The night drew ever closer to midnight as the cool winds blew through the dense canopy of trees overhead. With it the vibrate orange and red leaves came loose, fluttering about the careless winds before inevitably reaching an end at the ground below. Sadly it were an end to be nothing more then ground cover as the sole of a shoe came down apon it, pressing it further into the ground. Again, another sole came down, smaller more fragile, none the less harsh to the leaf. All the same as the two figures walked the stretch of night in silence.

“For some time hath it been since last rested, child. Are thy spirits strong enough to last much longer or should it be left to rest?” Julian mocked his human companion as they walked. The autumn leaves rustled at his feet as he continued on, the faint scent of rotting plant life lingering about the air. The scent that most mortals found so compelling during this time of year. Had they senses even half as his, would they find it so appealing still? You vampires, minds ablaze with thought over simple things night in and night out. No wonder your kind has never really amounted to much Jaquel coined in, interrupting the fragile train of thought as they continued on.

It was only now he remembered the very thing he had mocked his companion about only moments ago as he turned to her now and grinned coyly. “Truly child, you do seem the death of us both. Should not ye take this time to rest?” He then chuckled lightly as his hand rose to brush a few fallen strands of hair from De’Anon’s face, an absent minded response that he did not plan…just merely did. “Mortals are not accustomed to such endeavors at night so do not pretend to say that ye are not suffering...” his hand then drew back as though he finally became consciously aware of what it were he had done the faint sight of amusement fading from him as he turned away, acting as though nothing had happened. “…after all child, the departure was somewhat sudden.”

Truth be told he had left ahead of schedule; the moon was still within the waxing period. Full moon would not be for another week, but then he had not planned that she would need more then a short time to draw of the lands elements. He also didn’t know just how harsh the epicenter of this fabled land lost between seasons would be either. They were drawing near though, even with autumn’s death stagnant in the air he could catch the faint scent of spring whisking past from time to time. “Perhaps we should stop here for the night….just until ye are accustomed to travel within this time.” He then said, not turning to her as the golden hue of his eyes surveyed the landscape while arms crossed over his chest absently in thought…

Wrapping the cloak around her tightly she shivered a little each time the wind blew. How had it gotten so damn cold suddenly? De' Anon wondered as she huffed into her cupped hands trying to keep them warm. Better yet why hadn't the damn fool told her it would get this cold in the first place as she looked to the vampires back with malice before letting out a sigh. "Not that I could have prepared better anyhow." her hands now sliding under her arms as she once again lowered her head allowing the hood of her cloak to take the brunt of the chilled wind as they continued on. She then muttered to herself in frustration "Only a undead fiend could enjoy such weather at this time of night." as another shiver crept through her body.

As the question then came from the creature a different shiver stirred in her, the kind that was like being caught by surprise. Not startled really, but that unexpected realization you could say as she replied quietly "Nay, I have been through worse this is but a mild inconven...." her words ended suddenly as he turned, startling more so this time as she stopped dead in her tracks. The hand that grazed her skin wasn't the same as the night in the library, rather then a cold unnatural touch there was warmth to his skin. Almost as if he were not really a creature of the night at all, but this illusion was shattered by those piercing eyes. Eyes that instantly spoke of just what he really was, a demon in human clothing. Just another illusion so that they could hide among them and take what they needed without any being the wiser. The momentary lapse of just how far they could take this illusion seemed to fade however as his hand drew away from her and the compassion that had been in his words turned into more of an excuse.

Confused by the strange transition of his behavior she decided to agree for now, after all she was tired and cold. If she was lucky maybe they could take a long enough rest to build a fire and possibly give her at least a chance to ask a few questions of just what was supposed to be out here that was important to her. "If you insist, then so be it. Would a fire be too much to ask for certainly I shall not seek any warmth from thee. My luck ye would just bare thy fangs again." As she remembered the stiffness that was still in her neck from the bite not too long before. Why she had even agreed to follow the likes of such a creature were beyond her, but she couldn't pass up the chance that what he had to show her might actually be of worth.

Arching his brow the golden pupils focused on her from over his shoulders, a look of annoyance as the fetures of his face became void of emotion or interest while sighing. Of how much shall we endure of this mortal child pest? To what means must we draw the game out for a conclusion? the lingering annoyance filtered through the echoing hallows of his mind to the demon, the true nature of this forest even escaping him. The fever already clouding the truce the vampire had struck with the demon within as the amusement in such a task were fleeting at best.

Patience Julian, not all plans are as entertaining as you would wish them to be. The demon answered, a faint tone of malice laced in the echoed words only he could hear. His eyes then widened faintly as the fever played the ever so constant trick of projection, the vision of his demon possessed self clinging to De'Anon, tips of the fingers trailing about her facial markings as he continued to speak If so you wish however, we could play the game of romance with her, hmm? Surely she is not so off setting as to be unattractive. as the illusion of his demonic self kissed her cheek then grinned coyly seeing how this seemed to rattle Julian to the core causing his eyes to divert from her to avoid this trick.

"No, so ye should not seek comfort from such as I..." he muttered in response, his being shaking faintly as he attempted to regain control of the fragil emotions that had been stired by the inner demons vivid display. He need to get away from her for now, and what better way then to gather kindle to warm the mortal? Even though he had fed, the barriers that once kept the demon at bay seemed to no longer serve their purpose leaving him only to ignore that part of himself. oh, poor boy. Did I offend you? Was only a suggestion Julian...after all I am just as uninterested as ye in this task, but it is something that must be done...Silence pest, thy game surpasses even my own evil heart.

Julian then lifted the tips of his fingers to his temples as though aggitated from some form of headache as he said to De'Anon without turning to her. "Find place of comfort child, the rotted shalt be gathered to be cleansed for thy comfort so ye may rest." His words cold and heartless as he departed from her to gather kindle for a fire. Even a fevered mind could remember how to start a fire...but not from nothing. He then stopped a few feet from her as he then said as though to reassure her "This venture is far from over, if ye can not trust this momentary departure then ye should return from wence we came..." With that he continued on as his figure was swallowed by the surrounding darkness of the woods to leave her to this early choice as it were.

However dark the night seemed about them, it never seemed dark enough to shadow those eyes of his. Surely the shadow the nearing full moon cast through the canopy onto his facial features didn't help her nerves either. Confidence in her choice to follow him seemed to waiver seeing this side of the vampire, the uneasiness that trailed about her body like that of prey realizing danger were close. Why is he glaring, were it something I spoke? as her eyes diverted from him while trying to withdraw further into her cloak for warmth. Even though she had insulted him, had this not been normal since first meeting in the library?

Her thoughts were interupted as he responded, his voice distant and faint causing her to look to him again. She noticed that he had diverted his eyes also, making it easier to face him. Still thinking she had offended him she tried to speak "Julian, thy..." but the words were cut off as he had already moved the conversation forward. She wasn't sure what he ment by finding a place of comfort, she could hardly see in this little of light as it were, but that didn't seem to matter to the vampire as he had already started to walk away from her, the filtering moon light no longer aided her in see him at this point, but his voice she still heard and nodded to unsure exactly what she were supposed to do. Was he leaving her, or was this a chance to reconsider the initial chioce to follow someone she did not entirely trust?

The wind once more blew through the trees causing her to shiver once again as dishevled ribbons of her auburn strands danced against her face from under the hood of her cloak. Sighing in frustration she moved behind one of the larger oaks of this miss matched forest of varied trees in order to shelter herself from the chill of the wind until the vampire returned. "Whatever he hath to so eagerly show, it best be worth this torment." she fussed while sitting down behind the tree, legs drawn up close to her as she hugged her knees. So far this little excursion had been rather uncomfortable, not only due to the cold but the idiot had come sooner then he had promised. She had not had time to shift her sleep to adjust to night travel and were beyond miserable due to how tired she felt. She couldn't see the sky clearly through the trees, but she could guess it were fairly late at this point, possibly even beyond midnight. Placing her forehead then against her knees she closed her eyes, the heaviness of them making this feel comfortable, even in the situation she was in now. Even if it were only for a short time, perhaps she could take a long enough nap just to get her through this night while waiting for Julian to return. The sound of the wind were also soothing to her nerves now that it was no longer hitting her directly, causing her conciousness to fade as she gave into the awkward comfort and drifted into sleep.

The woods echoed with the sound of rushing water as the wind past through the remaining leaves that spotted the branches. What he had heard of this place were true however, that the weather were always the mimic of which ever season one stumbled into. Julian wondered how much further they had to go till the center of this fabled forest came to sight. Not so much was the reason that the night were fading away, as it was that the demon was more active in him then normal. Able to even cast it's self a shadowed illusion to only torment him further. His anger churned within his mind as he mindlessly gathered what would be needed to start a fire with, but with the wind so active it would be a bit of a task to do so without spreading or simply extinguishing the flame before it had a chance to grow.

"To think one would care of such when it is not in need of. Only a child would come to such lands ill prepared.." he muttered to himself as he thought of the light cloth De'Anon had come in. Was that all the mortal had with her, or had she not thought they would come through such weather. Either way it annoyed him as he continued to gather the kindle he would require. More and more it was becoming apparent, regardless of what took place, this temporary companion of his were not much beyond a mortal. "...such a bothersome child." The wind then swirled about the area lifting leaves from the ground up into the air as Julian looked to the sky, the waxing gibbius of the moon shrouded between the clouds only reaffirmed the instablity of the lands weather, but where there were clouds ment there was rain...or possibly even snow near by. With a smirk he turns to the way he had come from to once more join De'Anon. Perhapes a night or two of travel were still ahead of them, but for now he would humor the mortal and try to gain what little trust he could.

'There are easier ways to gain trust then to pamper them Julian.' the demon coined him, picking up on his intentions, but wanting to spurn them further. 'Face it, with what little happiness you could ever hope for, forever there will also be sadness. Tis the existance of what we now are. At least try to be more entertaining on this journey, you already know which fate she is destined for in the end after all.' a faint laugh echoed within his mind with these words, but not as maliciously as they had previously. There was something the demon was failing to mention to Julian at this time, but he wasn't sure of it nor had he the patience to put up with it's rambling at this time.

"Even so, what ye wish is vile..." Julian replied half heartedly as he neared where he had left De'Anon "Speak no more of it." his voice trailing to a whisper as he passed her sleeping against the tree. Julian figured he would let her rest for now as his cleared a small area of leaves so that he could build a fire. Gathering some stones he found about the area he built a small area to trap the fire in so as to avoid any accidents with the wind acting up as it was. After a short while, and a few failed attempts, the fire was now burning. The small task completed Julian sat next to De'Anon to block the wind as his eyes once more looked to the sky, the moon now to his back. "Sleep well child, there is much ahead of ye still."

In her slumber the coldness that lingered about her body caused her to dream of the cold nights she had spent buried in books of all sorts. How she could scarce concentrate on the incantations and placement of runes while trying to warm herself by rubbing her arms or legs. About this time the distant words of her master would gather her attention as he build a fire in the corner of the room. The way the middle-aged man struggled to start a fire under normal means used to make her giggle knowing that he could easily start the fire if he inscribed the rune of heat, a fire rune encompassed by lesser wind runes. Afterwords he would usually sit next to her and help her study the texts by giving small demonstrations as he taught her.

As Julian sat next to her she instinctively drew closer to him, her head resting against his shoulder with a faint smile of comfort. Though she knew she were only dreaming, the warmth Julian's body emitted from feeding was enough to make it almost seem real. Had it not been for the abstract order of words in the books she would almost believe the lie, letting her worry and sorrow for the loss of her master drift away. The warmth from the fire also had started to reach her as well, but it was hardly enough to ease the over all chill she felt each time the wind blew. Opening her eyes for a moments, the hazy view of the small flames dancing about illuminating the trees she asked, still half asleep "Molto sconosciuto andare all'esterno..... È caldo nella stanza...."

Drawing closer still to Julian she had not realized that she momentarily awoke as she drifted back to sleep. In her dream she spoke to her master of the strange twist of events her life had taken since he had died. To it the person could only chuckle and pat her head before continuing the lessons she had learned so long ago. Even if he wasn't real, it still comforted her to be able to still see master in her dreams.

The flicker of the flames lept about, dancing to the sway of the wind as Julian allowed his concentration to slip. The whispers of his victims grew slightly as several of them conversed with one another. Others cried in agony while seeking answers to questions that did not matter, but none of it was expressly important to him. Instead he slipped into the depth of his mind, the one place to which he and the demon could speak. The darkest region of his mind that held something that could now no longer be found save the hatred of the demon, and a profound dispair that weighted him like that of an inescapable sin.

'This one wonders, menace. Shalt flow of power be forced...or summoned or shalt the figures of stone be that of corruption.' he inquired from Jaquel, the only other figure who paced the room as though distracted. Had the demon not noticed his entrance? Jaquel scratched at a damaged rune about his neck, aggrivating the projected wound which seemed rather curious. With a listless sigh Julian figured the demon were scheming the play of this game, either way seeking to draw any amusement from it would yield little. It was about now the muffled words De' Anon spoke in her sleep pierced the depths causing him to once more become attentative.

At this point he noticed that the woman had begun to draw closer to him, the words made little sense to him even though the language he understood. He could only figure that she were dreaming, but her actions seemed to be that of a pleasent one. This made him rather uncomfortable, but all he could do was endure the mortals actions. The inaction however only brought about boredom, his mind slipping once more to listen to the whispering chaos of his mind like listening to little devils or angels about him. Absently this lead him to also spin the silver ring about the middle finger of his left hand. The only thing that drew him away from this is the further advance this temporary pawn continued to make in her sleep. Had he known feeding before their departure would cause this he would rather have stayed chilled. with annoyance he began to call to her, would be better to keep on the move rather then endure this.

"Awaken child" As he shifted his shoulder to arouse her from what ever it were she were dreaming. "Least ye care to fancy this one like that of a necrophiliac...." lifting his hand to where she had begun to hold his arm, he removed her hands while continuing to stir her awake. "..be no more a pest and awaken child least ye wish to be bitten next."

In her dream her master had began to pace the room as he used to do while lecturing her on the use of magics. It made her chuckle knowing that she used to despise this and take it for granted, but lecturing and actually practicing had their place which she now understood. Simply tracing a rune of fire, but no essence to embrace it were meaningless, much like a candle with no wick. Though he lectured, his words were not streaming together, as though she could only recall bits and pieces of various ones she had heard in the past, making the dream a little amusing. Suddenly he stopped however, his voice then carried a hint of anger or annoyance as he spoke.

"Awaken child. Least ye care to fancy this one like that of a necrophiliac...." her master had begun to approach her as these words were uttered. His hands at her shoulders as though to be sure she understood. This was not something she had experienced, the dream was no longer a thing of comfort as the pupils of his eyes burned away to a golden glow, a sinister smile crossing lips as they melded to that of a younger appearance which soon took on Julian's form. This was when she realized the vampire were trying to wake her, the tone of his voice recognized now as he uttered the threat to bite should she not wake.

With a start she moved away from Julian, her vision blurred as she tried to regain some familiarity with her surroundings. A fire burned in front of her, small but serving it's purpose. Looking to the vampire she saw the annoyance on his face, but as she recalled the words he said she couldn't refrain from hitting his arm in anger.

"Ye art a vile creature to say such things, as if thee could fill such a role to be seen in such light." callously said as she took to compose herself by moving away from him while bundling into her cloak further. "To awaken a lady with such filth on thy lips...ye should not have neared a lady in her sleep either. Ye had filthy intentions to do so..."

Her words stopped as she looked to the sky in search of any constellations or even the moon to try and place some frame of time to the length of her nap. Either the moon were behind them, or a cloud had hidden it from her sight, either way she was not able to think of this herself, but certainly it had been some time. The way in which the fire had been built, and the extent of which the wood had burnt certainly meant she had been asleep at least an hour or longer. With a sigh she then asked the vampire, anger still in her voice from how she had been awaken "This place which we travel to, of how much further till there? Should not ye seek shelter for certainly daybreak will occur before finished."

Her callous tone of voice was like that of a comedic venue which only brought the opposite effect the words surely ment, a smile cracked along his lips. The fact that she called herself a lady and that he had filthy intentions were like telling a wolf that it were a good keeper of sheep, but should not eye them like the meal they were. Whether his interpretation of the accusations matched her intentions he could care less, but that it created such a humorous display were enough to him. However, his moods were unstable as ever as he then quickly grasped the cloak she sought warmth from, then drew her close soon after her question were placed.

"That such a child belay concern of this one. Surely art thy cheeks to be stained for a heart so moved..." the cloth clenched in his fist at her throat as the hood fell back casting light along the features of her face. The smile once more crepted back, words but a whisper that hardly carried over the wind "...pitter-pat, pitter-pat child, trickle and streak. Peril be part of thy journey, experience what it is to know that which ye would fear girl. Ye art soft of resolve, discontent....confusion. Answers shalt come once ready and not any sooner."

Absently, his hand caressed the skin of her cheek as he let the warmth sink away from his own skin. A trick he had learned well, tuaght unto him by the menace within which she still did not know of. A reminder to her that she was little else to him, but that of mortal. Even if she had an extended life span it was little in comparison to the perversion his body had undergone to take on the passage of time, and he would sooner remind her of this then to let her try to draw close to him again. The smile then faded to a sneer as he released her and stood. The sole of his boot then took to smother the flames as he growled to her in distast knowing that what she had asked was indeed true, he had to get to the sheltered area they would stay the day at before daybreak. "Be gathered child, time is fleeting and uncertainty calls thy guide once more."

The rate at which the vampires emotions shifted startled her, especially to be drawn near with little warning so quickly. Certainly the dangers that he represented were being relayed, the chill of his skin and abnormal reactions were enough to rattle any she would guess. Though her lips meant to move, form words, no voice came the fear apparent in her eyes as Julian spoke. That he cared to have no concern be voiced, whether in anger or compassion, only confused her more. It was near to the point she did not know how to deal with Julian, treat him like a crude companion or that of vile creature, she didn't know. Either elicited abnormal reactions, usually anger or annoyance.

The more De'Anon thought of this, the more she wondered. Just what did the vampire gain from this? And if nothing then what reason did he have to lead her on such a journey that lacked visible direction? She dared not ask these for fear that his anger would only peak rather then her curiosity be satisfied. Instead she drew the hood of the cloak to cover her once more, the light of the fire extinguishing to nothing more then glowing embers.

Once more the darkness had encompassed her with not even the pale glow of the moon to aid her as she stood at Julian's beckoning. She could scarce see her feet, let alone the ground about them as she saw the embers flicker in and out of sight as Julian moved about. Trying to clear her throat she reached outwards blindly trying to locate the texture of his clothing while whispering as though trying to hide from a predator.

"Please wait Julian....there be not th' light t' guide my steps. Thy eyes be not as gifted at night." her hand groping about listlessly as she spoke, only the embers at her feet and faint features of the stones encircled about them were visible to here in this darkness. Surely if Julian sought to leave her now she would easily be unable to follow, after all she still had no reason to why he were here and only her initial curiosity had caused her to follow him.
