The smell of rotten flesh and blood was starting to become a pain in Leon’s eyes. Not only did his eyes burn from the funk, but he had just finished crying from watching a baby get eaten alive. Leon wanted nothing to do with these cannibals. There was nowhere to hide. You can’t out run them. Only slay them. Usually slicing them in half would stop a foe, but for some strange reason, only decapitation worked. Not only did Leon have bad aim, but every time they got close, they tried to bite him. His bow was the only thing that was really useful. Screw it! Leon screamed as he ran for his life and prayed to find some companions for help.

Slaying beasts was what she did best. Vampire, werewolf, demon, these undead didn't hold a candle to the things she'd fought. Zariah had seen plenty of people get eaten too. But they weren't her problem, the hunter had her own problems to deal with. Mainly just making sure she got paid. This entailed meandering through every graveyard an plague infested city she came across. The death toll mounted in every city she passed. It wasn't until recently that some of them just didn't seem to want to stay dead. The Lost Lands were the entrance to the underworld, or so they said. They also said it was home to dragons and demons and all sorts of other nasty beasties.

Now it was just filled to the brim with death. Her sword was drawn, dripping blood and flesh, not to mention other various nasty substances that only the rotting undead could be covered with. She didn't like thinking about it that far. Killing them, that's all that matters. Well that and not missing out on her next pay check of course. A voice echoed over the open plain as a shorter figure darted across her vision. The undead didn't yell or scream, as far as she was aware. still that didn't keep her from holding her sword aimed to knock the boy's head from his shoulders. But then she saw it was just some kid running away from these things. Well he better run faster according to her opening. "Stupid kid. I hate kids." She muttered to herself, raising her sword to cleave another undead whatsit in two. "Get out of here kid."

Now, running for his life, Leon wouldn't stop unless he found a group of people. A voice stopped Leon dead in his tracks. His own? Yes, it was his concious kicking in. All this nonsense about stopping was getting on his nerves. A few moments later, now he was jogging from the loss of energy, he saw a woman ahead of him. A smile broke the frown upon Leon's face. He shealthed his katana back on his waist then started to sprint towards the woman. Love or death? I choose love! Leon thought as he was running as fast as he could to her.

Suddenly, he realized what was wrong about this picture. What beautiful woman would be here, unless she had a reason. Just as he rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't dreaming, he saw her blade. Dripping with blood... Leon stopped dead in his tracks and tripped over a small branch. Getting back to his feet, he drew his blade then started walking away hastily, hopeing she hadn't noticed him.

He looked back to see if she had noticed him. He couldn't figure out if she saw him or not, but he saw that she had slain more zombies. Holy shit! If she catches me, I'm a dead man. Leon wispered as he hid behind a tree and gripped his katana with fear.

She gave an exasperated sigh. Damn kid, he'd get in her way, she just knew it. Ah well, whatever happened to him wasn't her business as long as he didn't interfere. Zariah had more important matters to attend to anyways. Such as, for example, the undead reaching a hand out to snatch her off her feet. She snatched its hand off its wrist first, before turning briefly to slice its head off, thick blood sliding off her blade and onto the grasses at her feet.

Taking a brief glance around and fighting a lull in the onslaught, at least for the time being, she took a chance and sought out the boy she'd seen run by earlier. He was still about, and hiding behind a tree no less. "I said get out of here. Not hid behind a tree." Zariah shook her head, before turning her attentions to her blade. She spun it quickly, sending gore flying from its steel surface and onto the remains of the undead she'd dispatched thus far. "Boy. I'm not going to bother with you. But these dead fellas won't say the same."

Scratching his head, Leon sighed then agreed with the woman. The name's Leon! He said as he gave her a two thumbs up. Leon looked at the creatures as they limped around. They must have some sort of a weakness...Everyone does! Leon thought as he slowly walked towards the walking corpse. As he approached the undead, he swung his blade right through its flesh that was once considered it's arm. Blood and pus came out. Along with other chemicals not known to him. Leon's eyes grew big as the creature looked at him then started to moan. Leon started to shake then kicked the thing right in the chest. He ran near the woman then looked at her. I some how just got this feeling to stay near you. Help please? Leon pleaded as he kept his guard up.

It wasn't as if she actually cared whether or not the boy became a zombie's supper. But she'd much rather not have him getting under foot. Zariah shook her head in annoyance. "Whatever. Just stay out of the way." She wouldn't have him jumping in the way of her sword and halting her progress of killing these damned things. After all, the undead were much softer than a living person, her sword could very well be slowed down if she'd hit him. Her only goal here was to take these things down, go back to the city, and get her pay. So she started off walking again, her direction never altering from her original path. The demon slayer would make a straight line and cut down anything that stood in her way. "If you can handle that sword of yours, you can guard my back. But I have to find the source of these bastards to take them all down. Got it?"

Guard the back? I'm in. Leon thought as he followed her. He shealthed his katana then pulled out his bow from off his back. Leon grabbed an arrow from his quiver then got ready to fire it. He didn't pull his arm back yet, since there were no zombies from what he could see. Then agian, even if he saw one, t=she would proably kill it before Leon got the chance to shoot his bow. I'm Leon...So what's your name? He asked as he kept paying attention to the area around them.

She was in no mood for small talk, never was. Zariah had always been single minded like that. Just get the job, do the job, get the pay. That's all she ever needed, and she cared for nothing else. She knew how others looked at her for such, but she didn't care. Though she was not in any sort of path to righteousness or of holy light, she did feel as if she had been brought to this Avalon for a reason. Killing demons and dark creatures was her profession, and her pride would not allow her to fail in her job. She'd kill every demon, vampire, werewolf, and all their kin, any one she crossed, she'd kill them all. Predator of the predatory, thats how she thought of herself. "Zariah." The hunter didn't bother giving the boy a second glance, as her gaze was too busy scanning the surrounding area for any sign of life, or more importantly, lack thereof. "Tell me. Have you seen where the most of these things seem to be heading away from."

Leon scratched his head and thought about which direction he came from. He looked at the tree he hid behind then yawned. I was running from them and I found you. Leon pointed to the tree. My guess is we go that way. He decided he would let Zariah lead the way and he would make sure none of the creatures attacked her from behind. Hey Zariha...You go ahead of me like when planned and I'll guard your rear. Leon tried not to laugh, but you could hear as it was going through the hand over his mouth.

As Leon followed Zariah, he calmed down. He felt something under his foot. When he had stepped down, it was as if he crushed something. The smell of rotten flesh swept across Leon as he moved his foot. Not the smell agian! Leon quickly put a cloth over his nose and mouth. Leon looked at Zariah and she didn't even flinch at the smell, not even a complaint. I'm glad I'm not agianst her.

It seemed the boy was to be of no help, he probably wouldn't be good for anything other than something to toss in the way should an undead get too close. An amusing happening to be sure. The boy was getting annoying after all, enough so that she didn't give him the courtesy of a reply. Laugh while you can, kid.

Continuing onwards, her gaze was ever sharp, seeking out possible attack. Even if they were smelly and quite out of place, those undead bastards could sneak up and jump on you i a hurry. Zariah had no desire to get her arm gnawed off. It might not kill her,but she was certain it would not grow back.

Something snapped, and the tall grass parted sharply. Zariah drew up her sword, as a mangy dog shot past. Its panicked expression was all the motivation she needed. With a motion of her free hand a spectral sword appeared from out of thin air. "Watch yourself kid, here's company." She called over her shoulder as she gave a downward motion with her unarmed hand, sending the phantom blade cutting clean through the tall grass and slicing a trio of undead completely in half. The spectral blade faded, and as the hazy light cleared undead braved up and quickly began the assault again. I might have some fun yet.

Leon ducked in fear as she slashed the zombies. Aw shit... Leon put up his bow then grabbed hold of his katana. Zombies came from a few directions. Some limped, while others ran. Leon liked the ones who limped, since they didn't put up much of a fight.

His sword went into a zombie's chest as he slashed at it. Blood landed on his chest. It was weird, but it felt good cutting the zombie. He pulled his blade out then looked for another zombie. One was running to him, extremly fast. Leon was to slow to attack it. This zombie was a girl, a child at that. Can I kill it? Then agian, shes already dead. Leon spun around her, then put his sword through the back of her head.

Only a few zombies remained. Leon turned around to fight them, but before he could charge, Zariah had sliced them down. Good job! Leon called out. There was a passage about 15 feet from them. A few zombies were limping towards them. More came from the tall grass. It as if they are fucking calling each other for backup... Leon wispered as he gripped his sword.

One step, and more fell, two steps, three more, every step she took brought about the destruction of another undead. You couldn't really call it murder, she wasn't killing anything, the dead were dead no matter how you put it. What they were, well they were annoying for one thing, but all the undead were just happened to be puppets on invisible strings. She felt no pity, held no special regard, old body young body it didn't matter. These, these things, they felt nothing. And so as would she. The grass was even mowed down by arcane forces, as the phantom blades took out anything in their way. At last however they vanished. Zariah never claimed to be so great at magic. She just had a few useful abilities at her disposal. But she didn't stop, she'd never stop. The hunter was on the prowl, if you wanted to be metaphorical about it. Zariah gave no pause for consideration, she didn't even think of the safety o the boy nearby her. There was only the job, the hunt, and it wasn't until she stood within the doorway so to speak, that she gave a glance over her shoulder. "Hey. It's only going to get worse from here on out. You better go run on home while you still can. They'll be back soon."

Go home? And let you kill these things by yourself? I couldn't do that, because while running home I would imagine you hurt. Leon puased for a moment. Not that I care! More zombies started to limp towards them. Zariah killed them with ease, while Leon had to focus then attack.

A zombie was starting to get close, he thought it would be funny to takle it, but then he remembered what would happen if you get biten. After watching a child transform into one of them. A faith worse than death, this is what Leon thought of them.

He quickly put his sword into the zombie's stomach then ripped his blade through and watched as it's insides went everywhere. If I tried to run, how far would I get by myself? Ya, I think I'll stay with you. Well, at least for now.

Yes she would probably get hurt, but pain was not a new concept to her. It just came with the job, if you were going to be afraid of losing blood here and there then you were better off working at the market or something. Many of the people she had worked with in the past came and went, besides of course the cause being death, as the things they fought were certainly deadly, many left because they just couldn't cut it. If you ran and hide instead of fighting just because you were afraid of getting hurt, then you got kicked out of the job. And that was that. It had become apparent to her early on in her job that to succeed she would have to be fearless, and with all the things she wound up seeing and the people she'd lost she had become as distant as possible. One could say it was to avoid being hurt in ways other than physically. But Zariah woudl attest to it just being far to bothersome to have to worry about others all the time. Not that anyone had tried to bring up psychology with her, considering she had a short temper and a weapon always at hand, a weapon that had a long enough range to shut people up.

Zombies, undead, the cursed, whatever you might call them on the other hand. Well they didn't even get the courtesy of a glare from her. They just got a sword through the neck, a prime target given past experiences and study over years. "Whatever kid." She muttered off handed like, she didn't care what the boy did. If he got into trouble it would be his own fault. "Just stay out of the way, it'll be dark in their no doubt. I'm liable to cut off the head of the first thing to slink up on me." That was the last thing she'd say for awhile now, as she made her way forward. who knew what they were soon to find.

The figure stood, spotted lighting by the falling sun behind him. He was massive, rising head and shoulders above the undead that had come, risen from the grave at his call and began to make their way into the lands, ready to devour all who came in their way. He paced slightly, ignoring the undead here or there who bumped into his massive frame. Life was weird now that he had to walk, is wings torn off in the cloudsweep peaks. But it was because of that venture that he had gained the insights he had about who he really was. So now he stood amongst the grass and the trees, his armor, heavy upon his person, but not slowing him down. Heavy armor, forged to look like the scales that ran beneath it, along Grithore's body, was lined with spikes, with the metal fashioned into skulls were the buckles held it together. His unnamed sword, was strapped across his back, a black slime dripping from the tip that smelled of rotten corpses and stagnant feces. Even the undead crinkled their nose as to the smell that rising.

His heaven, plate laden feet stepped upon the thigh high grass crushing it beneath his heel. As he crested a hill he could see two figures in the distance, one with sword drawn, hacking away at his minions like paper, while the other seemed ready to impale himself on his own blade. But he recognized that one, the light scars on his back were a reminder of the boy who had cut at his back as he had protected th Guardian of Earth. Grithore might have been evil, but he did have a heart, and he knew what needed saving, and what he could destroy. The creak of his armor seemed to cause the open mouthed skull metal work to scream as the buckles strained and creaked against one another. He unsheathed his sword from his back, and brought it around, cleaving a tree that was in front of him in two. He brought his foot up, placing it at the top of the now severed stump, and pushed his foot down, his strength plunging the stump and roots into the ground, as he used it as a stepping stone to continue his path towards the two. "And who are you to be cutting down my undead?" He asked, his voice booming from beneath the helm, where it echoed about a hundred times louder in his own ears. His blue eyes glowed with a devilish, frozen light, that steamed like dry ice, even his breath steamed as he breathed, signifying his approach from somewhere up north.
