The Land of Avalon is a freeform medieval/fantasy roleplaying site loosely based on Arthurian lore. Fighting Staff: This staff is a lightweight weapon, and is easily used to battle. Commonly used by monks, this staff is made of nothing but pure wood and is easy to wield. Once per thread, the user may use the 'Burst of Speed' ability, which bestows them the effects of the 'Speed' spell for the duration of three of their own consecutive posts.

Crushing Darkness: The caster draws the evil and corruption of the surroundings, focusing it on their enemy. High damage against light and good-aligned creatures, effect is lessened against others.

Curse: Changes the element of any weapon, armor or spell to darkness. Affected weapons/spells will do great damage to angels, as well as those aligned with the light - paladins, priests, etc. When used on armor, resistance to burning, freezing and electrocution increases greatly, but the target becomes extremely weak against light magic. The damage received from physical attacks - cuts, impacts, etc. - is also increased a little.

Eclipse: Magically drains all natural light from a large area, including physical light sources created with magic (Fires, etc.). This makes using conventional vision impossible, even those with low-light sight will not be able to see anything. Those within the affected range, including the caster, will have to rely on other means of finding their way around. Can be temporarily broken with the 'Flash' spell.

Energy Drain: When the caster touches the flesh of a target, it can drain energy from the target and give it to the caster.

Shadow Spew: Emits a stream of choking darkness from the palm, causing severe magical damage (Increased power when used against angels, paladins, priests, etc.). Can also be made by combining 'Flamethrower' and 'Curse'.

Shadow Veil: The caster turns into a literal shadow, enabling themselves to move freely without detection or obstruction.

Blur: Blurs the vision of anyone within a twenty foot radius, excluding the caster, making it hard to see.

Night Sight: This spell allows one to look through the dark and see clearly.

Confusion: When this spell is used, it confuses the mind of the one used on. This lasts for a minimum of two posts.

Decay: Destroys the target's cell structure gradually, causing the skin and other tissue to die away (Takes several seconds for initial effects to show). The caster's hand/s must be in direct physical contact with the target in order to use the spell, and it only affects the area being touched while the grasp is maintained.

Wall: A solid barrier of crystal forms before the caster. This crystal is sturdy, but can be destroyed given enough effort; it will remain standing for a minimum of two posts even when suffering concentrated attack.

Battle Rune: Enables the wearer to carry one fighter ability, regardless of how many spells they have in their possession. The rune must be in direct contact with a character (Or at least, their clothes/armour) for them to be able to use the ability. Limit one per character.
