Ok. Well, this is a simple idea I'm putting forward to give choice of character race some kind of meaning in the combative environment. 'Traits' are things which a character may choose to include in their profile or inventory at no cost. They confer small bonuses by way of free abilities and unique talents in exchange for fixed weaknesses that can be exploited by others. Each trait has a name, such as 'Elf' or 'Cleric', but you are not required to be of that race or class in order to use that trait (With certain exceptions, such as the 'Dragon' trait). They are just the things that naturally match up with the listed ability/weakness set. By the same token, even if the character is an elf, they are not required to take the 'Elf' trait if they do not wish to.
Any trait which lists +/- strength/speed is referring to gained or lost levels of the Fighter Strength and Fighter Speed abilities, which are detailed in the 'Fighter Abilities' suggestion.
As for the attributes 'Weakness to cold iron' and 'weakness to silver', assuming this idea was implemented, then weapons made of the appropriate materials would be added into the shop also.
I thought about including Class traits as well, but I've yet to think of anything usable.
As with all the other suggestions I'm making, people will be free to create their own, subject to staff approval. These accepted traits will be added into the list for easy reference (Also so that you can't try and alter the attributes of your trait later). As things stand, this is a bare-bones list; I didn't want to waste too much time on it if the idea was going to be passed over. There should be enough to give you an idea, at least.
To clarify: THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE LIST. Again, unlisted races can be suggested and approved as needed. This includes racial ability sets that differ from the ones I'e provided.

- This trait can be taken multiple times, but must apply to different types each time

This is quite interesting. I guess that this is optional though ( i.e. you can have a character as part of a race but not apply the racial traits? )

One thing I forgot to include in the original post: You can only pick one racial trait per character. However, they can pick multiple traits from the 'Other Traits' list.

Interesting. Greatly. But I feel it may be hard to keep track of so many characters. However, it is incredibly interesting and I myself am leaning towards being implemented.

Interesting concept, but one thing I'm wondering: what exaclty do the numbers mean? Given that this is text-base RPing, there's going to be a lot of subjectivity in how people interpret these +/- numbers. So I'm not sure how much they will mean, in terms of ...y'know, the influence on a character's IC situation...

Well, there are already silver throwing knives. (Although those are pure silver making me doubt their effectiveness as throwing weapons based on the high density and soft metal.)
I also have to wonder, with psionic focus, when you said that they cannot possess any magical type spells, does that include charm? Because charm/dominate seems to be the most steriotypical psionic power.

Humans don't get any bonuses for race, as they are considered the 'standard' by which all others are judged. They don't have any noticable strengths, but they don't have any weaknesses either.
