Adri walked silently up the palace stairs to her home. She had been gone so long... Raina was now 3 years old and Adri 22. She sighed, her thoughts going back to the last time she was here. She had been in a hurry to get out of the castle & away from her 'shame'. Raina's fingers were wrapped tightly around Adri's pinky. She was wearing a simple white gown and her hair had ribbons and daisies braided into it. Raina was humming softly, swinging her arm, and Adri's with it.
Adri smiled down at her beautiful daughter. She was thrilled. Raina would finally get to meet her family, and so would Reiku. Adriana pushed open the large oak doors leading into the main hall and stepped inside. The smell of fresh flowers and great cooking washed over her like waves. She sighed happily, looking around to see if she could spot anyone that she knew. Nobody was in here.... not yet. She had sent news ahead of them that she would be coming to visit with her daughter and fiancee. She had recieved a reply from her mother telling her to go ahead and come that they all wanted to see her.
Adri stopped, she smoothed the pale purple gown she was wearing, and rearranged the silver tiara that sat on top of her curly hair. She pushed a few strands of her hair from her face and sighed. This was what she had been waiting for. What she had been waiting on. Finally her family would get to meet Raina and Reiku... her family....

A couple of steps were heard. Reiku had walked up beside Adri and held on to her hand. He smiled at her as they walked up the stairs and into the abode that had been her home. Her home that had once banished her for something that had not been her fault. He was a bit hesitant to visit her family. He felt some sort of anger towards her parents when they had let their daughter on her own. He felt greater anger towards her brother for violating her. He can bring himself to understand and forgive her parents but he couldn't think that he could bring it up to himself to even keep down his anger when he sees her brother. He might even attempt to kill her brother. That's why he informed Adri beforehand and brought his scouts in case of an emergency. A couple escorted them, about ten including Reid, his most loyal scout.
"Are you ready?" He asked her and held on tightly to her hand. He vowed to protect her and hoped to gain the blessing of her parents. He also prayed that nothing will go wrong, especially if he meets her brother, Raina's biological father. He is proud to say that he is the real father to Raina.

Adri sighed, then nodded. "Yes... I am ready..."
She held Raina's hand tightly and took Reiku's as well, letting her fingers intertwine with his. "Shall we?"
She walked with them outside into the main garden and spotted her mother sitting in a chair. She looked completely different from the last time Adri had seen her. Mercedes was skinnier and seemed exhausted. Her face was beautiful, but a few wrinkles were around her mouth and beneath her eyes. Adri smiled sadly, then cleared her throat. "Mother..." she said, her voice barely loud enough to gain attention.
Mercedes turned around, her face instantly lighting up with happiness. "Adriana, my baby girl..." Her mother walked to her quickly, embracing her in a hug as tears of joy ran down her cheeks. Adri returned her mothers embrace, and smiled when Mercedes stepped back to look at her. Already life seemed to be returning to the woman, and her eyes shone with pure delight.
"Mother, this is my fiancee, Reiku." Adri motioned towards Reiku, smiling. "Reiku, this is my mother, Mercedes." She looked back to her mother. "I love him, Mother... I really do..."
Mercedes smiled, and looked at Reiku, scanning him up and down for a moment. "He seems like a fine young man." She laughed softly. "I am sure you have taken very good care of my daughter, never have I seen her glow with such radiance."
Adri blushed, then bent over to whisper something into Raina's ear, pushing her a little closer to Mercedes. "This is our daughter, Raina." She smiled down at Raina and whispered, "Well, Raina, say hello to your grandmother."
Raina looked to Adri, then to Reiku before looking at Mercedes, curtseying slightly. "It 'tis a pweasure to meet you."
Mercedes grinned and nodded to Raina, "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, little one..."
Raina smiled, then moved to stand between Adri and Reiku, taking Adri's hand in her left hand and Reiku's hand in her right.

Her mother seems to have missed her so much. Reiku just smiled and took a small bow of respect to her. He smiled as he was introduced to her. "It is a pleasure to be of your acquaintance," Reiku spoke and nodded a bit. "I assure you, I am doing everything I can for your lovely daughter," Reiku told her with a small grin, knowing how well he can give her protection. A bit of it was shown by the couple of scouts that have escorted them as their bodyguards.
Adri then introduced Raina, their daughter, to her grandmother. After then, he held on tightly onto Raina's little hand. A scout walked over to Reiku and whispered something to him. Reiku just nodded and the scout resumed his position. He just smiled and nodded to them. "Do not worry. I was just informed that everything seems to be alright. No need to be alarmed."

Mercedes nodded, "That is good." She took notice of a servant motioning for her to come and then curtseyed to Adri and Reiku. "If you will excuse me momentarily, I have something to tend to. Please, Adri, you are home now... Act like it." With that Mercedes walked away, her steps steady and certain unlike before.
Adri smiled at Reiku, "I'm glad everything is fine. I would be worried if it were not...." She took a seat and pulled Raina into her lap. "So, what do think so far, dear?"
Raina squirmed and crawled off of her lap, running to go play in the garden. A few servants brought tea and fresh bread with butter. Adri smiled and nodded thankfully to them, then returned her gaze to Reiku. "It feels good to be home... but I really do want to know what you think? Isn't beautiful?" She smiled, motioning to the garden and building surrounding them. Everything was going to be good now.. she was home...

Reiku noticed a change of stride by Adri's mother. He decided not to make it obvious but will keep an eye on things. Things may not seem as good as they can be, it is still a possibility. For now, he'll just be the loving father and husband. Alert assassin would be for later if he senses that things are going strangely wrong.
"I think it's lovely," Reiku smiled as he turned to Adri. Raina seemed to want to play and Reiku seemed worried about their daughter. Without words, Adri should be able to tell from his facial expression, biting his lips and knitting his brows a bit, that he worries for Raina. "It's great that you are back home. The home where you should have been years ago. Though, if that were, we never would have met. I'm not saying I was thankful for you getting banished but...I just wished you had not suffered that time during banishment."

Adri giggled, "Reiku, don't worry about Raina... she is fine. I promise, nothing or no one will arm her here, they fear my father too much and all hell would break loose if anything, even a mere bump appeared on his grand-daughter. He is very protective of family, especially toddlers."
She took Reiku's hand, hoping to calm him. "I know what you mean, dear... but I am personally happy for my banishment. It gave me a lot of experience I would not have had if I had remained here. I was able to interact with normal people and not just the wealthy, I made friends who liked me not for my money yet for my personality..."
Adriana sighed, "When you live here, at court, people are only your friends for their gain... Being among normal people was something I would never wish to give up, even if the reason I was there was not of the best."

Reiku could understand where she was coming from. Nobles. Those that he had met during his early years cared so much only for money. He remembered to even argue with Adri about it before he had proposed to be her husband. It seems as the banishment did do a lot of good things. He had met Adri, she had not become a greedy noble. He was proud that Raina had a father that cares for her. He had something to protect and come home to.
"I know love, I just can't seem to easily calm down just yet. Forgive me," Reiku told her and held on to her hand. He felt the ring that he had given her and smiled as he placed a soft kiss on her lips. "I promise to be at my best behavior for you and Raina. But please, I really don't want to face your brother. I still can't forgive him."

Adri giggled, "I shall never forgive him.... but I refuse to tell him that because, well, because my anger gives him control over me and he shall never control me..."
She sighed, bringing Reiku's fingers to her lips as she kissed his finger tips. "I have you, and Raina... and that is all that matters..."
Raina came running, in her hands she held flowers. She handed one to Adri and then one to Reiku before smiling lovingly at them both. "Mommy...Daddy... I love you...." She giggled and climbed onto Adri's lap, letting her mother play with her hair. Raina looked at Reiku, "Will you pway wif me later? I saw a bwig bath tub over there," She said, pointing at a small pond in the garden. "Can we pway in it later? Pwease, Daddy, pwease?" She put her hands together as though she were begging and then sneezed.
Adri laughed, "Bless you...."

It's what he had thought. Even she could not forgive him. Yet, he looked up to her for she was handling this well more than he was. And she was the victim here, not her. Truly a great woman which he was glad to be his lovely wife. He felt her kiss his fingertip and smile. He placed his hand gently on her cheek and pulled her close, placing a soft kiss on her lips.
Then, their daughter had ran up to them and had given them flowers. He smiled and took the one she had given him. He placed a gentle hand on Raina's head and stroked her hair. He smiled and nodded. "Of course, Raina. We'll play later but only if you behave and be a good girl, alright?" He laughed a bit and placed a kiss on his daughter's cheek. Raina and Adri, his family. He was thankful to have such people in his life.

Raina giggled and smiled, "Yay... Mommy, will you play wif us too?"
Adri nodded, "Yes, dear. Of course I will, but do as your father says and be a good girl, okay? We have just arrived but I am sure that after supper it should still be warm enough to play."
Raina squirmed out of her mother's lap and crawled into her father's, curling up against him and sucking on her thumb. She closed her eyes and laid her head against Reiku's chest. "I wuv you, Daddy..."
Adri smiled as Raina crawled into her father's lap, smiling at the sight of the two of them together. Things were so perfect... oh so perfect... She would have to talk to Reiku later, she wanted to make sure that he understood that her parents and family were to think that Raina was their child, not Adri's child by her brother... Raina was their's in heart so in Adriana's eyes she was in body as well and that was how Adri wanted their family to view Raina.

"I love you too, sweetie," Reiku smiled and placed a kiss on Raina's forehead and stroked her hair. He chuckled as she lay there on his lap, starting to seem to sleep. So tranquil and peaceful. And it was a blessing that Adri and Reiku had. Oh, no matter how many times he repeats it, he was always lad to be her father. Though, not biological, he still considers himself as the real father. He was not some (according to his opinion) bastard that would go around raping his own sister and leaving her to be banished alone. Ah, yes, he still bears a grudge and he wondered if he'll be able to keep his calm if he even saw a piece of hair of his brother's.
"You seem troubled," He leaned to Adri and whispered so as Raina would not hear. He didn't want his daughter to worry. He wanted her to be the happiest and sweetest little girl. Though, he did want to teach her how to fight so she can defend herself.

Adri shook her head, also keeping her voice to a whisper. "I am not troubled... but, just so you know... My parents think that Raina is your's by birth and blood... I know she is in our hearts but you understand what I mean... I want them to keep thinking that she is ours, both in body and soul. They need not know that she is.... she is the child I left with, Mother has told Father that I lost that child because that is what she has assumed from when I wrote to her and called Raina ours."
She smiled at Reiku. "She is ours in my eyes, and in yours as well I'm sure... therefore, she shall be ours in their eyes so that your parentage is never questioned and so that my brother doesn't decide he wants to be a father... "
She had said the last few words with bitter resentment, showing how strongly she was disgusted by her brother. He would never be forgiven... not for the sin he had committed.... "If he asks about the child I had when I left, I shall tell him I lost it... because in truth I did, I lost Raina as his when she became ours.... and if someone happens to ask you, shall you say the same, please?"

Reiku pondered over this for a while. In reality, it wasn't such a big deal and he actually would like to conform to the idea. He had already considered Raina his own child and would not accept any other. He smiled at his loving wife and placed a gentle hand on her cheek. He pulled her close and placed a soft kiss on her lips and smiled.
"I think it would be better if they did think Raina was our own child by blood. You know that I love our daughter as if she were my own by blood. You have nothing to worry, my love," He stroked her hair affectionately and pulled her closer to him, laying her head on his chest as he lay his on hers. He kissed her hair softly as he had her in a one armed embrace, trying to console her and wanting her to know that there is nothing to worry about.

Adri smiled, pleased. "Mmmm, you are right... I have nothing to worry of except... no, I have nothing to worry about at all...."
Adri was smiling both outside and in, but on the inside she had something else to worry of. A matter of which she had yet to tell anyone other than her soul. It was thrilling news, but she had wanted to wait until after herself and her family were home because she didn't want to tell Reiku the news whilst they were still at her parents home. Such a thing she found... improper. She knew this, but couldn't wait to tell him anyway and well, then she decided she should wait no matter how tempting it was not to. She prayed he would be as excited as she was, prayed that together they would always be no matter what. Yet she knew Reiku wouldn't leave her over such a thing as she had to tell him... he would actually be more likely to stay...
