"Where's my beer? I told you to get it for me. I wasn't playing with you when I said 'go get me a beer.'" Kali heard a man arguing with someone from inside the weapons box. He had climbed in when no-one was aboard the ship after he heard that they were going to try to find another land. Kali shifted around slowly, stretching his legs and trying not to make any noise. He had been in the box for days. Although he had came out about three times in search of food and for the bathroom, no-one aboard the ship knew he was there. "Here you are, Captain." "It's about damn time." Kali supposed that the captain, Captain Morgan, was standing over the box and drinking. His stomach started growling, indicating it was time that he left the box again to find food. Kali heard footsteps in decrescendo, and waited for the footsteps to be inaudiable before slowly lifting the lid. Nobody was in sight. Slowly but quietly, Kali climbed out of the box and headed stealthily for the holds, avoiding contact with the crewmembers. In the kitchen, Kali found some bread, a little cheese, and a half-drunk bottle of clean water. Quickly, he snatched up his bounty and headed back for the box, almost dropping the cheese on the stairs. Once on deck, he heard footsteps behind him and ran to the open box, scrambling in and closing the lid. He ate greedily and drank deeply from the bottle. "Did you hear that? I think someone was up here." "Naw, I didn't hear anything." "Ah, well. Must have been the deck creaking or something..." Kali breathed a sigh of relief and continued eating. "Land, ho!" Kali heard a thunder of footsteps on deck and voices. Land was finally within sight. His heart fluttered in his chest. Kali was going to see a place that no-one had seen before! Careful not to make any noise, Kali finished his food and went to sleep. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When he woke up, he didn't hear any sounds on the ship. He slowly, carefully, lifted the lid of the box he was hiding in and peered around. No-one was in sight. Kali climbed out of the box and looked around. The ship was docked just of the coast of an island, covered with a lush forest. He got off the ship and looked around. The sound of exotic birds filled the air. The very air was sticky with moisture. He walked cautiously across the beach and into the forest, where he heard the crew and captain laughing and joking around, oblivious of his presence. Kali found a big rock and sat on it, looking out to the sea, listening to the waves crash on the beach. Suddenly the sailor had the feeling that he was being watched. He jumped up and looked around frantically, his heart pounding. Nothing. All he saw was the tropical forest behind him, the beach around him, and the sea before him. Hesitantly, Kali sat back down, keeping a wary eye on his surroundings. (I'm not alone...) |

The sun was shining brightly, practically blinding her, but she didnt mind. The sea air was cool and fresh against her face . Ruby had come to one of her favourite places, she liked to sit here upon a rock and look out to sea - but to her surprise there was a boy already sitting upon it. But this was no ordinary child, firstly his appearence was striking, with his silvery blue hair, she hadnt had chance to see him from the front yet, and secondly because he'd already sensed that she was there. Well not wanting to frighten him, Ruby stepped out from the shadow of the tree's. "Whats your name boy? - And dont be frightened..I wont hurt you" Within a few paces she'd closed the distance between them. Lowering herself into a crouch beside him so she would be less intimidating, she smiled kindly and waited for a response. Edited by Ruby, Feb 12 2009, 07:39 AM.

Kali sat, gazing at the horizon, though not taking in any of its splendor. He was vigilant, and listening out for anything that might happen around him. He heard the rustling of the trees as the wind blew through them, and he had the nagging feeling that he was being watched. He refrained from jumping up a second time, or moving at all, for it may give away his fear. The person that was watching him may have malevolent intentions. He heard footsteps behind him. He turned as calmly as he could and was taken aback by what he saw. It was a beautiful woman, with long, golden hair and dangerous red eyes. (red eyes? demon!) Kali stood up and faced her, searching out all escape routes, but finding none; there was water to his back, a boulder blocking his quick escape to his left, and she could quite easily catch him if he ran to the right. He took slow steps back, slowly lowering his eyes to the ground. "Whats your name boy? - And dont be frightened..I wont hurt you." At first he couldn't answer, for his fear stopped his words in his throat. She closed the distance, and for the first time in his life, he felt someone else's power. Hers was like a white hot fire, a tempest that was controlled. She knelt before him, her eyes leveled with his, and he snapped his attention to her eyes. A caring smile spread across her face. (she doesn't want to hurt me she doesn't want to hurt me she doesn't want to hurt me) "K-Kali..." |

"Kali hmm?" The words rolled out smoothly, warmly. She smiled at the visibly shaken child. "I'm Ruby" Rising back up to her feet, she lightly ruffled his hair, before passing by him, seating herself where he'd just ben sat - yet she'd left enough room for him, should he dare to come a little closer. "So ... why are you up here alone then? - I dont suppose it has anything to do with a certain ship and its crew?" without looking at him, she smirked knowingly. Turning back to him, she patted the empty space beside her. "You can come closer - I dont bite" Ruby could be the most dangerous demon when tried, but she'd always had a soft spot for children, and reserved a gentleness only for them. Curse maternal instincts, the longer she'd been on earth the stronger it grew. But this boy was even more special than most. He like her, was different. |

"Kali, Hmm?" she said, sounding as if she already knew him. She had a warm smooth voice and a warm smile. Kali, instead of being wary, felt as if she wouldn't harm him. She ruffled his hair and took a seat on the edge of the rock he was on, leaving enough room for him to sit next to her. He decided against coming any closer to her, even though she did nothing to harm or scare him yet, as a precaution. (she still is a demon) "So why are you up here alone then?" she asked, looking out to sea. Kali tried to think of a fast lie; would she believe him if he said he was already on the island, just in hiding? "I don't suppose it has anything to do with a certain ship and its crew?" (how did she know?!) His eyes widened as a reaction, but she didn't seem to notice, so he tried to regain his composure before she did. Then she smirked. Did she see me get on the ship? he thought. He nodded when she turned back to him, lowering his eyes in defeat, but with a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. She must have seen me. "You can come closer; I don't bite," she said, beconing him. He hesitated, then took slow steps to her. "How did you know I was on the ship?" he asked, but he probably already knew the answer. Perhaps the food that was disappearing on board had become more and more obvious. To that end, he thought, I hope nobody else noticed the food coming up missing. He could imagine the heat he was going to catch from the captain for stealing food and stowing away on his ship. He tried not to think of it, seeing as the captain still doesn't know he was on the ship. (free ride home) |
