Failure to follow the new rules instated may cause you to earn a WARNING as with any other failure to follow the rules. Ignorance is not an excuse, that is why we ANNOUNCE all updates. Additionally it has come to our attentions that many people are IGNORING the CURRENT rules. This will no longer be tolerated. Following the rules is not optional. -The no double posting rule also refers to CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS, something people have been ignoring for while. The only exception to the no double posting rule is for all OOC forums, and journal entries. There is no need to bump your description with edited notes. There is an 'edited by' feature for a REASON, further more you have no fear of your description topic being 'lost', as you are supposed to have a link to your description placed in your account signature. (At the very least as to provide a signature so we can take care of shop modding and competition prizes, etc). -Do NOT reply to an IC topic with a complete OOC post, not for any reason. If you have something to say, PM the person. Additionally any OOC text DOES NOT count to the word minimum. If you do the above, you will lose your post count gained, and have your reply deleted. First offense will be a verbal warning, any following offenses will result in real warnings, too many warnings for any reason will result in a ban, temporary or permanent is up to the admin and severity of rule breaking. If you double post by accident, simply request an admin to remove it for you and no harm is done. NOTE: We have let people break these rules for far too long. Disregarding the rules whether through ignorance or laziness will get you in trouble. So. Don't. Break. The rules. This goes for ALL members, young and old. We will not be going back and taking posts/deleting replies as of this moment due to the trouble it will be to go back several months. Just be forewarned that you cannot 'bump' character descriptions any more. --- Finally while this is not a rule, as you won't get warned for it. This is a common courtesy. If a topic is marked with 'private, reserved, tag', or just a username do not post in it without the topic creator's permission FIRST. Topics with these types of subtitles are meant for one person only, if you wish to find topics open for anyone check Kael's Open topics list in the Character Alliance forum. If you have posted on accident be sure to notify an admin and they will delete the post and the money you gained from that post for you without any punishment. If you do not inform us and the topic starter complains, you will still lose your post and have your reply deleted. And probably get a bad reputation to boot. --- NEW RULES INSTATED AS OF JANUARY 12, 2009. -It is no longer permissible to reply to 'dead' topics. A dead topic shall from this point refer to the following -Any topic posted by a DELETED USER -Any topic that has not had a reply in 3 MONTHS. The only exceptions being if the topic starter is an active user, and they ask for a post or you get permission to continue on with the topic. The REASONS for this are: Bumping topics that are several years old puts them at the top of the active topics list. For newer members who don't check the date and just see a topic with one single reply up on the top of the active topics list may assume its a recent topic. And then these new people leave because they go 'oh well no one replies to me!' without seeing that the topic is only active cause someone else wasn't paying attention or just didn't care and only wanted the post without any commitment to actually RP. Additionally this is to avoid (thank you unnamed users for the advanced warning) users from filling the Active topics list with dead threads just to accumulate gold. Avalon is an RP site. So, go on and actually RP with people! --- In other news: Remember to follow all the rules, and read them every once in awhile for refreshing your memory. It is STILL illegal to use the following items if you have not bought them from our shops. -Weapons -Magic spells and spell containers (THIS INCLUDES so called natural abilities, such as shapeshifting for shifters and lycans, telepathy or elemental control, etc) -Pets of all kinds -Apothecary items -Units or large groups of NPCs (you can RP general NPCs, but you may not use them to take over towns/cities/fight another player without their permission) -Properties such as houses and ships -Any god or guardian follower items. Also please keep in mind that while Avalon is a fantasy site it is also a medieval era RP site, so no modern clothing (that means no jeans, hoodies, zippers and velcro, etc). Any failure to follow any rule will result in warnings. We generally start with Verbal Warning - Official Warning - 5 Official Warnings equals a site wide ban. Depending on which rules are broken during this time or the severity of the rule breaking, a ban can be either temporarily or permanent. Any position holder breaking the rules RISKS LOSING THEIR POSITION, so follow the rules just like anyone else. |
