A short time ago Aeon heard talk of a creature called a Griffon roaming the plains here. It was mostly the describtion of the animal that had caught Aeon's attention. The man he talked to described it as a mixture of lion and eagle, having the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. That was enough to pique his interest, beleiving that animal to be something worth hunting.

He was hunting here mostly for cultural reasons, not to make a profit off of the griffon. Odds are that after he had slain the animal he would take what he needs and be on his way. He had never come across the idea of hunting for a profit, for in his tribe they went out in hunting parties getting what they needed.

So now he was trekking through this grassland, oblivious to the fact that dragons roamed this area as well. The redman was moving low to the ground, with his glaive held out infront of him, gently moving the grass aside as he walked. He was following a peculiar set of tracks, ones that had the look of lion and eagle tracks. His attention was focused on the area around him, so odds ae he would take notice of any occurances around him.

There was one thing and one reason only for why she was here. She needed the money. Taking a job in the city meant staying in one place, this was not acceptable for her because of the fact that she herself was often hunted. Damn bounty hunters, they didn't even ask why the woman wanted her dead. Far be it from them to care however, all they wanted was their paycheck anyways. But Elaine had never done a wrong thing in her life, she was the one betrayed and falsely accused. She just didn't have the same charisma her sister did. Well, nothing she could do about it now.

She had heard a rumor about a rare prize haunting these lands, a griffon, the stories said. A mystical creature that was both lion and eagle, a dangerous predator if there ever was one. Where others had tried and failed, she would succeed however. Or at least that's what she told herself. What she didn't like was the hunting grounds she found herself within. It was a wide open plain, meaning she'd have no cover to hide behind. This was something she didn't like, because it meant she could not hide out and snipe the bastard in mid-flight. Well, she supposed she would have to go about things the hard way.

Elaine paused as a rustle in the grass caught her attention. She knew it was not the creature she searched for, as it would certainly tower over the long grass. However, it could be anything lurking through the foliage. So she drew her bow, settled an arrow upon it, took aim. And then she waited, her stance poised.

Slowly the Redman stalked through the grass. He paused for just a moment when he though he had heard something in the grass. As a hunter he made note of any sound, for the source could be something usefull or something liable to rip you open.

After listening to everything around him for a moment, Aeon set off once again. Uisng his glaive he pushed aside the grass before him. Then he came across quite the suprise as he came through the grass. That surprise being an arrow practically aimed at his chest. The wielder of the bow appeared to be a woman and possibly a fellow hunter.

Her fingers twitched at the edge of the bow string. She could hear the grass rustle and aw it shift as a hand parted the tall blades. In any other case she would have simply let the arrow loose. Instead however she could see that, judging by the height of the grasses' movement and the hand parting the blade that it was not so beast set out on the attack. As the man came full into view she jumped back slightly, putting some distance between herself and the stranger. "Watch what the hell you're doing." She hissed through clenched teeth. Just what she didn't need, some idiot getting in her way as she hunted a most dangerous quarry.

The redman had also stpped back, half of his body back in the grass now. That grass was also a quite visible irritation for him as it brushed up against his bare skin. He was holding his glaive at the ready, pointing it towards the woman.

The respone that Aeon gave the woman was nothing short of a blank stare. He had no idea of what she has said, but judging by the tone he had done something to get on her ire. After thinking of the fact that he had stepped through to an arrow aimmed to his chest, he assumed that she was a hunter.

As the realisation that he ahd potentiall interrupted in her hunt dawned on him, Aeon lowered his weapon. The redman also bowed his head breifly.

She gave a careful glance to that spear of his (spear, glaive, it was all the same to her). At the slightest move she was more than willing to let him have an arrow to the throat. But he stepped back, which was good, she was hunting and wasn't in the mood for confrontation with human company. Even if this one did look like some uncivilized tribesman. A savage by all accounts. Of course, she wasn't exactly civil company herself, living by the hunt and within the wilds. but she at least tried to retain some dignity.

Getting a closer look at the man she could see he was covered in tattoos, dark slashes here and there like the stripes of some giant wild cat. Ah well, it wasn't any of her business. All she really cared about was getting her own job done. Girl's gotta eat, after all. A brow rose as the man bowed his head, some sort of apology she supposed. She was far too busy to stand around chatting however, but she lowered her weapon to her side again, slipped the arrow back to the quiver at her hip before turning abruptly on her heels and vanishing back into the long grass.

With the deprating of that woman, his hunt would resume. However with the knowledge of another hunter in the area he would be far more aware of where he was attacking. He wouldn't want some situation where he attacks through the grass to find a person at the end of his glaive.

The redman departed back into the confines of the tall grass. He walked slwoly at a croush using his glaive to push the grass aside in front of him. He had never hunted in terrain such as this before and the grass against his bare skin was a great annoyance.

A shrill bird like cry echoed over the area, the sound unmistakingly like that of a eagle. The sound met Aeon's ears shortly and he looked up to the sky breifly. In a way it put him ill at ease, since he knew that this creature could soar through the sky like any other bird. His gaze surveyed the sky breifly until he looked back ot the grasses. He started to trek forward once again, honing in on the source of the sound as best as he could.

Pushing through the high grass, her gaze tilted upwards at the predator's cry. Green eyes watched on as the small red falcon dipped and turned, gliding on the wind. Cupping her hands to her mouth Elaine gave a shrill birds call, and the falcon turned swiftly with a shriek and dove back towards the earth. Reaching a hand out she caught the bird of prey by the talons, allowing it to settle at her forearm. Tossing the raptor a scrap of rabbit flesh she resumed scanning the sky once more. Just as she predicted a huge shadow loomed over head, the giant predator attracted by the falcon's shrill cry.

At first the shriek that he heard in the air, sounded as if it was some large beast. But it seemed he was mistaken, for he soon caught a brief glance of a small falcon in the skies over head. Just a few moments later he was treated to a surprise, a surprise that most hunters would not want to get.

From behind him the Griffon emerged from the tall grasses, soaring over his head. He dropped down to his knees and now his heart was racing. It had been a long time since he had been taken by surprise like that, the last time being while he was hunting game in the jungle. As he watched the beast it quickly took to the sky, now searching for the falcon.

Now knowing full well that this animal was indeed capable of flight really threw his plan of attack into disarray. With only his glaive and the wrist blade, he was incapable of taking it out of the sky, being limited to luring it down to him for some up close and personal fighting.

What a fearsome beast it was, but nothing could compare to the raging mob she had once faced those years ago. Why, Elaine was quite sure she'd rather deal with a whole flock of gryphons than what she had been defenseless against before. She had no fear as she crouched in the grass, hiding away as the mystical beasty scanned the skies, flying this way and that. As its gaze drew to something else in the fields, Elaine let her arrow fly, aiming to clip the gryphon in the wing.
