Lydia fought Darious hoping this was her last time, this time she was going to kill the bastard and be free of him forever. Kicking him in the chest she spun her katana around and aimed it at his chest ready to pin him to the ground like a moth in a bug collection. Darious looked up at her and smiled. He knew she wouldn't do it, she was unable to kill the only thing she had for guidance. He was all she had, without him she had no one to understand her. "You can't do it Lydia...your just a child my dear." "You want to bet your life on that statement?" She asked gripping the sword tighter and moved to strike him and end it. She would have done it but Darious must have figured that out just in time to land a kick to her stomach and send her back into his full length mirror. She felt her head slam up against the wall. She laid on the ground partly curled up as glass fell around her like rain and sharps stained lightly red. It was beautiful in a strange way. Slowly the world around her turned black as her eyes closed lightly watching the blurring image of Darious fade from her sight. It seemed she had only blinked by the time her eyes opened again to see large white flakes fall about her. They were not snow flakes, they looked more like cut up white feathers as they landed in her black curls. She clenched her hand shut feeling green grass under her fingers. This had alarmed her slightly since she had in fact been inside a house and was not outside. Panicking she stood up quickly and looked around at a foggy forest with frightening dead trees. Was she in hell, was she dead? Looking down at her hands she felt solid enough. Her fingers danced across the back of her head feeling no bump nor did any pain bother her. Turning around she saw a random full length mirror that made her jump. What in gods name was she wearing? Looking at her reflection she touched her face to see if this was real. Now before she had been thrown into the mirror she had been in her usual black outfit but now she was wearing this...crap. Her bangs were pulled back and tied up with a black bow as the rest of her hair laid over her pale thin shoulders. She was wearing thigh high white stockings with black dressy flat bottom shoes that buckled around her ankle. A powder blue dress fit tightly to her body, the skirt reaching down to the length of her knees. Around her waist was tied a white apron much like the one she had made Lily wear in order to keep her dress clean. The dress seemed to mirror the color of her eyes wonderfully, but at the same time it was not something she would like to wear. It was to revealing for her tastes. She was more of a closed book then someone who would show off her figure or body...intentionally. A few white pieces of feather laid lightly on her hair and carefully she pulled them off and let them drift to the ground with spins and twirled. Putting her hands out she nodded her head. Well it made sense that if being thrown into the mirror put her here then it would bring her back. This was the way things worked. With one quick motion she moved forward only to smack into the mirror and let out an ouf sound. A voice from behind her started to laugh as it spoke, "Hahaha, you can't go back that way...you silly little girl. Where do you think you are?" Lydia spun around reaching to her hip for a weapon only to find she didn't have any. "Who are you...where am I?" She replied still a little panicked. She looked the man over who stood leaning against a tree. He wore a red suite with a long tail coat and a black top hat. Black gloves covered his hands and he held onto a solid black cane with a Jackal head at the top. He had a goatee and a slight mustache much like one of those rich snobs that sit up in their big homes counting there gold all day. He tipped his hat and bowed slightly before leaning on his cane and replying, "I am Jackal." Lifting both hands he put them up by his sides and looked around dramatically, "And this is the place dreams are made..." Lydia started to laugh hysterically not believing a single word he said. "Well truly if this is some nightmare world MR. Jackal then who the hell do I get out?" "Ah now we ask the right questions. You have to talk to the Queen about that one...The Bloody Queen of Dreams. Best way to find her is break a law...then she will kill you, but she dose that even to the guests so there is no difference. Better her then that damn rabbit. He is a frightful one, best keep away from him." Lydia didn't seem to be following what he was saying and just turned back to the mirror to see a rippling image of Darious standing over her body. It appeared as if she was looking down into a bowl of water at the image and clenched her fists saying. "I am just asleep I will wake up soon enough." "I could help you if you would like my dear. Your choice. Either way you can tell yourself you are sleeping all you want and look at the mirror it will not do you any good." "Alright lead the way." He moved forward and waved his hand lightly, "Follow me my lady...to the end of the forest and beyond. Where towers and demons stand." Edited by Lydia, Jan 31 2009, 12:19 PM.

How did he get here? Just WHY was he here? And why was he so obessessed with this goddamn watch!? Sidarthas Monotheril, while journeying through the Mists, suddenly found both himself and his dragon, Kenji the Jack of Blades, swallowed by a rather large cloud of the condensed water. After some endless hours of flight, both he and his dragon tired out trying to find a resting spot, and then they both woke up here. Well, something of them woke up in this place. Sid, as he rose from the ground, found himself in a rather queer predicament. Chrysamere, his Holy Blade, was the only object of his he had carried over. His suit of magical armour: the Dragon's Skin, was gone. In its place was a rather weird outfit consisting of a top hat placed atop his head, a white dress-shirt upon his chest with black vest, a long black frock-coat, silken dress-pants, a pair of gray spats, and parlor shoes. Briefly probing about for Kenji's presence, Sid found it emanating from a small, round object resting in one of his vest-pockets, linked to a chain from a small pair of round spectacles upon his nose. "What the hell", he murmured, removing the glasses. However, his vision was completely blurred, with his eyes only seeing a few inches in front of his face without them. He put them back on and strapped Chrysamere to his side. Suddenly, he felt a compulsion to reach into his pocket and check the time(!). What the hell has come over me, he frantically thought as his hand withdrew the pocket-watch and checked the time. Emblazoned on the face, complete with a large and small wing indicating minutes and hours, respectively, was a spitting-image of his trusted dragon, whose consciousness now apparently resided within this weird metal contraption as well. Kenji maintained his psychic link with his master, and spoke to him via their connection. Before you ask, he grimly slithered in Sid's mind, I have no earthly idea where we are. However, I can say this: We're definitely not in Avalon anymore. Indeed, my friend, grumbled Sid, It would seem that we have quite an adventure ahead of us. Before the two stood a vast expanse of woods and forest, the branches waving in the wind as if enticing the two. Best get started, then, advised Kenji, and with that, Sid slung Chrysamere onto his shoulder and set off down a dirt path toward the brambles. |

Lydia had been following Jackal for some time now and it seemed they had not even moved forward yet the scenery changed. "Where are we even going?" Jackal leaped along scrapping his black cane along the ground and then swinging it around, "We my dear need to get to the Labyrinth which is rather far off from here...there is a swamp first but I will say a little more once we get there...no need to confuse you dear." Lydia looked around feeling slightly creped out as a raccoon climbed down out of thin air. This place didn't follow the rules of...normal, if ever normal was a real thing. She grabbed the sides of her skirt and looked down at hit letting out a sigh. She didn't want to complain at a time like this but she looked like a little girl in this dress. "Is there anything I can wear that dose not make me look like a child?" Jackal stopped and put a hand over her mouth, "Shhh, don't say that out loud my dear or you really shall end up being a child if you keep this up. The Queen can do anything to you with your imagination. Even give you the age to match your dress...besides I think your pretty. You even look kind of innocent." Lydia clenched her jaw tightly as he called her pretty. How she hated when men said that, she didn't care what crazy world they were from, she didn't like that word. They continued on as Jackal skipped happily not seeming to care about the dangers that could be around any corner, and the fact Lydia didn't have any weapon to defend herself with. In the corner of her eye she saw something shinny on the ground and stopped to pick it up. Tilting her head to the side she said out loud, "A silver key...what’s this for?" "Every key has a door...but not ever door has a key...better bring it with." He replied still moving ahead before he came to a sudden stop. "Shhh....do you hear that?" Lydia put the key in a pocket on her apron and then looked around. "What was what?" She asked a little worried. Picking up a branch from the ground she held it like a sword. "Well if this Queen can use my imagination to change things why can't I?" Looking at the branch she watched it slowly turn into a katana and smiled. "Ha, I did it." She continued with excitement. Slowly the sword started changing form again and reverted into a rose, the thorns longer then normal and cutting her fingers. She dropped it with a yelp and put a finger in her mouth to stop the bleeding. Jackal giggled a little and replied, "Ha...sure you did it...better be careful about changing things...its her word not your dear, she can change whatever you change. Thanks to that she will probably be looking for us now. " Lydia looked back up from the rose and pointed at a form in the distance, "Look Jackal its another man...he looks sort of lost." "Of course he is lost...who isn’t?" Lydia ran forward with excitement. She couldn't explain it but somehow she could feel this man was...real. Jackal was real and everything as well, but he just seemed more...made up as well. Holding onto the side of her powder blue skirt she yelled out in a kind tone, "Hello sir...hey over here." Jackal grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back a little, "Shh...what if he works...for Her?" "No...I think he is like me...I think it is alright." "Don't trust people here, you never know who is good or bad." "Then I shouldn't trust you." "But I am difrent...I really am good, and just trying to help you out...and that means keeping you alive." "Why?" "Because...I can..." |

They had been tracking him for the last three days. Grimlore had decided to just leave his clan, and they were none to happy with his decision. He turn left, and cut through the bramble and started heading through the forest. A fog had arose, which was strange for this time of year, but Grimlore was determined to get away from his clan. He could hear them calling to each other as they all moved through the fog. After what felt like hours of stumbling and feeling his way around, Grimlore could not hear them calling for each others. The fog finally lifted and Grimlore found himself standing in a clearing. Grimlore looked down at himself and found that the fog had changed him. He was... was.... human now. His tattoo and scars now danced upon dark skin. His dreadlocks where still there, but his lovely incisors, and clawed hands were now gone. Just at that moment he got an urge to chew on a few rocks to sharpen his teeth. He unconsciously leaned over to pick a few rock an found a white muslin shirt on the ground. He lifted the shirt and found, an axe and a sword under it. He had to find the being or beings that wielded this strange magic, and force them to change him back to himself. Grimlore put on the shirt and pick up both the axe and sword, and placed them on his belt. His clan had allowed him to use this weapons in combat, but never did he dream he would have such a well matched set for himself. With grim determination Grimlore headed in the direction that the path would lead. Edited by Grimlore, Feb 2 2009, 05:24 PM.

"Ho, travellers", called Sid when he heard the girl's summons from down in the wood, and he began to make his way to her, "How fares ye on this fine.....whatever day it is?" The girl before him was clad in a blue dress with an apron with a pair of stockings and black shoes. The man, he noticed, carried a jackal-headed staff clad in a similar garb Sid was in. He reached out with his consciousness and briefly probed the twos' minds, and found that they actually seemed real, unlike the dreamlike denizens that existed around them. The two seemed like he was, lost in this bizzare world. Shifting Chrysmere on his back, Sid suddenly felt another compulsion to look at his "watch" and check the time. Pulling it out, he checked the time to see the large wing pointing up and the smaller wing on Kenji's likeness pointing toward the number ten at the side. He felt a sudden panic come over him, as if the time was all that mattered to him. A sudden roar gripped the wood, sending birds apanic as he checked the time, and saw that it came from the dragon-likeness on the face of his watch, whose mouth had opened and let out the rumble. "My name is Sidarthas, milady and milord, but call me Sid", he said hastily, looking about him his long dirty-blond hair fluttering with his head. "May I ask who your names are, and make it quick? We haven't much time. My lord, we're late, we're late!" |

Jackal jumped when he saw the watch and was tempted to throw it away. "Good heavens no...we need to leave my dear...I told you never trust anyone." Lydia tilted her head sideways and looked at him with confusion, "What do you mean, what it the matter?" Jackal pointed to the watch and shivered a little, "W...wh....white rabbit, she is going to turn Sid into a wh....white rabbit. The worst guards in all the land unless you like giant man sized white rabbits who rip you to pieces." Lydia jumped but stayed strong, "Isn't there a way to stop it, he isn't a rabbit yet...isn't there a way." She begged not wanting to be trapped in this place alone with Jackal and no other help. If they wanted to get out they had to stick together. "No Miss, there is no way...none that we have found at least...well...maybe there is a way...perhaps...but it will not remove the effects already on him but the process might be stopped...the witch could do it...she lives in the swamp with her...pets. Best we not pester, lets leave Sid to his fait." Lydia moved forward and put a hand on Sids shoulder, "No we are not leaving him, I'm not going to leave anyone behind in this...this...nightmarish world." She looked up at Sid with a smile and curtsied slightly realizing how out of character that was. "Hello, I am Lydia...and the coward over their is Jackal, tis a pleasure to meet you Sid. The day however...has been an odd one, tis not everyday one gets caught in a strange world...where exactly are we late to dear Sid?" Jackal snuffed and turned his head up crossing his arms, "Hu, probably late to meet his precious master to be...the Queen." Lydia turned to look at Jackal giving him a glare. No one was going to become a white rabbit on her watch. She looked back at Sid and smiled again, "We are going to find a way back, would you like to come with us?" Lydia was acting more...innocent then she did. She was acting as if she had never killed a person in all her life. This place didn't just change your clothes but it changed your behavior as well. She didn't care much at least she was still herself inside, and she was sure she was not turning into anything strange. "Well then Lydia...are you coming?" Barked Jackal as he took a few steps forward back to the path to the swamp. "I am sure the witch will have a lot to tell us if we go see her...and she may tell you what they key is for." Pulling the key from her pocket she looked it over seeing the top of the silver key was shaped as a heart. "Hmm...curious...very curious." She didn't know why but she was rather attached to this key, she felt it would come in handy to her and she was not going to let it go for nothing. Not all the Queens white rabbits were going to get her to give it up. Why she didn't know yet but maybe the witch would clear things up for them...either that or she would frighten them all. |

// *Pokes Grimlore, perhaps you didn't read the character alliances page for this, but the word minimum is 500, and could you please state whether you're going to be playing one of Lydia's companions or the villian, as I could fit either role and will take whichever of the two that you do not pick. Miranda lay awake in the lodging that she'd managed to gain for the night. She'd been travelling through the enchanted forest in order to reach a prison that she'd been assigned to. There were several hamlets and small towns that while still technically under the sovereignty of the King of Avalon, were so distant and unimportant that sending messages back to the king was considered too troublesome. As such they had established something of a separate legal system similar to that of where she'd been raised. Miranda had been assigned to preside over their cases for the moment for a while just to make sure that their decisions in what they did were just. She'd been on the road for several days, and had almost arrived at her destination. She should arrive there late the next day; but for now she'd had to take shelter in a roadside inn. Lying awake in the bed, she wished that she'd brought some books with her; reading them before sleeping seemed to stifle her imagination long enough to suppress her manic dreams. As it was she would simply have to try and get some rest and live with them. The other option would be turning up to her assignment tired. She'd rather not make an error and generate a bad first impression. As she lay there, the world seemed to suddenly shift. What in the world was this? She suddenly found herself lying in the middle of a room coloured in various psycodelic hues and decorated in patterns that seemed to have been placed in no particular pattern at all. More surprising though was the fact that in place of her nightgown, she was dressed in what appeared to be a set of ornate and well made hooded robes. Well that was good. She'd rather not have to wander around in that. Surveying the room, she realised that it's chaotic and almost perfect chaos was in keeping with her usual dreams, she imagined that at some stage that blasted cube would make an appearance. Almost as if conjured by the thought, a four armed cube with legs and a face wandered into the room, speaking to her in what amounted to a monotone. "Attention: Traveller, I am unit XS29350" Yes, as usual. Ahh well, this didn't feel like a dream to her. So she decided that she might as well ask it some questions, it couldn't hurt, and might turn out to be rather useful. "Err...yes, thank you. So, where exactly am I?" It was the most obvious question, although the answer that she got was far from what she'd expected. "Query recognised. Checking user permissions. Permission granted. Searching database. Location found. You are at position X = 63.3234323432955 degrees, give or take one millionth of a degree, Y = 21.234323237789430 degrees give or take one millionth of a degree, Z= 3.24 degrees give or take one tenth of a degree." It was just as confusing as it always was it seemed. "Well, in that case, how did I get here?." "My hypothesis would be a numerical error in the composition of the multiverse caused by the use of an object of stored energy leading to a temporary isolated shift in certain sections of other worlds." Right... as much as she prided herself on her knowledge, Miranda couldn’t understand a word of what this thing was going on about. Questioning it seemed as though it would be futile, she might as well go and explore the rest of whatever the rest of this world was like. She turned away and was just about to leave the elaborate room through the doorway which the creature had entered from. As she did so, it began to ‘speak’ again. “Assignment leaving area, relaying message” Finally it says something with at least some sense behind it, even if it seemed to be talking to itself. But then something inexplicable happened. The cube’s natural monotonous voice was replaced with what seemed to be a feminine voice as it spoke to her. “Welcome to the world, I am the queen of this world. Undoubtedly you have found yourself confused by my envoy, most people are. I would like to extend to you a personal invitation to my palace. This creature should be capable of leading you to me. I shall speak and explain your current situation to you in more detail when you arrive, I’d have come for you myself, but I’m too busy to personally collect every new arrival.” The voice cut off there, that was more understandable, sort of, but the person on the other end of it seemed more understandable than this other creature did. She could ask further questions there, they’d likely be more fruitful than trying to get anything of worth out of this crazed cube probably would be. Walking over to the pack she’d carried, Miranda opened it to change into a set of more practical travelling clothes, only to find that all of the contents had been altered into similarly extravagant outfits. This place truly was strange. It was almost like...magic. Then she realised the simple answer to one of the questions she’d previously posed the polygon, she’d arrived here by some sort of magic; probably a teleportation spell of some sort. It was as though she was meant to play some sort of role, and considering the quality of the clothing, and the fact that she was being invited to an audience with the queen, whoever she was, it was likely a role of at least moderate importance, however balancing that was the fact that the queen’s message had stated that she wasn’t able to visit all arrivals personally. Reading into it, she realised that it implied that she was far from the most valuable person to find themselves here. Well, she’d been promised that she would be granted an explanation when she met this woman. Perhaps it was a deception, perhaps not. Miranda knew well enough that a seemingly benevolent action could be a cloak cast over a hidden blade, as well as the extra weight held behind a lie that user wanted to believe, or that they were afraid to be true; perhaps this entire world was an elaborate deception in itself, a dream made to feel real and using that feeling to scare her into believing that she truly had been trapped within a world of maddness. Miranda was in quite a fix. She could set out in what seemed to be a world of pure insanity with little worthwhile information about where she was other than that she was at some weird XYZ place, or, she could visit a woman that she didn’t know, or even know about, in the hope that she’d give some new information, or at least make some sense of what this living cube had told her, or at least explain it in words that she understood. Neither option seemed exactly appealing, but if Miranda simply stood there, she’d eventually starve. She would go to meet this woman, but she’d keep on her guard. Looking down at the pile of clothing in her pack, Miranda considered changing into something else, her current garb was in fact the plainest of all the garbs, but she felt drawn to them, although she wasn’t sure why. Perhaps they’re a symbol of some sort here and the magic of this place making me feel an attraction to them or somesuch. Looking at the cubic guide, Miranda made a command, hopefully it would be able to comprehend her. “Take me to the queen.” She ordered it, and seemed to understand what she was saying, for it ‘stood’ up and replied in the usual emotionless tone. “Affirmatory. Going to queen.” As it finished speaking, the cube began to walk out the doorway at a brisk pace. Following it, Miranda took her first glance of the actual landscape of this section of the world. She was confronted by what seemed to be a swamplike plain concisting of a similar composition to that of her room. Objects seemed to be composed of the strangest colours, black grass, green tree trunks, grey leaves, the only thing about it that seemed at all normal was the red stone road leading through the woods. The walking talking cube began waundering down the pathway. Miranda pulled her hood up over her head so as to avoid catching any spider webs that she might come across in her hair and began to follow after. Edited by Miranda Mason, Feb 3 2009, 07:09 PM.

Grimlore traveled the path. Well not really he more like shadowed the path. He never liked traveling on paths. After all he and his clan would set traps along the sides of a paths and ambush anyone that came along. Moving through the forest Grimlore's stomach grumbled, he inwardly told himself that food would come at the end of the day. It was only midday as he looked to the position of the sun. Come to think of it the sun was at midday when he came out of the mist. He wondered if time worked here as it did back home. Grimlore could feel his stomach starting to grumble again only this time he heard a roar that spooked the birds from the trees. He looked at his stomach. With a smile on his face he mentally told his stomach that he would go hunting soon. Grimlore pulled his weapons from his belt and started to move very slow through the trees. He spotted the strange trio talking ahead of him. Like him they too were fallowing a path. Grimlore was not close enough to hear them as they talked. He wanted to stay put and just fallow them. Yet he had a strange urge to introduce himself to the lady. He fought the urge. He did not want to be a ... to be a... the words failed his conscious mind. Not only did this world change his body, it also changed his ability to think. Deep in his subconscious mind the words screamed out. You do not want to be a pawn!!! His mind could not grasp what a pawn was, but he knew that he did not to be manipulated. He had had enough of that from his own clan. His clan would placed him in the front line of combat with little hope or help, and he managed to live through that. He wanted nothing more then to be free of that life, but first he would have to fine the way back home, and the power that could change him back to himself most assuredly knew the way back home. He tried to fight the urge that was welling up inside of him, but the longer he looked at her the harder it was to fight. Finally he placed his weapons back on his belt and headed for the strange trio in front of him. He was now a human, his skin was darker then theirs, but that should not pose any problems. "Greetings to all. Especially you young lady." The words sounded strange to his ears. He had never spoken human before. He had only known the grunting, snort language of the Orcs. This new language sounded sweet to his ears. He shook himself to get himself back on track. "Pray tell can any of you give me directions to the nearest way out of this world." Grimlore made sure to bow, and keep his eyes caste downward, as he addressed the very well dressed trio in front of him. |

OoC: Lighten up a little, Miranda, we can take liberties here. When the half-orc approached the trio, which was now becoming a quartet, Sid immediately flew into a fit. "Come, come", he growled, pointed to his watch face to indicate the passing of time, "We haven't much time! We must move quickly if we're to see this....witch that can reverse the effects of my transformation!" His nose twitched in irritation at the delayed. "And if you must know, my dear Lydia", Sid quipped, his jaw aquiver, "We're late for getting on the move! Must we stand here bickering and conversing and congregating when we must certainly be on the move!? The day is young, but a young day soon turns old, and then it passes away and the night is born!" Sid shook his head violently when he finished his last sentence, attempting to regain his rational train of thought not having to do with his pocket-watch of Kenji. "If I ever do that again.....hit me and hit me hard", he grumbled, "Jackal", he addressed the cane-wielding Hatter, "you said there's a witch that could stop this transformation? Can we make haste there? I don't have any intention on returning to Avalon with a watch and a twitching nose." His nose twitched again. "As for directions out of this world, Half-Orc", addressed Sid to the newcomer, "It twould seem that it would be best to stick with us, because we're seeking the exact same thing and a quartet is better than a trio." |

Lydia curtsied to the newcomer and smiled at him sweetly. She honestly was feeling funny, but probably not in the same way as Sid’s twitching nose. She felt more like...she had been here before, but she didn't know where here even was. The witch she decided, she will know everything, she must if Jackal is making such a fuss out of it. "I am Lydia, this is Jackal, and the Sid is the one fussing about the time again. Pleasure to meet you sir." Lydia turned back to Sid as he asked to be hit the next time he tweaked out about the time. Jackal could be seen hoisting his cane up at the ready. Time keepers made him go nuts since this place didn't run on normal...or even real time. The time was decided by the queen, and therefore it was always...tea time. Lydia nodded her head and continued off of his suggestion, "I think Sid is right, we have better chances of getting out of here together then alone. Come on jackal lead the way to our witch. Like Sid said, we don’t have time to waste." Jackal became alarmingly alert and started sniffing the air like a dog, his hands curled up in front of him like an obedient pooch begging for a treat. "Umm...ummm...this way, the swamp is this way I can smell it." Jackal dashed forward almost skipping along. Lydia rolled her eyes and grabbed onto Sid’s arm and followed the hyper man. "What’s with the sniffing Jackal, don't tell me you are turning into a dog now." For a moment he stopped and looked back on the little group that had gathered together. "No, not at all...dog why would I be a dog...I never was and never will be a doggy so long as I live. But I will tell you this miss, I have a great sense of smell and a loyalty that could never be broken." "The question is just who it is you are loyal too." Jackal moved with less enthusiasm then before and let his head drop, "Well it doesn’t matter now, to the one whom my loyalty lies had been gone for a long time. I think she will never return again...but that is aright with me, I have a place in the here and now...helping you fools find a way home." Lydia shrugged her shoulders wondering what this was all about. She looked at Sid to make sure no fluffy bunny tail was sticking out of his pants or that his feet had grown longer. She had no idea how rabbits could be so dangerous but they frightened Jackal so they must be horrible creatures indeed...but rabbits, honestly. Looking to the newcomer she smiled again, "So do you remember how you got here...it seems odd to me, no one case seems the same. I mean I came through a mirror so it makes me wonder if this is random or planed. I can't imagine why someone would want an Assassin...a gentleman…and a...well Sid said you are part Orc but you don't look it at all. I suppose this place is changing us all a little...even me. I am not sure how it is changing me but I can feel it...only a little, then again if feels more like I am changing into proper form, but then again it could just be the queens influence." |

As Grimlore started to walk with the group he addressed Lydia. "Pardon me my lady. Where are my..... manors?" This last question struck Grimlore as being odd, and caused him to pause in mid sentence. For a Half-Orc normally doesn't have manors nor do they have any knowledge of proper social etiquette. Thinking to himself "This place has me totally turned around. I really need to get out of here." Grimlore shook off his confusion, and returned to the matter at hand. "I am called Grimlore my lady, and yes your friend Sid is right. I am a Half-Orc. For the life of me I can not say why this place chose me or why it chose to turn me into a human. I guess this game needs pawns as well as Knights and Queens. The last thing I remember is that I was running through a fog to escape my clan. You see back there I was a half breed, a slave. Nothing more then an animal, only good for doing the bidding of my Orc betters." The last part was hard for Grimlore to say as the words tasted like bitter fruit on his tongue. The hate he felt could be seen burning in his eyes, even though he still maintained a smile on his face. "Once I came out of the fog I found myself in this world, and in this form. I found this shirt and these weapons. I guess this Queen you refer to gave me these things to compensate for taking my, or should I say for changing my body." "Forgive me Lady Lydia. We have fallen behind, and I think we had better catch up with Sir Sid and Sir Jackal. Sid seems to be looking a litle fluffy around the edges. I guess we better hop to it" A devilish smile broaden across Grimlore face, as he waited for the sweet Lydia to get the joke. Edited by Grimlore, Feb 5 2009, 07:45 AM.

Sid growled as his keen ears, possibly a sign of his Elven blood, caught the Half-Orc's joke. Kenji heard what Sid heard, and his mind was then clouded by the roaring laughter of an amused dragon before it finally finished whatever foolish adventurer who wandered to their den. Discontented at his dragon-watch, Sid spinned it around on its chain a good few times to make the conscious dragon dizzy. After shutting his dragon up, Sid checked the time, and saw that half-an-hour had passed. Grumpily catching up to Jackal, who was casually leading the way toward the marsh that held the witch that could stop his transformation, Sid's nose was twitching as he urgently addressed the guide. "Have you any idea how much time has passed", he exclaimed, waving his watch in front of Jackal's face, "We could be travelling at a brisker pace and shave several minutes off of our time! We must make haste, good gentleman, for we haven't much time." His nose twitched again, "Are you going to condemn me to a transformation into a rabbit!? Are you!? We're late, you bastard, and I think you're making it so on purpose!" Sid's nose was twitching violently now as he reached back toward Chrysamere, intent on drawing it to intimidate the cowardly Jackal. |

She giggled at Grimlores joke and tried not to make it obvious by covering her mouth. She didn't want to come off as rude. Lydia jumped as Sid went on about time and that Jackal was trying to make them late. Once he marched closer to Jackal and went for his blade Lydia jumped in front of their guide and yelled at Sid, "Stop...Jackal is not trying to make us late, he’s trying to help you Sid." Jackal cowered behind Lydia and whimpered as the two slowly backed up. A loud sploosh sound echoed through the trees as Jackal seemed to shrink about six inches and Lydia turned to see him standing in a pool of water. Sniffing the air Jackal cringed, "Well were here, you can smell the swamp before you see it, but this time we must have been traveling with the wind...of course that means floppsies friends might have smelt us. We better keep moving." Lydia stopped for a moment hearing a wind rush through the trees but it didn't sound like a normal wind. Her eyes glanced down a path as black ground and green tree trunks replaced the forest. The sound was like singing in the distance...singing her name and Sids name, and even Grimlores name. Pulling Jackal out of the mud she asked him, "Who is that?" "That'll be the witch love...stay close, don't get lost, lord only knows what’s in her woods...all her little 'pets' and such. Some friendly, and some not so friendly." A loud screech made Lydia jump and look to her side panting a little with fear. Why did she have fear, she was never afraid before. She looked up in a tree spotting a strange bird with a face on both sides of its head. Two beaks, four eyes, and four feet. The bird took to the sky flying off into one direction before flying backwards....or was it now flying forwards? She honestly could not tell. "I think we should keep moving, this place is giving me the creeps." "Right then her house is this way, follow me." Jackal bounced off ahead with a wide grin happy that Lydia was saving his skin from the slowly turning fuzz ball. Dare he say it but it was nice to have a friend. |

Grimlore felt quite guilty, and was now quite sorry for his little joke at Sir Sid's expense. Yet when Lady Lydia step between Sir Sid's and Sir Jackal's argument, all Grimlore could do was pull his weapons and watch the Lady's back. If push came to shove Grimlore really doubted his chance against Sir Sid, but he would do what he had to do, no matter what the out come may be. Breathing a sigh a relief, as the party once again started moving down the path, Grimlore moved to, and followed the party from its left flank. He still did not trust paths and was not afraid of the witch's pet, friendly of not. Even though the Queen had changed him, Grimlore still stood seven foot tall and had no problem moving through the wet swamp land. this time Grimlore was keeping his words to himself. Grimlore watched the rear of this happy little quartet, as Sir Jackal lead the way. Grimlore saw many strange things in his short life, but the creatures of this swamp land where the strangest things he has ever seen. He saw the strange bird that Lady Lydia had seen, then realized that now more then ever he needed to pay attention to the area around the party. He keep fifteen paces behjind the party, and hoped that the Witch's house was not to far away. |

Sid huffed and puffed when Lydia got between him and Jackal. He was frustrated that his transformation was continuing and they were making no progress. However, the Jackal continued onward, and they soon traversed the bog. Now, there was still some distance to go before they would make it to the house, and Sid's nose was continuing to twitch more and more as they continued forward. Then, he smelled something. The presence was hostile to the travellers, that was for sure. Sid could smell them from a mile away, and his ears also seemed to perk up as the new presences were approaching the four. Sid sprang into action immediately, Chrysamere leaping forth from his scabbard. "Guys", he called to his companions, "We're not alone." |
