The figure stood at the edge of the plate like a statue, great cloak flowing with the wind like a cloth ocean. The night was a calm one, the engines seeming to have stopped for the night to provide a almost erie sielnce. The smells of exhaust, grease and other smeels normally drifting from Midgar seem to drift away, giving a burst of fresh air to the otherwise stagnant city. It was also cold... very cold. The temperature had dropped from its predicted 90 for that night to a low seventy. The moon was out in full that night as well, its pale light striking the town somehow darker than usual, althought the night was cloudless. The figure stood and surveyed the landscape before him, the mountains to the south, the ocean to the north... it was just as portrayed. The forms great cloak seemed to wave like a small lake when a breeze stirred the peacefull night, gentle as if afraid to disturb teh erie peace descending over the town of Midgar. The form stood with its arms crossed before it, sleeves covering any sign of the figures arms in their folds. It pooled around its feet like a robe, its dull brown fabric faded from both normal travel wear and the sun. The figure turned slowly, never seemign to lose balance on the fine edge he walked. Twin eyes scanned Midgar as seen above the plates. Midgar. Midgard. Midgard, the realm where human beings live. Midgard, the Earth, was created from the flesh of the primeval giant Ymir. The supreme god Odin and his brothers Vili and Ve slayed the giant and formed the ocean with his blood and sweat, the mountains and stones with his bones and teeth, the sky with his skull -supported by four dwarfs- and finally the clouds with his brain. The primeval woman and man were created from the Ymir's left armpit. The Tree. The Life Tree. The Yggdrassil The roots supported the tree and its branches shading the world. The roots of the World Tree reached the lowest realm Niflheim, the underworld, Jotunnheim, the land of the giants, and Asgard, the home of the gods. Midgard was around the World Tree in an upper level surrounded by the ocean where lived the terrible World Serpent, Jormungand. This was the world. This was the absolute. Or was it? What would humans do if they truly understood they where formed from a giants armpit? Deny it, claiming that they where created in their gods image no doubt. Arrogance. Malieability. That is what was hidden in the world. What would the gods do, for example, if Jormungand was slain? If the Dwarfs holdign the sky where to be killed? Then there was Bifrost. During a great battle, Ragnarok, all the gods and living things perished. Lead by Loki, the monsters fought the gods for control. Bifrost was shattered by the weight of the monsters. Eventually, everything was destroyed by a great flood. However, the Earth rose from the waters, and life began once again. Bifrost and Ragnorack. They where the key. If Bifrost was remade, recreated and the pathway to the Gods made... would Loki again resurface? Again lead an attack on Asgard? Creating or raising Bifrost... that would be a task of glory, a task of legends. Perfect to teach these humans what the truly where. Ants. The figure fell from the edge of the plate and vanished with a sound earily like that of unfolding wings. The figure stood before a towering skyscraper silently, oblivious to the crowd of employees who surged and pulsed around him, oblivious to the odd looks thrown his way. This would be the beginning. The birth of his life here. He would allow himself to let loose this once, to come into this world in a blaze of fire and destruction not even a tenth... no, a hundreth of what he would release if he coudl complete the Legend. It was time then. The moon still cast its dimmed rays onto the plaza he stood in, but the temprature seemed to drop to the low sixties, breath emitting from the crowds mouths as most stopped to compensate teh sudden temprature change. The cloak flew upwards, minus its wearer, floating down like some bizarre ghost as the air turned stagnant. A shock of spikey white hair was revealed, angled foreward so it just abrely reached the tops of his right eye and covered his left oh so barely. Sharp crystal blue eyes scanned the crowd as many more turned to stare at the figure standing in their midst, the eyes drilling into each and every one of them right down to their soul. Reptillian eyes allowed vertical lenses to flick across their surface for a moment as his mouth curled into a smirk, twin fangs apparant. His face seemed youthfull like that of a twenty year old, but at the same time cold and calculating like that of an insane man. It was a look not many held, and those who did wheren ot to be taken lightly. His body was lean, thin and musculuar as was evident through his black tanktop, arcane tattoos running from under it down his arms only to dissapear at the elbow under his jackets half-sleeves. His jacket was a vest, black leather sporting various deeb pockets and a slot i nthe back for armor. Its sleeves where black-and-white striped, starting at the elbows and running down to his wrists where they ran into the fingerless gloves that donned them, metal knuckle-pieces glinting in the glow of streetlights. His shorts where black denim, various chains hanging from them, some attached to belt loops, others hanging free. They ended a mere inch above his ankles, which where clad in a pair of modern day "skate shoes", ankle socks barely showing above their edges. He looked like a modern day punk teenager except for two things. A massive seven foot long blade floated before him, surrounded by a green aura matching his hair and emitting a sense of dread into the crowd around him, its serrated edge glistening. He reached out a gloved hadn and grasped the hilt, letting it drop from its floating state and slame tip first into the concrete. The ground seemed to explode, dust and mortar flying up, giving in under the blade. Placign both hands on the hilt Shinigami lifted the blade and resetd it on his shoulder. His second sword rested at his side, held on by several of the chains around his waist. Its smaller blade seemed to glisten in the light and reflect it, seeming to be the source of all the oddness around, the dimmed moon, the temprature, all of it. Yet, at the same time it wasnt. Striding foreward confidently, Shinigami allowed the crowd to part around him like Moses parting the Red Sea as he strode for the entrence to the scy scraper, screams rising up behind him as panic rose in his wake. |

Silence.Silence was the sound Selene emitted. Deafening eerie silence as she watched the bustling crowd below. She sat a top the roof of a high building, what appeared to be a cigarrette between blue tainted lips. So blue they looked like she might be dead. She opened one side of her mouth and a blew out a steady stream of smoke past her lips. The smoke curling as it went up into the air and slowly faded away, her eyes on the smoke as it reflected in her dark eyes ,like jaden orbs reflecting the curling smoke in her eyes. She was standing on the edge of the roof, she wasnt affraid to fall it was rush, the fear the possiblity of falling off to her death though even death would be a welcome to this sterile and lonely existence. She'd be free of this worlds grasp on her but she never fell. She never hit the ground. Never died. Selene gazed out on the crowd her long dark hair waving slightly from the breeze that passed every so often from being up so high. The wind seemed to pick up at the sounding of bustling voices. Around her everything was dark the way she liked it. It seemed like light hurt her eyes sometimes. She dropped her cigarrette and let it fall towards the concrete. Her eyes on it watching it about to hit the ground. It soun slightly and wisps of smoke still emitted as it tried to give out the last little embers of life. Then it hit the ground and smoke still poured from the tip as if it were bleeding. She smirked. Her hair was tied from the front of her face to the back of her head where it wrapped in a bun but most of her hair was loose going down to her thighs and swaying gently in the breeze. Her hands were in the pockets of her skirt which reached all the way down mid calf where it met up with black heel leather boots. They reached to her knees so that you could not see her legs. She wore a black shirt underneathe the a black vest, it buttoned around the top but parted around her stomach showing off a pierced belly button. She had a thick leather belt that slung slanted and low on her slender hips. She wore short gloves and and from the gloves went black material wrapped around her arm although way up to the begining of her shoulders. She also wore a silver chain looking bracelet. A chain also hung from the belt loops of her skirt. She closed her eyes on the crowd. She didnt like crowds,in fact she hated them. They made her uneasy and reminded her things. Past memories that she was better off forgetting about. Yett with her eyes closed she remembered. She heard the screams in her mind and saw the blood splattered on the ground. She opened her eyes before the memories could grip her again. Remebering was too painful. It hurt too deeply. She sat and watched. Thats what she was good at. In a darkened room she could be there waiting for you and youd never know until the last minute before she striked and you were gone. Selene relied on her agility and her speed. she relied on her silence. Her need and desire to never speak. People very rarely heard her voice. She didnt rely on strength of the physical kind. You could be toughest man alive but if you were against the fastest man alive. You'd have a challenge on your hand. Thats what she believed. Selene pulled out another cigarette from her pocket and lit it inhaling silently. Silence was the sound she emitted. Deafening eerie silence as she watched the bustling crowd. THE STATE OF MIND Sephiroth. Indeed, he was known by many, but was he feared? Or thought of as a myth? A bad nightmare in which happened long ago? A terrible force locked away? Or perhaps he was forgotten...? Or is the name just a vestigeal word used to describe people's horrors, with no defined face? Those are the thoughts of children, men, and women throughout Midgar, and Sephiroth knew it. That is what drives him, what feeds him to live up to, not the expectation of mere men, women and children, but his own expectations, his own dreams and fears. He knew he wasnt sane, but he also knew he wasnt exactly insane either...he thought of himself as a mediator between the two. He had ideals in which stretched far much greater, and further than that of Midgar's petty streets and pubs...he cared naught for anyone mere man, woman, nor child, nor the gods themselves. He did consider three people, though, as 'friends'. These people are; Shinigami Hadrien, the rather rash, but awesomely righteous young man in which no mortal matched his swordsmanship. Kagura Akatsuya, who's alluring beauty was just as deadly as her fighting prowess. And Althena, the care-free chaos loving young girl. These are the people in which Sephiroth has shared countless battles, laughs, bruises, and tears with. And this is his state-of-mind. ALPHA Sephiroth's emerald green eyes shone with a brilliance that night as he slipped a dark brown-like cloak over his head, looking like a mere beggar at the time, hiding his distinctive flowing silver hair as he slipped between various people upon the slums of Midgar. His dark black leather boots hitting into puddles of water, from the recent rain they had just received only a day before. He knew it was once again time for his wrath to be felt, but knew he had only three people to turn to. Each of which who's strength equaled that of a small army. His body, sleak and finely tuned was that to be jealous of by manya young men, and envyed by young females. His grace matched that of a goddes, or so he had heard. His battle-hardened hands were encased is gozz, and bandages, under the dirty brown cloak, his always trusty Masamune blade swung at his side, with every stride he would always make sure he had atleast one finger upon the hilt of the blade...this was the one constant in his life, the Masamune. This one blade has been at Sephiroth's side for close to his entire life span, so far. Sephiroth then looked upwards, at hearing an immense explosion-like sound. Seeing the flames in the sky, he wondered to himself whom could have caused this damage? He then went off into a sprint, his legs pumping quickly against the ground, water kicking up around him as he ran throughout Midgar to reach the building at which the explosion had taken place, and in his running he noticed a figure upon a building, throwing downwards a cigarette, without a doubt in his mind, he knew it was Kagura Akatsuya. But he hadnt the time to speak, so he kept on with his sprint to the building...His lean body allowing him to weave inbetween the common people with utter accuracy and an awesome grace in which no male should have, his hood had came off of his cloak now, leaving his long flowing silver hair treating behind him, and his emerald green eyes leading his way forwards. Manya people hardly seen his finely toned body, most seen him as just a blurr. Which was understandable with his sheer adrenaline rushing, and with the strength of his legs applied a great speed to his aura. He ran for about a good 5 minutes before coming to a large building, and turning the corner around that building he saw something that would make a normal man turn around and run in utter fear and dismay. The very building he had saw from a distance only minutes earlier was now before him, some floors engulfed in flames, and some bodies were astrewn across the ground, charred with flesh melting from their very bones, he shook his head- allowing his long flowing silver hair to toss from side to side as he did this, and began walking through the chaos towards the building...a skyscraper nonetheless. His boots slammed onto one dead man's skull, crushing it utterly into fragments, something in which was not new to Sephiroth, death. And the stench of the decaying all around him...He cared not for these dead men, women, and children, in which were laid astrewn across the encompassing area. He walked slowly towards the building, his dark black leather clothing encased his whole body beneath his cloak, and his right hand's fingers were nimbly grasping the Masamune's hilt, ready for any assault in which might be inflicted upon him by any mere man, or woman. As he neared the doors to the skyscraper, he slung out his right arm, slinging his Masamune across the door's glass-like exterior, shattering it into manya fragments. With this, he demonstrated his swordsmanship by manuevering his blade into various slashes, each hitting against a smaller piece of the glass in which had just broke, all while the glass was still in mid-air. Sephiroth then grinned, and moved the Masamune back into its' sheath, and walked straight into the building, looking over his shoulder he then saw the glass finally fall onto the ground. Noting that each made another, very distinctive sound as they each hit the ground, his ears picked up each sound, sounding more or less like a chorus from a song he had always liked, but he shook that from his thoughts as he proceeded in the building, straight towards the stairs...knowing the elevator had too many defense mechanisms and cameras, he walked slowly and calmly up the stairs. Step after step his heavy boots resonated a hitting sound throughout the building, finally when he was at the top level of the building, he hit his shoulder against the door, busting onto the roof, smoke and flames following quickly behind him. Sephiroth then turned around to face the edge of the building, but noone in sight in which could've done this....So he walked to the very edge of the building and placed his right boot upon the railing, and places his elow upon his knee, looking out upon the town, hearing the screams and yelps of the poor, utter, fools trapped in the building, frying...dying... He just shook his head, as his emerald green eyes surveyed the scene, he loved it, really. His long, Masamune blade ran its' length at his side, his left arm going across his stomach, grasping onto the hilt of the blade, ready for any would-be attacks. He then thought of Kagura, what was she doing here? Of all places? Surely she could have caused this...But the question was, did she? Or was she watching him? He thought then, it would be pretty cocky of her to think she could watch over him, without him knowing...No...it wasnt her who caused this, she would still be here lavishing over her handy work....Hmm...He decided to wait, and to see whom or what would show up...and go from there.... |

He stood amist the fire unscathed, the crackling of the flames mixing with the screams of the dieing as they roasted alive. He stood in the center of the burning lobby, seven foot sword held over his shoulder still, a litter of bodies strewn around him. Several where slashed in half, legs sepperated from bodies like bizarre puppets spilling red liquid. Shinigami turned, chains rustling and brushing through the flames as he began to walk towards the service elevatorl ocatedi n the back of the lobby. Roasting flesh touched his nostrils, and he inhaled the scent hapily. It was the scent of victory. He walked out of the flames and then slowed... there was something... no someone, here. Two people he guessed. Turning slowly, white hair standing out in the flames like a solitary iceberg, his piercing crystal eyes landed on Sephiroth as the legend walked in like some mirage, the air between him and the new arrival shimmering as heat drifted towards the roof. Turning entirely around, he brought his massive blade from his shoulder and held it before him, glasping both gloved hands on it now to steady his grip. This person was probably here to try to stop him. Excellent, let the higher powers know there was a new force in town. His voice was musical, melodic and seemed to dance into Sephiroths ears, somewhat deep and holding a mysterious tone to it as well as one of a challenge. "Who are you? If your here to stop me your signing your death contract." The large blade swung to the right with lightenign speed and then sped left in a horozontial slash. While Sephiroth was out of range by several yards he still felt the air rush past him from the warning strike. Flames where literally cut in half for a moment as the blade passed through them, the massive blades serrated edges seeming to sing as they cut air. The large blade returned to its ready position in a blur, tip aimed at Sephiroths head. "So, make your move stranger." |
