The winds were calm and for now the sea was quite tame. In the gentle waves a single ship was floating idly, it's anchor dropped. The ship was a turtle ship, which was a very rare sight around these parts. Night was falling casting shadows over the ship, but the immense fiery glow of the cliffs illuminated the area.

Rurik was sitting at the front of the ship, where the two large doors had been slid open. His feet were dangling out over the water and at the moment he was lost in thoughts. The fiery glow of the cliffs was a strong remindered of his younger years, when he often went to bed looking out at that glow in the sea.

So long ago had those days been, but he still held little reminders. Hanging from his neck was a peice of glass from the cliffs, which was emitting a fiery glow. His hand was holding it at the moment as he hunt from his neck. He had various thoughts going through his mind, some questions such as who his father was and how things were going back home.

Calm winds weren't exactly Carmelita's favorite kinds of winds. It didn't make for good flying, and that in turn, made her extremely tired. Without the winds, she had to flap her wings more often, instead of gliding upon the already strong air currents. After this long of a flight, she feared running out of magic, so when she spotting a ship on the horizon, she headed towards it without a second thought, needing the rest and knowing she could protect herself if there happened to be pirates about.

Luck seemed to be with her; she saw a man sitting on the front of the boat, and she circled a couple times, before calling out to him. "You there! Do I have permission to land?" She didn't think of her strange appearance before that, and grumbled to herself afterwards that he could think her a demon or angel of some sort. Indeed, it looked that way; how many other blonde haired girls did you see flying about in the sea? At least she had fine tuned her magic and added some more additions to her wardrobe so that she wasn't forever ripping her dresses when she used the spell she was using at the moment.

Her magic was running out, she could feel it, and uncomfortably, she swooped in lower to get a better look. "I mean you no harm, I promise, please...Just let me land." Her voice had more urgency in it, and she hovered right in front of him, possibly frightening him.

At first Rurik didn't notice the woman circling the boat, most preoccupied with watching the glow of the cliffs. In all of his life he had not been the most observant person around. So when the woman did speak it got him by surprise. It did scare him abit and he came close to falling off the boat. But that was something that as far as he was concerned didn't happen.

Rurik raised an eyebrow at her, mostly lost forwards at the moment. It wasn't everyday that you had a winged woman asking to land on your boat."Well...then land" He said, since at the moment he had no clue of what to say besides that.

Carmelita saw him twitch slightly and almost laughed out loud; she probably would have, had the situation not been so dire. I should learn how to swim, she added on to the list of things she had yet to do/learn. The list was rather hefty now that she considered it. Of course, learning to swim would have been a good thing to do before I set out on this fools errand. That was how her mental conversation always went; somewhat sarcastic, always a bit patronizing ... it was like the sweet girl was a whole different person inside her head.

At his permission to land, she heaved a sigh of relief, and flapped her wings twice, projecting herself over his head and on to the deck behind him. At that moment, her magic failed her and died, and she fell a good 8 or so feet down to the deck, landing with a thump and and squeak of pain. "Ow! Sorry..." She exclaimed, employing some very unladylike swears behind the statement. Laying on her back for a moment, staring up at the clear blue sky, she sat up hesitantly, wincing slightly. That impact was going to bruise, she could tell all ready.

"I guess I owe you an introduction, at the very least. I'm Carmelita," she said to the man, giving him a lopsided, carefree smile.

Rurik watched dumbfounded as the woman flew over his head and came crashing down on the deck of his ship. It was quite the odd moment for him, for he had never before encountered anyone who had wings. The thought that she was an angle crossed through his mind until he saw the wings dissipate into nothingness, which made him think it was likely the doing of magic.

Rurik had gotten up from his chair and was standing with the sea behind him. "Rurik" He said in reponse to her words. He was at a loss of words at the moment and his face protrayed some of the confusion that was going through his mind at the moment. "So...were you doing some sight seeing or something?' Rurik said, referring to the bright red glow that the cliffs were casting over the ocean.
