The Earth will shake.
|
Against her command, the earth shook. It should not have. But she remained unafraid, this was merely the final proof she required. For too long she had been alone in her charge, protection of the elements, hers being earth. Though the young guardian had done all she could, she was still merely one, and it wasn't enough. Perhaps fate had decided to stir in some action of its own, throw Avalon into disarray in the hopes that at last, one strong enough would be borne into power or another simply driven into action. It was this which drew her to investigate the old shrines, regardless of the reason. The temple of darkness, she had been there once before, many years ago. Back then, the forest had been alive, virtually crawling with wolves and many other animals. Now it was not more than dead timber and skeletons embedded in dirt. It pained her to see things that way, it was quite different from the vigor and life she found in her oasis. But after investigating the ruined marble temple, she found it to be just as dead as the forest surrounding. The darkness was strange, a tangible thickness that even she could not see through more than inches before her. So after a mere few hours of exploring the former shrine of darkness, she left. That was days ago. She had since ventured into unknown lands, seeking out the other temples, those fallen since the disappearance of their guardians. But she had come up empty handed. It was time, a decision had to be made. And she was the only one to begin it. The search for an answer, before more than shadows twisted, before fire scorched the heavens and water overtook the shores. How ever much time had passed, she did not know. Alezra never had that good a sense of time anyways. The sun rose and set many times in this particular journey, however. In the lost lands, she'd seen a dragon fly overhead. And she followed it. It vanished in a smoke choked sky, leaving her to halt her run. Balancing precariously on the edge of a dark sulfuric pit, she unfurled her wings and hopped back. Alezra turned, folding her wings as they vanished silently, he ears flicked back in confusion. This was all that remained of the great fire shrine? A scorched pit in the earth, dragon bones, and death? It was here, the next step in figuring out what had happened to the other elemental shrines, the answers, to find them she would have to start here. Her eyes closed, but any who called themselves her follower, their eyes would open. Figuratively speaking, of course. They would see the dilapidated darkness temple, the fire scorched pit in the earth, and they'd know the way without any previous knowledge of the place before. Alezra, being as she was, had no spectacular words to give, no speech or promise of victory. There was only the simple expression of her need for followers and those in tune with the world spirit, of anyone who listened being summoned to her side. In all of her years protecting Avalon as she could, the guardian of earth needed help. |

Living Leviathan
|
The Silver stood in his home in Sanctum, a far cry from the former Temple of Darkness. A follower of the Guardian of Earth though he had never met her, his eyes scanned the horizons, their molten silver color attempting to focus on the pull he felt. Something was calling to the barbarian dragon, calling on his very soul, even the great serpent within shook with instinctual knowledge of trouble. Chaos has gripped the land, the missing guardians was more than the world could take, with the Gods vying for power, it had left a massive opening in the Great Spirits protective covering. None had been called in so many years, that it seemed none ever would. He didn't know why, whether it was the asperation of the Guardian of Earth, or the call of the beast, but he had set off, flying high toward the ancient island shrine of the last Guardian of Water, the infamous pirate king, Black Beard. A graveyard of ships and frozen waters, an Island with only a tomb to remember the dead was left, and he had no chance of finding answers from a cemetery. Being so close to the water though had nearly driven Jormungandr into a frenzy, but Adenon beat it back, this was no time to be careless. Instinct, all had it, and a Dragon was as in tune with its as its own cognitive mind. The barely had time to reach the tomb before the earth shook, a great quake that rocked the ocean floor and caused massive waves to begin to over take the ancient island. For nearly sixty years he had remained in mortal form, his immortality keeping his body youthful, but it seemed the time to hold to the Welun ways would be over soon, if he didn't take chances. With a powerful roar, leather became scale, as Adenon took his dragon form, the might of the Silver Dragon rushed through him as he felt the wings stretch from his back. He took to the sky, a flash and blur of Silver on the darkened sky. He stretched his wings and flew south, toward the burning lands of his crazed and warped cousins, the Lost Lands. The distance wasn't far, he was lucky Black Beard was so intent on remaining close to Fincayra rather than Avalon. He traveled over the dark green ocean, feeling the pull of the Spirit driving him forward, but the Chaos of the Water drawing on his inner beast. He shook his head, clearing his thoughts and released another thundering roar as he passed over the beach and into the heart of the land. Smoke choked his throat and burned his eyes, as he flew into the heart of the land of chaos. He could feel more than see his brethren, swooping about the columns of smoke many had made themselves. A blinding streak of speed followed so far below on the ground until he swerved into the smoke, searching for the next shrine, Fire. A Draconian had lived here, retaining power over the smoldering heat like none before him, and now the Ice Grip of Adenon was lowering toward the ground. Quickly he descended before he was noticed by his peers, and landed on the charred remains of the temple, scale once more becoming leather. He hopped down the smoldering columns of stone, until he stood where the entrance once welcomed visitors. Before him he could see the Guardian of Earth, how he knew it was her, he didn't know, but something deep inside recognized the power that he followed. Earth never bowed before any element besides Ice, and he respected that. "You don't need to call so loud, its not like we can't hear you." He muttered, driving a finger into his now humanoid ear, and wiggling it around before flicking ear wax away. "I'm Adenon, your humble follower." He said with a bow. |

Lately it seemed that the weather had been notable odd, in his mountain home peaks that had been encased in ice all his life were melting and growing a covering of grass, while rivers that had over flown with the spring thaw each year were drying up. Yet the many concerns he held over these strange occurrences paled in comparison to the one he felt towards the aura of unease had been slowly growing around the guardian for some time now. And when nothing within Kael's power had seemed to have any effect towards lifting her burden, he'd withdrawn to the side and silently watched. She should know that if she ever the need he'd be by her side, where he belonged, in an instance. For that reason, ever since Alezra left the earth's shrine at the oasis, a tiger would always be seen following in the chimera's shadow. When she'd reached the first of what Kael now knew to be a former elemental shrine, he'd sunk back into the surroundings to hunt what little food he could find the both of them without loosing perception of the guardian. After all, what ever reason had brought her here had to do with the guardians and as such he couldn't help her. But that didn't mean he'd leave he unprotected, needed or not, for no matter how he looked at this place it put him on edge and told every instinct he held that something was wrong here. So it was with great relief when he at last followed her out of those dead woods. But this relief was all too short lived as before long her journey at last lead her to this smoke covered land. Where at that moment Alezra alone was approaching one of a number of apparently bottomless pits. To his shame Kael could follow any closer that a stones throw, as even here the fumes venting from the pits seared his nose and left his eyes watering uncontrollably. It was from his place, as close as his body would allow for a length of time, that Kael answered the guardian's call immediately putting his all into a single drawn out roar. I'm here for you, as always. From that initial call, further answer were soon followed. The first? A dragon... had to be a dragon. His silver scales seamed to catch and reflect the burnt out land around him, giving him a sort of majestic look as he came into land. His shift to human form came as little surprise to the tiger, shape shifting was a surprisingly commonplace event in his life, but it still fascinated him as how they could manage to merge their cloths into their form. When his initial introduction was complete Kael had to make a conscious effort not to bear his fangs it him, for some reason the dragon had struck a cord on Kael, but he'd endure it, Alezra had called out for a reason, he wouldn't do anything to jeopardise that. Instead he stayed where he lied on all fours watching closely and waiting to see what would happen next. |

Bringer of Your Judgement
|
It had begun as light tremors of the world's magic. Small whispers here and there. Perhaps an inkling every now and again. But then, the voice of the Earth began to grow and build until it reached a mighty crescendo that Sidarthas Monotheril nor his dragon companion Kenji the Jack of Blades could ignore any longer. During the three years in which Sid was dead and buried in the ground as Kioku the Mad Goddess waged her war upon Avalon, three of the four Guardians had disappeared, either killed or stripped of their powers by one thing or another. Many said that the Goddess herself tore them to shreds when they tried to stop her conquest. Water, Fire, and Wind were gone, their guardians wiped from the face of the Earth. In its place, chaos and turmoil of their former charges built and grew until the natural order of the world was almost non-existent in of itself. It was then that Kenji recieved a vision from the one remaining Guardian, Alezra of the Earth. It detailed her own quest to discover what exactly was amiss in the elements and her efforts to repair the damage. But how were you capable of communing with her, inquired the Paladin to his dragon, drawing upon their psychic link that was natural between a dragon and his rider, Didn't you say she was reaching out to her Followers? I am a Black Earth-Dragon of Elune, Sid, replied the reptillian as they soared through the air over the Straits of Fincayra from the mainland of Avalon itself. The vision had called Kenji to the elven island-kingdom off of Avalon's coast. Even if we are not official followers, we are all attuned in a way to the element of Earth as well as Fire, as well as their subsequent Guardians. I sensed the passing of the Fire Guardian some years ago, but it seems that the repercussions of such an atrocity are only emerging now. Alezra is the last of the Guardians. We must help her, Sid, if this world is to continue. I know, but this headwind is time-consuming, growled Sid in retort. They had been travelling against an air current this whole journey, pushing against the rushing wind which drew back severely from their travelling time, preventing them from a rendeavous with the Earth Guardian. However, as Sid continued to drive Kenji against the wind, it seemed to cease altogether, and then abruptly change course, back to the original direction the jetstream had been going before. It seemed that the situation was deteriorating more than Sid had imagined, and the two renewed their effort to join Alezra. It was some hours before the dragon and his rider caught sight of the giant blackened crater that was once the sight of the Guardian of Fire's temple. Before them, Sid sensed the powerful presence of Alezra, the Guardian of the Earth. Though she appeared to be as young as his sister Rika, Sid could see through the guise, his Truesight undeceived. Beneath her facade lay the Chimera that she truly was, wielding power that put Sid's own considerable power to shame. Kenji circled a couple of times to draw down his flying speed, and then Sid eased his dragon into a gentle landing next to the three comrades, it seemed. The large silver dragon, whose size was a rough equivalent to Kenji's own, give or take a few inches and a few pounds between the both of them, and a man who lurked behind Alezra that seemed so familiar to Sid..... It was Kael! Sid had not seen his old friend since the weretiger aided the Paladin in recovering his dragon, who'd taken residence in the Cloudsweep Peaks during Sid's time in the Void. It was interesting, though not surprising, to see that the call had reached the weretiger. He always seemed to know when something was wrong in the world. "Hail, old friend", greeted Sid, raising his hand in greeting to the weretiger before quickly dismounting and removing Chrysamere, his holy blade, from its holster in Kenji's saddle and setting the baldric upon his chest to leave his sword sheathed on his back, the hilt portruding above Sid's right shoulder. He made a professional stride toward Alezra, and then introduced himself. Afterward, he took a knee before the mighty being. "I greet you, Guardian of Earth", he'd said before paying his respects, "I am Sidarthas Monotheril, Paladin of the Northern Order. My dragon received your summons, and so we have come to lend our assistance in your quest to right the imbalance in the elements." Edited by Sidarthas Monotheril, Mar 10 2009, 11:50 AM.

Endlessly ♥
|
{I know it says you're gonna add more Sid, but I think I left enough openings in my post for yours to conclude. So, hopefully it'll all still make sense :P If not, I'll gladly edit.} It had started just like any other day: no true destination to her wanderings, allowing her feet to move on their own, and rest when they decided that the scenery was sufficient. It was rare when she actually had an objective in her travels, whether it be place or person, more often than not something that would satiate her never-ending hunger for knowledge. The unusual thing was, she had been here before. Usually, the hybrid disliked visiting the same place unless it held some sort of benefit, feeling that repeat encounters only slowed down her side-quest of mapping out the whole of the world through experience rather than coin. Anyone could buy a map, but it took a true adventurer to house the will to draw it themselves. With no residential areas for an undetermined distance, Siantos was decided to be her place of lodging for the night. It wouldn't be a complete repeat she supposed, for even if that area had been what drew her here the first time, no visit to the city was actually made. Instead, carelessness had caused her to take a horrendous fall, winding up in some strange place that she could only refer to as 'hell.' Ronin still wasn't sure how she'd gotten out alive back then, for the memories were extremely hazy to her. Perhaps though, it was an event best left forgotten. Growing weary, she decided to rest. A foolish decision in the eyes of many, as hungry drakes ruled the skies, and she had taken no shelter. More likely than not, she'd grown overconfident. Foolish, childish mistakes! Should any of those beasts hold fire breath, death would greet her with its agonizing embrace. Luck had remained on the half-breed's side for the time being, not a single abomination disturbing the female, and allowing her to rest and eat in peace. A sigh slowly left her, the stormy eyes of the spell-caster panning lazily to the sky. She'd expected her predator free moment to continue, but was not graced with such generosity. Across the endless cloud scattered plain, a dragon flew, shrieking of death and other things the young silver would rather not dwell upon. Letting a startled yelp, she hurried to her feet, fearing that she may become the beasts after-dinner snack. With adrenaline and the desire to stay alive fulling her with unnatural speed, it took only a few short seconds for the white-haired maiden to dive under the safety of strategically fallen rocks. Shaky breaths had been the only way for Ronin to fill her body once more with the oxygen she had lost, the staccato of her pulse slowly returning to a normal rate as the beasts figure vanished over the horizon. Shutting her eyes with relief, the female slowly dropped to her knees. It was then that the earth trembled. She was on her feet swifter than she'd even willed the action to happen, rocking unsteadily for a moment before stumbling from her hiding place. The formation was surely unstable, and no sooner than she'd fled to safety had her assumptions been proven true. The slabs of granite crumbled upon themselves, plumes of smoke and dust rising in their wake. While she should have been counting her blessings, the unnatural quake beneath her feet left her mind unsettled. '... What.... was that...?' While the Guardians of Avalon had not been something she'd followed - all magic and element deserved equal respect in her eyes - she knew well of their purpose and power. Why then, had the keeper of Gaia's might allowed such a tremor to pass? There must have been good reason, and it was this reason that made her horrendously inquisitive. Unfortunately for her, not all questions had answers, and it was impossible for her to know where to begin. She knew of no Shrines, and knew the location of no followers. Though perhaps she was going into this far too deeply. One earthquake didn't mean complete chaos, did it? No... but tendrils of magical energy didn't just pull at her essence for no reason, either. Slowly, her brows knit together; a visual expression of the turmoil she felt within the core of her being. Being a creature of natural magics made these wisps of energy impossible to ignore, as if they'd manifested into snakes and threatened to squeeze the life from her if she didn't fight back. Even if there turned out to be nothing she could do in the end, Ronin knew that her soul couldn't be put at ease until she knew what was causing this disturbance. Her head tipped up, eyes half-lidded as if the magic held some kind of heavenly scent that she couldn't help but indulge in. It would take a good deal of concentration and careful searching, but no challenge was so impossible that it would kill a dragons will. The terrain was unforgiving at best. High cliffs and rocky lands, coupled with a sulfur-laced atmosphere made the trek a painful one. At one point she'd taken to flight, shaping the wings on her back to speed up the traveling process. There was a benefit to this, aside from the speed; tapping into the draconic blood allowed for easier detection of these magical tendrils. They seemed almost tangible now, seen faintly in her minds eye as wispy threads of jade. Finally, her venture seemed to come to its end as the hybrid finally peeked her last cliff. Staring wide-eyed, the mercury wings merged into her shoulders, becoming one with the halfbreed yet again. The sky was black with smoke, and simply touching the ground here seemed to make her bones ache; nature itself had been poisoned. A great, scorched crater was what her eyes now set upon, and standing before it, a small party. Though she was still too far away to make out faces, at least one appeared to be a quadruped, and another simply screamed of magical essence - so much that Ronin nearly recoiled. 'That's her.' Perhaps it was the feel of magic that gave it away, or it may have been the sorrow within it. Whatever it was, it had all started to make sense. Earth had mourned, and her tears had drawn her here. These people surrounding her must have heeded her call as well, though it had likely been her voice calling to them, and not just the magic the Guardian released. But, now the hybrid had encountered a problem. As she wasn't really invited to this gathering, would her attendance be frowned upon, or would they simply be grateful for the additional hand? Hesitance. A serious expression had covered the pretty facade, but simply remaining in the shadows observing was no better than ignoring the Guardian's pain all together... The answer became obvious. With a deep breath and silent wish for good results, Ronin jumped from her resting place. Her person came to land with a dull thud, light puffs of loose soil wafting upward at the sudden impact of her feet. Standing fully, she cautiously approached, lest the followers be over protective. "Pardon the intrusion..." she spoke softly, "but your pleas are hard to ignore." Giving a soft smile, she bowed respectfully. "My name is Ronin. If there's anything I can do to help... please don't hesitate to ask." |

Just breath...
|
Fina’s time in Avalon thus far had been a pleasant one, most of his young life lead under the false excitement that adventure, strife and war brought. He’d been an orphan as a child, and knew nothing of his true demonic roots. As such, he’d grow up a ruffian, wasting his magical talent away for the path of the fists. As he grew, the sword was adopted, and for the most part up until now, he’d spend his life as a well off mercenary. His jobs were never too easy, but he always found a way to get them fun. However, as of recently, several alarming discoveries would have him rethinking his life goals, his unleashed pyromania and his overall dominion and affinity for magic making him think twice about his true essence. No definite answers were found yet, but as he threw himself deeper and deeper into the heavy mysticism choking at the very earth he walked on, more and more latent talent and potential was unlocked. Each new discovery came with greater threats, but once overcome, the payoff would make all the efforts, good or bad, well worth it. Yet even after his grand display of magical prowess, he still doubts the many deities and self-proclaimed ‘higher beings’, not for the sake of insolence, but merely because of the fear for the unknown. Had he been his former self of years before, not a single guardian or other higher power would even make it to his list of considered friends. Now however, he stood related to a few key entities, preaching their belief of a neutral earth devoid of unnecessary strife at the hands of tyranny and greed. Given his recent shortcomings with a few deities and key figures, his faith in the celestial has slowly been restored, prompting him to carry out tasks deemed otherwise as crazy. This was one of them. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he stood atop an abandoned dune, hours passed since his last calling was felt by Alezra. He’d begun his search as soon as he heard her voice, but with the vagueness of her words, he’d have a bit of difficulty during his first half. This place…so barren…I can feel the negativity! As he hopped off, he’d contemplate the little earth guardian’s words. Being a rather new follower, he had yet to accustomed himself to her calling, adding to the difficulty of deciphering her messages. Though sporadic, he’d eventually get a gist of the location, his impressive navigational skills bringing him forth to an undisclosed location in the lost lands. After some searching, the attraction would result in a particularly foreboding area, with the shadows of many figures dancing across the walls. Throughout his time spent trekking he’d spotted no one, weeks gone by without a human soul to touch. However, now, in the deepest of holes, he’d find a seemingly joyous gathering; was he going mad!? Only one way to find out… After a brief pause, he’d approach. |

For Kael these volcanic lands were too hot for him, and that was before taking into account the fur coat, adept in keeping out the worse a mountain blizzard could throw, that covered his entirety in this form. But no matter his discomfort he had no intent of leave Alezra's presence. Thankfully during the frequent time Kael'd spent with the guardian in and around her shrine he'd long learn the best method to deal with the unbearable temperature. Setting he fur on end, Kael released a pulse of magic outwards chilling the air caught within the strands of fur, allowing the fur to settle slowly as the temperature build up once more. This cycle had been repeating itself since entering the area, and continued up till the arrival of the second addition. The familiar sound of oversized wing beats caught Kael attention well before he reluctantly remove he watchful gaze from Alezra, and even then it was only for long enough to watch it land. If it weren't for the rush of air caused by the wings a long groan would have been clearly heard. Not another one. It didn't matter that Kael recognised this dragon and it's rider, he simply never felt comfortable around the giant lizards, though no one other than his mate knew this nor knew Kael well enough to detect the subtle signs of discomfort from being near them. As it was Kael simply greeted the paladin with a gentle roar before diverting his attention elsewhere. It really was better not looking at the dragons. As a result Kael was probably the first to pick out the lone figure overlooking the gathering, moments before she jumped. With her long hair trailing behind her during the short fall, it was clear she would be considered a great beauty by many, despite the groan Kael'd have given if the sulphur in the air wasn't overpowering his sense of smell. But that wasn't his reason for studying her so intently. All that Kael cared to know about her was if she was to be considered a threat or not. Her seemingly nervous appearance put the overprotective tiger at enough ease to let her pass, while her polite and soft introduction set aside any further doubts. The final arrival wasn't so lucky. The rustle of feat upon ash and dirt picked at Kael's senses, while this sight he saw upon acting on them picked at his memory. Where have I seen him before? As the person's second step disturbed the ground, the events surround their last encounter flashed back to the lycan. What ever happened, he would not allow this former enemy any closer to Alezra. Pushing off from the ground at a speed remarkable for a create of his size, previously at rest, Kael closed the distance in three powerful bounds, skidding to a stop no less than three metres away from Fina, directly between him and Alezra. Sinking low on his forepaws, fur on end and claws fully extended digging into the earth, Kael let out a single fearsome roar of defiance and challenge. Kael was prepared to close the remaining gap in a single pounce and rend the flesh from his bone if he made a single false move. If worse came to worse, he'd hold the threat at bay as long as he could giving Alezra the chance to ran and hid, but where one would hide when a bright pink neon sign that read Guardian floating above them was anyone's guess. The Earth will shake.
|
So many had heeded her call, she really had not expected so many. However, there would be many more needed to solve this problem hat had developed in Avalon. Alezra knew that elsewhere, in more places than she could be at once, there were those who would be forced to fend for themselves for the time being. In truth even she did not know what to do, short of awaiting the spirits to instate new guardians to bring the other elements into check. But the world could no longer wait any longer for that to happen. Who knew how much longer it would be until appropriate people were born and ready for the task? This was not the time for drawn out introductions and glorified speeches. So the chimera would only give the briefest of cordial nods in response to the words spoken by men and dragons and all else. "Thank you." Was her brief reply, a sweeping statement to all their words. Green gaze would blur briefly until a hand rose to swipe the tears away. She was glad that they were here, regardless of how they'd found her. All that mattered was that there were ate least some people willing to do what they could for their world. Not even the guardian was immune to the sulfuric haze surrounding this place. As she rubbed the last tears from her eyes, she inhaled slightly as she finally grew accustomed to the atmosphere. "Kael!" She quickly stepped forward, uncertain as to why the weretiger may be so protective but needed to stop any confrontation regardless. "Stop stop. OK? Fina is follower too." Moving to stand between them, she would crouch before the feline form of her mate before dropping a hand to his forehead. "No fight, yes? Bad time for fight, ok?" |

Living Leviathan
|
The Silver dragon stood in the full heat of the smoldering wreckage that was the former Guardian of Fire's temple. "Same thing happened to Black Beards.." He stated, rather nonchalantly as he kicked over a couple of larger stones. He turned when the guardian thanked them all for coming. To say Adenon was avoiding the group was well enough established. To many dragons, it made him uneasy. He was a dragon, part of a vast clan of dragons, or he was adopted by one he supposed, but being around so many even a half dragon, in such a close proximity was annoying. He turned away again and began shifting through the rubble. So many ice or water users. Did no one branch out anymore, sure there was a Paladin that had flown in on nothing more than an overgrown hatchling, but still, it was another dragon. Adenon rolled his shoulder, trying to ignore the burning sensation beneath, while his cloak protected him from the heat outside, and his inner power kept him nice and chilly on the inside. "Gee, no one help the guy who's actually looking.." He groaned under his breath as he heaved a column out of his way. With a growl Adenon climbed out of the crater, dusting his hands off and growling. "Well, if we're all quite settled here, I think you have enough people flooding to your call." He said as he stood beside the Guardian and her Tiger mate. "From the feel of it, you've got enough ice and water users here to do the job at this place. So, do you really need another set of hands?" Adenon asked, crossing his arms, and keeping his hood pulled low over his face, hiding the hidden battle between his conscious mind and the beast that lurked in his instincts. |

Just breath...
|
The heat of the land was barbaric, pits of lava and sulfur raging all around, oozing slowly and spilling forth its essence without regard for life around it. It had been this negative attitude that had presumably left these lands devoid of any in the first place, only an evil aura emitted from the flames remaining to power and motivated any remaining activity within these forgotten lands. Fina knew not what this place once was, but judging from the ruins spotted upon his earlier trekking, and the occasionally discovery of different discarded pieces of monuments and such, he’d deduce a series of edifices stood here some time ago. Perhaps during the old wars? It was possible. As seasoned a traveler as he was in this world, he was but a baby swimming through the stream of time, his life but a second to that of the gods. This notion was proven many times over during his raging adventures, some of the locales visited and championed carrying extant locations and crash sights well over millions of years old. It would seem that in this world, to truly retain one’s place within the annals of history, a bit more than just heroics would be required. But where others – weaker ones, for certain! – found distaste and pain from such environment, the demon would playfully bask, standing taller than most in the choking heat. Given his will of fire and overall fiery disposition, he’d welcome these conditions, each increase in heat pushing him one step closer to letting loose the true flames that remained unequaled within. However, all would be put aside at the recognition of the camp, as well as the appearance of some unknown cat fiend bursting forth in a violent fashion. Being a follower of the Earth Guardian, he'd have no problem in locating her essence, which would reek over the entire area, and with a peak, he’d catch her small frame in between the masses. Although he’d be compelled to wave, it seemed he’d need to deal with the charging fiend first. He’d be unsure just what exactly its problem would be, given this was an obvious meeting of ‘comrades’ called for a higher cause. Any entity of bellow average intellect could deduce Fina’s non-aggressive approach was a sign he belonged within the meeting’s confines, but unfortunately, the demon would not be lucky enough to encounter such simple minded logic. Sighing, he’d prepare to deal with the foe swiftly, a series of quick counter measures deduced as soon as the charging thread began its hoping. Heyyyy...I’ve seen you before… Though the tiger appeared strange at first, his demonic vision would activate to reveal the witchcraft employed, an apparent transformation spell masking the male’s human visage. His odd face would be instantly recollected, as he had found him not too long ago for a classic duel; what a pain. Another sigh coming forth, the cat’s second hop would succeed now, and while its charge had indeed been mighty, it would not compare to the demon’s wit. Given the nature of the location, lava, flames and the heat it emitted could be found all around, making Fina’s pyrokinesis an easy feet. Though the little Guardian would attempt to quell all matters, the demon’s playful demeanor would nonetheless seek some satisfaction now that it was aroused. A single flick of his wrist for show purposes would summon a splash of lava from a nearby pool, shot from the direction of the tiger’s back. It would come to it at rapid speeds, shot when its focus was most intent on crushing the demon and avoiding the Guardian’s wrath. It’d by no means harm it seriously in any way, but given its extreme temperature and the creature’s overall disposition to all things hot, it’d most likely calm its violent nature forcefully. A few idle words were whispered to the snarling cat upon his loose passing. “Listen to mommy now, or else you'll get bitten…” Regardless of whether or not the lava actually connected, Fina would move towards his true destination, sighing visibly as he neared the gathering, appearing relaxed despite the recent altercation. A brief bow was given to the little Guardian, and once he was acknowledged, a brief conversation would be attempted. Once done, he'd look around. Many unknown faces had been spotted amongst the sturdy litter, but it would seem he was not completely alone; Ronin, as always, would be nearby. A grin worn, he’d trot to her side, a soft wave shot her way as he came over. |

Bringer of Your Judgement
|
So the little group gathered on the remains of the Fire Shrine grew, this time to include a half-dragon and a demon that seemed to have a past with Kael, judging by the weretiger's very hostile response to the arrival of the demon. Sid scratched his chin thoughtfully as he casually made his way over to Kael, an old friend and ally. Drawing up beside the weretiger, Sid nudged the lycan with his elbow and patted his old friend on the head. "It would seem that you have a history with the demon", spoke Sid, jerking his head to indicate the demon, who was digging for something alongside the silver dragon, "Whatever happened between you two?" Sid was curious as to what exactly could be done to piss someone like Kael off to the point that he would practically jump in your face and roar like that. Sid had no enmity toward the demon, for he knew that not all demons were evil bastards, but generally if Kael didn't like you, neither would Sid. However, Sid would stay his own hand and listen to others' opinions before doing something. Kael, afterall, had a tendency to be highly suspicious of things, whereas Sid was more laid-back and would simply keep tabs on the people around him by probing their minds with his keen psychic power. He did so with Kael, stretching his mind past the surface of the weretiger to see if he could communicate with the humanoid's mind within. There always was the possibility, however, that Kael's tiger form would render his mind down to the basic emotions and urges of the animal kingdom, thus making communication, even mentally, impossible. Sid had hopes that this wouldn't be true, but he wouldn't hold his breath. Edited by Sidarthas Monotheril, Mar 22 2009, 11:39 AM.

Endlessly ♥

This was certainly a lot more commotion than she expected. She assumed her approach had been welcomed at first, receiving no hostile reactions when her person had been seen. Next she knew, the tiger had leapt up, dashing forward and roaring with such ferocity that she feared some kind of foul beast may have been attracted to their location. Of course, such hostility didn't come from nowhere, and being the ever curious creature that she was, Ronin's head turned to see what had caused it. 'Fina!?' Sure enough, long-time companions had once again crossed paths, though in all truth, she hadn't expected one with such an unpredictable and battle-driven personality to allow himself to be led... though perhaps that only supported the first detail that made the quirky swordsman she knew today. 'Small world.' The threats of the tiger - 'Kael' he'd been called - were requested to cease, the young looking beacon of magic soothing the enraged being with a few soft words and gentle pat on the head. And should the sparks of aggression gone unattended, it most likely would have died then and there. Unfortunately, the white haired male couldn't let the matter go without a smartass comment and one last stab to the feline's pride. Or... burn, in this case. Quite literally. A quick manipulation of flame based magic had caused a small droplet of magma to splash from its pool, directly toward the large cat's hide. She visibly flinched, looking away before witnessing any kind of impact, should it occur. Just the thought of having something so painful spatter upon the flesh was enough to cause her skin to ache... or perhaps that was just the natural heat the environment had dropped on her shoulders. With that thought, her hand lifted, wiping away the small bit of condensation that had formed above her brow. If nothing else, at least her clothing was cool. Her hand had taken to a repetitive fanning motion, trying to get some cooler air to move towards her face. Primitive methods were quickly replaced for more effective magical tricks, a steady flow of energy swirling directly around her, dropping the temperature down to a comfortable - at least in her opinion - fifty degrees Fahrenheit. Even though the terrain and weather conditions were brutal towards the hybrid's body, no grin given could go unreturned, and as Fina approached, her own welcoming wave was given. "Fancy meeting you here," she said happily. No doubt the male's flame obsession had him feeling chipper in this heat, while the dragon couldn't wait to get out of it. Magic made it tolerable, but just barely. Unfortunately, she couldn't move on with her life until she figured out what exactly they were looking for. "... Though I don't really know what for." Curiosity had tempted her to move further into the pit, but she feared the heat may get the better of her. Grumbled voices and irritated words spoke of crowds and unnecessary numbers, all courtesy of a cloaked individual who's face was a bit hard to distinguish. She quirked a brow, but remained silent. No commands had been given to her yet; she couldn't very well help if she had no clue what needed to be done, now could she? The same individual had claimed he was 'looking' but for what? Though Ronin had kept her distance, no enhanced vision was necessary to tell her that, if anything worth finding had been in that blast radius, it had surely crumbled to ash by now. |

Whiter than Ice
|
Things were going to the shits. He had left his temple in the guard of others and sought to find the problem. His land, that surrounding his temple, had been torn to shreds by a violent earth quake. While he wasn't to much up to date on things, he knew there was only guardian. And if he knew correctly, the guardians helped keep everything balanced. So, he could only wonder what was going on. A certain Guardian, of the Earth, had called for others to help her. It was a long journey, but one he wouldn't mind. He wouldn't stand by while similar natural disasters quaked and shook the Lands to the ground. He didn't mind the boat ride from Avalon to Fincayra and the boat he was on even passed by the Isle of Valescovia. What he did mind, was the boiling heat surrounding the gathering place. If there was one thing that God wasn't accustomed, it would have to be heat. In Valescovia, it remained cool all year round, only getting slightly humid in the summer months. Quite comfortable. It didn't even get this hot near an open flame. But then again. he was surrounded by an expansive field of lava that boiled and bubbled. What made it really unbearable was the armor. He realized that he was still human. If he had been of another race, the chain mail would have been enough. But, for a reason, he brought along the plate. Mainly because this was most likely to not be a peaceful venture. It was going to be fraught with something and that something, as it is often times with quests, was going to either be gigantic beasties with huge weapons or dangerous terrain. He had a lot of time to think on his way to walking their. A little too much time. He often contemplated turning around and leaving. He was no coward. But he wasn't a very motivated man right now. After about the first week of travel, he was worn. He had hardly slept seven hours, about an hour a night. Dark bags formed under his eyes and they went blood shot. Or so those passing told him. He was often stared at. A little boy on the voyage had bucked up one day and asked him if he was an undead. He was so aggravated at the moment that he could have de-headed the little bugger. He caught his hand and continued his most uneventful and bothersome journey. When he arrived at the shine of Fire, there was something wrong. It seemed... desolate, as if the land wanted to swallow up all of those who stood around and upon it's ground. It truly was a dead place. It gave him the creeps walking through it. He finally arrived. The only person he really recognized would have been Sid and his dragon, who he had seen earlier. "I apologize Guardian. I have arrived late. As usual." |

Living Leviathan

Adenon stood, poised to leave at any moment. How the powerful flocked together when it might be to late. A collection of wanna-be heroes to save the day in the nick of time. All gathering because of the call of a Guardian. He wasn't much better, but rather than gather and pick fights, he was going to work. Even now, here in this lava scorched, smoke filled land he could feel the ground quake miles below. The demon wanted to play with the weretiger, throwing melted rock like a school yard bully, while the Guardian squated placing her hand on the ice users head like a trained pet and whispered sweet nothings. This was getting no where and quickly. No one knew how long the world would last at this rate, but it seemed they all wanted to go out in a party style. He turned his molten silver eyes on one of the other females of the group. The smell of rain washing off of her even in the heat was more than enough to tell him one of his own kind, even if she was only half. Its been a while since I've felt the presence of another of my kind. he mused to himself, remembering the conversation he had with the King of Dragons not all that long ago. So some of his kind still was around, fleeting about in their human disguises as he did. He supposed he wasn't as different from them, even if he had been forced to hide who he really was on pain of death from his own tribe. He found the rest of the group bothersome as he pulled the cloak's hood down further over his face, hiding his markings and eyes from the other silver. Best to finish the job and get out before they know who I really am. He moved back to the crater, watching the molten rock boil and bubble so far below. A chunk from one of the ancient pillars snapped and slid into the goo, bobbing for just a moment before being sucked into the depths. His eyes narrowed as the beast roared inside of his very soul. "Silence. Now is not the time for you." Adenon said to himself as he placed a hand on the side of the crater and hopped down, landing on a floating chunk of debris that seemed to be withstanding the heat and pressure quite well. He could only assume this had been part of the original Temple of Fire. "Such an untrustworthy ally." He muttered as he squatted down, not worried about his cloak which dipped into the molten rock. When he had been fighting Sujin his powers had given out. He wasn't sure if this was due to his connection to the planet as a dragon, or something to do with his powers and his own inner struggle. Holding open a hand, palm down, he lowered it to just above the pool of lava and released the ice power contained within. Steam erupted into his face, causing him to nearly stumble backwards. "Gods damn it all." He groaned, standing back up and stretching his back. His powers still werent working, and that fact only caused the inner beast to rage more, longing to tear itself free and disappear into the waves beyond the shore. Adenon turned, looking back up the side of the crater to the group that had gathered. Fire users, ice users, a Guardian and a God. It didn't take any certain spell to feel the power rolling off the group. Adenon leaned on his right leg and crossed his arms lowering his head in thought. Was it the missing Guardians that could be causing this havoc, or the rate of powerful beings sprouting up across the world, each seemingly more deadly than the last. A wind swept up through the crater propelled by the heat of the lava, its sweltering power caused him to go dizzy and he shook his head. Either way, it seems as though we could all die here at any minute. This isn't a temple, or a tomb, its a volcano. He dusted himself off sat on the small stone island floating in the middle of the magma lagoon. Let them banter, and have their wit, and hold each other for the last time. Death was coming, and Kaliyah was a harsh mistress to those who fell in her domain. |

Surprisingly Alezra's approach to not draw his piercing gaze from Fina, to Kael he was a threat he couldn't permit to go unchecked. Even with the guardian they both followed stepping between them and ordering a stop, Kael did not stand down only shifting his weight so not to have his line of site broken. Such an uncharacteristic refusal to act upon his mate's words, that much alone clear indication as to his level of distrust towards the other apparent follower, lasted only a few seconds till his will power gave slightly under her hand. "No fight, yes? Bad time for fight, ok?" Reluctantly Kael straitened, allowing his fur to settle and his claws to relax, but still refused to shift his gaze. Luckily this final hint of disobedience proved fortunate. As even on all fours Kael proved tall enough to spy, over the top of the crouching guardian, the subtle movement of the fire wielder directing his magic. Diverting his stare for the first time since Fina's arrival, it took only a moment to notice attack. A moment later a blast of his own innate magic intercepted, cooling and solidifying the molten missile and catching the remaining stone in a wave of ice near as big as Kael. The latter effect had been unintentional and considering the dry air and surrounding heat was quite a feat. None the less as the misted glaze faded from Kael's eyes he dismissed it as nothing more than his emotions loosening his finer grip on his magic as at time happened when he got worked up. More often then he'd like to admit, especially in resent days. “Listen to mommy now, or else you'll get bitten…” That accompanying taunt had irritated Kael but this time he didn't rise to the bait. Instead he offered it no more of a reply than a short snort before purposely stepping between his mate and the demon, brushing close against Alezra as he circled around her to face the others. It was clear to those watching that the tiger wished for the guardian to move away from the other and in an effort to draw her attention away Kael addressed her in a short series of sounds a subtle movements that made up the feline tongue. "They come for you. Tell why, good?" It was an overly simple language, if what animals communicated in could be called such, lacking may common terms and grammar made it only able to carry the simple ideas and needs of its intended users. When Sid moved in beside Kael and talked an unknown conciseness intruded into Kael's mind, incurring a sudden and reflexive discharge of a shiver spell along the mental link. Distracted by the further greeting Fina ran off to give it took a couple of seconds until noted the source of the mental invasion. Cutting off the defence Kael gave a clear shake of his feline head towards Sid. No matter how he thought of another he'd rather they didn't go sifting though his thoughts both because of the number of potentially dangerous things he knew and for their own safely, to date there'd been many lycans who's minds had been completely overridden but their animalistic nature and there was no guaranty that it couldn't do the same to any other mind that touched to it. |
