Darkness was beginning to descend upon the craggy rocks of the Yseulte. He remembered these mountains some what from his pass through here roughly four hundred years ago. It had been a rough trip than, when he was just beginning to come to grips with his malevolent nature, hidden behind his blue eyes. Though he seemed normal, but pale, to outsiders, those who had seen him in his blood lust, though none were alive today, knew that within him was a monster, just waiting for the one who held its bridal to loose control, and let it out to consume till it was full. It had been many years since he had reached that stage of desperation and hunger, but he knew it would happen again, it would always happen again. He wore the clothes of a priest, one that had been turned into a vampire, and whom Thrax had used to slate his blood lust. The robes were still white, with a thick gold collar wrapping around his neck, a long chain extended from the collar, ending at about his knees, with a cross, a vial of holy water contained where the four sides met in the middle. He would never say he was a holy man, in whose light does one who feeds on those who feed on the faithful does he stand? Thrax moved around an out jutting rock, and dragged the extended brass claws on his right forefinger and middle finger along the stone, scratching into it two nearly perfect parallel lines. The sudden smell of blood stopped him. Further up the mountain path he could see that the path grew wider, and here someone had built a fire. From the smells mingled with the smoke, it was a pack of orcs, and they were feasting on the flesh of a human. How horrid. With the speed of one who hunted Vampires as prey, he moved behind one of the orcs, who stood, looking down upon the roasting flesh, and dripping blood with hunger. How he sickened the Krusnik. Reaching out his right hand he grasped the much taller orc at the base of the neck, with a grip like an anaconda squeezing a small bird. Soon his fingers pierced flesh, crushing through the veins and arteries, before gripping the spinal cord and tearing it through the orcs back, like pulling copper wire through black rubber. He tossed the spine away and let the orc fall dead, causing his companions to turn, and see the vicious look upon the Krusnik's face. They stood as though readying themselves for a fight, before the Vampire of Vampire's eyes turned from a startling blue, to a burning red. His fangs grew, four teeth extending and sharpening with rapid desire that they had brought upon themselves. "You've awakened the monster." He moved with the speed of one with a goal, a goal to teach these vermin what the innocent they fed on had felt before he had died. The sheer terror of looking into the face of absolute death. He had cleared the fire, moving through it, and knocking the horrid remains of a man's flesh to the ground, with such speed that the flames did not even flicker before he was safely behind another orc. This one was wearing a brown tunic that several sizes to small for him, obviously belonging to the man whom they were about to devour. Thrax pulled his hand back, and thrust it forward, striking the massive humanoid with such strength he could feel the muscles tear and bones snap as the force of the blow passed through him, before allowing him to follow in its wake, falling into the burning fire, paralyzed and unable to escape the hellish flames. Not even seeming to have the time to think of his neck move, the third orc rushed forward. Thrax was hardly noticing him though as the fourth in the group had begun to foam at the mouth and shake horribly. There is no way... Was the thought that barely had time to enter his mind before reflexes kicked in. Striking the head of the second orc's club with the heel of his boot it cast it into the air behind him. He caught the club by the handle and swung, slamming the blunt weapon across the jaw of the oncoming orc, twisting its neck to an impossible angle. It fell, sliding a few more inches from its momentum before stopping after its shoulder had hit Thrax's shin. Putting his hand on the top of the club he put the tip against the back of the orc, and shoved. With a tearing sound like that of wet paper the club tore through skin and muscle, shattering the ribs and forcing the spine out of its way before digging through the heart, and then down into the ground itself, impaling the orc to the very camp sight. Thrax was than allowed the time to take in the full scope of what was happening with the fourth orc. Just as he had expected, the orc's entire frame was shifting, moving and bones growing and breaking as they took on the form of what could have been a werewolf. Its thick orc skin had not let the hair penetrate, and instead caused raised welps all over its body, that oozed with green puss, as his face stretch into the muzzle of a wolf, its ears shifting and growing to sit atop his head. "You are one ugly mother-" Was all he could get out before the Orc/Wolf attacked, lunging forward with speed greater than Thrax would have given it credit for, and managed to tear a thick chunk of meat from his side as it passed by. Thrax fell to a knee, as he heard the tell tale howl/scream of terror that could only have been the already incompetent orc mind mixed with a lust for blood that had caused it to forget they were still on a narrow path, some thousand feet up a mountain side. "Idiot." Thrax said, as he moved toward the side of the path, and leaned against it, resting as he focused his own energies toward healing his body as best he could with out drinking blood. "Thank God for Buddhist Monks." He laughed, as he realized he would now need to repair his priest robes. |

There was one word and one word only to describe her state of being right now. Lost. How she had come to find a path that lead here and how far she had traveled she no longer knew. All she knew was that she was alone, with nothing but her prayers to guide her and her guiding light to speak to. Of course the guiding light was an intangible thing, so she basically just prayed. But she did not pray for hope or safety, did not pray that her light would guide her out of whatever place this was. She only prayed for her family, her sister and her brother, and her parents too. The follower of light prayed for those troubled people she had met in her travels thus far, that they would find the hope and light that they needed, that darkness would be vanquished once and for all and that peace would reign. It was a pipe dream of course, but with all things prayer made possible, faith and hope brought salvation. If she preyed enough, did enough good, helped enough people, even her dreams could be real. By no means would it happen quickly and it was far form being an easy task, but she had faith that it would happen. One day, war would cease and plague would be no more. Her journey had been rather uneventful, up until the point where she heard a commotion in the path ahead. She followed the source of the sound, if there was a fight perhaps she could mediate and if it was over she could tend to wounded. It was all she ever wanted after all, to help people. Though she could not fight with any sort of weapon or spell, indeed she had no aptitude for any of that, she could still do what she could. But what she saw as she stepped over the hill was a bloody battle that ended swiftly with some orc-ish brutish creature running right off the edge of a cliff. The follower of light held her breath, watching on as she knew she couldn't help the man outnumbered. Though she was not afraid for her own personal safety, she held such strong faith that the light would not allow her to come to harm, she wasn't stupid. Instead her time was spent watching the fight, staying out of the way until it was all over. Only then was she quick to step forward, reaching the man who had limped over to the side of the path. She reached his side as he fell because of the blood loss no doubt. What was most surprising however was that the man was dressed in the manner of a priest. Now that was something you didn't see all the time. Follower of light she may be, but Dani didn't exactly dress like one of the cloth. "That was quite a fight there mister." She said, kneeling next to him, not knowing what the man was only that he was bleeding profusely. Already she had already torn a length of fabric from the long cloak at her back, folding it over to create a suitable tourniquet for covering wounds even as great as that one. |

Thrax reached out holding the girl's wrist slightly in his hand, but enough to keep her from touching his wound. "Save the material to stitch back together, I'll be fine in a little while." He said, looking down at the wound which was already beginning to heal. He could sense the Light within this girl, it shined like the sun in this dreary place. The demon within him, Allyria, cringed at the closeness as she was nearly bowled over at the presence of such an innocent person. She fled into the back of his mind, pushing his own demonic soul forward, he felt a ripple beneath his skin as his skull tried to morph to match the look of his demon before resting in its human side. His blue, actual frozen, eyes watched the much younger girl in amazement, she was shining like the sun to him, and he wasn't even burning. She was beautiful, stunning really, and though he merely thought it, the demon in the background was making gagging noises only he could hear, and in his mind he told her to shut her yap, and let him enjoy this. "What is your name?" He finally asked, feeling stupid for staring as he turned his face away, his brown hair moving over the black robes he wore, and hiding the rosary that he wore around his neck, not something commonly found on a being of darkness that he was. He clenched his teeth as he twisted toward the wound, planting his hand on the ground and digging at the earth with his fingers as he pushed himself up from the ground. Ignoring the blood dripping from the wound, and running down his sides and stomach as he pushed himself up. |

She stopped, withdrawing her hand and rolling up the cloth. Then she placed it in the pocket of the old long cloak she was wearing today. It was quite obvious that the guy wasn't human, but Danielle had run into worse creatures during her journey. The light protected her then and it would protect her now. Setting her hands on her knees she gave the man a swift looking over. Ignoring the blood at her feet she only shook her head. "Even if you're not human you should still rest. Healing or not you're still bleeding all over the place." Her tone held concern for the stranger even as he seemed to stare at her in a most unusual way. Having no way to tell what other's thoughts were she could only attribute his actions to blood loss. She moved to stand and help him as he pushed himself off the ground. "Danielle. But you should keep resting mister, it'll do no good walking around bleeding like that." |

He looked down on the girl as she attempted to help him up. How would she feel to know she was helping a four hundred plus year old creature of darkness up from the ground. Maybe it would have been better for him to bleed to death. His eyes quickly scanned the carnage of his fight, the orcs lay either in pieces or were still twitching from where they were stuck in the ground. He looked back, hopefully fast enough where she couldn't tell exactly what he had been looking at. "I'm Thalton, though most people now a days just call me Thrax." He stated, answering an unasked question, that he knew was polite to answer when the girl had named herself to his question. "Unless your carrying Vampire Blood on you, I don't think sitting is going to cause my wound to heal any faster." He brought the rosary to his mouth and kissed it lightly, the smoke rising from his lips as he touched the holy symbol that was held. He was covered in crosses, but none actually touched his skin, it was a warning to other creatures of the night to stay away from him, it seemed Orcs who could turn into werewolves were to stupid to realize that. "There.. is a city up ahead, its not much, orc town, but they are nice to people passing by and merchants, just don't ask to go underground, thats strictly Orc territory." He grabbed the mountain wall beside him as he began to head up the path, using it for stability. "If your going to keep heading this way, you'll come across it eventually. Though I think a bit of a lay about before getting there would be good. You humans aren't quite as durable as other races." He said, a cheerful smile showing on his face to show he meant no harm. |

Who knew, all she knew was that there was someone here injured and she was the only other person around. Being a follower of the light she had seen many things that were not human. She had given aid in casting out demons and spirits. Though far from being as powerful as some priest or holy man, she had enough faith in the light to get by. And that was all she needed, just enough to survive and help other people when she can. "You can call me Dani if you like." If he would give her an alternate name t call him by then she was happy to return the favor, so to speak. "No, only human." She was not ashamed to admit to what she was, many a time had she been called weak simply due to her race. Her faith was far stronger anyways. Whatever this man was, she didn't know, and she wouldn't ask. It was not her business and it wasn't as if she would act otherwise or as if he were more dangerous than before. His motion with the cross was a curious thing. However it gave her cause to believe that he was one of those so called darker races that followed the Light regardless of what pains it may bring him. She respected that. She nodded at his mention of a town somewhere nearby. Well she could use a bit of civilization, orc or not, anyways. "Well, I can hold my own well enough." She wasn't worried about herself, but the man's condition was troublesome. Even if he could heal faster than she could ever hope to, he was still injured right now and it didn't look like he would be up to a long day of travel or any sort of fight any time soon. "Alright then." She said, before helping him find support on the wall. Dani still stood close by in case he should fall. |

Thrax looked at the girl, surprised by her caring and consideration. He knew he didn't need to be, he could feel the power of the light thriving within her, and new of its forgiving and understanding nature. Not to say that didn't throw him off a bit, still. She was a young human girl, barely older than what the normal age of his bride had been so long ago. He tilted his head to the side and looked at her. It was something along the lines of the Compassion for all others, that he had first heard of and brought him to the light rather than the Gods of the World. His frozen eyes took her in for a minute before he slipped the rosary from around his neck and stared at the cross. "You might want to stand back." He said, his voice quiet, but loud enough to be heard in the stark silence of the mountains. He brought the holy symbol of the cross to his side, and placed the item to the torn meat that hung from it. A loud hiss filled the air as his blood and skin began to cook and fry from the touch. His head was thrown back as a howl of pain escaped him. Steam rose from his side as well as his mouth, passing through three sets of fangs as it escaped with his voice. One set of fangs among his bottom teeth, and two sets across his top teeth. His skin began to glow and crack from the touch of the cross on his side, as he fought back against the pain of true death to at least seal the wound not leave him as weak as he had been. Quickly he pulled the cross from his side, once the blood had quit flowing, and began cleaning it on his robes, as he fought to catch his breath. It was torment, and it was light, he was of darkness, but he fought for the right to walk in the light. "Sorry, it should make the trip a bit easier now." He said, his face flushed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A dark figure passed through the surface streets of Arangoth, a figure in a black cloak and hood made his way toward the entrance to the lower streets and realm of the orcs. No other creatures were allowed into the citie's under belly, but by request of his master, he was granted safe passage, as well as any others that made to move under the sign of the Serpent and Bone. He moved as easily as a serpent did, sliding through the crowds and throngs of orcs as though they couldn't touch him, or any of them wanted to touch him. He moved with a purpose, knowing the way by heart though he had never before entered his master's home. He was a Drow, a Dark Elf, and he was more comfortable in this City of Orcs than he ever was on the surface world. He stopped infront of a large mansion structure that had been built into the cavernous walls of the area. He slipped through the door and began making his way down toward the lowest floor. It was a long trip, taking nearly an hour, before crossing the bridge hovering above a vast magma chamber. He knelt before the idle on the other side, a massive female spider, with the upper body of a woman on the lower half of a spider body, almost like a centaur. His master sat upon a throne before the alter, looking like any who claimed to be the Incarnation of Allyria would. "My master, the orc party you sent to protect the path to Arangoth has not reported in. Foul play might have been involved." "Do nothing yet." The female Drow said as she gently teased a serpent and spider hybrid she had created through magic to show her status and prove herself as Allyria, the Daughter of Lox the Spider Goddess. "We will await them to come here." She said, her face hidden threw shadows except for the orange glow of her eyes and teeth as the light from the magma reflected off of her pure white eyes and teeth. |

With all the people she had met, and helped, they all acted differently. Somewhere more than happy to accept aid, others too stubborn but gave in anyways, and then still others who were shocked and could not understand how a being of light such as herself would help any of the so called dark forces. But it was in her nature to forgive, and the light looked favorably upon those who could give hope to the hopeless, kindness to the broken hearted. It was all the world really needed, she thought, was just for people to help each other. Forget all the racism and stereotypes, everyone, no matter who or what they were, deserved a second chance at redemption. She stepped back at the word, judging by the careful consideration he took in the manner of his dress it would do no good to let one of the crosses touch him. Danielle supposed he was one of those dark creatures who had not yet grown accustomed to the signs of the light. Sometimes the light did so prefer to test its faithful, after all in the face of adversity was were faith triumphed best. She placed a hand over nose and mouth at the scent of burning flesh, it was quite a painful thing to witness, but she could respect him for his ingenuity. darker creature or not, he made sacrifices too in order to make use of light's graces. As he recovered, she simply nodded, before continuing on her way again, still offering a shoulder to lean on when he did need support to keep going. |

The path was winding, and turning up the mountain, as if carved out by a massive snake to make its way. In fact, the vampire-like creature could have sworn he scented serpent nearby, but it was probably only a trick of the lights. With the help of the holy cross, and his own greatly accelerated healing, it was not but a few steps and the painful burning in his side had become a pale flicker of unregistering pain. "So, how is it you turned to the light?" He felt his face flush at the sudden brashness of the question. He was from an older, more calm time in the world, and being to brash and asking something so impertinent, was considered very rude. "My apologies, M'lady, you need not answer." Where the hell did that come from? He hadn't spoken like that in over 300 years. It was so.. upper crust and high society, something he didn't have, but back than, that was how the poor spoke, just to show the world how things really happened, the high society of today was the poor and prostitutes of his time, it was nearly enough to make him laugh at the irony of it. |

She found the travel to be a more difficult one than she had anticipated, she was only human and could not claim any special endurance or the like. But she was more than happy to continue forward, if the promise of civilization was ahead where she could get the man cared for. Vampire or not, he still should get some rest, all creatures needed recuperation regardless of whatever special powers they might have. The path was long and winding, but at least it provided something new t gaze upon at every turn. Dani didn't mind it so much, and besides she had found the first real company in a while. Much of her travels had been alone lately, not all creatures relished being with one of light such as herself. The man asked a relatively simple question but his tone indicated he felt bad for asking. Why Danielle could not see, the light was as natural to her as anything else. She had no tragic history which turned her to the path. "It's not a big secret or anything. I'm always more than willing to discuss the light." She smiled slightly, perhaps to be reassuring. "It always seemed the right thing. Or maybe its just because of my older sister. When I was very young a paladin came and took her away, saying she was destined by the light for training. Later she ... well became the goddess of Justice." |
