You'll be the death of me.

He could barely hear his steps along the wood of the dock. His senses were dulled by lack of sleep and generally sickness, and his energy drained from his time spent in Tor. There was not a scrap of copper in his pockets, and his clothes were nearly shreds. Yes it was obvious this pirate had seen hard times. All in all he looked quite tired and extremely waterlogged. In fact, he felt as if he'd never get the taste of salt water out of his mouth. Making his way slowly down the dock, his gait shuffled more than stepped. He really wanted a drink and a bed right about now. After a good rest, a pretty girl would do just nicely. Alas, he was stuck wandering the harbors like a bum. But far be it from him to beg for scraps. Maybe he should have accepted that offer to sail on another's ship. Caine decided however that he'd be useless even there. How the mighty fall, from Captain of Lady Vengeance's armada, to a strung out, drowned rat. Abruptly, his thoughts would shatter as an object collided heavily against his chest. In his state he could not give the usual shove off. Instead he fell backwards from the impact, skull cracking against the wooden planks. "Oi! Bloody watch where yer goin!" Pushing himself off the dirty floorboards, a hand rose to check the back of his head. Looking down on the offender, a flurry of muttered curses would resound. |

The Rain does fall....
|
<<mind if I join in?>> Raina walked steadily, pushing her cart along with all her strength. Mother had needed help financially so Raina had went to the harbor and the markets they hosted to see what she could do. A man hired her to pushed this cart from the ships to his shop. It was filled over the brim with goods and bundles, so much that she couldn't see over it. This work was wearing her out, she was already tired, this being the fifth time she'd pushed this here cart, and her nerves were wearing down as well. She had been complemented in the crudest ways by drunks, had her rear slapped a few times and she had already broke one man's hand for touching her. She was very agrivated and her thoughts were filled with swears and curses on every man she'd met. She stopped suddenly when she hit something, what sounded like a man from the voice that yelled afterwards. She gasped, and sat the cart down moving around it to see whom she had hit. Her eyes were wide with fear and worry, she had no idea as to what to expect for such a thing... goodness, I should have been more careful, I've done gone and hurt someone... and this man has done me no harm.... "Beg your pardon, sir... I... I didn't mean to run into you..." She couldn't think of what to say, she was truly sorry and prayed that maybe she would be forgiven... "I hope you aren't hurt.... you aren't, are you? |

The cursing would continue until finally, the pain in his head subsided. As it dulled to a steady throb, he was at least glad to find his skull had not shattered upon the dock. Though, the salted planks did nothing to improve his hygiene. "Erg... yeah."He grumbled irritably, before realizing his collision course had been courtesy of a woman. Looking back to her, he waved a hand dismissively. "Pardon my language miss. Ye just got me by surprise there. No harm done." His gaze would drift over her for a moment, but did not linger too long as to cause awkwardness. She was a right pretty lass, if a bit too young for him. But a pretty face always lifted his spirits. He'd always been that way. Unlike his kind however he was not so stereotypical as to always be chasing skirts. "Don't fret over it. Just a knock. This ol' sailor's been through far worse." |

Raina smiled, happy she was forgiven. "Of course, your language is nothing I have yet to hear around this place," she said giggling. "Yet.. are you sure you are alright? Surely it must hurt, and Mother always spoke of people falling and breaking things.... so are you sure you are okay?" She sighed, still worrying. How odd... throughout the day she had been rather infuriated with the male species for their behavior towards her, but now she was worrying over one? Well, obviously she could justify that to herself. He hasn't done me any harm, and i was the one who harmed him... He hasn't made a crude comment so that is good, and Mother would insist that I make sure he is alright before I went about my way, wouldn't she? Yes, yes, she would. Mother would fuss at me telling me I should have been watching where I was going and should be at home instead of helping her with things such as these. Yet then she would tell me to apologize--which I have-- and make sure he wasn't lying simply not to admit he had been hurt by a girl... |

"Ah... yes." His gaze would shift momentarily. Of course, he had not forgotten what kind of place this was. Which led to the question of why such a young girl was wandering around all on her lonesome anyways. Though, another look would direct his attentions to the cart and he understood. Having traveled the world over, he knew not all life was without effort. Lasses the world over did have their chores, whether living on their own or tending to ailing parents. The pirate then made as show of checking himself over. "Hmm.... well." He patted himself down from head to waist. A little fall and resulting bruise to pride and skull were minor in comparison. Losing an eye, evading the royal navy, cutlass to cutlass and saber to saber, wars of gods and magic. Yeah, he'd be fine, no real pirate would let himself be killed off by a girl with a cart, heh. "Yep! All there. In one relative piece." |

Raina smiled, absolutely thrilled. "I'm glad you are not hurt... Mother would be very upset if I had hurt someone..." Not only would Mother be very upset, but Mother would most likely make her come home as well. Goodness, things like this were trivial but Mothre made mountains out of mole hills... She turned to her cart and sighed, ugh, more pushing... Ah well, such things had to be done to help Mother. Raina curtseyed slightly with the grace of a noble and nodded a polite farewell as she walked back to the otherside of the cart, stood on her tiptoes a moment to make sure nothing was in the way and picked it up yet again, pushing once more although one could tell she was straining. How many times would she have to haul this cart? Mother would definately not be pleased because her hands were going to get rough and unladylike and then maybe, just maybe whomsoever she is to marry one day would not be happy with it either.... |

))Need to end some topics. So I'm going to finish this one. It was short, but still fun :)(( "No no. Wouldn't want to face a mother's wrath." He said with a laugh and a wink. Though the affect may be lost due to the whole missing eye thing. But just a spot of conversation with a pretty girl lifted his spirits. He was not quite ready to take on the world. But despite the bruise to his head and a little knock to the back of his skull, he felt less gloomy. At the very least he could make it out of this town. "Well lass. I'll not keep you from your errands any longer." With a step back, he would bow cordially before continuing on his way. "Keep safe, aye?" Allowing her the right of way and room to maneuver her cart, he strode off down the dock as before. Well maybe life wasn't so bad. After all, a pretty lass had just swept him off his feet. |
