The air was ever so thick with the smell, no, the stench of fish and salt water. This was easily the busiest and most profitable market for fish around, you could find all sorts of seafood around here ranging from the basic to the rare and exotic. Unfortunately for Sozen he didn't like seafood whatsoever, and this smell was all to bothersome. It was about 1:00 in the afternoon, the sun was high up in the air as the yellow orb shone down with great intensity, the bright rays of sunlight sure as hell heated up the land below because it was sure hot outside, and this hot and sticky temperature only made the smell of fish worse. The sorcerer found traversing through this area horrible, although he knew that the smell lingered only outside for the most part, and should he be able to find refuge within a building of some sort he would be just dandy - and he had just the place in mind, a tavern he visited often when off the boat in fact. The thick wooden doors would be pressed open before him as the pirate stepped inside, kicking his boots together at the front entrance he made his best attempt to kick off any dirt and other such garbage from the bottom of his feet, and after said effort is when he would take a few steps inside. The tavern was large and spacious, a long bar in the center with several chairs and tables positioned to the left and right, the sound of music brought a joyous expression to the adviser's face as a single jade orb would focus 'pon the musicians. With a smirk he ventured further into the building, and moving to the far right corner of the structure he would find himself the table farther into the corner as he made sure that when he sat he could see the entire bar, you see, Sozen rather enjoyed observing people - and it never hurt to keep your back protected. "This will do.." Hands would delve into the confines of his jacket as he searched and searched, after a few moments items would be removed from his clothing, and setting them up on the table he was prepared. A quill accompanied with ink, along with a large notepad is what he had with him, what did he plan to do you ask? Well it was simple, draw. Sozen rather liked drawing amongst other things like writing, which is the reason why he had such items with him. The tip of the quill was brought downwards with a quick motion, and dipping into the ink with a clean drop he would lift it upwards once more, and then with an abrupt swish of his arm the point was slid across the parchment. Hands would move with great dexterity as he worked diligently, seemingly shutting out the rest of the bar he would only move to look upwards to one of the musicians across the room - reason being that he was in fact drawing this gentleman. He would be completed soon enough as he continued with the task at hand, and only one question would be emerging as he did so; What would he draw next? |

This was her first start, it had been a few days since after she met Shadyn, well she missed him terribly already, but that was alright. The salty air was something she was accustomed to, and her deep blue eyes were bright with wonder over the culture and the business here. Se trailed over the market, looking down at some of the 'vendor's and noticed that indeed, fish were on sale. oh dear, were they dead? Did people like eating fish? She would've poked one with her soft light blue index finger, however the man in charge told her to buy something. She had no money unfortunately, so she moved on. She pulled her white robe closer to herself, the warmth of the sun was baking her. Making her sizzle a tad. She'd need water soon, and she was growing thirsty. Fixing her deep blue dress that matches her long wavy hair, she progressed into the only building that was close enough. She was in a tavern it looked like. Ever since she stepped unto 'civilization' she had been getting stares. She wasn't a water Nymph, no she was far better, though she did look aquatic. Her true blue eyes looked around curiously, however her mind rung a bell at the bartender, he had drinks around. Good. She was rather happy, as a smile grew on her face, music was being played. Maybe she would dance after wards. She sat down on a chair, figuring it out that you sit upon it. Oh dear, maybe she should've left her ocean home sooner? She looked up at the bartender, somewhat embarassed. "May I have some water please....?" She asked, rather politely and sweetly, though it was hard, third person she ever talked to in her life, even if it be a simple request. She was handed a glass of fresh water which was nice and cold, of course he looked at her rather strangely, and she looked down at her water as she drank some and then back at the man. He wanted money apparently. "..I...don't have any sir..." She told him, but since it was just water and because she was polite she got it for free. "Thank you." |

The creak of the large front doors opening would surely rouse the attention of the patrons inside, the loud noise was enough to get those near to twist their heads to see who had came inside, and amongst the onlookers was of course Sozen. He always enjoyed observing others, he always wondered what made people tick and do what they do, and above all else he loved to exploit them and manipulate them to do his bidding - although this was all dependent on whether he liked them or not. If Sozen liked you he was the guy to go to for advise or other forms of help, but get on his bad side and he would make it his goal to ruin you completely, he preferred despair and total emotional destruction opposed to physical pain. But none of this mattered at the moment, and with a flick of a single jade slate eye moved upwards and would focus on the on who had entered, and boy was she an interesting one. A very graceful frame of blue is what Sozen was struck with, and never in his life had he ever seen one of her kind. Sure, being that of a shapeshifter he could manipulate himself into a form such as that if he wished, but to see what he assumed to be an aquatic-type of race such as this was something new. He had always heard of people of the ocean, and despite his many years of living and many years of being aboard ships the sorcerer had realized he had never really come across any sort of aquatic races, and to be honest he was intrigued. The nearly finished drawing of the musician was dispatched as he would tear it from the pad and slide it across the table to the other side, and with a quick drop the quill was coated in a blob of fresh ink. Gaze would be held to this unique female holding her drink, and with deft and graceful movements the pirate would begin the process of sketching her. There was a faint scratching noise made each time the quill was dragged quickly along the parchment, and at times it would halt completely as Sozen would take a few seconds to bring his head upwards to look over his model once more. He figured he was quite noticeable with all the noise and movement, especially with him being the only one in the corner, but he didn't care much - most were flattered when he drew them. |

Rene looked down at her glass, as she was taking rather small sips of her drink, good as it was, she was more intrigued and distracting by this....container that held the water. She pressed her face against it, her eyes close to it, it was clear! It was clear and yet how? She saw the pale blue reflection of her fingers grasping it. What a wondrous thing this was! Already she wanted to know what it was called. Was it common? Her eyes looked up as she focused her eyes unto the shelves of 'wondrous, clear object's' that lay upon them, carrying some liquid to her that was unknown. By the darker tint, she had guessed that they weren't water like she had with her now. Besides, some of the 'see-through thingie's' were of different colors. How intriguing! She stared up at them, the bartender looking at her strangely again, but laughing as she was mystified and awe. She finally ripped her eyes from them, taking a few more sips. Finding the water to be quite delicious. She looked around with a small smile, though it dulled, many people were looking at her, some intrigued and with awe, and others more a 'strange' glance as if they wondered what the hell she was in a rude way. Maybe they thought she was repulsive? She turned away and kept to herself, feeling her self-esteem simply begin to drop again, thinking a little nagetively about herself again. She instead, would go over to the musician once she was done. And she had finished off her drink rather quickly. she was thirsty after all and she got down from her seat, her bare feet touching the wood floors. She bowed, thanking him, and she curiously walked over to the musician, sitting down on a vacant chair close to the man, smiling. 'Play some more please?" She asked sweetly, and he did, which she giggled and enjoyed herself. So far so good. No hardships, just curious fun was all. |

The sorcerer continued to work diligently as right hand slid in all directions across the parchment, only pausing on occasion to dip the quill into the ink and to look over the female once more. He watched as she'd move, drink, and he most of all noticed her facial expressions. She seemed quite curious and full of excitement, even from her glass alone she seemed to find joy in just observing it, had she never seen such things as these before? I mean, this tavern wasn't very exciting now was it? A small smirk was brought to the shapeshifter's face as he'd drop his gaze down once more, looking over his work the drawing was completed for the most part, all that remained were the details in both the clothing and hair. The drawing was of the female sitting at the bar leaning forward with her glass, it was from her side; the view in which Sozen had been able to see her. Although he had drawn this fast the quality of the drawing was superb, he was naturally gifted with very neat and visually appealing writing and drawing capabilities. He would sigh as he leaned back in the heavy wooden chair, the quill was brought upwards as he'd brush the soft feather against the side of his cheek, and with a final drop downwards he'd stick the pointed tip into the ink. Clasping hands together digits would intertwine as he rested his chin atop them, and look across the tavern he was once more observing this strange female - and for some reason he had the urge to know her name, he didn't like not being able to put a name to a face. Sozen would rise from his chair and come to a stand over his table, and taking a last few seconds to hunch over he would utilize his quill for the last time on this particular piece of work, with a quick scribble he would sign the drawing in the bottom right corner after finishing up the final details, 'Sozen Alphaeus' He was content with his work, and taking the paper into his hand he would neatly remove it from the stack of other paper, being sure not to wrinkle nor fold it in any way he made his way across the room. Standing just behind her he inhaled deeply, and with a slight tap on the shoulder he aimed to get her attention, at which point he would hand the drawing to her, "This is for you.." |

Rene watched the musician play, and she arms were crossed on the table, her chin placed upon the cool skin of her arms. She felt like she would be put into a trance of this music, slowly lulled to sleep as if a charming spell. She felt her eyes slowly begin to close, a soft smile upon her soft lips, almost closing her eyes, she almost jumped at the first sign of someone touching her shoulder. She gasped softly, immediately sitting up right, looking behind her to see a man behind her, holding a piece of paper in his hand. She looked up at him with curious and rather deep blue eyes and then down upon the paper again. "Yes?" She asked softly, wondering why he wanted her attention. Honestly, anybody would, however with his rather cool tone of voice he offered her the paper which she took in her hand. This...material...was rather light she noticed. And it was thin! Oh my, how mind-boggling! However, the image she was staring at, was now a picture. It was a wonderfully drawn picture, and it looked exactly like her! He must have some really decent skills to do such a thing! She was wowed, and it showed on her facial expression. "Oh my, this is really beautiful!" She commented, blown away. This was her first picture and a 'gift' from the world she had only coem to explore for but a few hours. "We have to become friends then! Mister...Sozen Alphaeus! Then, you can make me more pictures! I've been missing too much...I should've left the sea long ago if I could find such wonders as this!" She got up and bowed with respect. "Thank you for your kindness. However..I...don't really know where to put it...and if I ever go swimming it'd get ruined Mister Sozen..." She seemingly pouted, disappoinment washing over her rather attractive face. "Also, my name is Rene Toress, Mister Sozen. I hope we can be friends like I said." She smiled, rather full of youthfulness and joyfulness that made her quite cute. |

Standing rather awkwardly the sorcerer watched closely as he seemed to catch the female off-guard, he had hoped he didn't startle her. It was when she would turn that jade orbs would catch of those deep blue eyes of hers, they had matched the blue that seemed to be across her entire body, and he thought it looked quite nice to be honest. He looked downwards and watched closely, and when her facial expression lit up he too would crack a smile. He always liked when others were impressed with his work, it made him feel like a decent artist at least, he never really liked his own drawings - but others had seemed to. Normally Sozen handed out the drawings he drew of people to the ones he was drawing such as he did now, but he had his own little collection back on the ship, such as when he drew from memory or forms of nature and wildlife. His work was simple drawings and sketches with a quill, he'd never really dabbled into such arts as colouring his work, although he planned to. He'd remain silent as she'd speak, talks of the two becoming friends and thanks for the gift, it wasn't really necessary, although she seemed to be overjoyed with a simple present from Sozen's part. Twas once the female introduced herself he'd lower himself into quite a gentlemanly bow as he'd address the girl. For a pirate Sozen was quite eloquent and regal in his demeanor, he was just about the complete opposite of about 90% of the men onboard. With a calm and rather soothing voice he'd speak softly from his bowed position, "Pleasure to meet you, Rene..And please, you can just call me Sozen.." He would rise to a full stand and arms would still be held tightly against his blue jacket, pondering he was trying to think of a way to solve her problem, she was right when she spoke of the image being ruined should she return to the seas. "Well, you could put it in some form of container..Or, if you have a place to stay on land you can keep it there!" Again, the soothing and convincing voice of the sorcerer would come out with the friendliest of tones, one thing was certain - this man knew how to speak and present himself. Look downwards he'd feel somewhat awkward just standing there, and motioning towards a chair next to her he'd speak up, "Mind if I join you, Rene?" |

He seemed rather happy to know of her name, even if it was in his own way. She was impressed still by the drawing. she placed it down upon the table, and stared at it with that same smile upon her face. She loved the drawing, and se found it nice to know that there were just as nice people out there. She looked up at him again as he spoke, saying that he could just be called Sozen and that the two were well met. "Okay, Sozen. Nice to meet you too." She smiled, nodding. He gave her a suggestion for trying to keep the picture safe and she looking at a bottle, having an idea. "Er, so...what if we put it in this see-through thingie? And then put a cap or something over it? That'd work right?" She said, clapping her hands together in a fit of joyfulness. She rather liked how he bowed with such respect like she usually did to say thank you, but she learned that bowing after giving ones name is acceptable too. "Honestly, I...really never have been out of the sea before, I came out of it just this morning to know what the world was like...and...I suppose it was a good decision. I don't want to seem like a baby who doesn't know simple, common-place things anymore. I hate being treated as such as well...I...found that out the hard way last night." She sighed, the inner core that rested in her chest having a sort of 'sore' feeling from that memory. "Oh! Sorry for rambling! Sure, please do.I like company." She patted the chair next to her, urging him to sit next to her. |

Further and further Sozen had made his best to analyze the general persona of this girl, what he found so far was that she seemed to be quite nice, oblivious, and a little shy, so far he had found nothing he'd really disliked, and with that he figured he could be her friend. He tried to place himself in her shoes in an attempt to see things through her eyes, because he couldn't understand for the life of him what was so amazing about glass. I guess being used to it and around it all the time it was no big deal for him, but when you lived underwater your entire life the first trip to the surface would be a whole new experience, just about everything would be different. The homes, the materials and items, even the people themselves, virtually everything. He'd realized he had lost himself in thought once more, and quickly shaking it out of his system he would once more place all his attention to Rene. "That uh, 'see-through thingy' is called glass..You're right though, you could keep it in there." His voice was slow and helpful, he made an effort to teach her something new about a world he had come to the conclusion she knew next to nothing about. Twas not but a few moments later the girl would speak up, and just as he had expected she admitted to him that this was indeed her first time up here, it must be quite the experience. Left brow would raise though towards the end end of her sentence as a quizzical expression became apparent. - The hard way? He held his tongue briefly as he would sit slowly in the seat next to her as the musicians continued on doing what they did best, and being quite close to the music was nice, although little attention was given to the men at this point. Head would turn as charcoal locks would flick softly amidst the movement, jade slates would move to meet the blue eyes of Rene, and inhaling slowly he'd speak just shortly after, "If you don't mind my asking, what do you mean, 'the hard way'?" Sozen was definitely the curious type, and with a possible chance to pass on advice - which is something he enjoyed doing - he felt comfortable asking, although he wasn't sure if Rene would be comfortable answering. |

Glass, it was called glass. What a strange name, ah but it suited this strange see-through thing! She held up the glass infront of her face, shaking it, wondering if it would do something. The light reflected upon it from the window, making it rather shiny which astounded her like some cat going after a shiny object. She waited until the wet substance that made this wondrous picture was dry before folding it as gently as possible and putting it into this rather dry bottle. She plugged it and then smiled, her face looking rather silly, the reflection off of the glass was amusing to look at. "Sozen, am I completely hideous like this visage coming from this...'glass'?" She asked, wanting his opinion. honestly, she had never found herself 'physically attractive.' After the incident last night...her self-esteem was by the rocks. Amidst her thinking, she looked down at the bottle, quiet, and her gaze seemed vacant. His question may have snapped her out of her trance, but it wasn't a very welcomed question. Her eyebrows furrowed tightly amongst her face, showing her frustration and uncomfortable feeling about the question. "He didn't accept me. Because I was too different. ....he was a special person, and even if I didn't know what to call my feelings for him, they were strong. He rejected me...and he made me cry, so...I...left the ocean because of him, because he wanted me to be more mature. He was only half the reason though, but...I vowed that I would never love again...because I don't want to get hurt." She laughed though, afterwards, but it was pitiable. "He never understood fully why I was the way I am. I barely know anything about the world, and if I did know much about the world i'd probably be a totally different person." She gripped her own cup that held her water, it cracking a bit from the pressure. she was obviously...somewhat angry. "He didn't give me a chance...even if I...longed for him so deeply. ...I was alone before I met him, and he made me feel whole, even if we met for the first time yesterday. So, he simply left this morning, I told him i'd wait for him...forever, but...I regret ever having any feelings for him whatsoever." She looked at Sozen, looking like a sad little puppy. "I'm rambling, sorry..." |

The sorcerer would lean back and rest against the wood of his chair, head was partially tilted towards the the ceiling and partially leaning towards Rene. Eye would watch her curiously as she went about her business, and it seemed she had gone along with her initial idea, and with the picture tightly secured into the bottle Sozen was sure it would be just fine - as long as it didn't break that is. Left hand shot upwards as the pirate would push stiff digits into charcoal mane, brushing hair backwards fingers would then lower as he'd begin to nibble lightly on the end of his thumb, all the while watch her further. "Not at all, the glass just distorts your image..I think you're an attractive young lady, no need to worry, Rene." His tone was friendly and he spoke truthful words, it also would probably come off a bit flirtatious, but that was simply Sozen trying to sound as appealing and nice as possible, he had no interest in females other than Mab. Just thoughts of her brought up a flood of memories as he'd momentarily drift off into a day-dream, but the sounds of the female next to him speaking proved sufficient to snap him out of this state. He was quick the read her facial expression and could see the uncomfortable look to her, had he asked a question he shouldn't have? Unfortunately Sozen's curious nature often had him asking a plethora of questions - whether this was a good thing or not varied. "Not at all, Rene. I'm sorry to hear about your problems, I wish I could offer some advice, but I'm not sure what to do about this one to be honest.." Love was a complicated emotion, he knew this from experience, in fact it was not long ago he'd gone through an emotional ride himself involving love and the opposite sex. It was a new emotion to him, and thus he really had no experience and it caught him off-guard, and for that reason he couldn't exactly offer advice, but he could listen. "I'm listening if you need to talk, Rene..Or we can change the subject completely, I don't mind.." Sorry for the wait. ^^ |

She didn't know why, why she was made just to suffer from this man she had come to love so strongly. However, even with this man speaking words of truth in his eyes, her own mind cut off, doubting him completely. She may had been the water's true image, but that doesn't mean that she had to be attractive. She wondered why she was even alive, why was she born? Looking down at her distorted image of herself on the glass, her expression looked sad and yet complex all the same. "For what purpose do I have by being...alive?" She asked herself quietly, crossing her arms over the table and placing her head down upon them, sniffling every so often. "Who would even want me?!" She shouted, tears falling down her cheeks. "I'm a horror to look upon! I'm too different to fit in with anyone! I can never love anyone...nor can anyone love me for who I am...he showed me this. ...my paradise of leaving a blissful lie of existence was brought down by one man!" Oh, why did she have to meet him? He was the one that made her self-esteem drop immensely, he was the one that would make the rest of her life feel meaningless, and he was the one that with his leave, left a large hole in the core of her spiritual core. "Sozen...I don't know how i'll feel any better...this...what will my journey accomplish? I'll probably...only find more pain for myself..." OOC: Short... |
