((Private: Antigone))
((Sorry, forgot to mention that in description >_<))

Arcaniss walked through the newly discovered area known as the "Yseulte." His robe brushed up the loose dirt that rested on the rough ground of the barren wasteland. The enchanted staff he had come upon, known as the "Quake Staff," held tightly in his right fist, tapping the ground softly as he walked. Such a great, amazing staff had fallen into the hands of this dark man, and it was not something he wished to set off accidentally.

"Hmmm… This place is not that bad of an area, though it is rather too hot… I shall have to change that when I gain more power…" The mage seemed to growl with how rough his voice was. Without much need to use it, it seemed to have died, and now was an emotionless sound that forced out words.

"Mishun vi lowaar thaczil... Coi looks amazing..." Wonderful. He had not forgotten the arcane speech of the Dragons. Out of all the languages known to the world, the most amazing to him was the Draconic tongue. For ages, the dragons were magical, wondrous beasts that ruled the land. With time, however, the dragons seemed to have lowered in quantity, as well as in strength… Such a pity, they were amazing creatures indeed. Now they were lowered to serve mortals at times.

Arcaniss stopped where he was. A long walk, and he had lost track of where he had ended up. He knew he was still in the Yseulte range, though he had no idea were. Glancing around, he looked blankly at the mountains and seemingly endless cracked earth. A dead land indeed…

Antigone was walking through the wasteland known as the "Yseulte". Her lightweight armor clinked as she walked. New to these parts, she treaded cautiously, unsure of herself in this territory. Seeing a man in a robe carrying what seemed to be a staff, she froze... a new person, in a new land. Her skepticism immediatley kicked in and she eyed the man carefully. She did not want to start an unnecessary battle, but if she had to, she would fight.

Arcaniss twisted his head as he noticed someone else. A female elf stood there, looking at him. Shifting his body, he faced her entirely, a blank look on his face. For a moment he did nothing, though after this he began to move closer to her, his staff gently tapping the ground. Nothing seemed important about her. There was nothing special at all visible and she simply appeared to be a normal elf. This would turn out to be even better than he had hoped… He needed something to test his staff and other things on.

"Greetings, Vaecaesin... Errr… Greetings, Elf." He began in Draconic, too used to speaking simply to himself, though upon finishing he corrected himself. As he came closer and closer, his pace began to slow, and his grip upon his staff tightened. "What brings you out to this barren and dead place..? Quite lucky for me that you have shown up, however…" An obviously evil grin slid across his face, dark intentions showing through his white teeth. His face was shadowed slightly by the hood of his robes, though his darkened eyes and appearance could be seen.

The man's face was shadowed by his hood, but Antigone could see his face darken with evil intention. Antigone took a tentative step back. She didn't trust this man at all, and carefully watched for signs of attack. She looked for anything she might use for a weapon. Stepping back again, she nearly tripped over a stick. Picking it up, she discovered it was thick enough to work with and longer than the man's staff.

The mage's grin only grew wider as the woman backed away. She picked up a stick. It was large, just longer than his staff. Luckily for him, he had no use for his staff as a weapon. After all, he was a mage, not a fighter. In his hand was a great piece of magic. A staff, decorated with symbols, imbued with power. For now, it was all he needed to fight.

"So, Elf, I take it you are prepared to fight..? Then shall we let it begin, or are you going to just stand there and act threatening..?" Arcaniss laughed loudly, his voice deep, cold, and empty sounding. The grip upon the Quake Staff tightened as he tilted his head back, allowing some light to reach his rough face, the grin still wide as ever. With luck, this woman would prove to be a fun opponent.

Antigone flinched as the man laughed. There was no joy in it, just a cold sound. She glared as he said, "So, Elf, I take it you are prepared to fight..? Then shall we let it begin, or are you going to just stand there and act threatening..?" Such an aggravating creature deserved something far worse than a strike or two from a stick, but it was all she had to work with. Praying she would be able to handle this without losing her temper, she took a few steps forward and twirled the stick into an offensive position. "Show me what you've got." She said tauntingly.

Arcaniss slowly lifted his staff into the air. Upon going one foot above the earth, it slammed down, disturbing the calm dirt below. As it struck, the earth began to shake violently, small rocks and dirt bouncing about. In moments, a loud cracking sound could be heard as the ground split open, the fissure being formed shooting towards Antigone. Rocks clattered down the seemingly endless pit caused as the earth cracked. Shaking slightly from the force being pushed forward, the mage shifted slightly, moving away from the dark opening.

"Alright, hope you can handle it." Arcaniss's grin was wide, his shadowed eyes closed slightly, watching the woman closely as the earth split. Unfortunately, he had little to work with, though he was still certain what he had was enough to hold against the elf. Besides, all she had to wield was a stick. Wood, although it can be strong, tends to be weakened if simply lying upon the ground. He had one spell other than his staff and a small dagger he had come across, though he believed he could finish the fight without using either of those. At this moment, she did not seem as though she would be a good opponent to him.

Antigone jumped to the side as a fissure suddenly opened up before her, threatening to suck her in. Rolling out of the way of danger, Antigone lurched forward at the man, swinging the stick she'd found at his head, while discreetly kicking for his knee. Throwing half of her weight into the kick, she spun around to jam the stick towards his gut.

Arcaniss grinned as the woman came near her. His hands began to glow a white color, and as he muttered a few words, it began to cover him. Just as the stick came to strike him, the mage was gone. About twenty feet away, the same white glow began to rise from the ground, and from it stepped the man. Looking calmly at the woman, he looked to the skies. No clouds in sight…

"Well, luckily for you, I do not believe my dagger will work without at least one cloud." Arcaniss sighed, thinking through his limited supply of magic. The man's left hand began to heat up, and small flames appeared, beginning to dance within his palm. As he thrust his hand forward, the flames grew quickly in size and formed a ball of burning flames. "Although I do have a few spells at my disposal."

He would have to be careful about just how many spells he would cast. Each one drew from him, and caused a good amount of stress. Were he to use too many too quickly, he would end up requiring a good amount of rest before being capable of casting again. With this, he backed up a bit, to create more distance between the two as the fireball flew through the air.

"A mage!!" thought Antigone with shock as the man before her diappeared and reappeared a distance away. "Well, that helps a little. I just have to work him until his power runs out." Antigone dashed at him, but jerked to a stop as a fireball came hurtling her way. Rolling to the side, she jumped up and ran in a wide circle, coming at the mage from the side with a series of jabs and kicks.

Such an annoyance, this woman turned out to be. Insisting on getting near the man, she had run towards him yet again. Instead of teleporting, he slammed the dirt with the magical staff yet again, sending a large fissure crashing through the earth once more. The ground shook around him and the splitting earth. Small rocks bounced about, some falling down into the large pit forming.

With this done, the mage took an extra precaution and began casting another spell. Just as before, his hands began to glow the familiar white. Exactly as just a few moments before, the mage vanished and reappeared from another cloud about twenty feet away. Instead of casting another spell, however, he simply stood there and waited for the elf to charge again.

"Come now, you must be better than that! I am limited on my spells and you still can not touch me? Bah, horrible." A devilish grin slid across his face as he stared at her, his dark eyes looking just as menacing as always. A yawn slipped from his mouth as he stood there, gripping his staff. His spell book was resting at his side. Without it, he would have nothing at all. No spells, no power, nothing. Fortunately for him, it was strapped tight to his robes, and would not soon be leaving him.

Antigone waited for the mage to disappear and looked for the white light that shone where he would reappear. Spotting it, she changed direction and sped towards him at full speed, trying to land an attack before he could retreat. She felt her foot meet something, and smiled.

"Hmm..." The mage began to think as the woman bolted towards him. Two teleports so close together… If he did not rest, something horrible may happen, such as the loss of a limb or two in the movement. Thus, instead of teleporting once more, his left hand yet again heated, and just as before, small flames began to dance within the palm.

Lifting the left hand slowly, he took careful aim of his target. She was moving fast, though he was not a simple minded being, and knew what he was doing. With a quick thrust, his palm erupted in flames, and out shot another fireball, roaring as it soared through the air.

Most would view his aiming horrible, for the fireball was not aimed at the woman directly. Instead, it was looking to strike in front of her. Arcaniss, however, had taken her speed into account and aimed for a spot she would be at in moments, instead of the one she was at when the spell would go off. It would either strike her, or singe her at least slightly if she did not stop, for the fire would still hit the earth and its flames would splash.

Upon the release of the fireball, the mage backed up slightly, and raised his staff into the air. Without slamming it down, he awaited the decisions of his opponent. It would be rather difficult for her to escape a fissure in the ground if it was aimed directly beneath her and it only began just a short ways away.

Antigone saw the mage's hand glow, not like when he teleported, but when he had thrown the fireball. As he launched the mass of flame roared towards her, she quickly calculated where it would it land, and lunged away from the spot. She felt the earth beneath her suddenly quake, then open up into an endless chasm. She felt herself falling and flailed for something to grab. She felt her hand meet something and held on. Pulling herself back over the edge, she took a moment to catch her breath, then searched around for the mage. Spotting him, she lunged for him, swinging her stick, which she had somehow managed to hold onto.

Noticing the woman fall, the mage's hand heated once more. As yet again more flames began dancing within his grasp, he grinned and watched as Antigone started to climb out of the fissure. His hand thrust forward, aimed for where she was climbing out to, and the flame burst out yet again. The speed of the flaming orb would bring it crashing into the woman just as she got her upper body out.

"You appear to be having some troubles reaching me. I believe you need to rethink your tactics a bit. Running straight at me does not seem to be working well." Arcaniss began to back up, putting more distance between the two. Looking to the sky, there was still no clouds in sight. Such horrible luck. Unfortunately, the large amount of casting was beginning to strain his mind, and a small headache was starting to form.
