Step. Step. Step. Step. Step. His footprints made loud noise as he stepped on twig after twig. He was a bit in a hurry. Though it was day, he never did like forests when he was stepping this loud. Somehow he didn't feel safe knowing that for each step he took, he was telling those near him of his presence. He isn't one to refuse company but he wanted company that he could see and that would rule out those that were stalking him. Perhaps he was paranoid about these things but he was just being cautious. After all, he still has a lot to learn so he can defend himself fairly well. He arrived at a clearing. A small stream flowing as he reached the bank. In his opinion, it was better. Open space and no noise making twigs. He decided to settle down for a while, finding a suitable place to sit on, preferably something that has no dangers of falling into the stream. He found and sat himself on a nearby rock, stretching his legs, tired and worn out from his wandering. |

Momo wasn't really a ''rustic'' sort of person. The out-doors were there, yes, but she'd never really cared to take advantage of them. She was a city girl - the difference between thieving in the city and in the country was vast. In the country, you actually had to be imposing and there was more of a battle. With the crush of city bodies, you could easily slip in and out of crowds, taking purses at your will. "Fuck!" She cursed, as she tripped over a vine. "I hate nature." There was only one way to travel, when one didn't own a horse, and that was by foot. While it was all very well and good to actually be moving, the nights of sleeping under the open sky and being bitten by a million bugs and god-knows what else got old. Fast. At least she was wearing men's clothing. Skirts and corsets (and other such garments) were not the best for trekking through the woods. Coming across a clearing, she sighed and tripped again, this time landing flat on her face, before getting to her feet - face burning red. "Shit!" She muttered, before realizing she wasn't alone. Not a very ladylike thing to say in the presence of another. "Oh. er. Sorry. I didn't see you .. there, you know?'' |

He sighed and tried to relax and ease up. His ear picked up some sounds of footsteps and he opened his eyes and gazed at his feet. He was wondering if he was the one making that noise. He can be a little dumb at times but he is worth his salt. Seeing his feet not move sent him into thinking...well...more like calculation. 'If I'm not stepping then I shouldn't be making sounds. If there are sounds, it means someone is stepping. I'm not stepping but there are sounds. If that someone isn't me then it means someone else is there!' He heard a ruffle of leaves and bushes and turned to the direction where he came from. His heart pounding, fearing that it was some sort of beast that would come after him. He does not know any damn spells to protect himself and he felt useless. Suddenly, this girl suddenly popped up and made him jump. She cursed lightly (he was used to the other scholars cursing when their calculations went wrong) and he managed to calm down. "It's alright. Are you...er...alright?" |

In his defense, the man who she had so unceremoniously ran into in the forest took it rather well. He did seem rather surprised, like he was expecting something frightening, rather than a barely five foot tall girl who had a habit of being exceptionatly clumsy. "I wonder, if I say boo, will he scream?" She thought, getting to her feet and noticing his stance. He spoke, and she shook her head, displacing a wet leaf from her hair. It fluttered to the ground weakly, and she glared at it. "Do I look like I'm all right? Didn't your ma ever teach you to help a lady?'' Okay, so she wasn't a lady anymore, but he didn't have to know that. "Geez, what are you just standing there for?'' Muttering to herself about ungrateful men, she straightened her tunic and her breeches, before readjusting the cap on her head. ''You are no help at all. I suppose you have a good reason for just watching me and not even offering to help me up, don't cha?'' |

Thanks to his slow brain of the moment, he did nothing but stare at the girl that had stumbled out of the forest. She was wearing something that...well, didn't really suit her that much. Though, to him, she seemed like a fragile young lady and looked very much out of place. The girl shouted at him. That's right. Shouted. Telling him that the way he was acting wasn't the way he should be around a lady. He started to chuckle and laugh out loud, placing his hands on his stomach. "A lady? That's not the way a lady should act, right?" He teased her and got up from the rock. As he did so, he slipped and fell into the stream. Karma. One would say that it was karma getting back at him. He sat in the water, soaked, his hair down to his face. He was still laughing, finding the sudden situation amusing. He got up and tried to squeeze the water out of his clothes. He shook his head like a dog shaking its fur to dry itself out. Water droplets showering all over him before he continued to squeeze his wet clothes that had stuck on him. |

Why did everyone in Avalon insist on laughing at her!? What was she doing that was so goddamn funny? Glaring, she frowned and shook her head. ''Unbelievable! Your manners just get worse and worse, I should leave now and spare you the embarrassment you've already brought upon yourself,'' she shouted, shaking her head. ''You ought to be ashamed of yourself, laughing at someone in a worse situation than you. Real men would help.'' So far, he didn't seem to care that she was informing him on the right and wrong ways to act. ''A lady can act however she wants, thanks very much! And I'm not a real lady, that was just telling you how you should treat me. Don'tcha know that men should treat every girl like she's a lady?'' She snapped, before giggling as he fell into the water. HAH. That was the gods teaching him a lesson for being so rude towards her, and talking back. Momo didn't really want him to think she was a lady - that was her past, and thieving was her future now. No point in lying and saying otherwise; she couldn't go back to her parents house. They'd already told her that they didn't believe she had the willpower to last a year on her own - she would just be proving them right if she crawled back now. ''See? Bad things happen to you if you don't.'' |

He squeezed off as much water as he can from his clothes before brushing his hair up and turning to her. She seemed like an awfully nice girl. Awful and nice. It wasn't what he was expecting, he expected to relax from all his travels. This doesn't really count as relaxing. He cough a bit before sitting back atop the rock from which he had slipped from a while ago. "Really now? What a lady like you doing out here in the woods? It's a bit dangerous you know," He told her, trying to act all manly while he himself was trying to get out of the woods as fast as he can. He can fight of course, but he is not that confident in his melee fighting skills. Hell, the only thing he is proud of is his jewel sorcery and he doesn't even know spells yet! Remembering about jewel sorcery made him reach into his pockets. Nothing was there. That was a huge problem. There should be a few magically charged stones for magic catalyst purposes there. He gazed at the stream and saw a few stones under the water but some were being carried by the current, shining and gleaming. Without a word, he went back in the water, picking up what he can and wading to get the others. |

He was ridiculous, in every single way. Momo couldn't think of anything he'd done so far that hadn't been completely and totally exasperating. ''If I didn't know better, I'd think he'd been put here simply to piss me off,'' she thought ruefully to herself, watching him attempt to clean himself up. ''But the gods wouldn't be that mean, would they?'' You never knew. ''What I'm doing is my business! Anyway, I'm going to visit ... uhm, family, in the city! I just couldn't find my way through the other places, so I'm trying the forest next. Just so happens that I'm going alone, because I can protect myself,'' she added, turning up her nose and thinking of the dagger at her hip. She just didn't have the heart to rob him, not when he obviously needed what he had - he would lose it otherwise. ''I don't know why a wimp like you is out here. Obviously you can't protect anything!'' Then again, maybe he was crazy as well. He'd just finished trying to dry himself, only to jump back in the water to look for something. ''What in the seven hells are you doing?!'' |

"Gah, shut up and help me pick up those jewels!" He called out to her in a panic. True, he didn't intend to sound rude or anything but the jewels were important to him. Though, he can be called rich for having lots of them, he didn't use them for bragging rights. He uses them for casting spells and he stores magical energy in them. And currently that pent up magical energy is getting carried away. He did his best to catch and reacquire all the jewels that had gotten dragged by the current. Jewels that were pretty much of high value even without the magical energy stored in them. He managed to do so. All that was left were the jewels that didn't get dragged, sitting on the soft soil under the shallow stream. Slowly, he went back, hoping that the girl would have help, though, he didn't expect her to. She seemed too annoyed at him to do anything. It did not cross his mind that she could be a thief. It was his slow brain process that sometimes would seem like it was going to get him killed. |

Well, her interest was more than piqued at the mention of jewels. "He's a jewel-trader? Seems a bit too naive for that, but hey, we all come in all forms," she thought to herself, pleased at the discovery as she abandoned her ceaseless yelling at him for his gauche treatment of a lady. Now that there was a chance to be making a profit, she was more than okay with jumping in a stream and getting all wet. ''Why didn't you say there were jewels in the first place, dolt! I would have helped faster,'' she said, combing the bottom of the stream with her hands, feeling for polished rocks that didn't belong. ''You seem to have your priorities out of order, especially if you carry such rocks in your pockets,'' she added, finding one and discreetly slipping it into her own pouch at her waist. Since her back was to him, she doubted that he would even notice. ''What do you do with them, anyway? Sell them? Or do you just carry them around?'' |

He kept gathering the jewels that had fallen out of his pockets, not keeping an eye on her as he picked up everything that felt like a jagged stone, throwing away those that were just plain stones and continuing to scavenge. He double checked to see if there were any of them left in his area and walked up to her, tapping her shoulders to ask for the jewels. "If you should know I do dangerous things with them. I make them explode...in a way. Jewels are great spell catalysts and each one of those jewels were charged with magical energy," He told her in all his honesty what those jewels were for. True, he charged them up with every moment he can afford. The other problems were charging them too much. It would cause the jewel to explode and cause a few injuries if not careful. Luckily, he knows his way around jewels...though, he did have a few accidents once in a while. "Alright, give them to me. You didn't miss anything did you? I don't know what effects it would have on a body of water," He told her, not really knowing the other effects of jewels. All he knows is that he uses it for his spells. That's all. |

Was he really that stupid? It wasn't like he was just talking about rocks, these were genuine jewels that he had dropped, and was letting her pick up. Snagging another three, she slipped another one into her pouch. Greed would not get her caught, not this time. He would be suspicious if she said that she didn't find any, even though he could hear her splashing about in the water. ''But why would you make them explode? They're just jewels, and they might be catalysts, but they're valuable,'' she protested at his words, shaking her head. ''What a waste. Typical male, trying to use it to battle with or some such shit. Jewels are made for buying, selling, and admiring. Not exploding and storing magic in. It's a waste of money as well. You buy them, just to explode them up. No use for that.'' Rolling her eyes, she carefully cupped her hands around the two that she had ''found'', feeling the weight of the other two in her pocket. ''Here. Take your rotten jewels that you use,'' she sniffed, offering them to him. ''What would I need them for anyway? Besides, it's not my business if you waste them.'' ''However, I can make it my business, if you continue being this stupid about your stuff and where you keep it. Dolt.'' |

He was annoyed at the way she treated his way of spell casting. He sighed, thinking that the people these days only want money, gold and riches to fix their lives. Where was chivalry, honor and search for knowledge? None, he guessed. He gave a loud hmp! before snagging away the jewels from her hands, a bit rudely at that too. He wouldn't notice any jewels missing given the number that he has but he just doesn't want to cause anything. "Good," He looked at the jewels a bit before pocketing them, believing her notion that she had not taken any of the magically charged valuable stones that he had. He laughed a bit, deciding to play a small prank at her. "We wouldn't want any bits and pieces of you flying around, wouldn't we?" He joked around, though, sounded a bit serious when he kidded about the jewels that might combust at any given time due to the magical energy. Of course, he wasn't sure if it would do that, he still need more time to research. Slowly, he dragged himself towards the stream-side, proceeding to dry off his clothes again. He already dried off a bit but he had to go back for the jewels, even though he has a great number of them hidden in his home. |

Momo could use magic -- if she wanted to. The gift ran in her family, though she was never going to be a great user, she did have the capacity. For the most part, she only knew simple spells: spells to give light, heal small wounds, hide weapons. Just little useful things that she could use on a day-to-day basis. Any large workings made her nervous, and she avoided mages as a general rule; they always had something going on, and most of the time it didn't benefit Avalonians as a whole. So, when he mentioned something about bits and pieces of her body flying around, well, she blanched and turned pale. ''He's lying. He has to be! No rock could make that happen,'' she thought to herself, trying to soothe her panic. It wasn't necessarily working. Turning around and pretending to scan the river again, she reached into her pocket and fingered the jewels. Yes, they would probably fetch a high enough price on the black market that she would be able to eat for weeks, but no one would buy them if they were cursed or had magic in them. No one would be that stupid; and if they were that stupid, they wouldn't give her a good price. Sighing, she made up her mind, and pretended to bend down, as though she had suddenly seen some more. ''Wait! Here are two more!'' She exclaimed, acting as best she could. Pulling herself out of the stream, she tossed them at his feet, before wringing out her own breeches and tunic. ''I almost missed them, they were hidden by mud.'' |

He squeezed his clothes as much as he can to dry them off. Of course, there were easier ways to dry them off but that would be inappropriate in this situation. Besides, he expected to arrive in a nearby town before nightfall. A nice inn with a nice bath so he can dry his clothes. He wasn't able to pay attention to her as he had his back turned to her. He turned around when he heard her exclaim that there were two more of the jewels in the river. They were hidden by the mud so they were hard to see. He smiled as he picked up the jewels and placed them in his pocket along with the others. "Wow, you're really helpful. Thank you very much," He thanked her in all honesty as he felt his pockets for the jewels. Somehow, he felt safer with those around. Like a hunter with his blade, he was with his jewels. He didn't know what he would do without them. He was a bit obsessive when it comes to these precious stones and it was shown when he had jumped immediately into the stream at the first sign of them missing on his person. "What's your name?" He asked this newly met girl, realizing that he doesn't know her name. He only knows that she popped out of nowhere, wanting to be treated like a lady and helped him gather the jewels. |
