A person with wings? And what the hell was an "anthro"? If she wasn't so worried about seeming stupid, she would have asked. She'd heard tales of werewolves and things like that, but she hadn't ever met one. In all honesty, she wasn't quite sure they existed. "Wow, you have met a lot of people. Weren't you scared? Meeting new people always scares me," she replied, her eyes wide, and she glanced back at the girl to make her point. Deirdre didn't even notice her slip. Eyeing the town, it still looked like they were pretty far away, but she was starting to be able to make out houses and the like. That was a good sign. "We're closer! And it looks like the town is still lived in, I can see a chimney with smoke coming out of it!" She exclaimed, excited. Soon they would be warm and could look for Thio's brother. |

Humming thoughtfully for a moment, the blind girl shook her head. "No. They never tried to hurt me so I wannit scared. But a lot of the time people are just scared of those who are different because of what they look like" She giggled softly. "But since I can't see I don't know how different they are from everyone else so who care?" Well it seemed like perfect logic to her. Nearly literally did her ears peeked at the words. They were getting closer! She clapped her hands briefly in delight. "Great!" |

That was a very innocent (and charming) way of looking at things. The more Deirdre thought about Thio's point of view, the more she agreed with it. It was a lot more tolerant than what she'd been taught. "I think I like that - that's a smart way of doing things. So I guess I shouldn't be scared of people who haven't hurt me ... yet," she answered, smiling. The city was getting ever closer, and her hopes rose. Perhaps they wouldn't freeze to death! In another person, Thio's last comment would have been sad, but it was just kind of cute coming from her. "Do you ever wish you could see?" It was a loaded question, but Deirdre was fairly confident people asked Thio that all the time. The snow crunched under her feet, and she glanced behind her to make sure that the girl was following, before continuing on walking. |

She had a tendency to give off the assumption that she was much younger than she was. This had nothing to do with her kind aging more slowly than others, as she'd only been afflicted for about a year. But she was so innocent from her life spent away from the 'bad' things, and could not see the cruelty some inflicted on others. And her childish nature did not draw away her innocent naiveté. "Not really. I was born blind. so I don't really miss anything. My brother is always trying to find some way to help me see again. But I don't really need it." |

It seemed that she and Thio suffered from the same malady. Deirdre was twenty-four years old, but most of the time she came off as fifteen or sixteen. She liked to be playful, she liked to enjoy her time with other people. Her profession and goal often sobered her, but she tried her best to have fun as best she could. All work and no play led to various illnesses, or so she had heard. "I guess I can't blame your brother for trying. But I think that's sweet- even if you don't need it, it says he cares about you!" She exclaimed. The conversation they were having was seemingly making the journey go faster. "He seems like a nice guy. I'm glad you're you without your sight. I knew a blind girl back home, and she never left the house; she just moped all the time. It was really sad." ooc; You can have them reach the town any time you want. xD |

Thio nodded, pausing to shuffled through a particularly stubborn mound of snow. "Yep. He is. Always watching out for me. But I think he is real over protective. Kinda annoying. But then I gt to tease him for it and its funny when he is embarrassed. Hehe." She giggled, remembering all the times her brother would say something insinuating that she would be put in too much danger, when she dealt with the problem better than him! But, they were just the same same much as they were opposite. That's how siblings generally were though, right? Shuffling through the snow was much easier thanks to the other girl breaking up the trail ahead. Thio noted this with humor recalling her statements before. Soon though the snow gave way to cobblestones, ad the scents and sounds of civilization filled her senses. Thio did need the other to inform her that they'd finally made it to town. "Yay! Finally." |

Deirdre grimaced, her legs going numb. She would need a nice, warm bath once she got there, and maybe a healing or two. She'd acquired a couple scratches on her arms from "Civilization!" She exclaimed, resisting the urge to kiss the ground because Thio couldn't see it and wouldn't understand the joke. "Finally is right! We need to find an inn, and then we'll look for your brother, ok? Or do you want to look for him first?" Glancing around, she was glad the place wasn't very crowed; otherwise she would have asked Thio how she was going to get around without bumping into people. ooc; Are we going to bring in Newt for Thio's brother? xD Edited by Deirdre Eimh, Jun 30 2009, 01:46 AM.

"...Maybe." Truth be told Thio had never thought that far ahead. Why would she leave her brother's side ever? Little did she know how difficult it would be too when one appeared perpetually sixteen. But she had not yet learned of the immortalities surrounding lycanthropy. Enjoying the feel of solid ground on her feet once more, she bounced on her heels. 'Okay!" Her head tilted as she 'sniffed' around. 'And he'll probably be at a tavern nor a market or something. So we got plenty of time!" |

Thio's reply made her laugh. Apparently they were close; but Deirdre had no way of knowing. She was an only child, at least in the way she'd been raised if not by blood. Her grandfather had only been able to tell her the names of her parents, nothing more than that. She liked it better this way. "We'd better find him, otherwise he might think you have!" Glancing around, she looked for the customary signs of an inn -- big bustling crowd outside, some sort of sign having to do with an animal, usually the largest building in a town (next to the tavern). Spotting one that looked good, Deirdre headed for it, calling over her shoulder. "I hope so. We might have just missed him, but don't worry. We'll find him, and I've got nothing better to do. I'll be obnoxious and hang around- I want to meet this brother of yours." |

She was cold too. Just ... not as cold as her new friend. But, thanks to the older girl breaking the path ahead, the blind werefox was able to get to town without being hurt. Thio was sure that her brother would be so grateful that he'd let Thio invite Deirdre to her house anytime! Wouldn't that be fun? Listening to the girl's footsteps and the sound of her voice, Thio carefully followed, making sure to not get distracted by other village noises. |

Deirdre was careful to keep chattering on, to give Thio something to listen to. She had a hunch that the girl used something like that to get around, when she was with someone else. "It must be more dignified than holding on to someone all the time, she must be brave," she thought to herself. "---anyway, my Uncle said he came up to the mountains one time, he and my grandfather were always talking about the danger of mountains. I guess they were right, because I shouldn't have come up here all alone, I'm really lucky I ran into you ---" Reaching the door and opening it (keeping it open for Thio) she smiled at the innkeep, "I'd like a room for me and my friend. We're looking for someone. Thio, what does your brother look like?" |

Thio rarely held on to anyone for guidance, except her brother. Sometimes she'd grab his belt and follow him. Or if he was in a particularly good mood, he'd just pick her up and carry her. But ... that's what brothers were for ... right? Oh, yeah, her friend didn't have a brother. Thio forgot. As they finally stepped into a warm inn, Thio shook herself as if to dislodge the cold. "Um..." Thio really couldn't... describe in detail. All she knew of her brother's appearance was by touch. Oh! And if he had been here lately she could find him by scent. But she couldn't tell her friend that. It would be too ... weird. "He's got ... long hair. i keep telling him to cut it! And carries a shortsword, or two cause I didn't borrow one lately." |

Oops. She hadn't even thought of the question before it'd just popped out. The landlady looked at the pair of them skeptically, before handing over a key to Deirdre. "Two beds, for the night, twenty-five gold. Payment in the morning, or I'll have Joe after you," she replied, rolling her eyes. "And I haven't seen anyone like that, but we aren't the only game in town. Mistress Car's place down the road a little ways might have him." Deirdre nodded, still dumbstruck by her own stupidity. "Thanks, we'll go upstairs now," Deirdre said pointedly, before resuming her chatter to Thio. "Well, sorry about that, I forgot. I know, I'm a terrible new friend, you can be mad you want. Anyway, there will be a bathing area and a room for us, and we can look for your brother right away I guess --- " It lasted her all the way up the stairs and to the room. |

Of course Thio didn't mind. She was not insulted or anything when people forgot about her lack of sight from time to time. It was just something she had always lived with and so she had gotten over it long ago. Anyways, her brother sometimes acted as if she had sight, so she didn't mind if others did too. In fact she found it quite funny at their embarrassment later. She seemed not to notice the inn keeper's 'threat' if they didn't pay. Maybe she was too busy listening to the chatter of nearby patrons. Nothing interesting was to be noted there however. Nodding quickly as her friend mentioned the upstairs room, she followed after with a little hop in her step. Walking towards their room, Thio would nod or say something in agreement. Laughing briefly at the notion of her being mad, she reached out and gently patted her friend's shoulder. "I'm never mad! And besides, you stomped through all that snow to make a path for me." She of course was teasing a little. |

Well, at least their relationship didn't seem to be any worse for wear because of her slip up. Thio was following her, barely a step behind her. She was just glad that the other girl couldn't see her mortified expression; it wasn't exactly pretty and if Thio wasn't stressed, neither was Deirdre. The girl seemed pretty easy-going, and even if it wasn't her idea to take advantage of it, she wasn't going to exacerbate any sort of situation with Thio. "Yeah I guess you're right," she said, before chuckling. So she had been helping Thio through the snow, and that was why the journey had seemed harder on her - all Thio did was follow her footsteps! Well, that made things seem much better. Opening the door to their room, she was pleasantly surprised. Two beds, a small bathroom with a warm bath in it, and food on the table awaited them. "Why don't you take the first bath? Do you need help finding the room, or can you manage? I might just go down and inquire about your brother. And you look frozen!" |
