Tremble Avalon...for Sir Annoying is here...
|
Elias slowed his footsteps to listen to the commotion behind him, his eye twitching at the sounds of ripping flesh, a sickening crack, and a heavy thud that made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He started as something suddenly rolled out into his path, staining the cracked earth with a trail of dark blood- The creature’s head. He caught himself, biting his lip to keep from gasping in shock as he kicked the head out of sight, turning back to the man who had thrown it and managing a wry smile. “Why thank you, sir,” he said as animatedly as he could under the circumstances, turning around again and making for the nearest tree in sight. Even though he was certainly not the strongest, he kicked the tree down and snapped off pieces of the dry wood without difficulty. He ignored the others as he continued to gather any scattered branches and blackened bushes he could find, stubbornly working to keep his place here. He returned with an armful of wood to the campsite, finding someone had placed large tree trunk sections in a circle for makeshift benches. He strode boldly into the center of the clearing and set about to arrange his findings for a fire, leaving no doubt to the others that he was virtually making himself at home here. Elias hummed merrily as he propped the wood up in a conical shape, adding the firewood someone else had gathered in his absence to his own. He twitched nervously at the man’s mention of the possible nightmares that might be prowling the night, creeping from the Hole of Husin to satisfy their hunger for man-flesh. Whether he was merely trying to scare Elias off, or there was a fair amount of truth in his words, it mattered little. Elias rummaged in his sack, pulling flint and tinder from amidst the contents. “I’m no magician, that’s for sure, but if it’s fire you need, we’re all set,” he said smugly, triumphantly holding out the flints to the man. Not waiting for a response, he struck the stones to make sparks, carefully lighting a flame in the pile of dry brush beneath the logs. He blew on the tiny flame, feeding the fire until he’d created a stable blaze in the center of the clearing. He brushed the dirt from his hands as he admired his handiwork, taking a seat on one of the logs, sighing loudly as he made himself comfortable. “No one happens to have any food with them, do they?” he asked, turning hopefully to the other group members. “I’m starving.” |

Between the five of them, Rahvin really only cared for the safety of three. Himself, Koralle, and the Hound, Levi. The mutts name didn't really matter to him, and he doubt it mattered to it, but it was important for the girl. He removed his cloak, tossing it over his own log, and shed his shirt, here the burns were even worse then on the rest of his exposed flesh. The trials and tribulations of life in a burning Abyss, and especially of conquering it. He was battle hardened, and really didn't care about troops, they were always replaceable. When he saw the idiot boy light the fire, his agitation only grew, the boy was presenting himself as a person to keep around. "Thanks, Elmo, that helps a lot." he said, turning back to his own log before rolling his eyes. He didn't honestly try to miss the boys name, but he hadn't been paying attention. As he sat upon the log, he sat as a king does upon his throne. Pulling his pant legs slightly up to keep from stretching the material at the knee, his boots still covering all the flesh from his ankle down. "I say, since we will be traveling together, how about we all go around in a circle and tell each other, a bit about our selves and what we are bringing to the table." He said, ignoring the man's asking for food. Rahvin had only brought enough for himself. He had expected Koralle to be smart enough to bring her own as well. "Eliza.. " he started, looking at the man across the fire. " I'll go first, so keep your trap shut long enough for me to get done." "My name is Rahvin Von Daemondread, Son of the Creator of Hell and the former Demon Goddess of Pain and Suffering. I loose track of years, but somewhere between twelve, and fifteen thousand years ago, I lead a massive army of Demons across the lands, taking everything and giving nothing back. That was before I was imprisoned by a Great Elf Mage, locked like an animal inside the Abyss!" His voice had steadily got louder during that last sentence until he was yelling at the end. "The abyss was home to something greater than demons like myself. Fiends ruled the six hundred and sixty six planes like tyrants. Oh but I showed them what a real tyrant was! I burned their people at stakes, and took their thrones, each in turn as my own, until I sat upon all thrones as an Emperor. But things don't last forever, empires and even immortals pass away. So I came here, to the Hole of Husin, looking for a being who has no race, no titles, only a Ruler. A being of supreme evil, said to be the source of evil for all beings, his hatred and malice leaking into the hearts of all beings. I plan on learning from him what I can on his longevity, over fifty thousand years, and then I'll kill him, and take his throne as mine, and sit at the head of an Interplaner Empire the likes of which has never been seen!" Rahvin turned to look at Koralle. "Now, how about you tell us a little about yourself?" |

More than carbon and chemicals.
|
She watched the reflecting flashes of lightening on the earth, her gaze drifting to the hound as he curled up at her feet. Ever guarding, ever watchful, he would always sleep with one eye open. Koralle reached over and scratched the hound behind the ears, a gesture more for her comfort than the hound's, though the hellhound seemed to have no complaints either. Drawing her knees up as she got comfortable on the make shift bench Koralle leaned forward slightly. Camping out in the wilderness was nothing new to her, she had done so many times both before and after she had been forced to leave home. Forced because there was nothing left but ashes and the scent of burnt wood. She used to go camping with her brothers many times in the summers, or hunting with her father, well he hunted, she'd set up a snare or two. It wasn't until recently that Koralle had gained some skill with a bow. However that had long since been sold off to help her gain funds for a night's stay at an inn. She shifted the light pack at her shoulders, though she had left her horse at the last stable she had passed by, she could still carry a few meager traveling supplies. She had no such extravagances as cooking utensils, but she did have at least one spare set of clothes and some travel rations. Koralle could not say she wasn't phased by all this talk of monsters coming to eat you as you slept, but she had expected nothing less since coming out here. She was usually one who didn't believe in things unless she had seen them, but this place had such a foreboding sense about it that she knew there had to at least be some truth to the stories. Setting her pack down at her feet, she gave a brief glance to the man who had begun starting up a fire. Koralle was rather glad that there had been no magic involved. She didn't know what she had been expecting of this trip, though she hadn't expected to get dragged into such an antisocial group as this. They all seemed self serving and with no regards for what might happen to the rest of the group. This wasn't exactly turning out to be like all the stories her father had once told her of adventurers passing through. Either they'd get all this business done with quickly enough for her to stop caring, or she hoped that they would at least eventually learn to get along without all the snappy come backs and snide remarks. How vexing, she really was out of place here. Blue eyes shifted across the growing fire, to the man when he queried about food then to the demon as he began an introduction of himself. Koralle was sure this would prove to be an enjoyable evening, she thought dryly. Without a second thought she proved just how unlike the rest of them she was by reaching over to the pack at her side. "Got a little anyways." Taking out a patch of parchment wrapping a few strips of dried meat from a hunt she'd partaken in a few nights back, she tossed it at the man. Not waiting to see if he'd caught it or if he had any reply she looked towards the demon at his rather unorthodox history. She could not help but let her gaze drift to the scars lacing the demon's flesh. Koralle may not have known anything about sixty whatever levels of hell, but she did know how fire hurt. She had her own scars, but these she had no prideful stories of battles that had given them to her. And she certainly spoke nothing of them or let anyone see them. Koralle was a private person for more than one reason; had her own secrets. Shaking her head briefly Koralle found that her gaze had drifted to the fire at such thoughts. She only paid half attention to the demon's story, though the more he spoke the less she felt like she should be here. He saved her life, so she supposed she owed him something. But all this talk of him wanting nothing more than power and to take over the throne of some demon lord or something, well she was beginning to have second thoughts. Koralle didn't want to help anyone do anything that could cause harm to others, that just wasn't her way. Though she had no delusions of grandeur however, she decided that she would indeed see this thing through. If she didn't like what the demon was up to then she would instead try to stop him, she would just have to wait and see what this whole dethroning entailed. It wasn't until she heard her own name being spoken that she looked away from the fire, snapped out of her thoughts, and looked back up towards the group. Koralle wasn't used to people asking about her, she was usually just another passing traveler, another face in the crowd, no one important. At least, she thought she was, she'd never had anyone express any particular interest in her before. Koralle didn't like drawing attention to herself in the first place. But it seemed there was no reason to keep to herself completely alone here, she wanted to remain as least confrontational as possible. "Well, um. My name's Koralle, Adalwolf. My father was a knight in Fincayra, but he retired to take care of my brothers and me. They died a few years ago, so I've been wandering with Levi here ever since. I don't have any exciting adventures to recall like slaying demons and taking over hells. But I get by. A few days ago I was attacked by a dragon in the forest, Rahvin kept it from eating me. So I guess you can say I came out here to repay him." |

Tremble Avalon...for Sir Annoying is here...
|
Elias sighed again wearily and crossed his arms, relaxing on the log as he relished the comforting warmth of the fire. He was sure the man had purposely misnamed him, or had at least chosen to have forgotten his name…He bit back the seething anger the man had elicited in him as he talked down to him as if he were a meddlesome child and ordered him around like a dog- although disrespect never sat well with him, he knew it was best to keep control of himself, even if his enemy didn’t. Elias’ strength was not brute force, and he wasn’t foolish enough to challenge the man who would be their leader. He supposed being part of a group increased their chances at any rate, and he admitted with some reluctance that he’d likely never have actually made it into the Hole on his own; still, these people seemed to be something of an inconvenience, even if it was a necessary one…but at least he was trying to be civil… He yelped as the meat hit him, stunned for a moment as he struggled to figured out what the package that had fallen into his lap contained. His face brightened when he saw the meat strips, looking to Koralle with grateful eyes. “Excellent!” he exclaimed through a mouthful of food. “Many thanks, love!” He gnawed ravenously on the dried meat, eating loudly as he listened to the man tell an extravagant tale, too hungry to be troubled by his wrathful tone and hellish misdeeds. Elias had trouble believing this man was actually a powerful thousands-of-years-old demon, but the scars on his chest and his strange appearance certainly supported his story- All the more reason to keep on his good side. “Mm! This is quite good actually,” he muttered from the corner, indifferent to whether he was interrupting or not. He licked his fingers as Koralle took her turn to summarize her past; she seemed to come from a background more like his- well not the fact that she was of noble parentage, but that they both traveled alone for the most part, doing what they could to get by. She must have seen some part of herself in him that made her willing to share her food with him. He was already warming up to her, even if she was virtually ignoring him- Of course, he usually had that trouble with any girl… “Ah! Raven…” he said when Koralle had finished speaking, turning to the man he now knew full well was called Rahvin. “So that’s your name…or was it Rasfinn?” he added playfully, pursing his lips and stroking his goatee thoughtfully for dramatic effect. He reminded himself he probably should avoid confrontation, so he dropped his smirk and tossed a half-chewed meat scrap to Rahvin. “Here- It’s a little dry, but tasty all the same. I’m Elias,” he continued, his eyes locked on the demon’s for as long as he could stand, which was actually little more than a few moments. “I came from a family of four along with my mother- my father ran off on us when I was young, and it was hard to feed everyone. Well finally, I took it upon myself to bring us out of the darkness, to give my brothers, sister, and poor old mother the life they deserved…So I set out across the land to make a name for myself, hunting for riches and honor, challenging all who would stand in my way… “I heard tell of a magic spring from a wandering hermit, an ancient pool where dwelt a powerful nymph, one who would grant the wish of any who could find her. I traveled far and wide, following rumors and legends in search of the spring, until my path led me to the edge of a great forest, as old as time, as wrathful and wild as the uncharted seas…I cut through the forest, weaving my way through the labyrinth of trees as tall and dark as giants, with branches that seemed to reach out for you, claw at your very soul. I fought beasts and monsters, creatures never seen in even your darkest dreams, was driven to the edge of death itself when I stumbled upon a grove…and in it, the spring. “The beautiful nymph herself was there, and she nursed me back to health, healed me with her powers, and I drank of the spring’s sweet waters. She, of course, fell madly in love with me and refused to let me leave when I wanted to return home to share the immense wealth she had bestowed upon me with my family; she bound me with her magic, enslaving me so that I might live life eternal by her side- I of course refused, but she insisted, so I tricked her and escaped. Discovering I had fooled her, she cursed me with her power, bringing a terrifying beast, nameless from the depths of Hell itself to end me. I would not give up though, and I fought boldly, slaying the beast and just managing to escape from the forest with my life and soul intact…” he trailed off, the excited gleam in his eyes fading as he anticipated the incredulous stares he would garner from the others. “Well,” he continued less enthusiastically, thinking he’d probably annoyed the company enough already to have them think he was a blatant liar, “That’s not exactly what happened…but I thought it’d at least be more entertaining than my real story. Oh but I’m sorry,” he said as if suddenly remembering something as he turned towards the elf. “I should have let the lady speak first- I’m quite curious to know all about you, Tári,” he added with a mischevious grin. |

The Darkness Within
|
Tári sighed as Rahvin expressed his idea about each of the four travelers telling why they were here and what use they were. It seemed like useless babble at an attempt to become friendly to her. She really didn’t care rather Rahvin was a daemon or a king, all she cared about is if he knew about the hole and would prove useful to her. It wasn’t so much that Tári wanted the other three to die; it was more of the fact that it mattered little to her. Even if Rahvin had not been there when she showed up and even if the others had not decided to join them, she still would have followed the call for power. The fact that the other three were there was just a bonus, everything was safer in a larger group even if it was one as peculiar as this one. She halfheartedly listened to Rahvin’s long speech about how he was some powerful daemon who had led some army of others like him then was captured and imprisoned my some Elf mage. This mattered little to her, but she listened anyways with nothing better to do. Emotion deprived eyes moved to watch Koralle as she tossed some of her meat to Elias. In Tári’s mind that was useless, it seemed that all this man would be good for was bait and possibly a sacrifice to any bests that they might encounter in the dark abyss. Tári hadn’t brought any food for herself other then a small loaf of bread and a canteen of water. Being an Elf she didn’t need much; in fact she could live without any. The only reason she brought it was to wash out her mouth and for the flavor of the Elvin backed bread. She silently listened to Koralle’s short story, nothing to long or interesting there, but she had to admit the girl was probably more useful then the man. Next it was the man’s turn. His long elaborate story sounded like a load of crock to her. And it turned out she was right; as it turned out he had greatly embellished an old boring story of his life. In fact he didn’t even had the dignity to tell them his real story and instead turned the heat on Tári. It wasn’t that she didn’t have a story, it was just she didn’t want to tell them her story, but she failed to see any other way out of it without lying which she was not partial to. “I was born to Elrohir Fëfalas of the Moon-elves and Nienna Linwëlin of the Drow-elves. I lived with Nienna and it was her who taught me the use of the dark magic of the Drow-elves. I soon surpassed her skills and left the clan to further my knowledge. I have since mastered the long bow and as all who live I strive for power, fame and riches. Hence why I am here.” |

((I know that seemed, pointless, but you guys make sure you check the Quest Plot Topic frequently.)) Rahvin's eyebrow twitched as he heard the others tell their stories. Useless bags of meat and flesh, none of them were what he would have hoped to take down there with him. None of them knew what was going on down there, or where they would be going. He could tell that Koralle and her Hound did not even want to be here, nor did the idiotic tinker. And the other girl was merely here for 'fame'. What he needed was warriors, people who were worthy of facing the horrors of the Hole of Husin and who would survive its depths. What he had been left with was children, not even a fraction of his age yet, when you combined them. The Demon Emperor held no desire to show the actual.. anticipation he felt for entering the Hole. Though he knew he could handle himself, he was not as certain about the people he was with. They had problems he didn't. Like the need to breath. Facing a being who had enslaved Gods once, would result in heavy losses, and he doubted any of them would survive this trip. Some thought the being actually lived in the Hole, how trivial the logic was. No one truly 'lived' inside that Hole, His power wouldn't let them. No this individual had been locked away from the world, trapped in a separate world altogether. Hell had no fury like a Demon Pissed. "Get some sleep, the lot of you. We move at dawn." His voice was cold, and hard as stone. Inside his mind he raged a war, whether to let them lay here and sleep as he went in alone, or wait for them, and have some assistance even if it wasn't very much. He slid down the log, resting his back against it as he stared at the fire the tinker had made, Edmund?, no that wasn't it. He sighed, it wouldn't matter. None of their hearts were in it, and he decided to face the Hole on his own. Leave Koralle and them here, they wouldn't be his problem, wouldn't be children needing to be babysat in that other world. He closed his hazel eyes, leaning his head back. If he feigned sleep, then they would sleep themselves, making it easier for him to slip away in the hells of the earth. |

More than carbon and chemicals.

Her gaze could not help but drift back and forth, watchful despite the campfire. She was sure that things lurked just outside their line of sight. The constant twitching of the hellhound's ears and the slight revealing of fangs proved her assumptions, or worries, well enough. Reaching into her pack again she withdraw a crust of bread and chewed aimless bites from it. She wasn't really hungry, but it gave her something to do other than sit there and stare at her camp mates. Then again Koralle didn't have much appetite these days, she had found herself pretty listless with most things actually. She supposed it was her lack of purpose; feeling useless. Maybe there was more than one reason for her having traveled all this way. After all, it was a long journey going from the northern lands to the west. Koralle barely paid much attention to the other traveler's stories. It wasn't so much that she was disinterested, but her attentions were more focused on other things. It took most her concentration just to avoid dropping a hand to her sword at any little sound in the dark. She looked to be more than just a little jumpy. But she figured she had good reason. There seemed to be plenty of things lurking in the shadows that would eat you just as soon as given the chance. Koralle had escaped being a meal for a dragon once, she didn't want that to be her final grand accomplishment. Especially not just to be eaten by something else. As the tales finally ended, some embellished quite obviously and some of them not much out of the ordinary, like her own, Koralle dusted her hands off. She shook her head at the demon's mention of sleep. Even with a fire going, with creature's like the ones in the dark, she wouldn't be able to sleep. "I'll keep watch." Speaking as she stood to her feet, she gave a bare glance to the hound who had stood beside her. "Don't want any of those ... things getting brave and dragging anyone off in the dark." |

Tremble Avalon...for Sir Annoying is here...
|
"Of course not," Elias agreed as he huddled closer to the fire, already scanning the edges of the darkness at Koralle's reminder of the creatures that lurked beyond it. He tugged his cloak closer about him, rubbing his hands and putting them out towards the fire as if to absorb its warmth; the night had come faster than he'd anticipated, cold and dreadful across the barren landscape. Even though he was thankful for Koralle's volunteering to keep watch, he didn't know how easily he himself would be able to find sleep. It still seemed like the most promising option, especially in his weary state, as he'd rather face the monsters of dreams than the real nightmares that would haunt his mind every moment he stayed awake. The Hole might be just a bit less frightening by the light of day...Besides, there was no need going in sooner than need be. He yawned loudly, scooting closer to where Koralle sat vigilantly with her hound before adjusting himself for sleep. He removed his back, his pots and pans clinking gently as he set it down by the fire, propping his head up on the softest part of it for a pillow. He removed a rolled up blanket from its contents and set it down under him to shield him from the rocky ground that seemed to steal all heat away from his skin. Even when pulled to cover as much of him as possible, Elias’ tattered cloak served poorly as a blanket, his lanky limbs protruding from its thin, fraying edges. He shivered a little, shaking off the chill as he looked around to see if everyone else was readying for bed as well. “Just um,” Elias began, turning back to the dark haired girl on watch, “You know…Wake us up if you see anything…Or…wake me up if you need anything. Someone else to keep watch, somewhere warm to sleep, anything at all, I’ll be here.” He gave her an awkward little smile before closing his eyes and turning to his side before she could think of replying, fearing her wrath as much as the dangers that the Hole held itself. |

She nodded uncertainly, not really finding any comfort in the words. At the very least though he'd given her a second glance, she noticed how the others just rolled over and went to sleep. Demons and elves, apparently they didn't make the best company. Oh well, it wasn't her way to judge others. She'd prefer more quiet company to the types who'd press you constantly for personal information. Koralle was a private person at heart anyways. "Just keep up the fire. They should stay away because of the light. I hope." At least she had the hellhound with her, he would alert them to any presence, harmful or not, with far greater ease an accuracy than Koralle ever could. Bu she still buttered foreign words beneath her breath, turning to gaze out towards the dark. She could see through the night from the night vision spell she'd always kept handy. Though sometimes she wished she had turned a blind eye to the dark. Even from here she could see the beasts, once men, that lurked just at the edges of firelight. They fought each other and stared at the sleeping figures. Koralle could just imagine them drooling with anticipation of a meal. She shivered at the thought. Her hand rested at her sword, keeping it drawn just slightly. Every so often she'd turn the blade to reflect the fire light, sending the creatures out there scurrying further into the dark. The hound took a guarded stance beside her, ears twitching this way and that, a fang bared to the darkness. Something was out there, more than the weak minded little things that watched them. Far bigger predators, things from the depths of the hole. Koralle knew it too, after all there was always a bigger predator out there. But there were even things further in the dark, hulking figures she could barely decipher. Well, Koralle was just glad that they didn't stray any closer. A snap of dead things underfoot caused her to jump, as both girl and hound glanced towards the direction of the sound, the former turning swiftly on her heel to keep a steady eye out. |

Unleash the Beast
|
Sven clambered over rocks, the moonlight guiding his footsteps as he followed the tiny light flickering in the distance. He'd left his own fire behind, smothered it to ashes with those from the ground when he'd seen the presence of another in the fading sunlight, a sign that could only mean someone else had the same destination as he. He'd never been used to traveling long distances over land, usually no more than the day's journey from the ship's landing point to a raiding target, and by now he ached to return to the sea. Since docking in Ivelreth, he'd traversed lands farther south than he'd ever been, navigated through treacherous mountains and this accursed wasteland that seemed to stretch on endlessly. It'd been a hard journey, one he wasn't entirely sure he would have bothered with again were he given the choice with the knowledge he held now, but he was determined to make the trip worth it; it seemed many knew the accounts of the horrors the Hole of Husin held in its depths, but judging from the firelight ahead, he hadn't been the only one to be lured by the Hole's promise of boundless riches and unimaginable treasure. He'd had enough success killing and plundering so that his need for wealth was far from dire, although it was true, one could always use more money- but there was a reason beyond that for his being here, the search for somewhere he could belong in life, the prospect that he might find the immortality of the slain, the glory of the Gods themselves before he finally found his rest on the battlefield. Sven didn't know exactly what awaited him, but he'd come prepared- His fearsome broadsword, notched from battle, and his trusty axes rattled gently at his sides as he ran, a small supply of food and a wineskin of water among the contents of his small travel bag. A harsh wind blew across the sprawling landscape, whipping his hair about his face, stealing all warmth from beneath his cloak. Sven was glad he'd dressed for the cold, even though the climate this far south was far more tolerable than what he was used to; he pressed on, slowing his pace only when he'd come close enough to see the circle of the firefight on the ground, and the dark shapes huddled around it. He approached as silently as he could, his soft hide shoes muffling his footsteps as he struggled to make out what could only be sleeping figures in the darkness. He scanned the ground on either side of them, a satisfied smirk gracing his lips as he laid eyes on what he'd been looking for; his smiled faded, replaced by a wild gleam in his eyes, the one he always wore to battle, as a foul wind issued from a spot that seemed even darker than the night, reeking of death and unspoken horrors- This was it- The Hole itself. He strode confidently towards the campsite ahead, making no effort to conceal his coming, his hands empty in a gesture of peace, though he kept them ready to take up his weapons should he encounter any trouble. He doubted these people were nothing more than simpletons and inexperienced adventureseekers, all too eager to face danger and death when they likely had no means to combat either. He guessed they were taking a good night's rest before entering the Hole, but he hoped by morning he might have convinced them otherwise, he himself the only one to brave the Hole and reap the rewards. He figured even if they proved stubborn, their companionship might even be welcome, or at the very least, their deaths could warn him of the coming danger if they turned out to be entirely useless otherwise. "Awake, sleeping travelers," he spoke boldly, certainly loud enough to rouse them. "Fear not, for I mean you no harm, though I cannot say the same for that accursed hellhole there," he continued as he gestured towards the Hole, wishing to minimize any chance of being attacked, knowing he'd likely startled them. "I am Sven Skgeggison of the Northlands...My business here is much the same as yours I imagine, but tell me- why would you leave the comfort of your homes, the warmth of your beds to sleep in the shadow of the fearsome Hole of Husin?" He knew his behavior was painfully direct and rather brash, even for him, but he guessed it was a better approach than sneaking into their camp and waiting for them to awaken. Although he knew nothing of these people, he assumed they posed little threat to him, as most did not, and he'd already given them his full given name, rather than than his nickname- It would bring less questions. |

))Looks like its just you and me for now, Lyra. xD( The hound began to pace, fur raised up and fangs bared. He was obviously quite unhappy with the enclosing footsteps and various chatterings of crazed beasts. If it had not been for the need of fire nearby he no doubt would have taken it upon himself to kill as many a possible. Considering he was a hound of hell the death count would be many. Certainly far more than these snoozing travelers would have been able to slay. Except for the demon, Rahvin. Speaking of which, the steady breaths of sleepers had dwindled from three to two. Koralle noticed it now, as her gaze drew away from the encroaching darkness. She turned quickly, to find him and all his belongings gone. With no sign of struggle it was obvious that he'd taken off on his own. Judging by his attitude with the group earlier, she decided the demon had decided he needed not the help of two humans and an elf, so he went without them. "Verdammen Sie es." Koralle sighed, walking to the spot where the demon had been sleeping. Giving a kick to the dirt she turned to encircle the camp again. Patrolling the small camp as it were. Koralle had resolved herself to an uneventful night of scaring off intruders that were no more than light frightened beasts, when a voice cut through the otherwise silent night. Swiftly she drew her sword, after all one couldn't be too careful. "You two, wake up!" She called, kicking a log into the fire and sending flames and sparks shooting skyward. Her sword was drawn at her side as she stepped to the opposite side of the camp, her free hand motioning for the hound to hang back and guard the opposite side of the camp. At the brightening fire the lurking creatures skittered backward into the dark, giving dark hisses in hatred of the light. She didn't wait for the others to awaken or even groggily reach for their weapons, instead stepping up to meet the man herself. Her sword was in hand, held low but at the ready, just in case any false move was given. Even seeing the man unarmed did not absolve the surrounding suspicion. Who knew what kind of capabilities people had, she'd been tricked before, she wouldn't let her guard down like that again. But she was silent, watching the man as he spoke. Koralle knew that she did not make for a frightening guard protecting the camp. But she had a sword, it was usually enough deterrent. While she was not the leader type herself, she was the only one fully awake and the only one standing up with a weapon drawn. And so she found it best to take it upon herself to welcome in or cast off any passing travelers. And because this one was quick to speak instead of lurking in the darkness, she at least was not so quick to cast him out. Koralle gave a brief glance to the other two she shared her camp with. But without waiting for an answer she whistled for the hound and took a step backwards to the fire. "You've got more troublesome things at your back so you'd best come closer to the fire if you're wanting to talk." She waved a hand in the general direction of the stalking growling beasts in the dark. Through the night vision she could see them edging ever closer, wishing to grab a meal before it got closer to the light. |
