She didn't know what ever possessed her to come to a place such as this. An island and a cove of nothing but beasts. Mere animals were different than mankind, than her kind, than all kind of creatures with cruel hearts or good hearts. Perhaps she wished to just see something different. Whatever the reason she had come here for, she wished she hadn't. Just her luck that she came around at lunchtime. Sea dragons with many hungry mouths to feed. Any other time perhaps she might have wished to get a look at baby dragons. But no, not now, not when they were trying to eat her.

It had left her with broken wings and her becoming an appetizer. The wound would heal in time, but, she was stuck on this blasted island until then. The only reason she had come out here was because she had heard the dragons survived of a diet of purely fish. Apparently however the surrounding ocean had been over fished by human fishermen, leaving the dragons with little to survive on. And it was hatching time too, meaning offspring to feed. Eleanor had come at a bad time. But now the dragons were sleeping, after a good meal of whatever other poor soul they had happened upon and a bite of her. Because it was actually relatively safe around now, she took the time to explore when the opportunity presented itself.

So she walked along the shore, perhaps if she got lucky a fishing boat would get too close and she'd get 'rescued'. Though she had heard stories of her kind being captured as trinkets or good luck charms, she was certain she could best a ship of mere humans. Eleanor had a weapon, she just hadn't used it to protect herself against the dragons because she found they were not to blame. It was the destruction of their main food source and her disturbance that caused them to attack the in the first place. After all, animals were just beasts, they only acted instinct, not reason.

The angel held her shoes in one hand, walking close to the shore. While she enjoyed the cool of the ocean waves at her feet, her wings twitched irritably with the salty spray. Already her bitten wing, though missing a good sized chunk off flesh and bone, was healing. There was no more blood, the ocean since washed the trail away, but it still wasn't a pretty look for an angel. Ah well, nothing she could do right now. Way out here, away from the life force of others, her magic wasn't enough for self healing. She could ignore the pain, but that was it.

Brown eyes shifted quickly across the ocean. Out there, far into the blue, she could see the sails of a ship. But it was the crush of sand down the shore that drew her attentions, quickly she turned about, gazing towards the open sand. Something else was about, she knew, but she could not yet tell if it was another hungry beast, or a person stuck out on this cove island as she was. Either way, she was cautious, arms crossing and dropping her boots at her feet as her fingertips played across the wires at either wrist.

"They can not see you from there, anyway!" Myk said as he walked toward what appeared to be an angel as he pointed to the boat on the horizon. He smiled as he walked on to the beach and into sight. He was sure that the angel would be opposed to conversing with a pirate.
"Besides I would perfer no more unwelcome company on this island." As Nilrem walked closer to the angel he half expected it to strike him down or disappear. He had just made it to this island the day before. Since his arrival he had almost been lunch for several smaller dragons. He really hoped he did not run into any larger dragons. He was not exactly prepared to fight a dragon. He really wished his hunt had not led him to this forsaken island.
As he continued to walked toward the angel along the sand he wondered why an angel would be on this island. What would be of intrest on this terrible island. No one came to this island man, elf, god, demon, or angel. He stoped about ten feet away from the angel unsure how to deal with the angel. So he visually examined it seeing the damaged wing. Hmmm.........he thought.
"Are you alright may i assist you?"

Quickly she withdrew her hands from weaponry at the sound of a voice. Her wing twitched briefly, and a few loosened feathers fell. Only to be swept up by the tides, vanishing into the foam and salty spray. Eleanor was really past the point of caring at this moment as to who she spoke with. Anything was better than the dragons which had tried to eat her. Besides, with injured wing or not, the angel was plenty capable of caring for herself. For a moment she glanced back out to sea, watching the ship fade more into the distance. There went that idea, she thought. Oh well. It wasn't as if she didn't have plenty of time and plenty of ability for survival.

She turned to face him then, her attentions going elsewhere only long enough for her to step into her shoes. The sand was bothersome, but it was such minor a thing. For a few moments Eleanor watched the man in his approach. By the look of him she judged him to be a sailing man, he was dressed in sailors garb. Pirate was a possibility too, but she didn't know much about them as a whole. When the man was finally close and asked about her injured state, the angel only shook her head. "No. I'm fine. Already healed."

Myk looked again at the wing she was right it was just about healed. He was a little impressed but then again he was dealing with an angel here. He studied the angel closely and wondered what kind of powers it had at its disposile. Could the angel harm him, and if he caught it would someone buy it? Then he changed his mind at least he thought he changed his mind, or perhaps the close proximity to an angel was having an effect on his morals. He pondered this for a moment then decided to proceed carefully last thing he wanted to be doing was acting unpirately. Still the angel intriged him, why was it here? How had it gotten injured? The dragons?
"You are an angel right? What are you doing on this island? The dragon are relentless you should not be here!"
Myk could not believe the words coming out of his mouth. The angel was having an effect on him. He was not only trying to warn her of dangers he was almost being down right helpfull. Very unpirately indeed.

Sometimes she had that affect on people, sometimes it was intentional. Not today however, she was too tired for cleansing the souls of others, pirate or no. Healing as she did took more energy than she would either show or admit. She was not in the mood for a fight, not today. It showed that she was not on edge, that she was not worried about this stranger who just showed up on the beach and started talking to her. Besides, it was too pretty a day to ruin with any needless fighting. Eleanor stretched her wings a little, before taking a step backwards away from the ocean waves.

"Yes. I am." She paused a moment, making sure his flurry of questions were over before continuing on. "The dragons are not usually so aggressive. They usually keep to themselves. But their food source, the fish, have been over hunted by human fishermen. So now the dragons have no other choice. Starve, or eat whatever comes their way. I did not know this until too late." Not many thought oft his, must saw dragons as frightening and aggressive creatures to be feared. But that was why she had come, something told her she had been sent to investigate the matter. Now that she knew why the dragons were attacking people, she would eventually need to find a way to solve it. "I'm not human. I can take care of myself just fine. I was just caught by surprise is all. It won't happen again."

Myk watched as the Angel stretched its wing a little while. This woman creature or whatever it was was magificant. Myk could not take his eyes off of her. Damn it all he was losing his pirate edge this creature had to be the cause of it. Then she answered about her reasons fo being here, and Myk found himself almost feeling bad for the blood thirsty dragons. Then he cleared that thought away, pirates could not feel bad for other animals it was after all survival of the strongest on the seas or the land he susposed. These dragons were killers why was an angel trying to help them it did not make sense. Dragons were clearly closer to the other side then the Angel's side. And why did she have to come here when he was here, damn it all.
Then she said she could take care of her self just fine. He smirked a little bit, and then began speaking again. He pointed to her now healed wing.
"I can see you can surely take care of yourself....at least against one or two small ones, but what if many come at you or a large one? Do you have the power to fight one of those?"

The angel sighed briefly, her gaze turned out towards the sea. With the dragons sleeping and the ship gone it was nothing more than a rippled sheet of deep blue glass. "Because. Animals, whether it be a dragon or your common house cat, are different than more sentient races. They do not kill for pleasure, do not war and destroy forests or dirty rivers. They do not have the reason, only instinct. It is not their fault that they must survive as they do. If man had left them alone to begin with they wouldn't be acting as they do now."

Eleanor didn't know if the man was doubting her or challenging her or simply one of those curious ones. But he was only human, it was in their nature to query so. "Despite the fragile appearance of my kind I assure you we can handle far greater battles than mankind has endured. Dragons are nothing compared to the slings and arrows of every other race." Her head tilted slightly towards him. "No need to worry about me lad."

Myk listened closely to the Angel as it rattled on about it's, and other animals superiority to humans. Myk giggled softly to himself. The Angel was pretty confident for a being who was taking its time on the beach to repair its injuries. Very well Myk thought she will have the opportunity to prove herself he had things to be doing here on this island one of them being to stay alive. Then somewhere a soft nagging voice entered his head. Perhaps you should help the Angel it said. Think of the Dragons?! Myk was baffled by the totally un-pirate like thought. What was wrong with him? He had things to do. He had to get away from the Angel he did not like it's effect on him.
"Very well you will get your chance to prove it. You have a wonderful life or eternity or whatever you Angel have. I have to find something." He said with a over done bow even taking off his hat as he did. He started to walk past her when he heard a rumbling in the forest to they're right. Then he was sure it was a growl. It was not a full grown dragon from the sound of the growl he thought. Still even a small or medium dragon could easily murder and consume both of them. Or at least him. He glanced to the Angel. Then he put his hand on the hilt of his Rapier. It would not be of much use against a Dragon he was in trouble he thought to himself.

If she knew of her affects on the man, the angel didn't show it. Her reasons for being in the mortal plain to begin with were far greater than the welfare of dragons. However, if there was the slightest possibility of making Avalon good for all, there was no deed to small. And besides, this beach seemed as good a place as any to get started on her trek. Eleanor didn't know what the sailor meant at his comment. Anyone else could have taken it as a threat. Of course Eleanor didn't feel threatened by anyone or anything. She simply gave a brief nod as reply and turned back towards the open ocean before her.

It wasn't until a rumble of earth and a roar shaking the trees echoed across the beach that she turned around. While she had no weapons drawn, she was instantly on alert. looked like someone had awoken from their nap early. "Prove myself, indeed."

Judging from the racket the beast was making it would not be a small Dragon. Myk glanced at the Angel out of the corner of his eye. She seem alert if an Angel could be considered alert. He thought to himself Well if I have to fight a damn Dragon there could be no better ally. The ruckuss was getting closer and closer. Soon it would be busting through the tree line and onto the beach. He took a couple steps toward the tree line till he was about five feet infront of the Angel. He croutched slightly as he raised his sword in anticipation ahile hoping this was not the end for him.

"Careful. They are quicker than you may think." Her hands delved slowly into the confines of her shirt sleeves. As the sands began to shift beneath their feet and the beast reared its ugly head, Eleanor gave a testing stretch to her injured wing. It would do for the moment, as she withdrew a pair of silvered filaments in each hand. The bracer on her wrist glinted in the sun, causing the serpentine dragon to give a roar of annoyance.

With a sigh Eleanor gave the sailor a glance. "I would like to avoid killing it. However ... it may not give me the option." Stepping forward a pace, she halted as an afterthought occurred. She wasn't used to fighting alongside anyone. "Don't step directly in front of me. Wouldn't want to hit you by accident. A little to the side, if you please." Was her final warning as she brought her hands in a downward stroke and a line of trees the dragon burst from lost their branches in a flurry of sliced wood and fallen leaves.
