You bum!

The roll down was a lot of fun, but by the time she had reached the bottom, Cal was covered in dirt stains. Suri and Daeryn had been slow to start, so they were a little behind her. She happened to glance down, and she noticed that the knot on the string that was keeping her wrap tied up was coming undone. Carefully she pulled the string off, pulled the leather around tighter and tied the string around it to keep it in place. "HELLO!?" somebody called. Cal whizzed around, looking for the source of the voice. "IS ANYBODY THERE?" The voice was coming from the huts, and suddenly somebody emerged from behind the closest one. He was an old man, completely grey; his skin, his clothes and his hair all had a greyish tinge to them. When he noticed them he started to run towards them: "Hey, I need help!" |
She's a little monster.

I will be the greatest warrior there ever was!

The old man came out screaming at Cal just as Daeryn reached the bottom of the hill. Through all the shouting and excitement of his own, he had only heard part of the man's cries but was eager to know what was going on. There was no way he couldn't answer the request for help. A great warrior wasn't like that. Besides, this could be the first part of their great adventure! Together, the three of them could help this man and take their first steps towards glory. His first steps towards proving what he was. Reaching where Cal stood, he looked up at the old man's face and noticed that he was genuinely distressed. "What is the matter, good sir? How can we be of assistance?" It felt natural for the boy to take charge, though he reckoned that Cal wouldn't be pleased with it. After all, she seemed to be the leader... |

Taking off down the hill, she tripped over her own ribbon. This sent her tumbling end over end all the way down. Finally a dip in the earth brought her to a halt, and she lay there staring at the sky. It was all spinning! Several giggles and a minute later the earth stopped moving so quickly, and Suri stood. Brushing grass from her clothes, she glanced quickly about to seek out her companions. Oh. There they were! Haisuri gave a little hop before catching up to the two. Her ears twitched irritable at the abrupt shout thrown their way. Looking between her two new friends her head tilted slightly. Finally she turned to Cal, assuming she had all the answers. "Who 's that, what's going on what are we doing?" Flew out her words all at once, the old man forgotten for the time being. At least until Daeryn spoke. |

"I dunno who he is...But he said he needs help," Calya said in reply to Suri's questions. She opened her mouth wide to assure the man that they would help, but Daeryn got in first. Cal frowned, but the spark of annoyance that she felt was quickly quelled by curiosity. When the panting man reached them his face crumpled with surprise and disappointment. "Oh...You're only kids!" he said, giving Cal, the youngest, a cursory glance. His grimace deepened as he caught sight of Suri's ears and the yapping dog by Daeryn's feet. "Who will be a hero and save us now? I dun't suppose you've seen any soldiers near-by? Brave, strong people that could offer help?" He stared hard at Daeryn. "You've got a sword, lad, is your daddy a swordsman? Could he help us?" He shook his head and scratched his chin, flakes of skin flying in all directions. <ooc> Feel free to play the old man. Monsters? Children stolen? Wolves? Pixies? Lotsa fun. (: Edited by Calya, Jan 2 2009, 10:45 PM.

He noticed that he had annoyed Cal, but she seemed not to react to him attempting to take charge. He himself was annoyed when the old man referred to them as 'just children', and once again he spoke up for the group. "We are heroes and I am the swordsman! We will help you!" At first, the old man looked as if he was about to burst out laughing, but he quickly came to realise that the three young adventurers were probably his only hope for any help right now. "Very well," he conceded. "Come, this way! The goblins, they're trying to hurt my children!" he cried, running back towards his hut at breakneck speed. Daeryn looked at Cal, then Haisuri. "Well, this is what we came for, isn't it? Now people will tell about how we saved this village from an army of monsters!" It was an exaggeration, but it didn't matter. Heroes! |

She glanced between her two companions expectantly. When it seemed that Daeryn had a handle on the situation. Haisuri wiggled a bit, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Then the man finally gave in. Goblins! They were now gonna fight goblins! "I ... I'm the rouge!" Yeah, that was right! Sorta ... she didn't think prankster, troublemaker, or former cat statue would sound so good. And her skills, um, she was fast! She could throw things really good and dodge things thrown at her and and. This would be great! Suri stepped out from behind Cal, putting on her bravest pose. "We'll save them! Don't worry!" Then the man took off towards his hut, leaving the trio to follow after him. Haisuri was quick to get going, making sure to avoid the boy's dog as she passed by it. This adventure was starting off with enough action already! |

Cal was incredibly surprised when the man finally gave in, although she was annoyed that he had looked like he was about to laugh. She was so used to being treated like a child and it took her a moment to get over her shock. Goblins? She grinned. They would save the man's children, oh yes they would! Suri stepped out from behind her, looking very courageous, and she was the first to go after the man. Very soon Cal joined her too, limping a little. Her right foot was loose in her boot; she would have to fix it at some point when no-one was looking. Having a wolf's back leg instead of a normal human foot meant that one had to have slightly different boots. With her left hand she clutched at the wrapping around her right one. "C'mon Daeryn, we can't let Suri have all the fun!" |

Daeryn was taken aback by Suri's enthusiasm. Scared of dogs, but willing to go and fight Goblins? He didn't quite understand it. Agreeing with Cal that it would be unfair for Suri to have the most fun (or, rather, take most of the credit), he ran after the two girls attempting to draw his sword as he went, though his short arms made that a little difficult. He ran as fast as he could, but he couldn't catch Haisuri - she was just too fast for him. Out of breath, he reached the man's hut. He could hear noises inside and, for a moment, wondered if this was perhaps too dangerous. Of course, confidence (or perhaps arrogance) quickly took over and he drew the blade from its scabbard, now finding it easier to do so. The sheer weight of the steel blade made him stumble forward. He had never held a sword before... |

Haisuri ... actually ... didn't even know what a goblin was. But she was quite sure she could beat one up easily enough! After all, she could do anything. Perhaps one of these days she'd get to learn her own limitations, but that time was not now. Dust rose up in little flurries at her heels as she came to an abrupt halt at the hut. Glancing quickly at her shoulder to see her friends left eating her dust she tapped a foot waiting for them to arrive. If she didn't know any better she'd say 'humans' were so slow. But she really didn't know what she was either yet. As they finally arrived she realized she'd need a weapon too! Leaning over in the dirt she dug straight down to leave a little pit in the earth before pulling up a jagged rock. It just fit in her palm. |

The clamour that came from the little hut was slightly deterring, but Cal took a deep breath and nodded to her two friends. They looked so gallant, so heroic. Daeryn was holding his shining sword up and Suri had picked up a sharp-looking rock. Cal felt timid and unarmed beside them, but not for long: she darted forward towards the door and took the brush that was leaning against the hut's wall. "Mind if I use this?" she asked and the man shook his head. "Dunno what you kids are gonna do about this...But oh well. The goblins have probably already eaten my children!" The man began to wail loudly and Cal gently pushed him aside. "Don't worry," she said, though the sudden silence that fell inside the hut was even more unnerving than the noises had been. Perhaps they were too late? No! That could not be. Cal leapt forward and pulled the door open. |

Suri's speed was a bit of a shocker, but the thought quickly disappeared from his mind as he watched the two girls arm themselves and get ready to deal with the goblins. He felt the urge to burst through the door, be the first one in and take all of the credit, but suddenly he felt a little uneasy. He'd never fought a goblin, in fact he had never fought anything in his life. But he was a great warrior, so that wouldn't be a problem. At least, that's how he saw it. Cautiously, he followed the brush-armed Cal in to the hut as the racket seemed to fade in to an unsettling silence. Tightening is grip on the sword, to the extent that his knuckles whitened, he tried to speak but could manage only a whisper. "Are we too late? Did the goblins eat them?" He couldn't see anything, but he knew they were there... |

Tossing the sharp rock from hand to hand, she was comfortable in its weight. Though she didn't know any methods of fighting, how hard could throwing a rock be? Dirty hands would settle the stone in one palm as she wrapped her fingers to close about it. Glancing towards the hut the statue turned human would rock on her heels a bit. Despite the possible dangers the hut may hide, she tiptoed up to the door. Her head tilted as she listened to the commotion inside. It then got quiet. That was bad, right? Suri was uncertain, but there was little time to ask questions as the other girl threw open the door. The three of them stepped inside, their weapons at the ready. "I see something!" Cried Suri as she took a step forward and chucked the rock blindly into the room. Something gave a thud at the impact. |
