Standing silent and still as a statue, Finbar closed his eyes, tilting his head slightly backwards. The sunlight was warm, and shone down brightly upon him, a light breeze whipped by him, carrying floral scents, intoxicating to the senses. Here with his eyes shut he could almost imagine that he was home, far from here, home on his farm, if he concentrated hard enough he could almost hear his childrens laughter ... could imagine Rosaline calling his name. But home was no more, and his family slain. The farm that had been passed down throughout the generations, had been burnt to the ground, his crops had been destroyed and the livestock slaughtered. Nothing would grow there again for a long time - there was too much blood in the earth, made worse by the sorrow that lingered there. He couldnt ... wouldnt ever go back there. Four years had passed and yet his memories of what his life had been were as clear as if he were remembering yesterday. Opening his azure eyes, he gazed around him, admiring the beauty and serenity of the place. One day perhaps he would start again, settle anew in a place like this, but that day was still so very far away. With each passing year the pain of his loss became more bearable but it would never fully heal. Yet Finbar still hoped that there would come a time when he could be free of his past. Hmm what to do now? Apart from his ferret Pip, he was alone. He currently had no asignment to fulfil, so now what? Whilst he decided he strolled through the field wondering which direction would take him on the road to another new adventure. Birdsongs filled his ears, it wasnt often that he was at liberty to be at a loss as what to do with himself. Finbar contemplated walking to the nearest village in search of work, but yet he felt compelled to stay. This place had an air of magic about it, as if it would provide for his needs if he were to stay but a little longer. What harm would it do, just relaxing a little longer. Setting his bag upon the floor, he pulled off his coat and necker, then removed his jumper. The sun's heat on his skin and the breeze on his face made him feel at peace. For once he felt free. |

A glimpse of the Soul
|
Sharlett sat to the ground with her head in her hands as the flash backs came back more intense, it was terribly confusing having the past relived as two people, rather then just one. ~ Flash ~ First it showed Sharlett, it showed her and another girl, just a baby, held in her arms, aboard a vessel, rough looking men jeering at them, laughing as the terrified child screamed a racket. “Shut it up!” One of them growled. “I an’t gona listen to another second of that racket.” The baby was torn from Sharlett’s arms. ~ Flash ~ It was a stranger, a stranger who once was host to Dance, they were stumbling through the forest, wounded, dying. “I don’t want to die” she whispered to Dance, and tears wet there cheeks. Even then they could not determine who’s tears they were, Dance’s, or her host, but Dance could feel the life slipping out of them ~ Flash ~ It was Sharlett, she was screaming, kicking, they were near shore and the baby was being thrown to the sea. She tore free of the pirates with a cry and dived from the boat, trying to reach for the baby, she was there, if she just reached a little further... the waves were to strong, she felt hr fingers grasp against the helpless baby and then the waves parted them, chucking them in opposite directions. “My sister!” Was Dance’s helpless cry ~ Flash ~ Dance and her host were huddled against a try, the gapping wound in there side would not stop bleeding, no matter how they bandages it. “Two years as your friend, dance, two years” The host whispered, hot tears jamming, blurring there eyes. “You always said it was dangerous, yet I never believed you...” the host admitted weakly. A shadowy figure appeared above the dying human and parasite. “Hello?” a stranger whispered. ~ Flash ~ Sharlett awoke, coughing, choking, and stumbling across the wet sand. She looked about her and recognised nothing, where was she? Where was her sister... Here eyes scanned the beach, and scanned the sea. The pirate ship was no were in sight, and neither was her sister. She turned and made for the trees, stumbling, lost, and alone. As she made deeper into the trees, something caught her eye. “Hello?” She whispered. ~ Flash ~ Dance looked up into the eyes of the stranger, and a strange feeling crossed over her. Despite there deadly wound the parasite brought her host to her feet. “Greetings” She whispered, and explained everything to the girl before her, what she was, her past, and what she planned for her future. The lonely stranger needed little convincing, they buried the previous host carefully, and built her a grave before moving on. Sharlett scrunched up her eyes, and rubbed her head. It was from the tole of two concisenesses in one body, there were bound to be flaws. After a while the Soul gently took over, and rose them. Sorry Dance murmured gently. After all, it was her presence here that caused the headaches and flash backs. They were infrequent, this was the second on in about two years out of three. After a moment of walking the Soul stood still, and looked before her, there was a stranger there. Dance frowned and felt for Sharlett in her mind. What do you think, should we say hello? she wondered softly. Sharlett sighed for a moment, before replying. Cant hurt to say hi she finally decided. With that the two that was one approached. |

After having spent so long working in the cities and towns, he'd almost forgotten about the wide open spaces like this. He gave a short whistle, wondering where Pip had gotten too, but it didnt take long for the bundle of fur to come skipping over. it stood at his feet waiting to be picked up and he laughed as he noticed the brightly coloured wing sticking out of Pips mouth. "What is it with you and butterfly's? ... really, you should let them be" but Pip just chittered at him, as he scooped him up onto his shoulder. He fussed the fur on top of its tiny head. He really ought to be doing something, but he felt so content there. The ring on the chain round his neck glinted in the sunlight, it was still as bright now as what it had been on the day that it was forged, and Finbar smiled at the memory. He mulled over what had happened in the past four years. He'd been to so many places, and met so many new faces, some of which he'd met more than once. Perhaps he should have a look for a few old friends after he'd rested here. He turned to go back to his belongings, and caught sight of a figure in the distance, he could see that the stranger was evidently female and dark haired, but that was all. So he returned to his items and reclothed. Picking up his bag he placed Pip into it, before slowly heading over to the young woman. On closer inspection, he could see that she was a young attractive woman, and didnt seem a particular threat to him, but still better safe than sorry, appearences could be deceptive. All the same he smiled at her and raised his hands to show that he meant her no harm. |
