Welcome to the Avalonian Quick Guide! Here is a list catering to guests who are thinking about joining Avalon. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First of all, Avalon is a Medieval/Fantasy based RP site. It is not a video game with animated graphics. The simplest way to describe it i that one person writes a little story of their character and another person responses to that story with their own character interacting with yours. That said, here's the quick version. -Read the rules. -Register with your character name, first only or first and last is up to you, some even use nicknames and last name only. As long as it is your characters name, its all good. -Write up a character description. -Get roleplaying! You don't have to wait for admin approval before RPing, if something is 'amiss' an Admin, Mod, or other member will PM you and let you know. __________ The purpose of this guide is to inform potential members about the world of Avalon in as quick and informative a manner as possible. While there are plenty of excellent sources to choose from in our FAQ and help sections, we know that when deciding upon an RP site to join, not everyone wishes to delve through slews of history before joining. This is also a little recap for current members. Avalon invites you to experience the magic, today! ------- RULES Every site has rules, but of course you knew that already, eh? ^_~ Avalon is no different. You can read the rules in the link here, but here are some basics for you. -Register with your characters name, only one character per username. -Typical good manners. -You don't start with items such as magic, weapons, or pets. These all must be bought before RPing with them. Earn money by RPing is the most used method, but you are always free to offer drawing characters or items, creating signatures and avatars. There are also plenty of people who don't mind loaning, or even giving a weapon to a new member in need. (Secret hint, most people don't realize that writing a character journal is an easy and quick way to gain gold.) -No double posting in IC (roleplay) sections. -Avalon is a medieval/fantasy RP, meaning no guns, CD players, or the like. ------- The Staff Both moderators and administrators add items to character inventories, and have the ability to give out warnings when required. Administrators are the names in blue, while moderators are green. Both staff groups have alot of work to do in order to keep the site running smoothly, but the majority of us still find time to RP too, so you'll be sure to see us around. ^_~ ------- Shops On Avalon, each post you make in the IC boards adds to your total post count number. Each post is worth five gold (1 post = $5). If you have enough money to buy what you want, post in the specific shop thread you would like to buy from. You can also buy from other users, at a reduced price. ------- Forums OOC (Out of Character, means no roleplaying here) *Important Information - Rules, Announcements, Welcome/Absence board, and Help forum. *Character Related - Descriptions, Inventories, Journals (do earn posts), and RP requests. *Character Alliances - General Alliances and Celestial Alliances *Shops/Services - Shops, Marketplace, Auction, Member Services. *General OOC Boards - General Discussion, Polls, Stories/Poems, Artwork, Photos. *Miscellaneous - Positions Available, Competitions, Suggestions/Ideas, Advertisements. IC (Roleplaying Forums) *Northern Lands - 50 word limit. *Eastern Lands ~ Isle Of Fincayra - 50 word limit. *Southern Lands - 150 word limit. *Western Lands - 350 word limit. *Waters of Avalon/Sea/Oceans - 150 word limit, in character most areas inaccessible by foot. *Fight Arena - 75 word limit. (Sometimes site wide tournaments are held) *Castle of Avalon - 50 word limit and home of the King Leander Valerius Aldridge. (LJ) *Castle of Fincayra - 50 word limit, the King of Fincayra is Calonderiel. (BlueDragon) *Houses/Homes - 50 word limit, special forums given to those who purchase homes and land from the shops. *Guardian Shrines - 100 word limit, home to the elemental guardians of Avalon. *God/ess Temples - 100 word limit, home to Avalon's deities. *Sacred Places - 100 word limit, home to the most revered and respected parts of Avalon, where gods and guardians are borne. *Guilds/Clans - League of Darkness, League of Light. ------- That's it for now.
