Here are the basic rules of Avalon. More specific rules will be found in the specific place. Any breaking of the rules can result in a warning. The Admin reserve the right to warn if they find that you have been breaking these rules, they also reserve the right to remove it or ban you [if necessary]. The Admin will always contact you in some way before doing any of those things. ---------- General Rules 1. There is no LPG (Level Post for Gold) rule here at Avalon, there is a word minimum. If you are seen posting below the word minimum you may get a warning [it all depends on how far away you are from the word minimum]. 2. No spamming, especially not on IC boards!! Which means no double posting, post once in a row per topic. This includes roleplaying your multiple characters in one thread. Patience is the key to getting a good roleplay going. If you double post by accident it will not count. This goes for Character Descriptions as well. post one character desc per username, you may edit your post so there is no need to post another description. 3. No god-moding. This is where you play your character as an all-powerful being. You will receive a warning if you are reported/seen doing this. 4. No Power-Playing. This involves controlling the actions of someone else’s character. You will receive a warning if you are reported/seen doing this. 5. In the OOC sections you are allowed to basically say whatever you want, but keep it sensible. Admins have the right to warn you if you directly insult someone/they do not think what you have written is acceptable. Please respect other members! 6. You cannot say you have items/weapons/creatures/spells, unless you have bought them. This includes most items, except clothing and other essential items. If you are seen with items and there is not proof that you have bought them you will receive a warning. 7. Avalon is set in a medieval/fantasy world, with this said that means there are no guns, no television/electronics, no blue jeans and tank tops, etc. Please remember this! 8. Only one character per username unless permission is granted from Admin. This does not include pets/animals. You can have multiple usernames, though. 9. Do NOT advertise another site in your signature or the ChatBox. Breaching this rule may result in a warning/removal of your signature. This includes joining only to PM/Email other users to join your site. Users who do this will more than likely just have their account deleted and possibly banned. We don't like spammers. 10. SIGN UP WITH YOUR CHARACTER NAME! That means no people with names like “kool_kate86”, “Lord_of_Everything123” or “wit_u_4eva”. The Admin will PM you with a request for a better name, if you ignore that PM your account will be deleted. 11. Do not create a character that is a blatant rip-off of another fictional character. This can be anything from books, to movies, to cartoons. Not only does it show a lack of originality, but it is also a breach of copyright laws. 12. From here on out there are to be no more derogatory comments to another person's character, roleplaying style, or ideas. Anyone who does will receive a warn. SO BE NICE. Or else. ---------- IC Rules 1. No killing of another’s character without permission from the owner of the character, this includes their pets. However you may kill NPCs. 2. Take heed of other people’s posts, do not post completely irrelevant nonsense, please try and stick with the general theme of what is going on. For example, do not come into another person’s battle and start raving on about the banana you had for breakfast. (IC of course, on the OOC boards feel free to express yourself as you like as long as it stays acceptable). 3. No sex, oral sex, or any sexually implied activity on the boards. This is not because I am trying to restrict how you express yourself or anything like that, merely that there are members who would be offended by this sort of Role-Playing and we strive to keep all happy. Therefore if you want for your characters to get 'physically involved' more or less use the MA (Mature Activity) Boards, that is what they were made for. The password is in the Announcements forum. 4. When in a fight or battle with another, look at their abilities, their spells, their weapons and the amount of posts they have. Generally they will have the advantage over you the more they are skilled therefore it is not really fair if you are to think you shall beat them if you are lesser and a weaker role-player. Just beware of the reality of the situation. 5. ALWAYS SEPARATE OOC FROM IC. If someone's character pisses you off in a roleplay, it does not mean you must hate each other out of character. Learn the difference between reality and fantasy people! 6. And once again…STICK TO THE WORD MINIMUMS. If you know you cannot post above 350 do not post in the Western Lands. It’s only fair for the other RPers. The word minimums are there to encourage you to write more. Word Minimums: ~ Northern Lands = 50 words. ~ Southern Lands = 150 words. ~ Western Lands = 350 words. Of course, there are other boards with different requirements. Check the rule in individual sections for rules and minimums. ---------- Other Rules There are specific rules for places like the Fight Arena, the Photo section etc. Usually you will find them in the description of the board or in a separate pinned topic within the board. If you cannot find one of those, just think before you act and you’ll survive. We do have OOC forums that are visible when you become a member. Activating your account: Once registered, you will not be able to post anywhere until you have posted a character description under the "Character Descriptions" board. ---------- Compliance with Local Law Avalon expects all members to comply with their local laws, which means advocating no illegal activity. Don’t boast about what you shoplifted or stole, even if you didn’t really. It can be taken quite seriously. Additionally, linking to illicit downloads of copyrighted video games, music and programs are also forbidden. Not only could it be classified under the law as robbery, but it would be within the authority of the MPAA or respective organizations to request Invisionfree to shut down Avalon as a hub under international law. Things are getting very serious on that front. Avalon does not have a magical microscope with which to peer into your lives to determine whether or not you are following the rules. But we trust you-the member-and therefore believe will believe you if you were joking about something illegal. But Avalon will not under any circumstances be used in ANY format-PMs, topics, polls and the like-to be used in an illegal manner. Disregarding these rules will result in an INSTANT and UNCONDITIONAL ban. If you have any problems, queries, complaints etc feel free to PM any of the active Admin. (They are listed at the top of the page.) Legalities: Avalon reserves the right to alter any content deemed to be in breach with the rules without notification. Downright plagerism is not accepted.
