The cool water of the ocean was like air to Cearulia as her blue tail proplled her through the water. The ocean today was calm and almost glassy on the surface. Her long deep brown hair flowed around her face as she tread water. The rays of water that made it through the water brought out the dark brown high lights in her hair. Small diamonds incrested the lines on her tallon. The scales created a sweetheart neckline covering cleavage but the dip went past her belly button. Her body was lean and fit. A small upturned nose wrinkled as she laughed when the gold fish swam around her waist.

Moments later the sound of waves crashing on wood made her look up. In the ocean she could see the bottom of a ship. With a curious smile she swam up to the surface, narrowing missing the heavy iron anchor that peirced thorugh the water. Swiming around it with a giggle bubbles raced her to the surface. When her head broke fro mthe water the suns rays warmed her cheeks. Looking up on teh ship she saw many men scurrying about and running around hirridly.

Their was one however that was just looking over the edge. Watching him she noticed his seroius but playful demeanor. Then he looked down, thei reyes met and she dove back down to the surface revaling her jade blue tail, the sun shinning on the scales and the diamonds on her tallons. In a hurry she swam up to the side of the boat and put ber back to it looking up through the water at him as he looked down uknowingly at her.

Morte sighed, hadn't he learned his lesson the last time around? Again he was out, and was told by a dwarf that their ale was better then his own. They had a drink off, Morte drinking the Dwarven ale, the Dwarf downing glass after glass of Morte's brew. They seemed neck and neck after a while, until Morte's vision started to get really blurry. Just as Morte thought he was going to lose, the Dwarf fell backwards, out cold. Everything else became a blur after that, and when he came too, his head was pounding, seagulls sounded like church bells ringing right in his face, and a sailor dumped a bucket of water on him.

He'd been drunkenly press ganged onto a ship, doing a suicide mission into the sea dragon's cave, trying to steal one of their eggs. Morte leaned against the railing, watching the open seas, he had considered trying to fly away, but he was too hungover to attempt it, and they may be too far away from any solid ground, his spell would wear off in the middle of the ocean, and he'd fall into the waiting jaws of sharks...

They arrived at the mouth of the cave, and the men hurriedly rushed around, dropping anchor and grabbing gaffs, spears, and hooks. They were going to sneak into the cave and steal one of the eggs, and they would all draw straws to see who would go first. Morte thankfully got a longer straw and went back to his spot, looking down at the water around the boat. Something broke the surface, something he hadnt expected to see. The sight of a cute girl brought a smile to Morte's face, her long brown hair flowing about underwater. Their eyes met for only a moment, before she went back underwater, her tail disappearing under the seas. Wait, her tail?

Morte rubbed his eyes and looked back down at the water, he couldn't still be hungover could he? Maybe that grog the captain had been shelling the crew had more alcohol then water, very surprising considering how cheap this captain seemed to be, afterall, the bulk of his crew were unfortunate drunks dragged aboard overnight... "Was that... Couldnt be..." Morte pushed the hood of his robe back, looking around the water again, "At least she's good luck."

As she stayed pressed against the boat a snake that was purple swam up to her and laced around her waist. You know your not allowed to be here countess. IT hissed in her mind. Cearulia rolled her grey eyes. That didnt matter, they were here for something. And the dragon here knew the mermaids, he respected them. And they didnt want to be his dinner so they stayed out of his way. Were these people fools to go about near his cave? They must be. But one had seen her. Now her father would kill her for sure. But as long as she was in trouble....

"I'm getting a closer look." She said outloud, bubbles dancing to hte surface. Swimming up she rocketed out of the water, her diamonds glittering, she was out of the water for just a few moments. In that she saw the same man again, playfully she winked. She saw drunk men. Then she dove back in, her body peircing the water she looked back up through the water to see if the shpi would go nuts. All she saw was as row boat be lowered.

The men were readying a rowboat to send in a group of men, they figured more men equals more eggs, though it really means more food. Morte sighed and watched as men got into the boat, some terrified, some thrilled to steal a dragon egg. Something deep in Morte's mind was happy about this adventure, but the rest of him hated it, he hated the captain, and he hated boats. Last time he was on a boat he was almost gutted by pirates, though at least one of them was cute...

Morte slumped against the railing, looking into the water again, as if on cue, the girl popped up again, winking at him. She had hopped up into the air and went back in. Morte's eyes widened and he turned around, grabbing a man untieing ropes, "Did you see that!?" The man shrugged Morte off and scowled at him, "See what you daft fool, the ocean air must be getting to you." Was he really the only man to see that woman? He looked around the ship, not one man was paying attention, focusing on their jobs. He was really the only man to see her...

"If your going crazy, maybe you should be one of the men to go in first!" The man said, shoving Morte at the railing, sending him over the edge and into the rowboat. Morte landed on a pile of rope, and it was a short fall, so it was ok, but his bottom hurt from the impact. "Grrr, Dammit." Morte slumped backward and hung his hand into the water, trailing it under the surface and looking at the mouth of the cave, it swallowing up the rowboat, just as the dragon would do soon enough. "We're screwed arn't we?" Morte asked a man wearing an eye patch, "Prolly, but maybe not. Those eggs do fetch a very high price in the black market, more so then even those ice breathing dragons!" Morte shook his head, looking up at the cavern ceiling, "Won't do us any good if we're dead..." He muttered, careful not to echo his voice in the cave.

The boat began to go into the cave. "thse people are going to get eaten huh." Of course. The snake replied in her head. Slowly following the row boat she saw a hand peek under the surface. Swimming up she just lookd at it and laughed, the bubbles tickling the hand, its fingers moved slightly. Narrowing her eyes just a little she swam a little higher up and put her hand in his gently. Hissing her snake familiar whipped her wrist with his tail. Are you crazy! he shoulted in her mind. With drawing her hand she looked at him accusidly. "NO!"

Swimming to the back of the boat she followed it for soem time, the small boat getting deeper and deeper into the cavern. On the bed she could see some golden coins belonging to the dragon that lived there. Ankua followed but chided her the whole journey.

When the water became shallowe she found a hidden away rock and used her arms to propell her up onto it so that she could watch. Cearulia lay on her stomach tail up on the rock, the water caressing her stomach where she lay. The men started to unload, one fell back int othe water, accidentaly she let out a laugh which ran through teh whole cave.

They went deeper into the cave, Morte's hand trailing underwater still as they approached a small beach where they would land. Morte's hand was suddenly tickled by something, but he held back his laugh knowing it would echo. Something wrapped around his hand, and Morte's eyes widened. He looked over the wise of the boat to see a hand holding his, but, as quickly as it appeared, it disappeared. Morte slowly pulled his hand out of the water, slightly scared.

They reached the beach and slowly pulled the boat up onto the sand a bit, being as quiet as they possibly could be. At least until some idiot got his foot caught in a gaff and fell into the water. Everyone laughed twice, but quickly put their hands over eachother's mouth. If the dragon heard them... Morte shuddered, and with the held of someone else helped the man who fell in the water out. Morte tied his robe tightly against him, so as to silence the noise of his chainlinked armor, and started up a trail with five other men. Close to the water this trail was, about a few feet above the water.

Morte looked around the cave, his eyes starting to adjust to the darkness. Some broken boats lay strewn about, and more then a few skeletons of various size and race lay around. This cave cannot be that big, and they should reach this dragon's eggs soon enough, however, no one could see the dragon, yet.

Watching them with wide eyes she smiled. They were so. dead. As they proceded she put her face in her hands. One man stayed behind and watched for a moment. She made eye contact with him though he didnt know it. Then seconds later he was gone.

They were gone for what felt like hours. Can we go yet? Her snake asked. "No. We cant." Now she was laying on her back her tallon in the water. Her heart stopped when she heard the deep breathing of a creature far larger tahn herself. Not daring to open her eyes she stood still.
"Why are you in my domain mermaid?" A deep voice asked.
"To watch the men taht dare steal from you great dragon." She replied carefully.
He laughed happily. "Swim off now darling before I eat you as a tuna snack. But warn them first, then swim and dont look back because I will eat you."
Daring to open her eyes she saw a smiling dragon above her. Shakily she raised a pearl to her lips and swallowed. A pain erupted in her stomach and she screamed, loud enough to make the sailors turn thei rheads back to hte entrance.
The dragon smiled. "You have legs, warn them."
Standing up ina blue diamond encrested gown she ran through the water and down the cave. The first one she saw was HIM. A smile crept onto her doll shaped lips.

Morte trailed behind the men, watching the waters. Just who was that beautiful woman, why did she have a tail, and why did she seem so interesting in him... Not that Morte wasnt interested in her either. They rounded a corner and saw them, large, green, veiny looking eggs about the size of a human torso, "My god we may need tw-" The man was silence by everyone else, "Quiet! do you want to get us killed!" Another man hissed quietly.

One of the men walked over and was just about to lift up one of the eggs when a suddenly womanly scream broke the silence. Every man there froze up, a shock shooting through their entire bodies. The men shook and looked around, three of them readying weapons, morte only raising a single hand to stop everyone. We waved his hand and two of the men follow him around the corner, to gaze on a beauty. It was HER, garbed in a beautiful blue gown, encrusted with diamonds, and a wonderful smile on her face. She was staring right at Morte.

One of the men lowered his spear, but the man with a hook sweated, what is this beauty was some sort of siren! He'd heard stories of beautiful women at sea that had the voice of angels, and their song would bring sailors running, and fed on their souls. "It's... You." Morte said, in a normal voice, forgetting the dragon for the moment.

A small laugh rang through the caverns. Looking at the egg she raised a perfectly sculpted black eye brow. Her snake curled around her arm. The dragon waited out side for them to run, because thats all they could do. Eyeing the hook hse took a step back. A worried face came to her prett yfeatures. "The dragon is waiting, you better leave the egg." She said pointing to the egg then to the ground. But she was speaking in mermaid tounge, not the land walkers.

Turning back she heard a rawr of a dragon. The air was becoming dry, she needed water. Grabbing hte wrist of the man that spoke to her she turned and ran out of the cave, they needed to use the head chance they were given. Then a terrifying comment made her run faster and let go of the land walker.

"The mermaid would be worth so much more ! Come on men! Get her!" Running faster than hse had before she kept her eye on the water.

The woman continued to stare at the trio, the other two men soon joining them. She spoke in some incoherent confusing language, pointing to the egg and then to the ground. "Does she want up to smash the egg?" One of the men uttered. The five men jumped when they were the gargley roar of the dragon, it was awake, and knew they were here! The woman grabbed onto Morte's wrist and dragged him away from the group, toward the mouth of the cave, at least until some idiot caught on to who, more what she was and shouted out, "The mermaid would be worth so much more! Come on men! Get her!"

She let go and ran off, leaving Morte dumbstruck for a moment until one of the men barreled past him wielding a gaff. She was, a mermaid? Half fish, half human, the stuff of legends and folk tails, but, real? More so, she was worth a LOT of money...

Morte began running with the men after her, a different goal in mind then selling her like stock. There men were sailors, and were in better shape then Morte, quickly speeding ahead of him, closing in of the running maiden. But no, Morte had a few tricks up his sleeves. Morte lept into the air, his ethereal wings taking in the sea air and sending him flying over the 4 men, and quickly to the 'mermaid'. Morte scooped the woman up in his hands and looked down at her, "It'll be alright, i'm going to get you out of her." He said in a reassureing voice. Morte flew for the exit, and was terrified at the sight of the dragon rearing its massive head, its open mouth showing its dozens of sharp teeth. He swooped under it's chin and out of the cave, flying over the ship which was a hive of activity.

Either the sailors on board noticed him with the woman, or they saw the dragon, but they were running on deck like chickens with their heads cut off. Morte was too busy watching the seas below to notice the flock of seagulls flying his way, and collided with them. "Gah!" Morte shouted, getting mixed up with the stupid birds and losing control, crashing into the water holding the woman...

Screaming hse ran, ran until her feet began to ache. Then just as she was about to touch the sweet water again her breath was taken away. A strong arm laced around her waist. She began to kick and scream, hitting the air relentlessly. As they flew she forgot how to breath, panic consuming her mind. Then she heard his words. Looking up at him she smiled, he wasnt going to hurt her. Not now atleast.

Then he did something stupid. A pack of seagulls which in her mind had whispered 'get out of the way' but still they collided. Screaming she saw the angry water and dove, her hands hit the water perfectly. Her legs morphed togethr creating her diamond encrusted fin. A sweetheart neckline her scales coveredc her cleavage but was so low dipped you coul still see her belly button. Looking around she saw him falling and reaching out.

Acting quickly she ran over and locked lips with him, giving him air.

His body hit the water, and he flailed about, his damn robes and armor made it quite difficult to swim. As if he didnt have enough trouble on his hands... He adjusted himself in the water and looked upward to the surface, and his heart sank. He'd sunk, WAY too far. He panics, kicking his feet, trying to race toward the surface, he screamed, what little air left in his lungs hurling upward to the surface.

He was going to drown, all because of some stupid fucking seagulls! His kicks became weaker, and his speed slowed. His lungs begged for air, burning for air, demanding this his mouth open up to give him air. If only his lungs had eyes and could see if he opened them now, he would flood himself with saltwater, and maybe a fish or two. Suddenly, gentle hands touched his shoulders, turning him to face HER. The woman, the beauty, this, mermaid. Gone was the gown she wore, now sporting a cute looking tail. His eyes widened, and felt his body pulled toward the woman, who closed her eyes, and parted her lips, a sight not too unfimilar to Morte, he'd just never seen it underwater before.

Her lips met his, and air was finally pumped to his lungs. His lungs cheered with joy, as his his heart, and Morte felt his arms wrap around the mermaid, holding her close to him in this lifesaving embrace.

The feeling of lungs about to burst made Cearulia scared for him. She kissed him a little bit with more life, widening thei rkiss so that more air could get into his lungs. As they did so she got them to the surface with the force of her tail. Her scales hitting his torso and legs as she pulled htem upward. Finally they made it, she let go of his mouth and his body letting him tread his hown water she looked around for a rock, or something. The shore wasnt too far off. Holding his hand she swam toward the shore.

Soon the waves were making them swim akwardly, her body was going with the tides, his against. Finally she gave him one last kiss so he could walk on his own. Watching him fall on the sand she pulled her fin up to the ebbing tide, the water licking her skin as she did so her tail lazily going in and out of the water she waited for him to wake.

Her eyes watched him with worry and curiosity. "Wake up." She said in her own tounge. The snake around her waist sat beside her, finally silent with frustration and dissaproval.

Morte was pulled in deeper for a larger more lifesaving kiss, which he rather enjoyed he might add. He hardly noticed that they were moving upward, too focused on the way this mermaid kissed, until they broke the surface of the sea, out into open air again. Sadly she broke the kiss then, and assisted his by swimming for the shore. Though, in their coupled position, it was hard to swim, and his heavy clothing were not making it any easier for the both of them. Laboriously the pair managed to swim to shore, the mermaid giving him another appreciated kiss.

Morte lay on the wet sand of the beach, a new beach, and opened his eyes, looking into the beautiful eyes of the mermaid. Her eyes spoke of worry and a hint of curiosity, with Morte looking back with a look of admiration and thankfulness. She spoke again in that strange tongue that he did not understand. Morte pushed himself up, sitting down cross legged on the beach looking at the mermaid, her tail lazily splashing into the water. She looked, stunning...

"Th-Thank you." Morte said, stuttering a bit from the shock and excitement of the situation.

Looking at him she smiled softly, realizing his handsomness hse raised a porcline hand to his hair and pushed it out of his eyes. "Your welcome." She said in his language, what she nkew little of. Her tail finally settled under the water, it was cool and refreshing. Many a sea folk would critize her for her hactions, she simply laughed and smiled. Putting a hand on his chest hse closed her eyes, and let energy infuse his heart to help it more. She opened them again and cupped her face in her hands watching him.

Almost like a child she smiled and reached for something hidden at his side. she laughed and grabbed for it, it was interesting and shewanted to see it.
