Fisherman/Spicemaker's daughter

They ate in compete silence. Eva Lynn could tell Roni was wrapped in his own thoughts, so she decided not to bother him for now. She watched the sun sink lower and lower, until the sky was on fire with oranges and reds and she felt her eyelids begin to feel heavier and heavier. Night... She didn't even know she was saying the word until after she had said it. She finally gave up the battle with her eyelids and sank onto the bed, fast asleep. |

Roni smiled at the girl as she ate the food, his mind may had been drifting, but if anything, he knew that he was always alert to any potential danger that may occur. He looked out the window again at the harbor, and watched the last of the boats come in, barely past sun set. He missed the open waters, the salt spray, and the other lands he could travel to. He shook his head and remembered his last voyage as captain, the sinking of his ship, and the shores of Avalon, where he washed upon. He grimmest at the loss of his first mate, a good friend of his, and a magnificent sailor. He sighed again, and turned away from the window. He had not even heard the little girl fall to the bed, obviously tired, and worn out. Romani smiled and walked over the carpeted floor, picking her up off the bed, he moved the tray aside, and folded back the sheets of the bed she was laying on top of. He covered her back up, and blew out the candle lights. He removed his boots, sword, and pouch full of other items, and sat back on his own bed, the light alcohol in hand, gulping it lightly. He drank to his lost friends, he drank to his lost boat. He drank to his new daughter. He drank to his new future. And he drank to himself. He drained the bottle with the last sip, and placed it lightly on the soft wooden table. He rolled his neck, and pulled back the covers of his own bed, and slipped under the soft comforter. He rested his head on the pillow, and closed his eyes lightly, wondering about the next day, or the next, or the one after that, as he drifted to sleep. He dreamed of ships and men under his command, of him and older man, and Eva as a woman upon her own boat, she had on similar clothes on her as him, and she was leading another fleet at another enemy, he watched, in his dream, as she blew apart the boats as though they were parchment, and he smiled as she caved in ship after ship. The dream ended, much to Roni's preference, right before a large cannonball miss fired from the enemy ship, about to take him out. Roni woke up in a cold sweat, to the morning sun... |

Fisherman/Spicemaker's daughter

The sun was just peeking over the rim of the world when Eva awoke. She looked around at the room remembering what had happened the day before. She glanced over at her new father, he was still sleeping. Quietly she slide out of her bed and dragged her comforter across the room to the bay window. There she sat thinking to about her old life and how she went hungry for days. I have a father now!she thought, Things will be different! We will ride the seas together. She looked over the tops of the buildings to the sea. It looked like it was endless. It looked like an adventure! She thought about the stories she read when she would sneak over to the library. Books about mermaids and pirates and their adventures. |

The sunlight shone in Romani's eyes as he looked towards the window, to see his young, now, daughter, wrapped in a comforter, and looking out to sea, he was glad she wasn't older, and he was glad he wasn't blasted by a twenty plus pound cannonball. His realization that he was now a father, adopted father, struck him. He, this lustful ex-pirate Casanova, was now in control of a little girl's life. He thought about how he would raise her, this time when he didn't have a boat to call his own, how could he keep moving from tavern to tavern. How would he get with girls! His eyes widened a bit, then settled back, as he cleared his mind of thoughts. He shifted back to the edge of the bed, his feet touching the floor's soft carpet. He slowly stood up and shook his comforter off, under it he was wearing a white sleeveless shirt, and soft, light breeches. His feet padded against the soft shag of the floor, as he made his way to the little girl he now called a daughter. he slumped down next to her, and pulled her into a light hug. He held her as they looked out into the sunrise, her small form under the blanket, he smiled and said to the little girl, his voice soft and full of hope, "Well, little Eva, out there, somewhere, it our ship, just for you and me, we'll sail these waters like no other." He laughed lightly, thinking of sailing brought his mind back to the ocean, the sea, with it's hopeful prizes of travel, and gold. He looked at all the types of ships out there, just ready for sailing, having their wood warped by this sloshing current. He squinted, as the sun brushed the right of the window, they were facing north, from the angle of the sun. they looked out for some time, before Roni said to her "it's just beautiful, the water." He shifted gears, so to speak, and clapped his hands, standing up, saying to her, "Alright, who wants some breakfast? We've got along day a head of us!" |

"Alright, who wants some breakfast? We've got along day a head of us!" FOOD! she yelled. Then she clapped her hands over her mouth and blushed a little bit. Sorry, i didnt mean to yell that. She looked back out the window, this time at the streets that were starting to come to live. She spotted a cart of fruit on the other side of the street. I want an apple. she said. |
