Demonness

The demon's eyes flashed excitedly as she cut through flesh, her nostrils flaring as the sharp scent of blood invaded her senses. She skidded to a halt before her quarry to assess the damage, her claws easily splintering the floorboards below as the beast's considerable weight and momentum came crashing against it. Ara's jaws snapped shut short of her victim's neck, and instead she towered over the goddess, giving a low growl as she regarded her curiously, not a little surprised Kaliyah hadn't possessed the agility to avoid being struck, at least the first time. She cocked her head to the side, baring her fangs again in a twisted sneer as blackened blood trickled from the vampire's wounds to stain the wood and pool beneath the cracks in the ruined floor. Ara lifted her claws to her mouth, making a show of her opponent's failure as she licked the thick ichor from her talons. The beast bristled at the flavor, taking a second taste to sample the likes of which she'd never experienced before- It was like no mortal's blood, that was for sure, though it bore the same fertile thickness, the same sustaining essence its previous owners had possessed. There was a bitterness to it too, acrid and vile as if it had been fermenting, decaying even as it flowed through its lifeless shell...and yet it was a deeper taste that caught her, a rich, intoxicating sweetness hidden behind the others- Power, beyond that of any mortal's reckoning, a hint of dark magic and boundless knowledge harnessed through countless lifetimes only those as old as Avalon itself possessed, a fleeting glimpse of the deepest terrors known only to death itself... The demon's eyes widened, and she hunted madly for any remaining trace of the liquid, greedily lapping away the pools that had formed at the goddess' feet. The taste was intangible and yet intoxicating, filling Ara with a hunger that seemed could never be satisfied…It consumed her, infecting her with visions of glorious mastery as if she herself kept the world on her finger, commanded all the sweeping tides of life, death, and the darkness beyond. She licked her teeth ravenously, fixing Kaliyah with a dangerous stare as she took a step closer, preparing to pounce on the wounded vampire. There was power in the goddess’ veins, and she would have it all. She stopped once more to hear the other’s words, another empty taunt from the hell-queen’s pretty mouth- Insolent harridan- Here she was, bleeding out, and still she spewed more filth. Ara growled, lashing out without a second thought as the goddess practically threw herself into the demon’s grasp. She caught the creature in her mighty jaws, taking care not to entirely crush Kaliyah’s fragile form even as she allowed a fang or two to break into her with a sickening crunch. She wolfishly received the trickling lifeblood that made its way down her throat, nearly inhaling the goddess’ crumpled body as she siphoned away a great deal of her immortal strength using her own demonic power, *weakening* any impeding retaliation she might be foolish enough to try. The demon leaned back on her haunches, reveling in her prize for a moment before flinging her furiously across the room to collide with the nearest wall. Her black tongue snaked out to claim any newly shed drops of the dark elixir before she followed the unmistakable scent to where her victim had fallen. She approached the supine goddess without hesitation, blind in her bloodlust to any sensible precaution that the immortal might have even completely healed herself by now. Her only fear now was that she might render the heartless thing dry altogether without more mortal blood for her to infuse with her precious taste. Her steps slowed as she grew close enough to touch the goddess, having caught a fleeting scent of something she hadn’t expected- Arousal. It was nigh undetectable beneath the stench of blood, but it was there- She liked it. The scheming bitch liked it. Ara understood now- She’d given herself over willingly. The goddess was no prize of hers, but a hidden mockery, and now she was winning this fight without ever having laid a hand on her. The beast roared, indignant at having been so easily tricked, immediately reverting back into its cloud of shadow before reverting back into its sealed incarnation. Ara wasted no time in restraining the goddess the moment she regained control of her human limbs, backhanding her and drawing a steel blade from its sheathe in one fluid motion. She grabbed a fistful of the other’s hair, using the thick strands to bring her closer into range as she let the razor point of her weapon press dangerously against the vampire’s chest. “You’re sicker than I thought,” she spat, her icy eyes wild and unforgiving as she examined Kaliyah, careful to keep her attention from any hint of the immortal’s tantalizing blood. “You might have guessed I don’t take lightly to being made a fool of, but if you thought me mindless before, I can assure you I am now…If you’re not careful, I might do something reckless,” she continued, smirking wickedly as she rested some of her weight onto the blade. She fixed the vampire with a look of morbid interest, watching closely where her sword pierced the creature’s ruined garments and began to sink slowly into her flesh. “I wonder now, if the mistress is still master of the abyss,” she continued, glancing madly back to Kaliyah as she threatened to impale her. “Would you still possess the strength to return yourself from death?” |

The demon siphoned the potent ichor that pumped through her undead veins with the hunger of a ravenous whelp. Tricked as she may have been Ara did not know it yet but she had been bequeathed a most rare boon to sup from the cradle of death. There were very few and far between that could lay claim to the same fact. Not of course that this would do anything to stem the demon's anger at the deception Kaliyah had swindled upon her. The shell that contained her peverse soul screamed out in protest of this barbaric treatment but the woman had long ago learnt to shut out it's demands. Limp and yielding to the punishment inflicted upon her the Goddess felt the ebbing of her powers, weakening her somewhat. A strange and foreign magic crept upon her defenses, the flow of sorcery sluggishly pouring from herself into the vassel that was Ara. Ah, so she too had magics of her own. Never mind. Time was no longer apparent and awareness of her surrounds had all but depleted. It was such a completely absorbing experience, unfamiliar and odd to the vampire in it's novelty. She was far more used to being the drainer and not the drainee. In all her years the woman had never been thrown herself so willingly into the midst of it. It was her instinct that guided her to the notion that Ara would have enough control to pull back from the brink. There was intelligence behind those glowing orbs not evident in so many others of her kind. Kaliyah was certain that the demoness would not be able to exhaust the supply contained within her, the cesspool that was death was strong and channeled into the core of her being. Oh the Goddess had something worthy of attention, a tool to barter with if you will. Her blood. Potent poison that it was. How long she remained in this delicious suspended state of intoxicated oblivion was unknown but as a garbled roar filtered through to her concious mind she found it to be a rather unwelcome disturbance. Swimming in the stream of unconciousness had allowed her a freedom and abandonment that was now being taken away from her. Ara's form contracted and shrunk back into the restrained trappings of human body once more, with a groping, blearly-eyed glance Kaliyah mused she liked the other one better. It was with a swooning struggle that the ravaged vampire dragged herself back to reality, one excruciating second at a time. This was how she came to realise that the pale vixen had her grappled into a rather awkward situation. With a stinging blow to the face and a handful of the matted mahogany tresses Ara had the Lady skewered to the end of a metal blade. Not entirely how the Goddess had pictured the end of her night, but hey, sometimes you get that on the big jobs. Her body was in a shattered, plundered mess but her mind had just returned from the most stimulating of journeys. Lack of blood and a serious penchant for self destruction spurred Kaliyah on. "It seems I shall be repairing m'self instead but never thee mind that. Foolish thou hast already been- I am affeared mine sickness be ever so contagious. Careful now poppet. Doth thee feel it already, flooding thy veins as we speak? Give it time pet." The sly parasite spluttered a pathetic, rasping laugh her lips speckling with thick droplets of crimson liquid due to the exertion. Perhaps she had punctured a lung among the festivities. Not to worry. It would be dealt with in time. And that time was nearing closer. Having found her head in a rather restrained position the next movement was of even greater effort. Apparently the deity had not accounted for just how much the demon would deplete her reserves, the bitch had a gluttonous appetite. Reaching deep within her mind the vampire was slightly saddened to realise there would be no display of granduer and pomp which was more akin to her style, the wicked little thing had cost her more than she would dare admit. Thrusting herself forwards in a single fluid movement Kaliyah felt every inch of the blade puncture through the cavity that should have contained her mortal heart. It burnt llike wildfire as the metal pierced smoothly through bone, tissue and organs, the Goddess released a high pitched moan to accentuate her thoughts on the matter. Impaling herself was not the primary aim of her actions and as stupid as it was, it was all a means to an end. Having gained enough give from the demon's vice like grasp the haggard harlot made her move. Herein delivering upon Ara's supple lips a savage kiss . "I think thee shalt find the legend says a stake of wood be'th far more efficient." Laughter was beyond her now but she managed to taunt her opponent still. A ebony lashed eye closed in a winking gesture as she compiled herself for the last effort of the night. Her depature. The demoness's question would remain unanswered for the most part whilst Kaliyah retreated to the luxurious comfort of her temple to lick her wounds and bide her time. She cared little for how much this would irk her new aquantaince- in fact she cared not a hoot. Master of the abyss she was indeed and unfortunately for Ara the vampire was just about to slip into it. Gathering the final strands of her destitute powers the woman threw her energy into a simple teleportation spell that would return her to the seat of her power to heal. Perhaps they would meet again, Kaliyah had an inkling that the demoness would be unable to stay away but she was no guardian to the future. Foresight was hardly a gift she had been endowed with but for now her time had come. The heavy, black mists rolled in leaving in it's wake the ramshackled inn and an empty handed demon. |

Ara's eyes narrowed as the broken creature coughed in her grasp, black blood glistening on her lips as it crept from her damaged insides. What sickness?? Her laugh unnerved Ara, vexed her even further, as if the sly witch had a winning hand just waiting to be played. Bullshit. The goddess was at her mercy...she could sense the fear behind her voice, it rattled in her breath. She was sure of it. Ara watched speechless as the vampire crawled closer, her reaching hands leaving bloodstains on the blade as she forced it deeper into her chest. She was not so proud or foolish that she'd think a goddess would be dispatched so easily, but she'd expected impaling the devil might come damn close. And yet what Kaliyah did next surprised her even more. The kiss was quick and fierce, as fiery and provocative as the wink the goddess threw her, the spiteful grin her bloodstained lips had contorted into. Ara twitched furiously, about to strike the wench in retaliation again before she vanished entirely from her grasp. The demon roared, clawing fruitlessly at the thin air where her opponent had been moments before, madly scanning the shadows around her to make sure the goddess had indeed teleported herself far, far away. She slashed at the nearby rubble with her sword, positively shaking with rage as she pushed herself to her feet again. The coward! Running away just when she had her at the throat...And she could still taste the bitch. Ara wiped her mouth with her elbow, wiping the last drops of the dark elixir from her lips. What had she done to her?? Ara felt no different...'Give it time'...What would happen in time? Had she planned this? The demon breathed deeply, waiting as if she could feel the very blood coursing through her veins, the blood that had been tainted by Kaliyah's- The hunger was still there, growing perhaps, but was the goddess spawning something else within her, something darker? Was the fear Ara had seen in her eyes all just a bluff? Was she playing right into the devil's hands? She spat out the last of the thing's bitter flavor, draining the nearest surviving tankard to drown out the taste. "Flee then, snake," she snarled, sending anything that was still upright crashing to the ground as she cleared a way through the ruined tavern to the front door. "I'll find you…Drive a stake through your empty heart if that’s what it takes...and even if that doesn't kill you, I'll make sure it hurts enough to make you wish it did.” She took a swig from a bottle that hadn’t broken yet before adding the rest of the contents to the booze-soaked floor. She rummaged madly in her vest to roll another cigarette, cursing when she dropped most of her tobacco while attempting to light it with the few sparks she managed to generate by striking flints. She took a quick drag, exhaling slowly to calm her nerves as if she was tempted to tear this whole place down with her bare hands. She would find the vampire…spill more of her blood, make her take back whatever she’d done to her…Ara would have her rightful victory, even if she had to travel half the world to get there. She sheathed her swords, snapping a chair as she kicked it out of her way before shoving open the door and storming out into the cold, night air. She dropped her cigarette at her feet, sparing not a blink of concern as the lit coal ignited a trail of liquor and began to burn, angrily consuming the dry wood of the tavern in its wake. The demon composed herself for a moment, letting the shadows surround her as she transformed into the towering beast once again, gnashing her teeth hungrily before bounding off full speed into the night. She had a name and a scent- Better even than what the amateur tracker could hope to work with. She would find Kaliyah…and when she did, there would be blood. |
