes, most certainly. However Ashiban had nothing and therefore she felt no loss, she knew no loss, therefore she could kill without mercy or regret.

Turning back to the man her jaws clamped down on his arm lifting him off the ground like a kitten. She Shook him violently before tossing him over her shoulder and turning to the little children and licking her chops, muzzle and ivory skull covered with blood. The man was alive but his arm was badly broken and nearly severed from his body as he rolled onto his stomach and reached up with desperation and cried out, "No...no leave them alone, take me instead."

Ashiban turned her head to look at the man and snarled, "Nexus prefers the tender flesh of child meat. It's soft and easy to chew." Her large head swung back to the children as she jumped forward knocking the mother away from her innocent babies and trapped a child under her claws. The mother let out a horrified scream to see the monster pin the little girl, the two boys were cut off from there mothers finding themselves trapped behind Ashiban.

As one of them tried to run the beasts tail swung up and its mouth bit down onto his leg pulling him to the ground and then hitting him in the side breaking a rib. The mother screamed even more jumping up to save her children. Ashiban would not take her attack and swatted her away with a paw knocking her back like a cat toy. Her tail swung back and forth as hollow pits glared down at the little girl. behind her the youngest boy cried out with so much bravery, "Don't hurt my sister."

Turning her head she looked down at the dark haired boy at first with a destructive glare that slowly melted into a soft tender stair. If she had been in her human form she would have perhaps found the boy cute and would have been more motherly to him, but in her beast form she was not female and therefore had no motherly intentions towards the boy. After a moment her soft gaze faded again and she opened her maw and snarled at him. "You are not amusing boy, silence your next disgusting mortal child. Being the youngest you'll taste the sweetest."
