Adrianne stumbled and just about fell as she reached the enterance to the abandoned castle. She could still hear the milita behind her, yet a grin was spread across her face. They seemed further away, and when they returned to their posts would likely be more alert, all the better to tire themselves out fpr when she decided to make her next play. As her gaze rose back up to the castle her grin widened further. It seemed completely deserted, and a great place to hide out until her pursuers left her. With that she ran up the first flight of stairs she could see. But as she movd her body, the door slammed shut, giving off a signal that would likely be heard for miles around. The sudden unexpected noise caused her to jerk upwards in mid stride and tumble back down the stair. Not only had she injured herself, but now her pursuers would know roughly where she was. So she did the only natural thing in this situation. She cussed, loudly. "Dark and empty!" A phrase that while not meaning much, still gave her a feeling of intense pleasure to say, it also seemed to relieve some of the bars of her anger that prevented her from thinking clearly. Picking herself back off the ground, she acted with more haste than she before, pushing a heavy set of drawers in an attempt to barricade the door before rushing back up the stairwell again. |

And once again, Glorfindel of the White Blood was here, perched across his throne after taking the dilapidated castle of Indrea in the rundown, haunted ruins of the city of Indrea as his base to operate out of and establish his sanctuary to execute and plot his Master's: Reman Monotheril, the Warlock of the North, imminent return. So far, he had gathered a few slaves to his cause via his own ingenuity and "delicate persuasion". Now, it seemed there was another sheep flocking to his cause, if unwilling and inadvertedly. Through use of the Dark Prince's, Glorfindel's possessing demon and servant of Reman, powerful augments to his own considerable magical prowess, Glorfindel had taken complete control of the ghosts and other spectres haunting this castle ruin that drove many away. Now, they served as his eyes and ears throughout the small town and the castle, informing their master of anything interesting. It was one particular spirit that told him of an elven woman appearing twenty-one years of age, though this was probably deceiving as Glorfindel himself was over nine thousand years old and appeared in his mid-twenties himself, had entered the grounds, with a local militia on her tail. However, these villagers stopped at the gates of the haunted city, knowing full well of the malevolent spirits haunting this place, and fled, resolving that this ignorant girl would fall prey to the spirits. Yes, she would fall prey to something, but it wouldn't be ghosts. Her leather-clad feet came quickly toward his grand door. She may not have known it, but he was drawing her to his throne room, ready to pounce. When she entered, she would cast her eyes upon the dimly lit room, with Glorfindel seated in his throne, one leg over one arm as he rested against the other. "I welcome you", he greeted when she entered his presence, "to my humble abode. Make yourself.....at home." |

As she kept running, Adrianne saw several potential good places to hide, but she simply passed them by with a glance, as soon as she thought about it she would always see one tiny flaw that compromised it. Perhaps it was too obvious as a hiding spot to the trained eye, or maybe it left a small section unconcealed. Regardless of what it was something was always wrong. Instead, she kept running until she reached a grand door, and she had a feeling that she'd find what she was looking for behind it, she chalked up the feeling as intuition. It had often worked well for her before, why stop now. But as it was, she was dead wrong. She slowly, and as silently as was possible, opened the door and slipped through it. However, from the angle that she entered, all that she could see was the room itself, and in her frantic yet ecstatic state she missed the man sitting in the throne on her first cursory inspection. One the door was closed she took a more detailed look, trying to find a hiding spot. What she found instead was so much more interesting though. Her eyes were drawn to this man, his presence defied the very nature of the place, he was life in an area of desolation, odd. Where did he gain sustenace from? She hadn't seen any suggestion that supplies were being brought in, but then again, maybe she'd mised it. She took in his appearance. He seemed handsome enough, although the large sword was certainly a but offputting, and made her begin to regret her lack of weaponry, she should have thought to at least try and steal a hatchet from one of those militiamen back there, while she knew a little about unarmed combat, she was nowhere near being concidered skilled at it. If this came to a fight, she was going to have to rely on her throwing knives, or find another weapon elsewhere. His clothing was strange, she hadn't seen anything like it before. But whatever it was, it was stylish, and seemed to suit him well. As she began to tie her cloak back together he spoke. At this point she finished putting her cloak back together and leaned against the wall before replying in a suprisingly nervous voice. "Um...Thank you. I'm afraid that I can't stay here for very long, I've got some pressing issues at the moment, maybe I'll visit you again sometime later." She felt tempted to simply pull open the door there and then and simply rush through it, but that could cause some problems. As that would obviously look suspicious, even to someone as insane as this man appeared. Instead she just stood there, waiting for his responce.[R4E]Aquired real weapons[/R4E] Edited by Adrianne, Oct 8 2008, 09:17 PM.

"The militia persuing you broke off their chase when you entered the gates of this city", stated Glorfindel factually, sitting up and then leaning forward in his throne, "Any that had the guts to continue past there were too frightened by the sight of this castle to even contemplate going through the front gates." Removing White Blood from his throne, he hooked the sheathe on his back with the baldric across his chest. Standing, he gestured to a grand table in a corner near the door, piled with foods prepared by Glorfindel himself. "So please, accept my hospitality", he offered, his eyes twinkling in a way that would be seen as kindly, but one with a practiced eye might see the malevolent shadow stirring behind them, "Remove your boots, sit at my table. It is not often that I get to entertain guests. I insist." Glorfindel came down the steps leading up to his throne and his boot heels hit the ground with a click and continued as such until he came to his table and stood by the ornate chair at the head. Gesturing to a soft chair beside his own, Glorfindel bowed his head respectfully to the woman. He was still something of a gentleman, at least. "I must inquire as to your name", asked Glorfindel. |

As he spoke the first few of his lines, Adrianne's suspicions suddenly grew. She'd known many assassins to use supersticions to hide their base of opperations. But, how did he know exactly what had happened? Perhaps from past experience. But those experiences might not always be correct. but he seemed to have more than enough confidence in their actions for himself, so either they'd done the very same thing many times before, or he could handle himself. Either way, if her assumptions were correct, she might be able to use him in her next attempt to enter Seraraye. So she smiled, all the while thinking of ways in which she could gain his compliance. But then he gave her his request, and it was a strange one. Remove her boots? Why? While the food did seem tempting there really was something strange about this. However, her mind's resistance to magic, as well as hindering her own spellcasting, also blinded her to the shadow manifesting behind Glorfindel's eyes. While she didn't remove her boots [She'd simply argue that it was too cold for that if he pressed the point] she did walk over to the seat that he offered her, and scanned the food layed out there. Taking an apple from the outlaying she then took a fruit knife from the table and quartered it. Something didn't feel right, and she /was/ going to look this gift horse in the mouth. Before eating any of it herself she offered him a segment. If he took it, she'd eat the rest of it, if he didn't she'd continue her act of offering him portions of the overall piece until he finally did eat something. While she didn't like the idea, poisoners still existed. The entire practice seemed a bit dishonerable, even to her. At least those that killed with a blade saw the blood of their mark and realised what they had done, those that sheltered themselves from the guilt she concidered cowards. As she offered him the apple segment, Adrianne decided that a direct approach would work well, and so her responce to his inquiry was simple and to the point, well, apart from the alias. "I'm Allana, and I might be a potential employer. You wouldn't be interested in some quiet work would you Mr...?" She left the name to hang, hoping that he'd complete it for her, despite the fact that if she was right about him it'd likely be false regardless. |

"Glorfindel", he answered, plucking the apple segment from her hand and consuming it, "Glorfindel of the House of White Blood. This is my home, a fixer-upper but it's practical." When she hadn't removed her boots, Glorfindel knew that she was suspicious of this place. It was more than warm here to make walking barefoot comfortable. The militia at her back had left. The first thing this woman would've liked to do is relax. However, judging by the way she'd warily looked at him and at the area, she could tell something was up. Then again, the pointed ears and fair skin pointed to her being an Elf, either of the Wood or High breed, even though she was remarkably plain for an elf, a rare occurence. When she offered him part of an apple as he'd sidled down to feast upon a smoke-cooked turkey, Glorfindel's reading of her expression indicated that she was suspicious of his food, probably suspecting poison. So, to make sure she would relax somewhat, he took and consumed the piece. Maybe it would work, maybe it wouldn't. She was still suspicious, however. She gave him a false name. A glint in her eyes seemed to indicate some form of deception, at least. "Allana", mused Glorfindel, rolling his tongue to produce the desired effect, "Interesting name for a plain-looking elf", he muttered, knowing she might hear it if she was on the lookout, "What kind of work are you proposing to me, Miss.....Allana, was it?" |

As Glofindel seemed so sure that the food that he'd prepared wasn't poisoned. Adrianne seemed visibly less tense once he consumed the portion of the apple she'd given him. She then consumed the rest of the apple ravenously, she hadn't realised how hungry she'd been. She'd had enough money to purchase some food, but hadn't even been able to get into the city to spend it. He seemed interested in her offer though. So she'd be happy to elaborate for him, although she almost raised an eyebrow at his statement about her name before she realised that she hadn't been meant to hear it. "Yes, you heard correctly, it's Allana, I'm not sure how you'll take my offer though. It's somewhat morally questionable. Do you think you could keep a secret?" As she'd been speaking she'd been taking pieces of the other sustenance on the table. It seemed as if she was completely unaware of the fact that she herself had just stumbled apon a much greater secret. |

"Allana, huh? I see", Glorfindel slithered, carefully turning over his thoughts as she proposed a job to him, "Sure, I could keep a secret. Just so long as you decide to keep a secret, too, Miss.....Allana, right?" Glorfindel played with the alias she gave him. He had no intention of taking her job or her secret, but he'd resolved himself to humor her for a time before he would strike. Indeed, this one would have to be dealt with like he'd done with all the others. She had found his hideout, if inadvertently, and his need to preserve his secrecy would spur Glorfindel to have to capture and break this one, even if she was strong-willed as she appeared. Glorfindel tore into a smoked turkey-leg, savoring the sheer flavor from the method used to cook it. Meanwhile, he took a swig of fine Idian win as he sat back to hear this so-called "secret" that this "Allana" had to tell him. Bah! Secret. It was entirely probable that her secret was nothing in comparison to the one held by Glorfindel, the Dark Prince, and this castle itself. |

"That's good, I'm perfectly capable of keeping a secret. I assume that you don't want your identity and location known. That's perfectly fine by me. As you can see, I'm likely on as bad terms with the authorities as you are, and other than your name I don't really know much about who you are." The fact that he kept stumbling over her name annoyed her, and she simply responded to the question with silence and a slight, nearly imperceptable leer. She took a another piece of fruit, a pomegranite. She took a bite into it, it tasted wonderful, it seemed that the likelyhood of an attack was negligable, but while the tension in her body had disipated, she was still a little bit nervous, but it didn't show. There was something about him that was just off. It remided of her of the after she'd left the hells. He seemed to share several of the traits of those who'd rescued her, but she knew how deceiving those appearances could be. Afterall, she'd almost lost her soul to those shades. "Well, my request is similar, if you could just promise that you wont mention this job to anyone, I'd greatly appeciate that; and now, the work that I was proposing may seem a little morally questionable. Vaugely, I need someone dead, but I've managed to get chased off and lost my cosmetics. So I've oly got one more face that the authorities wont recognise. I'll wont give you the details of it unless you choose to accept it, as this way I wont have to kill you. |

"Well, Miss.....Allana, again", inquired Glorfindel with a cynical tone, implying he knew she had been playing him, "I'm afraid I cannot accept this job. You see, I serve a much more advanced master than you. He is known as Reman Monotheril, a great Warlock who tore a great Elven kingdom asunder sometime ago. He is coming back to this world, and I cannot have anyone know where I am. So, you see, I plan to capture you and make sure you will not leave this place. I suggest that you simply do the smart thing and surrender to me. If you don't, we'll have a big fight which you'll lose, at which point I'll capture you and you'll suffer even worse pain than you'll possibly imagine. I really hope you do the right thing. No amount of hidden weapons you must have on your person will defeat me!" Glorfindel smiled, showing his rows of demonically pointed teeth as he reached back and drew White Blood from its sheathe. Glorfindel stood up, too, getting ready in case she struggled. If she did, well, he didn't like using violence, but he wouldn't mind using it. |

As Glorfindel spoke she seemed disappointed, but only mildly to begin with. She'd intended to do this alone wen she'd accepted it, and maybe she still would. But then he spoke of his master, and a slight chill came on her, and she suddenly got very nervous. But then he drew the enourmous Zweihander from his back, and she knew he was going to try and kill her. Adrenaline began to flow, and before he managed to draw the cumbersome weapon, she'd already hurled the remains of the pomegranate at his face and drawn a throwing knife from up her sleeve. Tearing a portal into the shadows under the table with the shadow artifact, she then hurled herself through it onto the other side of the room. Creating a decent distance from which to conduct her actions. She also hurled a pair of the titanium knives at Glorfindel with the uncanny accuracy only to be expected from an elf, aiming at the largest region of his body. The chest. |

She disappeared and then reappeared at the other side of the room. She withdrew two knives and hurled them at him. They came straight for his chest. All the while, Glorfindel laughed at her efforts. Laughed at her determination. He laughed at her as a person, whether an elf or not. The half-eaten fruit bounced harmlessly off of White Blood's blade, which had been raised to protect himself. Before they hit him, Glorfindel seemed to vanish into thin air, as if it was consuming his body and eating him alive. The knives clattered to the ground when they hit the stone floor, bouncing along. They hit nothing. Glorfindel soon reappeared, standing behind Adrianne with White Blood held close to her neck, daring her to make another move. "Feel free to try and attack me. Do so, and you'll discover why I am feared by all of my opponents", he hissed into her ear, "You don't get it, do you? This situation is hopeless. What do you hope to accomplish? You barred the door behind you. You're on the run. If you leave this place, you'll simply be hunted. If you surrender, then I promise to try and treat you with some dignity and respect. Continue to resist, however, well, you'll learn as it happens. Now, place your hands behind your back and surrender. I really don't want this unneccessary fight to continue." As Glorfindel vanished, Adrianne tore a portal next to her, while remaining on her guard, ready to step through it at a moment's notice, she also took hold of one of the ruby knives. As Glorfindel suddenly reappeared she manuvered her knife to interpose itself between the larger blade and her neck. If he exerted too much force, it would hurt, but instead of decapitating her it would push her through the invisible portal that would close behind her, and she had another advantage she could use. She quickly moved her left hand behind her back, and drew one of her titanium throwing knives from there before deftly throwing it at him. The advantage of throwing weapons was that they traveled faster the harder you threw them, unlike bows which had a limited draw length, and she threw it hard at almost point blank range. In addition she also replied to his statement, potentially drawing his attention to her face. "If I surrender you'll what? Kill me cleanly? I'm afraid that I don't want to die just yet, cleanly or otherwise, even if it means a painful and messy death opposed to a merciful one, I don't really care. Just so long as I leave an impression on someone. You might kill me, but maybe not before I hurt you." Obviously her irritation to her action of barricading the door had made her forget about magical compultions, and anyone willing to take someone prisinor for simply meeting them was probably going to want to remove all evidence, and that included death. |

Glorfindel stepped to the side of the elf woman's throwing knife, though it punctured through his red leather jacket and remained lodged within. However, she'd offset the advantage he'd sought when he came up behind her. She had placed a knife between his blade and her throat, thus nullifying the threat. "If I surrender you'll what? Kill me cleanly? I'm afraid that I don't want to die just yet, cleanly or otherwise, even if it means a painful and messy death opposed to a merciful one, I don't really care. Just so long as I leave an impression on someone. You might kill me, but maybe not before I hurt you." "Kill you if you surrender? Nay", retorted Glorfindel, slowly circling around the room with the elf, "I do not wish to kill those who give themselves up willingly. I may be a demon, but I still possess manners and decency. No, if you surrender and place your hands behind you, I will give you proper accomidation. I only wish that you will, because if you don't.....then you'll suffer something like THIS!" With his exclaimation, Glorfindel burst forward, White Blood held at the ready. His toes skirting along the stone, a bright red light surrounded his zweihander in a spinning vortex, as if it was breaking the mach. Getting within distance, Glorfindel thrust his blade forward with a bright flash of red, sending both his blade and an onrush of pure energy toward the elf in his mighty Skewer technique. |

A Demon, that /was/ interesting. Trying to remember what she knew about demon slaying, Adrianne had begun backing off and had sheathed her remaining knife whilst placing her hands behind her back when Glorfindel had begun his deadly charge. She didn't have time to draw and parry, nor was she capable of avoiding it, not at this distance. Then something strange happened, shadows seemed to clump together in her hand, and within the space of a second, a longsword trailing shadows appeared in her grasp, strange, all this time and the lady had ignored her, why was she being helped now. Perhaps it was the close proximity to this equally dark...Creature that had triggered the intervention of the mistress of the night. Strange, was this a sign that she wanted her to serve this man rather than dying by his blade or that she should resist him. She had no conclusive answer to that, and so just stuck with what she'd already decided, she resisted. He'd just tried to impale her while she followed his instructions, albeit in an attempt to catch him off guard, but still... Quickly recovering from the sudden shock, Adrianne, rather than focusing on drawing and parrying with a knife simpy drew one with her right hand and tossed it at the incoming Glorfindel, while readying her knewly aquired longsword to bat Glorfindel's blade aside if he chose to simply run into the dagger flying at him rather than breaking off his strike to dodge. Then the magical wave of telekinetic force hit her and forced her backwards. Under her breath she muttered. "I never took this guy to be a greybeard" Using the planar term for a spellcaster. |
